I still have very big trouble of telling SS1 and 2 apart. From the looks. I always confuse them No matter how much explain videos i watch. I know sometimes in SS1 the Hair is usually a little bit more golden, but Not always. And the amount of Hairstrands in SS1 is less and ss2 is a bit more, but it is also not always consistent. Is there an easy way to distinguish them from each other?

My main reason on why 1 and 2 use to look completely different is because of the hairstyle. First appearance of it against frieza and cooler it had less hair spikes which I liked alot because it can be telled alot different from 2. I wish toriyama kept that design until the cell caga. However full power super saiyan would have similarities to 2 but it would kinda be the same as cell saga. But when not at full power it has the same hair style as against frieza and cooler.

I really wanted to surpass the 2:38 point but after saying Saiyan wrong repeatedly. I'm no longer able to continue watching the video 🤷🏻‍♂️

Commenting late, but in addition to what you've said in this video, there's one other major reason I actually love the transformation and its the fact it was shown off as early as it was. You mentioned that people gripe on it for not having the emotional weight behind it like SS1 and SS2, but i actually think the lack of one is what makes it stand out in context of the arc and the series as a whole. Throughout the entire Z storyline, the heroes have always been able to unlock a higher form of power through a super saiyan transformation and win the day at the end of the arc. I love that with SS3 they flip the script on this precedent. By having it shown off early and then slowly revealing that SS3 won't be enough to win the day is a way of really elevating Buu's status as a danger in this arc. It's like Toriyama telling us that "even a new super saiyan transformation won't save you this time". The thing that saves the day comes not from some bulked up super saiyan in a new form, but actually from the combined contributions of the weak rallied by Mr. Satan/Hercule. I think overall it was a cool twist on the formula and the way SS3 is integrated into that really helps elevate that throughline in the arc. Even if the arc was flawed in a lot of ways.

From my birds eye view, I think Goku knew Gohan would go super saiyan 2 and no one else could because he knew Gohan's peak would allow him to reach the form. As no one else can have a peak like Gohan has. (It's similar to Gon's transformation. He has years of training power hidden inside of him.) Everyone else would've needed more time and training. It was shown back in Radditz battle that Gohan can have massive boost of power out of anger. It's almost as if it's hidden in him at all time. When it manifests, it even surprises his enemies for how powerful he can get. I heard that his potential unleashed form, (ultimate form) was as strong or stronger than super saiyan 3. Which reveals to me that Gohan has a massive surge of power hidden inside of him. Could also be a reason why he could transform into beast mode because it was in his peak just like how Ssj2 was. Which is why when he was younger, every new form he got, he was getting cocky because he was free, he was powerful, he had everything in hand and it was fun. However as he grew older, he understood the consequences that's why he didn't let Pan get hurt unlike the outcomes against Buu and Cell.

If you didnt even finish the ToP then you're definitely not informed enough to talk about this. A lot of tension and drama are created by UI from him having to suppress his battle hungry instincts. He eventually has to compromise and make a form that's one foot in and one foot out. That's the point if the form. It's the opposite of what Super Goku is and he has to adjust to it and change as a character in order to properly wield his power.

An easily forgettable first time this trope appeared was the time when Blooma and Krillin had found the treasure chests in the underwater cave during the Red Ribbon Army arc. Goku was sidetracked since Gen. Blue messed with the arrow that originally pointed our hero in the proper direction. So, while Goku is delayed Blooma and Krillin try their best to deal with Blue in their own distinct ways. Then, once you think the two have exhausted every chance at survival, and Blue is about to clobber a paralyzed Krillin with a rock to the noggin--Goku emerges from the water like a submerged ballon full of air! That visual has really stuck with me along with the familiar feeling of Goku arriving at just the last moment for the rescue. And much, much more, later on, there's also a callback panel (albeit more-than-likely not an intentional one) during Raditz's time. Precisely the moment when Gohan erupts from they Saiyan-Pod upon hearing his father's wails of excruciating pain. Great stuff.
