I know having the will to go forward making videos when you don't have many subs is hard but you're doing fantastic i really like your analysis on the buu saga and just make videos for fun when you're happy

Thank you, I really appreciate all of your kind words. Don't worry, I love Dragon Ball and talking about it is really fun. It's just that my mind gets a bit deflated & can't really think of a new topic to talk about sometimes. That said, I'm currently writing the script for my next vid so keep an eye out!

I think super sayain 4 was a great form,it's basically Goku both rejecting the brutal sayain culture by controlling his great ape but also embracing it by growing his tail and becoming calmer,it takes the Frieza saga idea of Goku realizing his ancestry by ignoring the bad stuff and getting revenge on Frieza for what they did to his people and takes it to the natural conclusion of the best of both worlds.

You gotta admit it was pretty cool seeing Golden Ozaru in GT given the fact that we see something similar depicted in a flashback Vegeta had in the Namek arc.

Yeah it is. It's neat that GT builds off of little moments like that and elder kai's comments about the dragon balls for their stuff.

I think the reason both of these forms are like this is they were trying to show the side of goku they forgot to portray with the initial characterization

If you didnt even finish the ToP then you're definitely not informed enough to talk about this. A lot of tension and drama are created by UI from him having to suppress his battle hungry instincts. He eventually has to compromise and make a form that's one foot in and one foot out. That's the point if the form. It's the opposite of what Super Goku is and he has to adjust to it and change as a character in order to properly wield his power.

Yeah, I thought back on it and the mismatch was probably intentional. Goku having to master a form that opposes his energetic, battle hungry self was probably what they were going for to make the achievement satisfying. The reason I can't really be engaged with this idea though is cause of what I mentioned in the video.
Goku has been calming his heart and mind for most of his life. It's a teaching he internalized after his training with Kami & we see it persist with him basically till the end of the original DB series. The reason he was able to get Super Saiyan grade 4 was because he calmed & controlled the restless feeling that came with being a Super Saiyan. Goku suppressing his desires is a key part of his nurture. Like I said in the vid UI being an extension of that isn't a bad thing but with the way Super Goku is written it doesn't really feel like the same character to me which makes me not really interested in seeing his journey to get the form. The manga makes things extra eyerolling for me cause of how it tries to frame him as a bad student.
