Would love to see a “pizza cousins” ranking (pizza rolls, bagel bites, etc.) Also, I am totally a part of the Red Baron cult. If you eat five slices in one sitting, you become an Ace.
I'd never had Red Baron until recently (we usually by Digiorno's), but there was a buy 1, get 1 free sale....and weirdly, I kinda liked it. Like, it's objectively Not Greatd, but there's something comfortingly school-cafeteria about it that both my husband and I enjoyed. Pretty tasty for some cheap-ass pizza.
Yeah I grew up 20-30 mins outside of a city in a small town and I would only get "delivery" pizza if we picked it up on the way home from school (I went to school in said city) or if I spent the night at a friend's house from school. I was always so excited when we would get a delivery guy to bring us the pizza at my friend's house.
The key to any frozen pizza is you have to doctor them up a bit. First you need to reorganize the toppings the pizza comes with. Then add to it. I usually add mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes or any toppings I happen to have. But you can’t go overboard because the extra toppings won’t cook right. Maybe add extra cheese. Then you have to season it. I usually do a light dusting of Lawry’s seasoning salt, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Lastly for the last few minutes right when it’s almost done you turn the broiler on and crack the oven door open so you can watch it. This insures you get a nice cheese melt and cook those extra toppings and it comes out more like a fresh pizza.
If you have all the toppings cheese and extra stuff you don't need a frozen pizza. All you need is some English muffins. Toppings cheese, sauce in the oven for five minutes at 350 degrees.
Same. Add some of your own marinara and cheese. Move around the pepperonis and add olives, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers (or whatever you have). Bake to whatever crispy level you want.

The “perforations,” as you call them, are USUALLY there to prevent the dough from bubbling up when cooked - they keep the dough flat. If you get Red Baron, you MUST get the brick oven crust - otherwise, you are just wasting your money. But the brick oven pizzas are pretty good. Also, if you get to Publix, try the Palermo's thin crust (aka "cardboard") pizza - I love them!
Brick Oven's not bad, but I used to really, really like the Fire Baked kind that I believe brick oven replaced. Fire Baked to me was so much better so I'm disappointed that they replaced it with Brick Oven. I think Red Baron also has a thin crust kind which ain't terrible. I'd definitely put Tombstone above Red Baron any more I think. Publix brand is also pretty good if I remember correctly. My favorite frozen was garlic crust Digiorno, but they either don't make that kind any more or I just haven't seen it in several years. Never had Frechetta though. May need to give that one a try one of these days.

They can be eaten without the extras though.

The frozen pizza revolution of the 90's made huge leaps in quality from the 2 decades before. I tried everything that came out at the time Digorno and Freshetta were by far the best. I would rank them equal on quality it comes down to taste preference. Digorno has a more savory/spicy sauce while Freshetta is more on the sweet side.
I agree with the party pizza comment. Sometimes there's just something so good about real cheap frozen pizza. They are probably the kind I get the most
My go-to is Wild Mike's. I love its airy crust, Italian, seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Give it a try next time. They sell it at Piggly Wiggly in my area; I've never seen it at Walmart.
Nestle changed the recipe/how they make the Stouffer's French Bread Pizza recently -- it's not as good as it used to be. (They used to be a goto french bread pizza for me) The sauce is different now, much sweeter than it used to be; not sure what else was changed.
Matt is the perfect example of "southern" in a lot of ways. The humor the laidback-edness the ability to come up with ednesses the food obsession. The acceptance of not taking being an adult to seriously because it's Alabama who cares manners who ....but yes maaaam roll damn tide
In Wisconsin we have a style of frozen pizza called pub pizza. Namely Heggie's, Lotsa Mozza, etc. It's good stuff. I know they've expanded in recent years but I'm not sure how far.
There are a number of Wisconsin delicacies that need to be exported to the rest of us, who, for whatever reason (50.9" of snowfall per year in Madison for example) don't live there. My list includes: ALL the cheeses, cheese kurds (dont't be trying to pass off frozen cheese sticks as the real thing either - some other states try that), the craft beers just to name a few...
Our school pizza was never typical. We would have honestly with a really thick base and crust, fiestada (which was like a personal frozen pizza) or occasionally a French bread pizza. Always loved that homestyle...
My high school actually served Red Baron. They weren't like the regular crust though; they were these thick deep-dish mini things. Really good. Made me fat.
Please make a music album. I would definitely buy it. That musical section was the best part of this video, and that is saying alot because I love y'alls Bless Your Rank videos.
@@g3heathen209 Agreed, bad crust = bad pizza. The crust is an extremely important part of the pizza. If I simply wanted to get toppings in my mouth I'd scrape them onto a plate and eat it with a fork and be done with it. While thin crust is good, it's also disappointing and not filling at all. Not worth the money considering they cost just as much as thick.
Tombstone is my favorite. I also like the Aldi style flat/cardboard pizza that you say haha. My dad is a truck driver and picked up several of these brands at the same time. All he was hauling was frozen pizza and he said it was precious cargo. I didn't realize a lot of these brands are made at the same factory.
Everybody always ranks the original crust Red Barron and rightly finds it terrible. But why do they always ignore the Red Barron pizzeria style? It's really good.
I was waiting for Tostitos (edit. It should have been Totinos thanks CTback)) to show up. It’s my “hey boys, moms not home, let’s go out and get pizza from the store” pizza. Two pizzas for me and one each for them. I remember back in Athens the food lion had “family size” Totinos. Those were the days.
He over cooked it and it's never going to be great cold. I think he was unfairly harsh but maybe he just doesn't like thin crust pizzas, it was by far the most different of the chosen group.
"It looks more natural" I don't know, I've seen pizza in its natural habitat growing on the pizza trees and I have to say all of these look man made although the Digiorno was closest to pizza in its natural state.
I guess I'll have to try Freshcetta next time I go to Wally World. I've been buying the store brand pizzas at Costco lately, and they turn out pretty good with gooey cheese. I always spray my pizzas with a little olive oil, which helps them cook to a golden brown without burning at the edges. We recently bought an air fryer oven, which has been fantastic for pizzas as well. Oh, and cats rule.
Same here. When it isn't on sale I want to say it is about $8 or $9 in my area. That is getting close to the cost of a Papa Johns or something if they have a $10 deal going. But on sale for $5? Yes, please.
Ah damn, I was really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Totino's! My family ate those a LOT early on, before we got financially stable. Annnnnd... a 👎 for being a cat-hater. There's enough hate in the world right now! Don't be hatin' on kitties!
I mean yeah, for $5 it's pretty good. If I want a cheap and quick pizza that is usually my go-to. But there are pizza chains that are so much better though. I'd rather have those.

My go-to is Wild Mike's. I love its airy crust, Italian, seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Give it a try next time. They sell it at Piggly Wiggly in my area; I've never seen it at Walmart.
Stoffers French Bread Pizza for the win, also I love Tostinos too!
If you like Stouffer's French Bread Pizza, try Aldi brand. Less expensive and IMO just as good. At least give it a shot. No harm done. LOL
@@pyenme I wish I had an Aldi's near me or I would totally try that. Otherwise it seems Stauffer's has the line on French Bread Pizzas.
I love the French Bread pizzas!!!
I think it was pepperage farm, but there was a pizza on cressant dough that was absolutely heaven.
Nestle changed the recipe/how they make the Stouffer's French Bread Pizza recently -- it's not as good as it used to be. (They used to be a goto french bread pizza for me) The sauce is different now, much sweeter than it used to be; not sure what else was changed.
I grew up on Tony’s. I probably just have nostalgia but I like them.
I think Tony’s is good too
Wal-Mart's self rising pizza is pretty good especially for the price!
Yes it is
The stuffed crust five-cheese is really good. I'd eat it over Little Caesars
Matt is the perfect example of "southern" in a lot of ways. The humor the laidback-edness the ability to come up with ednesses the food obsession. The acceptance of not taking being an adult to seriously because it's Alabama who cares manners who ....but yes maaaam roll damn tide
Jack’s pepperoni pizza is okay, but their bacon cheeseburger pizza is the only frozen pizza I’ve found that I love.
i like tombstone pizza 😂😂 has anyone else had that before?
I meant how
Screaming Sicilian frozen pizza is absolutely worth the price. THE BEST freezer pizza.
Agree!
Yes it is!
When I tried this brand it was the worst frozen pizza I ever tasted at that price range. The meat on it was foul tasting.
I love your shirt! Flamingos are the best accessory.
“Maybe your scarf is a little too tight.” 😆😆
Red baron is a common frozen pizza in my house also ....my favorite frozen pizza is mama mia's they come 2 in a pack I've always loved them
Great now I want a frozen pizza and I wasn’t even hungry when I started watching this😂
In Wisconsin we have a style of frozen pizza called pub pizza. Namely Heggie's, Lotsa Mozza, etc. It's good stuff. I know they've expanded in recent years but I'm not sure how far.
Lotsa Mozza is by far my favorite but they aren't carried in Walmarts. I have to find them in local stores like Hy-Vee, Price Chopper and Sun Fresh
Lotza Mottza Hawaiian is hands down the best. YUM. Heggies is pretty tasty too! I am next door in Minnesota.
Lotsa mozza is definitely their best
Screamin scicillian is the best frozen out there. My boys eat Jacks...horrible. don't know how they can stand it
Preach!
I agree! I love Screaming Sicilian but I can never find it! Our Walmart never has it!
It definitely is the best frozen pizza!
I kept waiting for that one to show up! My daughter is obsessed with their Mother of Meat. Plus you get a cardboard mustache, so it’s fun too! 😂
@@swanlake8827 try Kroger 🙂
He said the standard should be pepperoni and cheese pizza and I wholeheartedly agree. That’s a like right there
I can’t explain how excited i got when totinos popped up at the end 😂 they have the best crust 🤤
Matt you've been quarenteened to long you've gone nuttier then a squirrel in a tree and cats are the best
I refer to the Totinos as industrial or school pizza and when they changed from round to square shaped they just reinforced that name for me.
Our school pizza is actually better than most of the pizza places. I get what your saying though. Most schools have really gross pizza look alikes.
My guilty pleasure is Totino's sausage pizza and then their taco pizza.
I think this is my favorite Bless Your Rank ever, absolutely loved it!
Red Baron is on a whole other level when you're drunk at 3 AM. I'll agree it's mid at best if you're having it as a real meal though
Please make a music album. I would definitely buy it. That musical section was the best part of this video, and that is saying alot because I love y'alls Bless Your Rank videos.
I also keep coming back for the lil tune at the beginning
@itsasouthernthing @blessyourrank
The only purpose of the crust is to get the toppings to your mouth; therefore, the thinner and crispier the better.
Yessss
I am the other way, a good bread like crust supports the cheese and sauce, a better than eating a cracker with toppings on it.
YES!!! Thank you! Finally, someone who gets it! Amen!
I worked in sales for Tombstone back in the 80s. Good pizza and good story on how it started
Ahh this is the first I’ve totally disagreed on. Red Baron is my jam.
Agreed. It's the best - best sauce ratio
Yes!
By a large margin red Barron is the best
Bless your heart.
You can't tell a pizza from cardboard.
Tostitos are tortilla chips. You're thinking of Totino's, and they make better pizza rolls than pizza.
No! Totino’s is great pizza!
At least in my memory.
I wish they’d make a GF version just like the original...
CTback oh gosh. You are absolutely correct! I great debate I guess is round or square Totinos.
The best frozen pizza, hands down, is Home Run Inn.
Yes
Only frozen pizza we buy. Something about it makes it good. Just had it yesterday
Jack's is the best, I'll fight you shirtless in the street Matt. Come and get these knuckles.
😂
I like Jacks!🤣
Hey I'm only 5'9, I'll still square up with big ol matt to defend Jack's pizza. That's sayin something
He over cooked it and it's never going to be great cold. I think he was unfairly harsh but maybe he just doesn't like thin crust pizzas, it was by far the most different of the chosen group.
@@atjays exactly you gotta get just a hair over undercooked do the sauce don't evaporate out that's when it's the best
Totinos Pizza is the best way to relive your childhood excitement of pizza day for lunch, leave them alone.
FYI, your ranking was 100% right on by my taste! From small town in Kansas
My fave is Screamin Sicilian if it's on sale. Otherwise it's Kroger supreme
Same!! Since we shop at Food4Less (so cali) Kroger is their generic brand and the supreme is damn good for $2.99
Screamin Scicilian was great when I had it that one time. (We don't usually have frozen pizza in our house.)
Same here. When it isn't on sale I want to say it is about $8 or $9 in my area. That is getting close to the cost of a Papa Johns or something if they have a $10 deal going. But on sale for $5? Yes, please.
S.S. is absolutely the best !
Just watch a video on how to make pizza dough, it's super easy and you might not even want take out again.
Glad to see Totino's Party Pizzas got a shout out.
Watching this 10 months later.
"Have I been in quarantine for so long I'm going crazy?"
Oh, you sweet Summer child....
Yep, he has no clue...
Screamin' Sicilian is my favorite, but I'll usually only buy it on sale.
Our Walmart has it for $6. It definitely is cheaper than other name brand pizzas on this list.
Ah damn, I was really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Totino's! My family ate those a LOT early on, before we got financially stable.
Annnnnd... a 👎 for being a cat-hater. There's enough hate in the world right now! Don't be hatin' on kitties!
WHY 👏🏽WERE 👏🏽YOU 👏🏽BANNED 👏🏽FROM 👏🏽PIZZA 👏🏽HUT, MATT?!👏🏽
🧐

🧐
My favorite line was "great job Toney's, it was not a good job it was actually a terrible job" whispered was hilarious
Imagine not eating Jack's fresh out of the oven lmao
Yes! Shout out to Torino’s! No frozen pizza is truly good, therefore the $1 tasty bite is the winner.
I remember getting Dominos delivered to our ship in dock; and it was like getting freaking gold!! LOL
Newman’s Own has the the best frozen pizza imo. The first time I had it, it blew my mind 👌🏽
That thin crispy crust supreme is BOMB
Matt just makes me laugh. Nice job, man.
Tombstone is really good when it's cooked properly in a countertop pizza oven. Not as good in a regular oven.
When barstool sports argee with it's a sourthen thing on Jack's
F Jacks
No disrespect.
Tonys frozen pizza from the dollar general is the best
Hey little ceasers is really good lol don’t hate on it it’s good easpecially for $5
That’s not a frozen pizza
@@BANG_1771 He joked that it was frozen pizza was better than it.
I mean yeah, for $5 it's pretty good. If I want a cheap and quick pizza that is usually my go-to. But there are pizza chains that are so much better though. I'd rather have those.
@@ChibiPanda8888 It is pretty good especially if you are trying to feed a big family. It's not the best and honestly frozen pizza is a lot better sometimes 😂. But for the price and the convenient time it takes you can grab and go 😁 I eaten it a lot mainly because the price.
Little Caesar's is good for $5, but if you have more to spend you can definitely do better.
Uploaded 23 seconds ago?
I dont even see my own uploads this quickly! Thanks for eating all that pizza for us. 😆
It takes a lot to get me to laugh these days. I love this guy he is really funny
U need to have Home Run Chicago or something like that. Because i LOVE IT
