Do you agree with Leia reacting like this at first or would've you preferred another way?

I think Leia had a natural reaction to her father and what he did, I liked that eventually the forgiveness came from Leia to Anakin and I do believe he was watching over her

Leia's reaction to his ghost is completely justifiable given what she went through in episode 4. It is interesting to me that she never was able to see Vader turn to the light side while he was alive and I wonder if things would have been different if she saw that side of him.

I would think it would be different! She was never able to witness the same things that Luke saw.

@@VadersOrder I think it would be too. I hope in the new canon, that they have more interactions that become more positive over time, since the novel is legends.

Anakin wasn't there for Leia's forgiveness. He was there to try to help her alleviate her hatred and anger, since negative feelings are a path to the "dark side," as it was for him. Also, perhaps recognizing that she was more like him than Luke. Parents try to help their children become better people then they were. Particularly, if they recognize their own flaws in their children, and share the same type of temperament.

I agree.. that was a relatable reaction of her, and to see a scene like this in Episode 7, 8 or 9 as a flashback, that would have redeemed at least one of these movies.

This is a person who tortured both her and her later husband, kidnapped her, and then blew up her home planet! And then later finds out that he's her biological father! Force ghost or not... it makes 100% sense why she wouldn't forgive him so quickly. But if she remembers what Obiwan(following the Kenobi series) had told her very briefly, when she was a child, about what a good person Anakin was, she would probably forgive him easier.
This is a great explanation and hopefully they make it into a short... or a special or something. Live action would be best, but animation for would be great too.

Obi Wan: So how did it go?
    Anakin: The usual
    Obi Wan: That bad huh?
Anakin: Yeah, but I can't say I don't blame her.

Luke is a saint. Leia is what a realistic reaction would be. I’m for one glad that the new canon has her never reading some diary and suddenly forgiving him. It’s a cop out. Sometimes, your victims don’t forgive, and sometimes you have to just suck it up and deal with it. 🤷‍♀️
As the old saying goes: “God forgives… but I don’t! 😌”

I don’t get why he wouldn’t be able to talk to her again. Is there some force ghost rule book? How was Ben Kenobi able to speak and show up to Luke multiple times? Since they’re force ghost can’t they do anything?

Anakin's exact words to her were that the reason was that "times were changing." Still something we have a lot to learn about.

  • @timonsolus

Anakin should have offered Leia 3 things.
One - an apology. Not just for all his actions as Darth Vader, destroying Alderaan, and for torturing her and Han. But also for his failure as the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, and as her father.
Two - a confession. Anakin should have confessed to Leia that he'd had the opportunity to kill Chancellor Palpatine and prevent him from making himself Emperor in the first place, but failed to do so because he was weak in character, being selfish and afraid of loss, which caused his fall to the dark side.
(Had Anakin done his duty as a Jedi when Palpatine revealed to him his secret identity as Darth Sidious, and killed him then, the Empire would never have existed, and all its horrific crimes against the people of the galaxy would never have happened. The Jedi Order and the Old Republic would never have been destroyed. As a leader of the New Republic, Leia had the right to know the full truth of how the Empire came to be, because that knowledge might help prevent the same thing from happening again in the future.)
Three - her history. Anakin should have offered to tell Leia the name of her (and Luke's) biological mother, if she wished to know it - after telling Leia that her mother fell in love with the Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker, not with the Dark Lord Darth Vader.

Idt she was too harsh, but vader didn't blow up alderaan. That was tarkins call, vader thought it was a bad idea to do it

alot of people dont understand that vader only has "some" military pull, a little more after tarkins demise in 4, vader never outranked a grand moff, but he still just the emperors lapdog, leia says
“Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you holding Vader's leash. I recognized your foul stench when I was brought onboard.”

Compeltely justified but leia could've been a little more forgiving just basley of the fact that if it weren't for vader luke would be dead the emprorer would killed and tortured him AND if it weren't for vader I believe luke would've turned to the darkside so she should've been more lenient on him

Why should she forgive the man who held her captive, killed her de facto parents and the rest of her people and planet, just cause she is his biological daughter. In Leia’s eyes, Vader could be dead to her

And people say "Leia's like Anakin" And "Luke's like Padmè" You know what I'm so sick and tired of that whiney B.S (It's a bad word so I just said the first two letters) And I don't see ANY evidence of Luke being like Padmè and Leia being like Anakin Luke Skywalker is not just like his father Anakin and also in pilot and lightsaber skills and power of the Force but also in spirit And he represents what his father Anakin and the Jedi from The Old Republic and the Clone Wars should've been That's all

Well, I think personality wise, Leia is closer to Anakin and Luke is closer to Padme. For example, Padme knew there was good in Anakin when no one else believed it, just like Luke. That is a level of compassion and forgiveness that Luke and Padme share and Leia does not have. We also see Leia acting quite rash, like when Han and Luke are rescuing her and the Endor speeder chase for example. Luke and Leia are like both of their parents, it’s just that Luke has Padme’s heart while Leia has Anakin’s temper.
