Luke was probably more like Padme; forgiving and compassionate. Padme had faith in Anakin until the very end. Leia was more like Anakin; a leader and warrior. Her anger was something she held onto like Vader held onto his.

I feel Luke and Leia exhibited traits from both Prime and Anakin. Luke and were both rash (see ROTJ where Leia impulsively jumped on the speeder). However, Luke and Leia also had the compassion of Padme. Even when Luke was rehabbing after losing his hand he didn't act out towards Vader. This was right after being told Vader was his father. Luke didn't even want to confront Vader while simultaneously explaining to Kenobi that there was still good in Vader.
Children can share traits from both parents. Everyone seems to think its an either or situation. You have Luke and Lisa's upbringing into account. Luke's rash news stems from the fact he was being held back from his uncle. Leia was raised like royalty in a loving family. I am not saying Luke wasn't lived but based on the novels, I get feeling it wasn't easy. This would switch if Luke was brought to Alderman and Leia to Tattoine.

I myself really feel sorry for Leia. At least Luke got to know his father through Obi Won before he met Vader, Leia only knew Vader she and her husband was tortured by Vader. She lost friends and family because of Vader. It's an up hill battle if you can forgive someone who tortured your significant other. I can't say if I could or couldn't forgive Vader for torturing my partner. All I can say is it would take years+ for me to even come close to accomplishing that. For those who say Leia was wrong for not forgiving Anakin. Plus she wasn't raised as a jedi, so saying this is part of the dark side in her is unfair because she doesn't know how jedi don't hold attachments. How many of you could forgive someone who tortured you significant other or even your child if you was Leia.

You can't be serious, feel sorry for Princess Leia. She grew up as Princess of an entire planet, Alderon. Luke had to grow up on a desert planet of Tatooien controlled by the Gangsters The Hutts and had a bunch of retarded races like the tuskon raiders.

I feel for her too. There's a joke in one of the animated series about how there are very few women in Star Wars... "We should fix that next time," or something to that extent. Star Wars largely ignored women (specifically blondes for some reason? I noticed because I'm a blonde and I have been living in Star Wars since I was seven.) She was just - well - jipped. But later, it's clear that Lucas and Disney tried to remedy this by adding more women and actually giving them viable, story-turning roles. Not many blondes still... unless you count the ones whose blonde hair is covered up by silver First Order masks... but at least it's a step in the right direction. For what it's worth, Leia was trained as a Jedi according to the final movie, but gave it up to save her son and lead the rebellion. Still, I'm with you again - there's just not enough there for her. No connection. What strikes me as even more odd is that in Return of the Jedi, Luke asks her if she remembers her mother. Her reply is, "Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.... Just images really. Feelings.... She was... very beautiful. Kind... but sad." Obviously, Lucas hadn't yet decided that their mother would be Padme, much less that she would die in childbirth, and much much less that Anakin would be the one to off her - if it was him and not Palpatine. But she has memories of her nonetheless. So, why couldn't Lucas add something in later where she developed memories of Anakin as well? At the very least, she should have had "images and feelings" of his darkness, which would have backed up her not feeling close to him the way she did her mom. Honestly, I believe that Leia was stronger in the Force than Luke.

@@shadow-reign2274 Of course you can feel for Leia, sure she was rich and lived a life of luxury but to find out that everything bad that happened throughout the galaxy and to her parents and people, the rebellion, was all the result of her Father, Luke didn't witness as much as Leia did during the rebellion.

    • @shawnmotley1898
      @shawnmotley1898 2 года назад +10

Yeah but the pressure was on Luke to destroy the Sith. Leia witnessed many deaths at the hands of the Empire but she also had the love of a wonderful family.
Luke was on a desert planet in the middle of nowhere. Luke was the one to first bear the burden of Vader being his father. It was Luke who was almost killed by his father. It was Luke who was both pawn and potential target of Palpatine. It was Luke who geared the weight of the entire galaxy on his shoulders. If Luke didn't convert Vader, the Rebel forces would have lost.

It was Grand Moff Tarkin who ORDERED Vader to STOP choking, that officer who literally spoke condescendingly to what Vader was saying. It was Tarkin, who ordered the Death Star to destroy Alderan. Vader, appeared only to be the liaison officer between the Emporer Palpatine and the fleet. Which would amount to being a Commander or Captain to an Admiral in the NAVY.

I was always hoping Luke and Leia would have found out more about their mother in movies, Maybe they did after the Empire was defeated. Maybe they went to Naboo and sought out their maternal family members. Maybe they even got to see images of Padme. Would've been nice to see that on screen.

I think according to Legends, Luke and Leia after the Empire was defeated did learn about their mother and connected with their first cousins on Nauboo. Luke learned and obviously told Leia of what Anakin did to Padme on Mustafar through a recording from R2D2. Luke visited his mother's tomb too. I think through Shmi's diary and other clues they found eventually gave them the full story.

That scene in Episode VI, where Luke asked Leia if she knew HER mother, and all that was said, she WAS beautiful.
So that would mean, some time as Leia was growing up to adulthood in Alderan, the people she thought were her parents, either told her the truth about Padme, and/or showed her a picture, because she died in delivery; or Bail Antilles' wife was inferred to as THE MOTHER and was gone.
However, am a little confused about the Royalty angle, if Antilles was not a KING, and just a politician from Alderan, how did Leia become a PRINCESS?????

Seems to me that Luke was more like Padme, forgiving and compassionate. Padme had faith in Anakin until the very end, and Luke was the only one in the original trilogy to feel the good in Anakin/Vader. Not even Vader himself felt it. Leia was more like Vader, a leader and a warrior. Like Vader, she held on to her anger and allowed it to fuel her. Remember also that when Anakin's force ghost appeared to Leia, she had no knowledge of who Anakin was before he became Vader. Unlike Luke who had stories from Obi Wan and Yoda, Leia knew nothing. All she knew was Vader.

Maybe Anakin was quite like the incarnation of The Force itself. Jedi keep advicing "trust in The Force". Anakin had never had someone that actually believed in him, or trust him, except Padme and Shmi. So he attached deeply to her, so much that he almost lost his connection to the physical world when she turned away from him.
Watch carefully that the films change scenes between Anakin and Padme when Anakin is being reconstructed, when Padme whispers "there's good in him, I know there's, still..." then they show Vader rising from the operating table. It is like, his mere connection to the physical world was depending by Padme's faith in him. When her faith was crushed, so did Anakin's body and soul.
This faith towards him came back when Luke believed again in him, and TRUSTED him with his life. When Luke turned to his father saying "please" Anakin was restored. Somebody recognised him again, at last, somebody believed in him and trusted him.
It's really poetic if you see it. He cut off Windu's hand, and then he stood there, with no right hand as well, but at last righteous enough to do the right thing. He threw his darkness away, and with his darkness he ended the darkness in the universe, he brought balance.
"Tell your sister, you were right". Even with his last breath he reaches out for people to trust him. For his people to believe in him. I think that if Leia forgave him that time he was shown to her, he would be able to be with them in the physical realm whenever he wanted and whenever their children wanted. But, in the end, that was his punishment for the crimes he made. His daughter was so much like him that prevented him to be with the children he was so much deprived. And it was his fault.

Specifically noted is that the grand moff tarkin was the one man in the entire Imperial structure that Vader could not kill by the emperor's order, and I got the impression that unless the emperor notes otherwise, tarkin had the say on military choices like this. not saying vader couldn't have objected, but other than showing disagreement in the emperial high command to a rebel leader, what good would it have done?

I've always imagined what might happen if something happened to Luke and Leia had to confront Vader. I think Leia, who grew up with a father, who was in the Rebellion from the beginning, and who had a temper much like Anakin's, would have completed her training with Yoda, and wouldn't have hesitated to go to the Dark Side and kill Vader. However, I never see her joining the Emperor, especially once she learned that he was pulling Vader's strings. It's likely he would have killed her. So, I understand her reaction to Anakin's Force Ghost. Understanding who Anakin was gives her a completely different perspective of Vader. It's too bad that Anakin never saw Shmi's diary.
