@MMZERO9 Han has a lot in common with Anakin/Vader, great pilots, will go to hell for his friends/family, rough childhood/bad past, among other things. It's a shame imo we never got Hans thoughts on anakin and vader.
Thank you! The fact that you brought up The Truce at Bakura makes me happy because I haven't heard any of the other channels bring it up...and it's been on my mind lately. :)
MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT DARTH VADER IS A GREAT PERSON. TREMENDOUS. HUGE CROWD SIZES. BIGGEST CROWD FOR ANY SITTING GOD EMPEROR EVER. MAKE THE GALAXY GREAT AGAIN!!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
I’m reminded of a quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald “Whenever you feel like criticizing someone. Just remember that not everybody has had the same advantages you’ve had.” Leia needs to understand that Anakin didn’t have a lot of the advantages that she enjoyed growing up, that his life was fraught with emotional and physical trauma since he was a little boy. He was placed in a Jedi order that had become far too rigid and dogmatic to give him the emotional support that he needed. Palpatine’s manipulation and the trauma of the Clone War further pushed him towards the dark side. Leia had a stable, loving and supportive family, and financial support. Anakin didn’t have any of those things.
@@jmwilliamsart yeah, he grew up slave to a house fly on a slum planet in the middle of the desert. She grew up a princess on a lush garden planet and she’s so judgmental. I guess that’s why Luke understood him so much more
@jmwilliamsart It also comes from the fact that Anakin had always been a slave. Not just as a boy, but all his life as a Jedi and as a Sith. He never left that slave mindset he had as a boy. Almost everyone around him was a Master of some kind, and he was always the slave in his mind.
I love that Leia forgives Anakin for how he became Darth Vader. Learning that he wasn’t the evil man she always thought of him to be. In fact, Anakin wouldn’t slaughter the tuskens if Qui-Gon was still alive. Because things would have been different. And after that, she is going to name her third child after her father, Anakin Solo.
Great video. Very thorough and well researched. I love hearing these stories from Legends. I never read EU books and comics, and now they are not as easy to find (or affordable for me). So I appreciate that you took the time to create this content. Thank you!!
Tattooine Tales was just one part for Leia to learn about her biological Dad's upbringing but Canonical material "Blood Line" shows her encounter with Anakin's Force Ghost before taking the initiative to read Grandma Shmi's journal entries. As the book goes deeper , her enemies in the Senate used her relation to Vader to discredit her, but it would not work anymore!!!
Regardless of the reasons how or why, Owen had absolutely NO RIGHT to hide or get rid of Shmi’s gravestone. That was not his place to do so. He’s very lucky that Anakin or Luke had never found out due to his death. Imagine how he would feel if someone had removed his father’s gravestone without his knowledge or say so, I would imagine he’d be very upset about it. So why would he do that crap to someone else? That part always had rubbed me the wrong way.
@@Blackman1000ify I always got the feeling that Vader grew to hate the Lars. You can see the look of pure resentment and bitterness to Anakin when he came home with his mother’s body and the way he looked at them.
it's easy for them to say that a Jedi would never kill out of anger when they know almost nothing about the Jedi and Sith or their codes. I doubt they would have just walked away if the same had happened to their loved ones and likely they would have done what Anakin did. I hope this at least helped Leia to understand who Anakin was and how he struggled while other Jedi didn't understand what he went through
I love this book. The scenes with Leia learning about her father and her grandmother are so really good. I was surprised it didn't leave out Anakin massacring the Tuskens.
Anakin was indeed sorry 😞 on level. But not on another. Unfortunately it was the later t h at would eventually become his undoing😢 but at Leia learned the truth
The Legends/Lucas era really handled a lot of things far better than the Disney era. Even right down to Leia's thoughts and feelings towards Anakin, even coming to forgive him later after learning more about him.
I don’t get how she didn’t know anything about Anakin Skywalker. He was a Republic general and war hero of the clone wars. Nearly at the point of being a council level Jedi master. She wouldn’t have known about his life as a child, but all the good he did as a Jedi knight she had to have known.
When the Empire rose, they painted the Jedi as traitors and suppressed all history/records of the Jedi. Pretty soon nobody spoke about Jedi anymore. Leia knew what a Jedi was, but maybe Bail didn’t want to let her learn about the Jedi by name and stuff
If not mistaken at the time he couldn't as he is still with the Queen. Had the Queen not been there as a priority I imagine him "convincing" Watto to release her as well. The only sad truth is Padme did try to get Anakin's mother free later on but couldn't locate her. I was more pissed that the Jedi didn't even bother to try anything after Qui Gon's death.
I think Leia finally realized what set her dad on the path he was destined to never return from I think she what's her knowing that her dad had to lose his mother in the way and then knowing that it was the Tuscan raders that caused her death she probably realized that her dad do not think of Mercy but this is good knowing that she now knows Anakin was a hero and a good man but it was other events that set him on the dark path imagine what she would learn if she was to know about her dad's involvement in the bloody Battle of the clone wars
Ironic how Leia dismissed the idea of having children to avoid them possibly falling to the same dark fate as Anakin. And when she came to terms with her heritage, she would give birth to Jacen who down the line would eventually become Darth Caedus.
@@JediSimpsonyes, obviously they're the same person under the suit. But he was born Anakin Skywalker not Darth Vader. Darth Vader was just an identity that he was given and used to hide his true identity because he was ashamed and had fallen from the light. It's like Luke said in return of the Jedi: it is the name of your true self you've only forgotten. Also when Leia finally forgave him she saw him not as Darth Vader anymore but as Anakin Skywalker.
@alexbarron3831 Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader were the same person because Anakin turned to the Dark Side of the Force after The Death of his Mother and also because Emperor Palpatine was the cause of Anakin's turn
I don't tend to read books but the Tattooine Ghost novel I Read it 2 time's loved it especially reading Shmi Skywalker diary and them learning from Anakins childhood
It irritates me how little sympathy there is for Leia's situation. Obi Wan, Luke, Han didn't grow up in the shadow of Darth Vader, they knew of him from a distance. Leia's history goes back probably to her childhood as her parents were both high ranking politicians who most likely had close encounters with the empire, and Darth Vader. Not to mention out of all of them, Luke and Han, Leia lost the most. But so many seem to be reluctant to allow Leia to forgive on her terms. Honestly ghost Vader put more work into Ashoka than his own daughter.
It is hard for me to believe that there weren't former comrades alive, that could testify that he (anakin, not Vader) was a great Jedi and a war hero. As Obi-Wan was alive to tell Luke, there should have been hundreds of others that knew.
Anakin made mistakes & he paid for them with his life. In the end his life was priceless, because he died the person he always was: A Cunning Pilot, A Great Warrior, & a Good Friend... I'm glad Liea was able to see that❤️🩹 - R2... Play Interstellar by Logic ft. Lucy Rose
The fact that even Han was sympathetic to Anakin’s upbringing was a great touch.
Because he, too, experienced slavery. Perhaps if he hadn't met Chewbacca, he might have made similar choices as an imperial pilot.

I've seen the ones with Luke, but Leia and Han learning all this takes it to a new level. Great drop with Kitster at the end.
It was actually funny to see Han stepping up for Anakin at times lol
