I was 6 or 7 years old in 1977, when Star Wars came out. Luke Skywalker immediately became my hero. To this day he’s my hero. Why does Disney try to diminish him?

Luke like his mother had great empathy and patience yet focused and gallant. Yet, his sister like Anakin was bold and a passionate warrior. Luke found the balance of the two.
This is a great comment. I've always thought Leia was more like her mother and Luke like his father based on the paths they chose. Leia the politician, aristocrat, and fighter when she had to be, like Padme. But you're right, Luke's personality is much closer to his mother's and Leia acts like Anakin. Kind of mind blowing how real these characters and their lineages feel.

Hated the fact that they avoided the lord! Especially after I read all those damn books! Unforgivable given what they came out with was a bad of shat!
That would require good writers, as well as caring about the property and what the fans want. Disney is too busy hiring people based on their minority status to tell self insert stories to actually make anything good. Disney doesn't care about any of their properties. All they care about is using their near limitless money to brainwash the culture of the world into being progressive.

Immature, what did you expect them to do, remake heir to the empire with Harrison Ford pushing 80? They clearly had to pivot to a new direction, blame Lucas for not doing sequels instead of prequels first so he could take advantage of middle age and not senior citizen cast.
If Obi Wan had told Luke Vader was his father Luke may have rejected the idea of becoming a jedi.

By Telling Luke, Anakin was the best pilot in the galaxy, a cunning warrior, and loyal he inadvertently gave Luke three things to strive for and to be aware of when he finally faces Vader.

I was 10 when the Phantom Menace came out, and even then I thought Yoda was a complete hack. Seriously, him and his blind arrogance destroyed the Jedi. He is literally one of my least favorite and least respected characters in any franchise. Qui-Gon should have been in charge.

I grew up with Star Wars around me. I was not a big fan, but my best friend was a massive fan. I was exposed to the movies of the original trilogy many times over years. Then I saw the first two prequels in the when I was in Grade 8 and the Second one with the second one with my same friends; one of them was especially excited, knowing we would see Yoda fight.

I watched RotJ in 1992 at the age of 9 ... the scene on the death star with the mechanical hand. For years i feared the idea of a Vader that will turn you into him if you kill him in joy. Somehow the idea came from a friend of mine. Not what really happened but years later i came across the saying "if you stare in the dark the dark stares back at you" . Those films were masterpieces :)

Til this day it still confuses me how he died in episode 8 by force projection? Disney ruined Luke Skywalker the most pathetic episodes 7,8, and 9, yet they decided to kill Luke off the main character in the starwars universe.
I believe the explanation is that the exertion of Force-projecting himself across the galaxy made him die and become one with the Force. I'm not a fan of the Sequels so I haven't read the novelizations of them or anything

Brilliant work, loved this. Just one comment from me regarding when Luke summons the lightsaber in the throne room. The text may indicate he went to strike the Emperor but it's definitely not filmed that way so you were right in what you thought, I did too. His eyeline is on Vader and he strikes down in front of him. His body is faced toward Vader. Had they wanted to show a strike towards the Emperor the angles would be different, Luke's body would be facing more towards Palpy & Vader's saber would be blocking a diagonal blow. I'm assuming the novelisation came out after and they changed it as it makes more sense he'd try to take the Emperor out. Either that or they just really messed up the shooting of that scene! What do you think?

I knew EU Luke (I refuse to acknowledge Disney EU) was powerful but damn I wasn't expecting a god among men!
I would love it if a group of rebel filmmakers would take on the empire (Disney) and redeem the Luke Skywalker character from the evil Sith Lord Kathleen Kennedy.

I gotta admit that in Star Wars my favorite character is Boba Fett.
In the original films I think that his was a character that never truly got the screen time it deserved.
Which was why I was interested to see Disney do a Boba Fett series.
After watching the episodes I felt that much could have been done by Disney to tell his story better. But was glad to see that Boba had survived and finally grown into a more decent person, being redeemed in his own unique way, by his own unique experiences.

I was slightly surprised your time-line jumped back and forth a little. However, with so many clips, I understand the extra time it would have taken to put them in sequential order. All in all I was not disappointed watching this till the end. If only certain egos and agendas hadn't prevented fans of the story from receiving a better sequel trilogy. One can only hope that someday someone will do better. You did well with this. So at least we have this. Thank you. 🫡

I believe this was how Luke found balance between the light side, and the dark sides of the force. That he knew each side had its pit falls, but according to lore, this was why he knew that every Jedi had to encounter the dark side, but remain untempted. Even Yoda did that, it makes me wonder why Yoda continued the traditions of the Jedi, knowing it would fail?
Once Luke realizes that he was falling to the Dark Side at the end of his duel with his father, he chose not to and then realized that he was one step closer to beating the Emperor. Like playing the winning hand at Chess:
Check: by throwing his saber away, he showed the Emporer that he wasnt going to fight, to fall to the Dark Side, but to now become a Jedi Knight. Now the Emperor had to make a decision that he did not foresee. Now the Emperor had no choice but to punish Luke with Force Lightening, infront of his father.
Checkmate: knowing that there was still good in Vader, Luke would let the Emporer punish him with Force Lightening, calling out to "Anakin". By the possibility of reaching in to Anakin, he would be able put the final end to the Emperor's plans. Not falling to the Dark Side, and by pulling Anakin back out, he would remove the Emperor's right-hand-man in both of them. Allowing Anakin to not get revenge, but redemption against the Emperor.
Game.
So, when people say Luke didnt do anything in defeating the Emperor, but Vader did, Luke did play the master hand. He converted a pawn into the powerful weapon for checkmate, as only Anakin's son could. Master-Class play by Luke.

I was watching empire the other day and it dawned on me to wonder why Luke didn’t just slay the wompa and stay inside of the cave for shelter to protect him from the icy temperatures and freezing winds? He just cut off its arm and bailed into the freezing cold when he should have killed it, skinned it and tanned it with his saber to make a coat/blanket and stayed in the cave where it’s probably 10x warmer lol
In his first fight with Vader.
Could the shock of Anakin having just severed his own sons hand from his body have caused Anakins mind to momentarily overcome the Vader persona long enough to tell Luke the truth of his parentage, right before the evil persona that was Vader took over again and used that revelation to taunt or try and sway his son to join the Dark Side?

I'm glad I came across this video so we can have this platform The grandmaster Skywalker that we learn to love in the fate of the Jedi 10 book series was the all-powerful Luke they should have displayed in the movies it's a tragedy that our Luke Skywalker had to be portrayed that way in the films and die of exhaustion
One question I have is his green kyber crystal. In one story he changes a clear crystal to green. In another, the crystal is synthetic. Which is it or what am I missing int he chain of events?
In canon, he bonds with a raw Kyber crystal and it turns green. In Legends, he forges his own synthetic crystal. Canon and Legends are two different continuities, with "Canon" being considered the main or "real" continuity by Lucasfilm
Youd think he would have started to modify or swap out parts while Palpatine was away.....the entire first movie for example. I mean, setup the leg or arm before hand. Then have it done while you are sending probe droids out to find luke, or right after you capture the Tantive IV and before you tractor beam the Falcon.
Have a new helmet built, armor for your arms for mobility. A new chest plate could be made and then have backwards compatibility with the inputs...that just happens to dissipate electricity back on its source.
As I grew up: I had more respect for Legends Luke Skywalker because he didn't foolishly disregard the Dark Side and even allowed his Jedi to learn from it. It never made sense to me that Jedi couldn't use the Dark Side without losing themselves to it. Probably why I put Legends over G Canon any day of the week.

To understand why he threw away the lightsaber is to understand that the chosen one is the only one who can destroy the Sith as the Sith are the ones who destroy. All that happened could only happen the way they did and Luke realizing his place in it means he knew it was not within his power to destroy destruction but that of the Sith.

If I wanted to start reading Luke books where would I start ? I've read the prequels and the OT and would love to read about Luke
OK to be honest I think he could have still done what he did in Return of the Jedi he could have just put his Lightsaber back on his hip in theory he could have still faced the Emperor and told him he failed at least after all was said and done he would still have his Lightsaber even after he got Anakin off the 2nd Death Star before it blow up from what Lando had done inside the space Station he would not have had to create another LS after that moment in his life but that is my Opinion and I have been a fan of the Franchise since I seen the first movie even had collected almost all the 5 sets of cards except one card from the Red Set but my Grandma decided to throw them away cause she thought they was a waste of money in the first place and used the lie that they had been Damaged but I knew better since i had them stored in zip lock Freezer bags and in a small cooler that protected them from a Fire and the Water the fire fighters used to put out the flames but that is the past and i doubt I will ever be able to get a 2nd chance at collecting them a 2nd time

They had the technology. Every character that died could of been cloned from Padme to to poor Porkins.
Imagine a clone army made from Luke, or Anakin. Instead of Jango Fett. Kenobi took Jango out with ease.
The content was captivating. However I'm sure that Return of the Jedi speaks about Anakin's Return from the dark side to the light side. As the Prophecy says he will defeat the Sith as Anakin did when he threw the Emperor over the rail.
