Luke was privileged in regards to not having the dogmatic religion imposed on him by the jedi council.
Anakins insecurities where affirmed at a young age by the jedi council, he then had a teacher who was not aligned to manage his overwhelming need for reassurance to satisfy his need to prove everyone wrong, that he is worthy.
Luke and Anakin are similar and as it's hard to say if he would have turned out the same as anakin giving the same circumstances, the fact remains Luke as great as he is had a much more privileged jedi training process and learning from a balanced methods in the means of grand master yoda & a wiser Obi wan who had learned from the mistakes he made with anakin giving Luke an unfair advantage if your to compare the 2.

The big thing was because Palpatine groomed Anakin, he was kind of alone and didn't really have any true friends outside of the Jedi aside from Palpatine, and Palpatine took full advantage of it. Luke, on the other hand, wasn't alone. He had family and friends from all walks of life who had his back, who supported him if he struggled, friends who could pull him back if he turned to the darkside.

Luke had a loving father figure so Palpatine couldn’t manipulate him by means of being a friend and father figure like he did with Anakin and Luke always knew that Palpatine was evil, they never had a bond that Palpatine and Anakin had. Luke had all of Anakin’s strengths but lacked Anakin’s biggest vulnerabilities.

Anakin was basically heartbroken and discouraged by his best friends, his wife, and the Jedi. Luke, on the other hand, Luke was respected by his friends and Jedi. He never had a issue with anyone and never felt manipulated or betrayed.

    • @QockNobblr
      @QockNobblr 8 месяцев назад +40

@@TheMail518in a more philosophical sense; Luke represents the Re-birth of anakin, Vader represents all of anakin's weak points. Padme died in childbirth and when she died, Vader was truly born, when Luke and Leia were born. Luke carries with him, anakin's legacy. Anakin was the chosen one, but did not realize the prophecy by himself, he was only able to with the help of his son. Because Luke was alive, a small piece of anakin's soul was alive as well, which allowed him to come back; if only for a moment at the end.

Anakin was always a whiny little mama's boy, Luke was raised by his aunt and uncle in a stable environment. Palpatine never had a chance to manipulate Luke, and chances are Luke would have looked up how his mother died after finding out Vader was Anakin. So he would have realized Palpatine manipulated Vader and would have prepared himself to face the Emperor, that's why he seemed so detached when he surrendered to Vader in Return of the Jedi.

What did Palpatine really know about Luke as a person? He was able to learn and exploit Anakin's fears. Luke was a powerful but completely unknown entity trained by Obi-Wan and Yoda. Palpatine found one weakness in Luke's attachment to his friends. However, he completely missed Luke's feelings for the father he unconditionally loved and yearned to know all his life.

Makes sense. A New Hope showed that growing up Luke idolized his father. He was told all of his life that his Dad was a hero.
So in the Throne room all of these emotions go through Luke. Ending with Luke throwing down his saber, refusing to kill his father, his hero. And in the end Luke got to see the hero that his father was that he knew from growing up.

Palpatine had likely experienced visions that would have indicated just how immensely powerful Luke would become and that his power would surpass his own. He may have foreseen a possibility that Luke would not only seek to revive the Jedi Order, but to do so with amendments that would eliminate the previous issues that afflicted it's predecessor, namely the following of Revan's philosophy that having loved ones actually strengthened their connection to the Light Side, contrary to the assertions of other Jedi.
Ultimately, Luke would use techniques and ideas that would bring the Jedi back more to the way of the original Je D'aii, who learned both light and dark in balance, thus giving them greater power and dominion within the Force, and Palpatine may well have seen some of this and rightly crapped himself at the concept.

True, but I would put credits down on that Vader, if he failed to convert Luke, knew he could use Luke's sister's anger to help push her into the dark side. Remember anger is the pathway and she definiltey had a lot of anger, for Vader.
Leia might consider being a sith the only way to kill Vader and get her revenge. Thus of course becoming a sith master herself - the very thing she hates.
Since every sith knows their apprentice will ultimately either die or overthrow them, it's useful to train dark jedi. Best your own pupil become a sith master by overthrowing you than by some other means... Rule of two.

The irony of all of this and why I liked luke so much as a character (and absolutely loathed what they did to him in the movies) is that his greatest strength was always his hope. Luke is literally the most hopeful character in the starwars universe. To the point it inspired everyone around him, even his father. Even when everyone around him was telling him otherwise he never gave up on vader. And in the legend books they lean on that even more, with allowing anyone to be trained even if there was a risk of them turning to the darkside and causing harm later. There was always that hope that him and people around him could over come it. The movie idea of him giving up on a student and even entertaining the possibility of killing him was absolutely ludicrous. And probably the biggest sign that no one who wrote these movies so much as even picked up a starwars EU comic, let along a novel.

Sincerely, Luke being a bitter old man full of regrets, after seeing his life's work destroyed by his own nephew and seeing that despite all sacrifices he and his comrades made to free the galaxy of the Empire, there would still be people inclined to support that dark path, to me is be far more understandable than he still being naive at old age. Much like Yoda and Obi-Wan Luke had to overcome his sorrows and come around his own failures and accept that he was wrong, that he isn't the one meant to keep things moving anymore, that his role was to open the door to the new generation. That is about the only thing Disney got right in my opinion.
The feat of power Luke showed at the end is astounding, not because he could project a massive force illusion halfway across the galaxy, but the ilussion was powerful enough that even C3PO, a Droid registered Luke's presence in his sensors, as did all the First Order's walkers and ship's sensors. We never seen a Jedi being able to fool a droid's sensors with the Force before. And with that he shot his legend to unbelievable levels, inspiring a new generation of heroes to keep the flame of peace and justice burning.
But pretty much all the rest of Disney work on the sequels is pure and utter garbage.

This video lacks context. Although not stated I am confident that the novelization this video comes from the ROTJ, came out BEFORE THE PREQUELS. And the reason this is so important is because once Mr. Lucas fleshed out how much training going into a single Jedi, it fundamentally changes how we should perceive Luke's training. Believe it or not, Luke receives roughly 3 months of training from Jedi Masters and undergoes 12 months self-taught from books without any force ghosts to guide him. Thus, Luke beat Vader and threatened Palpatine not on experience or skill but sheer raw power. Luke had less training than Padwan Obi-wan from Epsiode 1 TPM and less training than Anakin in Episode 2 AOTC. Indeed, Luke even had less training than even Rey from TROS, who spent 13 months training with Leia. And yet, Luke beat Vader in a fair battle. The same Vader with decades of experience, who cut down Masters who also trained for decades. And this comes from Lucas himself, not Disney. So if Luke had so little training and experience, why should Palpatine fear hil at all? Sadly, why the prequels is my favorite era, it also threw a metaphorical wrench into the OT as Luke is now the poster child for "training not needed to beat a Sith Lord.". LMAO 🤣

Luke while being assailed by force lighting cries out "Father!"
This snaps Anakin out of the Emperors Thrall. Suddenly, as if a spell is broken, he's just a normal dad seeing his kid being roasted in front of him. His and his beloved Padmes kid. He suddenly feels that old hurt again that he'd locked away so deep inside and more, what a Father feels for child. Then he does what any real father does when his son is being hurt. He removes the threat. In this case by weathering the storm and casting the Emperor into the abyss.

I haven't dug too deep into EU but on accident or on purpose, it seemed like Luke also took on the will of Qui-Gon. By Return of the Jedi it looked he was following the will of the force and eventually redeemed Vader as Qui-Gon could have saved him, before the fall, had he lived. Which makes the treatment of Luke in the sequels even worse.

This lack of continuity in the sequel trilogy with the original trilogy is one of many reasons why I greatly dislike the Disney abominations.
The emperor, Vader and the empire had wiped out the 10000’s of jedi in the Jedi order. Then Luke comes along starts training and he’s so powerful that he causes such a disturbance in the force that the first time we saw the emperor on the screen was in the ESB, to warn Vader of this GREAT DISTURBANCE caused by Luke who is so powerful that he’s not to be trifled with. That he could destroy them all.
Then Disney comes along and not understanding, appreciating Luke. They admitted that they didn’t know how to write for his character it was decided to turn him into some run of the mill Jedi.

It is known that "Fulcrum", one of the Rebellion's greatest assets, was Ahsoka, the former Padawan of Anakin. While we also know that she was "stuck" in the world between worlds around the time of the Battle of Yavin, as far as I am aware, we do not know when she actually rejoined this reality. (It certainly had to have been near, possibly right after, the Battle of Endor.) In any case, I am curious to know what her thoughts were when she first learned of Luke and his accomplishments; putting the kahosh on Project Stardust (quite succinctly), and the redemption of Anakin, to name the top two.

There is another aspect at play here, and that is that Luke was absolutely _NOT_ a conventional Jedi. Either Yoda or Obi-Wan taught Luke to "force-choke", or Luke learned it on his own, but he used it against the piggy-guards in R.O.T.J. in Jabba's palace. On the one hand, it meant that maybe Luke had a foot in "the dark side", but more likely, it meant that Luke had already been confronted with his dark-side 'test', and had already made his decision. It meant that he would probably not fail it on the second time, either.

Before Disney destroyed Star Wars and especially Luke, Luke beat Darth Vader. But he one upped them because he had the sight to see what outcomes would be. That, I think, was his strongest asset knowing the future and how to playthings out. By showing mercy and not killing Dath Vader, he proved the light side is more powerful, knowing Palpatine would react is a cowardly way and his hate for Skywalkers blood line, Luke exposed the emperor's fear and the Dark sides weakness to the light side of the force, and it drove Darth Vader to killing the emperor, as Luke had foreseen. The emperor defeated himself. Just as Darth Vader killed obi won, obi, telling him he will be more powerful after Darth strikes him down, was able to guide and teach Luke. The dark side never understood or always dismissed the light side, that was their downfall, not understanding the true power of the light side of the force.

Luke is cool headed, it takes a threat to his sister to temporarily, something that would put most brothers into a killing rage but he gets even that under control. Palpatine hadn't met a jedi like Luke before, completely independent and unbreakable in his resolve. Based upon canon from the original six movies and books/media prior to 2012, as soon as he was made aware of Luke's existence, the Emperor knew he was a potential threat. By bringing Luke to the Death Star, he was overconfident on both his power over the force, his influence over Vader and he underestimated Luke's abilities. He thought he could pit son against father and either way he'd win.

...while Luke motions with his hand as if doing a mind trick. Not that Vader would succumb to a mind trick or even need to encouragement to betray Sidious.

I like that this video mentioned he was a Skywalker and some things come more natural to him, but that's as far as they went in the this jedi is more powerful than that jedi game. With the video shifted focus to Palpatine's concern about Vader replacing him and then realizing that Padme had had Anakin's son and he was becoming a jedi - it really did become a race at that point. It's less about Luke's power as a jedi, and more about him and his father working together to defeat and usurp him. Because even if Luke wasn't aware of how the Sith work, Vader certainly was and he knew what had happened to Palpatine's other apprentices.
