I 've always thought that George was the secret key in the group. He had a middle voice low tone, very unusual and very hard to duplicate. He was always in the voice background. You always wondered WHAT A NICE CHOIR, That was George setting up the tone. As a lead singer he put that sweet voice of a young man. Without him , the beatles wouldn't sound the same.
I am 57.............so I was very young listening to the 4 gods. But., I can't agree more. John and Paul were really talented, BUT, I was sort of drawn to George, even as a child. I think he was the mojo behind them. Just love every one of them. and the role each shared in the magic. I LOVE them. They will always be part of me. CAuse that's just how it's going to go.
Modern guitar bands don't use autotune, it's usually dance acts who do it, I've never heard any band on Radio X or Absolute Radio do it ( UK radio stations).🎸
In Cynthia's book about John she describes walking along the street with John, Paul and George and them sitting down on the pavement together and that was the first time she heard those 3 voices in harmony and how the hair stood up on the back of her neck. Wish I'd been there, but these old recordings are as close as we can get to that moment.
Jeeeeez! We are sooooo lucky to have a group like The Beatles to enjoy. They were without a doubt, the absolute greatest musical group that ever lived. Also, hats off to the great George Harrison. It's all like a miracle!
Brilliant song...l am in the Hare krishnas..we all love George as he is our hero... Hare krishna George..l hope one day l will meet you in the spiritual sky...
The Beatles was the only band I know that you could just relax and listen to it’s very soothing and relaxing music and the music just go on and on every one an adventure and a story.
I remember something George said once, I think it was "... Paul was the cuddly one, Ringo was the lovely one, John was the shouty one, and I was the quiet one, but I've been the same all this time, I talk when I feel like it and I shut up when I don't... feel like talking..."
Oh my God George it was absoulutely beautiful so was your voice it overpowered the drums even. What I love about you is your a Beatle you always was and is and will be, no one can sing like you, no one can write a song like you, no one can even publish a song like you, You may not be Paul Mccartney or as popular as Shawn Mendes is now but dont let anybody tell you any different your one of my favorite people in the world your amazing your the angel that knocked The Devil out of my heart with your wing under any circumstances its not different. You know what I think Elvis is the king but your the god of rock and roll.
The BBC sessions consisted of the Beatles playing live just going thru their catalog at the time. It shows how great they were live (thanx Hamburg!!!) and how they sounded almost exactly like their records. No overdubbing, no pitch correctors, relatively crappy audio systems, and PURE TALENT!!! RIP John and George....
***** Oh Spiny Norman, I'm so glad I fueled a spark in your meager little troll brain. If you did a dance, that means you actually left your chair today! Good for you!
Maybe the best song that George had a chance to sing lead in. It sure was when I was 14 in 1964. After hearing that I knew that George was just as good a singer as Paul and John was.
O'h I remember those other great songs George sang lead in and many more, but when the DJ's played DEVIL IN HER HEART in 1964 and emphasised that George is singing lead it made a great impression in my soul then and I still feel it today. Plus you have to admit that those two back up singers two guys by the name of John and Paul backed up George very beautifully in this song. This is George Harrison at his greatest!
TAXMAN - DON'T BOTHER ME - I NEED YOU - ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN - PIGGIES - FOR YOU BLUE - PIGGIES - BLUE JAY WAY - WITHIN YOU AND WITHOUT YOU - IF I NEEDED SOMEONE ECT. ECT.
Nope. It's actually one of the weakest. But on the other hand, there's Taxman, Within You Without You, If I Needed Someone, Here Comes the Sun, Something, The Inner Light, It's All Too Much, etc.
The success of the Beatles is really simple in fact You gather 2 geniuses one fantastic guitar player and one great drummer player and there we go we have the best band in history
Just a big THANK YOU for posting this. It's vintage early Beatles. I love the more relaxed and emotional way George sings this (than on the album) - listen to those "no, no, no's," and "says she loves me SO...."
He's got the devil in his heart....but his eyes they tantalize....he's gonna tear your heart apart....oh his lips they really thrill me....I'll take my chances....for romance is....so important to me....he'll never hurt me....he won't desert me....he's an angel sent to me....
2:06 I don't know why, but George's voice on that one lyric to me sound's so sweet, soft, and nearly heartbreaking. The voice of guy who truly believes what he feels in his heart in spite of the opposition telling him otherwise. Gets to me every time I listen. Or maybe I'm just a wishy washy daydreamer, who can tell? Lol.
I figured there was half-a-chance you knew. It's just that this is one of my fav early Beatles songs, and they made it sound so much like their own song that people whose knowledge isn't deep might never guess it's a cover. Don't you wish you'd written this song.? I sure do!

Josem6768 you are absolutely correct. I never realized just how important George's voice was to the group until i heard this about a week ago.
I tottaly agree! 🤘
I am 57.............so
I was very young listening to the 4 gods. But., I can't agree more. John and Paul were really talented, BUT, I was sort of drawn to George, even as a child. I think he was the mojo behind them. George's voice is like a cure for every sorrow. I could listen to him 24 hours a day :)
George has always had a beautiful voice
Bre Shelley I've always thought so, too. He also had the strongest Liverpudlian/Scouse accent. I think it was super charming
George had a good voice
real singing sounds like this... no autotune! Pure magic...
This music is SOOO IRREPLACEABLE!
Love the harmony
Not many examples of George singing lead, backed by those other guys ... and this one is FABULOUS!!!!!!
Modern guitar bands don't use autotune, it's usually dance acts who do it, I've never heard any band on Radio X or Absolute Radio do it ( UK radio stations).🎸
George with the smokey voice. Always loved to hear him singing ❤️
George was so lucky to have 2 of the best backup singers in rock history
And the rest were super lucky to have him!
so was paul on you won t see me?
George is very cool. I miss him.
We all do! ^-^
Happy Just to Dance with You is probably my favorite Beatle song...sung by Sir George !
miss him, miss him, miss him
One of my favorite early tunes sung by George....I will never stop missing him : (
Is it really George? For years listening to this song on our cassette tape I thought it was John.
George lead vocal, yes, without question.
The older I get, the more I love this.
My sweet George has always been so underrated.
R.I.P. GEORGE,AMAZING VOICE,AMAZING GUITARIST,AMAZING PERSON AND FRIEND!!!
R.I.P. George,amazing singer,guitarist and lovely person. :(
In Cynthia's book about John she describes walking along the street with John, Paul and George and them sitting down on the pavement together and that was the first time she heard those 3 voices in harmony and how the hair stood up on the back of her neck. Wish I'd been there, but these old recordings are as close as we can get to that moment.
Wow I'd like to read her book sometime.
Better actually, their voices were always touched up in the studio
Great Story Joan Thomas .. Really Great !!!!

I like that George is in the lead in this song.
I remember something George said once, I think it was "... Paul was the cuddly one, Ringo was the lovely one, John was the shouty one, and I was the quiet one, but I've been the same all this time, I talk when I feel like it and I shut up when I don't... feel like talking..."
Alex Coleman George didn't get the credit he deserved
George is my angel sent to me.
You need God Jesus Christ not a beatles singer they are just people
George deserved wayyy more singing time
Oh my God George it was absoulutely beautiful so was your voice it overpowered the drums even.

You know what I think Elvis is the king but your the god of rock and roll.
Some of their early music and vocals are ingenuously their best.
He was very talented and handsome
Utterly stunning. My mum knew them well ...
Happy birthday George. We miss you :(
Awwww, babby George
George's voice
I love You My Sweet George...The Beatles 4Ever!!!!

This one of my favorite early Beatle songs.
George was an angel sent to us :D
World's coolest man.
My uncle Rick wrote this song for the Detroit girl group, the Donays..I hear the opening chords and I always get the chills!
Devil In His Heart (the original gender) was written for the Donays by Richard Drapkin who most likely is this woman's uncle, you nitwit.
***** Nice! You sound like such a nice, normal, happy guy. Let's be friend IRL.
***** Oh, please help me be a better person! I want to be just like you one day -- an angry little internet troll.
Wow, you burned me so badly! My day is ruined. Nay, my entire life. Oh Norman.
***** Oh Spiny Norman, I'm so glad I fueled a spark in your meager little troll brain. If you did a dance, that means you actually left your chair today! Good for you!
Never heard this version until now, and I must say: I love it!
One of my absolute fav..Beatles songs,.....couldn't care less who still likes them, I love them.
Classic George Harrison, what a talent.
Talk about early Beatles fabtastic harmonies!
George on lead vocals, John and Paul on harmony.
One of the Beatles best song. Just my opinion for what it's worth

all these pictures of george are adorable
Maybe the best song that George had a chance to sing lead in. It sure was when I was 14 in 1964. After hearing that I knew that George was just as good a singer as Paul and John was.
There were more: Do you want to know a secret. What is life? Just to Dance. Something. Here comes the sun. A few of the early ones that he sang.

We all have different music tastes and opinions. At the time in 1964 I was blown away by this song. It was George at his best in my opinion.
Exquisite harmonies in this song!
George is so underrated! It's so hard to compete with John and Paul ....George was great!
The way the Beatles evolved from the early pop records was impressive but these early songs were brilliant as well.

Just a big THANK YOU for posting this. It's vintage early Beatles. I love the more relaxed and emotional way George sings this (than on the album) - listen to those "no, no, no's," and "says she loves me SO...."
