As a musician who’s performed on many stages, this footage proves that the Beatles were one of the tightest, most cohesive units of all time musically. Unreal how good they were together.
I read in the book Outliers that In 1960, when the Beatles were still a high school rock band, they were given the chance to travel to Hamburg, Germany and play in various strip clubs. The Beatles were contracted to play for hours every night, seven nights a week, and thereby were forced to develop as musicians. After a year and a half, they had performed 270 nights. By 1964, when they first found commercial success, they had performed an estimated twelve hundred times-more than most band bands do in an entire career.
Even on the rooftop in Jan 1969, they had their shit together, more than less. I wept tears of joy watching the rooftop concert in Get Back. The Beatles are the reason I became a guitarist 48 years ago.

Now I’m an old man… But I still get a good feeling when I watch videos like this.
These girls were not screaming just because others were screaming. Twenty and thirty year old mothers in their home were not singing and dancing in front of the TV because other mothers down the street were. My God don't you people remember what it was like then? These girls and women who were at the concerts or watching TV were hanging on every word and expression the Beatles were making. What you're seeing and hearing is true love for a band and an experience that had never been seen before or ever again. Young or old, we all felt like we knew them and cared about them. Still do.
"Now give me money, that's what I want. You never give me your money, you only give me your funny paper. People say you've got it made, don't they know we're so afraid. Sue me, sue you."

In summary, the world of pop music (a pretty big world) was ready for something new (in fact was slightly past due for it) and the Beatles were ready with that new something George Martin said it: *"Their time was just right. They didn't pick their time; something picked it for them."* What the Beatles deserve much credit for is *being ready* for that moment.
Even John’s Aunt Mimi liked some of the Beatles songs in spite of her best efforts not to. I think in her interview after John’s death, she said that her favorite song was A Hard Day’s Night. Not what you would’ve expected from the curmudgeonly old lady who told John that he would never make a living with the guitar haha. Their music really did have the power to universally effect everyone.
Definitely the most universal and magical band around. This new age does not seem to recognize the magic sometimes. But most any one...they know...the Beatles were IT. The pinnacle of musicianship performance and the "universal note". There will never be another collective of that groundbreaking stature. The timing was just TOO good with everything.
From She Loves You through to The long and winding road, they took rock n roll to new creative heights of excellence, in a recording career that lasted less than a decade. Four guys, with three of the greatest songwriters in recording history. 27 number one hits over 7 years, ladies and gentlemen, the greatest rock band of all time. THE BEATLES.
If u have a keen ear you might notice that sound of the audience seems to repeat over and over and sometimes louder, like it was mixed together. In the video it seems a normal audience, and there’re a lot of parts repeated too, from the best takes. I’m not a hater, I like the Beatles. But I like to know the truth as well.

@@harrylastinger3541 I loved watching "The Beatles" in the 1960s when I was a young girl. Paul McCartney was by far my favorite Beatle! I have always hated rap "music!" I call it "rap crap!"
Oh to be in that audience for THAT show! "I Want To Hold Your Hand", their first US number 1 hit, was recorded Oct 17 and released on Nov 29. This incredible fan club show happened barely a week later! Songs we've heard a million times over are brand new and fresh to this audience--wow. Most amazing of all is how fresh their music STILL sounds today, it'll always be timeless. I say it again: The Beatles are the top of the mountain. They created modern rock and roll. Quite simply the best band of all time.
Early Beatles were just slightly before my time. I was 2 years old in '63 but growing up I never really appreciated them. Now I am absolutely amazed by their songwriting and musicianship. I can't get enough of these old clips. They truly were revolutionary for that time. I'm a late blooming Beatles fan.
Beatles are the great musicians of the whole world that nobody could surpass their performance. They are my idol since 17 and now i'm already 67 years old.
I can remember watching them as they played She Loves You and when Ringo started on the drums I thought my head was going to explode. What fantastic days!
I’m in my early teens and discovered the Beatles around 2 years ago. They really are a wonderful band with timeless music. I just cant get enough of them and so far haven’t found a band that’s had so much impact on my music taste and life! Too bad I wasn’t able to experience their active music career
Damn, they were good live. No lip syncing. They could really play. Greatest band of all time. Every band was influenced by the Beatles at some point in their careers.
I really appreciate Ringo's perfect application of his drumming to the compositions. Leaving the right space at the right time in each of the songs. It takes a lot of discipline to not overplay and just embellish the tunes in just the right way. Ringo is a very underrated drummer and shows his strengths here with properly placed fills and patterns. Right on Ringo!
You're way ahead of most others your age because you're here and can appreciate it. I've been a musician since I first heard them at the age of 4. No lie. ▶🔊⚽▶
@Cray Fishe You know less than nothing. They wrote 830 songs between them. Who do you like, Led Zeppelin (79 songs)? The Jonas brothers? The Rolling Stones are the only group to rival them in output and diversity of music. They were, and are, the greatest band that ever drew breath. As Hippocrates said, "Life is short and art is long." They broke up nearly 50 years ago, and they live on and will, long after we and they are gone.
@Cray Fishe If you don't see the brilliance in George writing the Till There Was You solo at 18 you're crazy .... But then again why do I even bother trying with another nobody literally criticizing the most famous and best musicians ever.
@Cray Fishe Sorry, Cray, you missed out on one of the greatest things mankind has ever produced, and I mean EVER!! And yeah, they were and are much greater than Jesus.
Imagine 1963 and 17 years later I was just born..my dad told me that he really liked The Beatles and said this music band has created a phenomenon in music at that time 🎼
Perhaps the most influential and iconic band of all time. Very few people alive have not been touched by these guys in some way, even people who don't like them. Growing up I didn't see what the hype was was more into the hair bands like Van Halen and White Lion, but as an adult and a musician I came to appreciate them more. They laid the foundations and groundwork for a lot of my childhood favorite bands I grew up with even though they were before my time.
Look at George at 3:57 during the song "Money", he does the most adorable little dance for about 5 seconds ...you can really see he's having fun and loving this song!
The best ever. Often imitated, never duplicated. They came they conquered and they left their mark on this world forever. There isn’t anyone that doesn’t look up to The Beatles.
I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan for the first time when I was six. I'm a big fan of their music. Looking back at at all this with girls screaming in waves and them passing out all over the place puts all of it into positive. A Tsunami Of Greatness Were The Beatles.🍎🎸
No other band had power over the audience like the Beatles. I was born early 70s and remember listening to the Beatles and still till this day consider them to be the greatest band ever.
Growing up in the 90s was exactly the same...No cell phones until very late in the decade, and computers were used just to play minesweeper, solitaire, and write school assignments...Vinyl was still around, and great music was all over the place.
@The Pessimistic Physicist I love my computer, but if I had to choose, I would go back to the 60's. We had an imagination and could think for ourselves.

Why'd the girls scream? Because the Beatles had an overwhelming cuteness factor. Add to that the music, the words to the songs, the harmony singing and the haicuts and it made us all a little crazy.
Yeah, but I still think the screaming is annoying. And I say this as someone who thinks George Harrison was perhaps the most beautiful man to ever walk planet earth.
@@1982pencil yes i am sure it was. I do remember John or Paul saying something like, the mindless screaming was very irritating. That they couldn't even hear themselves singing, and that it didn't really matter anyway, because the audience couldn't either.
What I truly love about this band is they started as teen idols, but they had incredible talent! One of the few teen idol bands to leave that genre and actually be respected as great musicians! They don't make them like this anymore. I had always heard they were bad live, but that is not the case. When you could hear them over the fans, they were incredible! Especially with the crappy sound equipment back in that era. My favorite music act of all.

@@rudolphguarnacci197 Yep, his age is starting to catch up with him.
The audience were young kids, this music brought them JOY, which is very rare today.
It’s rare for music to bring kids joy these days? Huh?
The band were young kids in those days...
Slightly older than the schoolgirls but still kids.

…so we don’t have emotions? We’re just a bunch of blobs of flesh that just somehow ceased to exist and feel nothing? If thats the case then why the heck am I bouncing on my bed as I’m singing along to I Wanna Hold Your Hand? Cause I’m having a seizure? Your comment makes zero sense dude
People can never understand the hypnotic nature of the Beatles fan effect. It was real and can never be duplicated in my estimation.
Still works....
@@ericpattison1218 But never gonna be as big as The Beatles.
In summary, the world of pop music (a pretty big world) was ready for something new (in fact was slightly past due for it) and the Beatles were ready with that new something
George Martin said it: *"Their time was just right. They didn't pick their time; something picked it for them."*
What the Beatles deserve much credit for is *being ready* for that moment.
@@basilmarasco1975 yup. Succes seems like luck for those who didn't prepare as well
It was like they dropped in from another dimension.
I love that older and younger generations can both come together to enjoy music like this, it’s really cool to see
I love seeing the older lady smiling and clapping along with I Wanna Hold Your Hand. The best music brings all ages and everyone together.
Yeah
Even John’s Aunt Mimi liked some of the Beatles songs in spite of her best efforts not to. I think in her interview after John’s death, she said that her favorite song was A Hard Day’s Night. Not what you would’ve expected from the curmudgeonly old lady who told John that he would never make a living with the guitar haha. Their music really did have the power to universally effect everyone.
The greatest band ever
Definitely the most universal and magical band around. This new age does not seem to recognize the magic sometimes. But most any one...they know...the Beatles were IT. The pinnacle of musicianship performance and the "universal note". There will never be another collective of that groundbreaking stature. The timing was just TOO good with everything.
+Don't ask no hay conexión
The greatest group ever is the Statler Brothers. The best Rock And Roll group ever is the Beach Boys. I still love the Beatles though.
+Kenny Dobbins don't rate the beach boys a few good songs not in the same league
peteslater1 I think everything they did was great. I am entitled to my opinion and you are entitled to yours.
I gotta go to bed!!! but can't stop listening to Beatles songs. Have been listening to them since 1964 and they never get old.

This audience is more hardcore than any metal concert.
true, kkkkk
🤣🤣👌
If u have a keen ear you might notice that sound of the audience seems to repeat over and over and sometimes louder, like it was mixed together. In the video it seems a normal audience, and there’re a lot of parts repeated too, from the best takes. I’m not a hater, I like the Beatles. But I like to know the truth as well.
@Tessmage Tessera I feel bad for the after-concert cleanup crew.
@@RareHarmony These idiot girls from yesteryear remind me of the liberal girls these days. Screaming and not listening
After more than half a century, this music more than any other has the power to make me happy.

Elvis, then the Beatles. Will there be another act to follow the Beatles? It looks very very doubtful. In my opinion Rap is garbage. Will be 76 next month. Beatles the greatest band of all time. Those guys really rocked the world.
The Beatles, Stones, Clapton and others all gave Buddy Holly's UK tour in 1958 the credit for getting them started.
My first teenage year. My God I was13!
Look at me now I am 72 years young Beatlemaniac!!! Until The End of Time!
As long as their music lasts they will never be truly be gone. John and George I love you and always will
Little Richard is the ARCHITECT rock and roll before all…thank me later❤
Early Beatles were just slightly before my time. I was 2 years old in '63 but growing up I never really appreciated them. Now I am absolutely amazed by their songwriting and musicianship. I can't get enough of these old clips. They truly were revolutionary for that time. I'm a late blooming Beatles fan.
Beatles are the great musicians of the whole world that nobody could surpass their performance. They are my idol since 17 and now i'm already 67 years old.
Forever the best of all musicians! Original, happy, letters that will never be out of time, love and friendships, will never die....
I can remember watching them as they played She Loves You and when Ringo started on the drums I thought my head was going to explode. What fantastic days!
Empty Head What a lucky person are you!!....yo quisiera una "barita mágica" y volver a ésos maravillosos años!!
What was the buzz like around them when they were coming up, from your perspective?
I’m in my early teens and discovered the Beatles around 2 years ago. They really are a wonderful band with timeless music. I just cant get enough of them and so far haven’t found a band that’s had so much impact on my music taste and life! Too bad I wasn’t able to experience their active music career
You have good taste! I was there, and I can tell you, it was like nothing else. Just magic!
Dec 7, 1963...after the atrocity in Dallas two weeks earlier, America desperately needed to hold someone's hand. The Beatles helped us all 😞

Damn, they were good live. No lip syncing. They could really play. Greatest band of all time. Every band was influenced by the Beatles at some point in their careers.
No one can beat beatles! They are the true legend😘

So young, so talented, so willing........ a moment in time never to be again. No matter what happens to me in my life.... I had the Beatles
We could have each other 😋
@Cray Fishe , there's always one of you in the crowd, eh?

Youre the best band ever produced, Thanks God.

That little dance George does in the song Money at 3:59-4:01 of the video is......pretty awesome!! Long live The Beatles!!
George Harrison, the man of many talents ❤️
I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan for the first time when I was six. I'm a big fan of their music. Looking back at at all this with girls screaming in waves and them passing out all over the place puts all of it into positive. A Tsunami Of Greatness Were The Beatles.🍎🎸
No other band had power over the audience like the Beatles. I was born early 70s and remember listening to the Beatles and still till this day consider them to be the greatest band ever.
Growing up in the 60's was amazing. ( no cell phones, computers) it was wonderful!
Whats wrong with cellphones and computers?
Also if you dislike cellphones and computers, how and why are you here?
Growing up in the 90s was exactly the same...No cell phones until very late in the decade, and computers were used just to play minesweeper, solitaire, and write school assignments...Vinyl was still around, and great music was all over the place.
We had the best music
@The Pessimistic Physicist I love my computer, but if I had to choose, I would go back to the 60's. We had an imagination and could think for ourselves.
So very thankful I lived through those years! There has never been a band that compares to The Beatles, not before or after them. Their individual gifts & talents were amazing & the band together was awesome! Still my all time favorite band! ❤️
Yes Honey
I'm in my middle 60's and I still consider The Beatles the greatest group of all times 🎶🎶
What about Queen?
After all these years still love the listening to Beatles

This a tremendous performance! Wow! The Beatles rocked the auditorium that night. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" is better this night than it was on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964. "Money" is phenomenal.
We ignore the fact that the screaming girls are, no doubt, part of history too!
All it did for me is confirm that The Beatles are a 60's version of a boy band lmao....
the difference is - they wrote mazing songs!
Thanks to the screamin girls The beatles do no more concerts and made Sgt pepper, white album, abbey road, Magical mystery tour , etc sooo... (Sorry bad english)
And what we call boy bands today aren't actually bands at all, cuz they don't play no instruments. They're just lip-stinkers.

Why'd the girls scream? Because the Beatles had an overwhelming cuteness factor. Add to that the music, the words to the songs, the harmony singing and the haicuts and it made us all a little crazy.
And because they got world wide famous and incredibly succesful very quickly.
Yeah, but I still think the screaming is annoying. And I say this as someone who thinks George Harrison was perhaps the most beautiful man to ever walk planet earth.
@@1982pencil That is actually the main reason they quit touring. All the crazy screaming.
Jeff Davis well it was a bit more than that, but sure - that was part of it.
