Hell yes! me and my older brother always said that growing up, like final fantasy 6, chrono trigger, final fantasy 7 etc. if they dont change the music in a battle you know some shit is either going down or about to.
This is one of the greatest songs in the game, it is SO badass that it doesn't stop for battles. It creates a sense of urgency that makes that part of the game so much more epic.
@@Mattbogushey, me too. It’s been over 10 - Years since I first completed CT on my Nintendo DS, so now I am going through it again on my psvita & later on my DS again.
I remember playing the part of the game back in High school for the SNES. Stereo sound connected, no lights, Listening to this piece still gives me goosebumps!
Im 32 now ive been playing games since i was about 3 years old (first console was an nes) and games are so different now than what i grew up with, and as i get older i know new generations of gamers will come and make their own memories with their games (like spiderman ps4, fallguys..among us, COD.etc) but for me...this game is The best game in My generation.
33 here, and 100% agree with you, all others I've played end up competing with this, only other ones close are FF7 and FFX for the sheer amazing storylines and music. But this one takes the cake
Didn't play this game until I was 11, I'm 23 now, and I completely agree with you. If this game ever got a remaster with "today's" graphics and in HD, I know damn well everyone who's played the original game will lose their minds
The fact that this tracks uses stereoscopic audio (where that main instrument just keeps oscillating from the right to the left speaker, back and forth) just makes it THAT much better 😊
Always reminds me of the trial against the king (side quest).. Fun fact: if you pick Crono, Magus with Marle before this quest in the castle kicks off, Magus calls Marle an idiot/fool when wondering how she could prove the King's innocence.
Its hard to come close to getting the right feeling for this piece when its remixed, especially the contrast in dynamics, and balance shifting. But the original will always be the best when it comes to music like this.
thewhole era of the game music wise is probably some of the most epic in the entire decade of rpg gaming aside from xenogears. squaresfot will never recover from what they lost.
@@NickyLaurienzo you definitely got to then lol Luckily I was aware not to fight him again so he can join me, it's so fucking cool having a boss for a party member!
@@MisterAutist yeah unfortunately I didn’t know I thought he would join you for defeating him again for some reason😂 but I bet, I can’t wait to play Magus and mix up my final boss team lineup lol
The synth part at the begining of the loop reminds me of the sound effect news channels used to play when they had breaking news. It really gives a sense of urgency to the song
El arco del 12000 antes de Cristo es lo mejor de todo Chrono Trigger. Que tremenda maravilla en todo sentido, en serio. La música, la trama, la ambientación mística. Es simplemente perfecto.
playing chrono trigger with the strict rule of no respawns from save states and 'enemy attack even if u are not ready', this music means you're soon gonna face the golem twins, among the deadliest bosses in the game if u don't know their weakness, and if they get their physical hits on chrono's waifu before u get to cast a magic dmg on them, it could be over in a few seconds.
corridors of time would be #1. Holy trinity with Shevat the Wind is Calling from Xenogears and Forgotten Days Village of the Hidden Rune from Suikoden 1
@lynnvryett Funny thing is that those little differences in the piece have always been there. Its just after being digitally remastered to make the sound more clear those differences are heard more clearer.
@Maphysto Yeah, seriously. They're just messing with "time" now... Oooh, I get it. "Time". :D Kinda like how Frog's in the party when fighting Zombor in the anime opening, when he shouldn't be. TIME PARADOX!!! D:
@spectreshadow Damn skippy xD I need to play through this gem again. They don't make them like they used to. I've played RPG maker games that are better than some of the new stuff coming out.
I don't think Square even knows how much money they'd make if they remade this. But damn as much as i'd love to see that I fear aquare-enix might mess up.
The element enemies actually aren't too bad once you realize they're weak against elements matching their color. Still a pain in the ass tho (I had Chrono, Frog and Ayla)
I wish for a New Chrono Trigger Game, because this is such a amazing game I wish there would be new Characters, Techs, New Music, and A New Story. Chrono Trigger Best Game from the SNES.
For any who haven't played Chrono Trigger for a period of time, and then throw in Flames of Eternity... no spoilers on the details but the Ocean Palace makes a return! My mind hearing this tune again was blown in nuclear proportions!
I was introduced to this theme via Team (9) Mystical Quest: Evil_Nazgul0616 used it for the Depths of Makai section; a nice choice that really did fit the setting. From what I have heard and seen here, I should really get round to playing this myself, shouldn't I. (#^_^#)
RPG themes that don't switch over to the default battle themes are always the best. Let's you know that shit's about to get REAL.
Hell yes! me and my older brother always said that growing up, like final fantasy 6, chrono trigger, final fantasy 7 etc. if they dont change the music in a battle you know some shit is either going down or about to.
Agreed, just like in FFX when the music doesn't change in the Zanarkand Ruins
It really makes you feel that you're racing against time.
I thought i was the only one who thinks that xD
The best dungeons are the ones with fantastic music that never gets interrupted
To those who aren't listening with headphones: the track is stereo, so the intro and every occurrence of it dances from one ear to the other and back!
Kinda like a clock's pendulum
I don't even use headphones and i NOTICED that!
I only just now noticed that.
OMG GOD YESSSSSS!!!!
This is my favourite piece in the game. It just has that feel that you're racing to stop something catastrophic and the clock is ticking.
Cause you are,any minute late and it's lavos ending humanity
@@randomness4989 and Zeal is doomed
I think it's a tie for best song between this and magus's theme
@@chrys_stone8716 definitely. I have Magus join my party just to so I can hear his theme when I fight Zeal
It's fantastic, the perfect blend of "battle, tragedy, and melencholy" in one piece
Something about the way the "battle engage" sound effect seems like it echoes in the undersea palace when this plays always gives me chills
**schwing**
You noticed that too?!
it's that classic SNES reverb with squares awesome sound design.
The atmosphere is so good. You can feel the tension
This song gives one message loud and clear: Things got real. Especially considering what happens on that part of the game.
true
The moment where this theme kicks in and then you save the game and see the chapter title is "Lavos Beckons." Chills.
The way they keep playing this music even though the battles really demonstrates the tension. It's a race against time.

Best song on the entire soundtrack. Perfect timing cause shit is getting SO REAL at this point in the game!
God I LOVE THIS GAME. Man i wish i could play it again without knowing every single thing that would happen.

Same, and when I got my Nintendo 3DS and this game for Christmas, I was thrilled
I also loved how it played during the Kings trial. You are absolutely right about it setting the tone of hurry the fuck up.

Solid gold SNES MASTERPIECE.
