Yes. He's more intelligent than anyone can imagine. And in Chrono Cross, he's PISSED that a group of "cattle" like the players wanted to stop him from doing what he felt was "natural".
Aparently, it appears to be just a parasyte driven by instincts alone, and considering how its species aparently records the DNA of every life form of their host planet, maybe evolution is what lead to it hiding as the "uninportant helper" as everyone always attacks the big bad guy as it's the one that matters. Then my theory is that in Chrono Cross, with Schala being consumed by its remains, gave it a significant power boost, since such an item as the Chrono Cross is required to truly beat it, along with some sort of basic concience trough Schala's corrupted mind as seen in the added fight on the DS Version
No. Lavos is a non-sentient, but UNIMAGINABLY POWERFUL lifeform. Which makes this game an even more grandiose masterpiece, since the "revenge" everyone and specially Magus wanted to accomplish against Lavos, was meaningless because the object of their hatred wasn't even self-concious nor had even a spark of intelligence at all - it only acted on instinct.

It's a glitch. Someone else could probably explain it better, but from what I remember hearing, the left pod and other enemies that can be "revived" don't really die, they're just invisible and cannot be targeted. This normally wouldn't be an issue, but that visual effect accidentally reveals it. The right pod being defeated triggers the other pods to actually die before moving to the end sequence, but since the left pod was invisible, it is ignored and doesn't die.

I’ve always loved Lavos in the game. It was already cool as this destructive monster, but finding out that inside it was actually this alien that is so strange and without explanation was so awesome! I’ve always had a theory that the monster itself isn’t fake, but rather the inner mech just controls it by its nerves and essentially puppets it, hence why there’s still the Lavos spawn
So what if Lavos is actually parasitizing the creature, that makes the shell and he is a hyperparasite. Like his species evolved to take over the bodies of those things, because it was a good survival tactic to travel through space? So that creature also lays its offspring, but the parasite already places his egg inside, so the spawn get infected right away. Over time such bonds might result in both creatures not being able to survive without each other like a portuguese man o war
I wonder if lavos in 1999 AD is actually the covid-19 in 2020 AD now, spreading danger all over the world... his shell looks similar to the coronavirus

I hate that boss right now, mostly because it takes so long. I had beat it the first time with Chrono Ayla and whatever the mechanic girls name was. The second time I beat him with the princess and Chrono. The third time I lost against him with Frog, the princess and Robo The fouth time I lost against him with Frog, the princess and the new game plus Ayla for whatever reason. Not sure if they say something that interessting but I thought it couldn't be difficult this time. I think the weakest was the left part, the most HP had the right part and every part could reanimate the lost parts right?
If you substituted the three heroes with Amy Rose, Shadow, and Sonic... ...then Lavos with Black Doom... ...you'd have yourself the climax to #SonicMovie3! =D

I never understood why the right Lavos bit had the most health. It was like, "shouldn't the programmers have made the middle big guy have the most health and most power?"
frozen222 the right lavos bit is actually lavos himself. The creature in the middle and the left lavos bit are just decoys. In my opinion this is a very clever strategy that lavos has come up with.
+boss 219 seems a bit anticlimactic doesn't it? Clever yes, but kinda lame from a player's standpoint. Little floating robotic thing is Lavos, I don't like it.
need help when I get to the first Lavos his attacks do upwards of 800 to 1000 damage idk what to do my guys are all leveled up but he just kills them with that darn Lazer trap
The game: "no, stop using that attack! Destroy the left one first! The right pod is actually his true core, it's the one you have to defeat in order to kill him!" Me with magus in the party: haha dark matter go brrr
snes9x 1.51 has certainly not aged well sound wise lol. it never did get the cursor noise right and music is low pitched unless you go into the ini file and fix it manually. it's odd how the devs didn't seem to even notice this flaw. Most people in general didn't
kzbxvz It only has like 30000 hp on the biggest one, and I could deal about 2000 with falcon strike and about 3500 with the triple attack, so with decent strategy it was really not too bad
Thanks but I don't know if I should be congratulated on this since his first and third forms didn't manage to attack once.Either Lavos' 3rd form is a complete pushover or I was too overpowered. If lvl 62 is too high then it's the latter. I also don't remember having trouble with him on the SNES version either.
Well then I hope the Dream Devourer puts up more of a challenge. I didn't beat that one yet recently since I got other stuff to do before I attempt a NG+ and actually get it done with. To be honest there are harder fights than either of Lavos' forms if I remember well the skeleton boss from Fiona's quest always gave me trouble.
Casian Lionheart The skeleton boss didn't gave me much trouble. For me the hardest boss I fought was the Twin Golems. They was so fast, my characters kept on getting killed.
Hello man! Im playing for the first time... I cant beat lavos so far and im at lvl 45.. i didnt do the sidequests before lavos... Whats the green aura of ayla? And what lvl were you and equipment of the video? Thanks for responding
If I remember correctly my setup was: Crono Level 66 - Rainbow - Prism Helm - Moon Armor - Prism Specs Frog Level 65 - Masamune - Prism Helm - Nova Armor - Hero Medal Ayla Level 65 - Fist - Prism Helm - Prism Dress - Charm Top And probably the green aura is from the Prism Dress. So that creature also lays its offspring, but the parasite already places his egg inside, so the spawn get infected right away. Over time such bonds might result in both creatures not being able to survive without each other like a portuguese man o war
Lavos: I shall start with one of my most powerful weapons.... NIPPLE BEAMS!
How I wish I could experience this game for the first time again
This game will always be in my top 3
I wonder if lavos in 1999 AD is actually
the covid-19 in 2020 AD now, spreading danger all over the world...
his shell looks similar to the coronavirus
Here I was thinking you'd try to abuse the hell out of Dino Tail & Frog Squash!
Lavos looks like cell from DBZ
So Lavos is a guest character for Warframe now
Whoa, that's really cool
I used Chrono, Lucca & Magus for this fight. Before I used Frog instead of Chrono and kept dying. -_-
I'm using Chrono, Marle and Frog but I keep dying at the last second :((
@@berkjoga Crono, Marle, Magus. Use items to reduce MP consumption and damage increase. Ice Sword 2 will one shot the left pod. Confuse will also if you have Crono Prism'd out. Then pound with Ice Sword 2 and Dark Matter.
I just tried the Crono solo end for the first time ever and was on my way to what seemed like a convincing win. I have been playing this game for 25 years and I swear to god, its the first time Lavos core has ever bitch slapped me. I had never seen that before I was a little stunned. Before I could elixir, he did it twice and I was dead. lv2 52, with stars on spd and mg def. also the haste helm. I was getting 5-6 x confused before taking a hit....those flipper slaps though....damn
lavos basically invade planets by himself, no hi-tech army and arsenal required
good gameplay well done👍
Thank you :]
Giygas? Is that you?
Well, it's his best buddy, Lavos
did i hear dialga?
Giygas Lavos And Giratina Are Best Buds.
EB ftw!!
Lavos 1st Form = JENOVA Synthesis
Lavos 2nd Form = Bizarro Sephiroth...
Lavos in Chrono Trigger = Davos in real life
Who else turned tv up when u fought the different forms
lembro até hoje de quando zerei esse jogo hehe, no meu ps3 usando o Snesx9 como emulador haha ótimas memórias e que jogão! Meu time foi; Chrono, Ayla e o Robô!
Great description.
10:26 Recreation of everything again but this time for the epilogue you fought for. :D
You have no idea how badly I want them to do a Chrono Trigger raid series in FFXIV and have our Warriors of Light fighting these forms of Lavos as the finale to that... they JUST did an FF4 Zeromus fight too with the latest patch 6.5 complete with remixes so it gives me hope because that was on the Anthologies PS1 Disc with Chrono Trigger as well if anyone remembers that
I hate that boss right now, mostly because it takes so long.
I had beat it the first time with Chrono Ayla and whatever the mechanic girls name was.
The second time I beat him with the princess and Chrono.
The third time I lost against him with Frog, the princess and Robo
The fouth time I lost against him with Frog, the princess and the new game plus Ayla for whatever reason.
Not sure if they say something that interessting but I thought it couldn't be difficult this time.
I think the weakest was the left part, the most HP had the right part and every part could reanimate the lost parts right?
for the 1st part of the battle I literally used luminaire and ethers the whole time
I went with Luminaire and Antipode 3 as my main strats, with Marle and Lucca wearing Gold Studs to reduce their MP consumption by 75%.
@@LordNanfoodle I put Gold Studs on everyone except Crono, which I had Prism Specs
1:47 what is this music name?
World Revolution
Jatinder Gill thanks
If you substituted the three heroes with Amy Rose, Shadow, and Sonic...
...then Lavos with Black Doom...
...you'd have yourself the climax to #SonicMovie3! =D
the lavos pliot reminds me of the QU from all tomorrows those little things that fly beside him those are his bio weapons he uses for combat just like the space alien dragonflies the QU do
Anyone else think this theme would fit as the final boss theme for FFIV's Zeromus?
The fact that the left bit's shadow appears after defeating Lavos... Does that mean that he didn't really die?
Watch in 360p hot sh**!
This is a fun party to beat Lavos with
Saying hello in 2022!
Is it just me or does the pool around Proto-Lavos look like chocolate chip ice cream/cookies and cream?
Hahaha, now that you mention it I can see it too
5:25
Krilin : ese es el verdadero Lavos ?? se hizo pequeño y se ve inofensivo ,parece como si su poder hubiera disminuido !!!
I can't tell what lavish face is in 3rd form is it a old man's face?
lavos I mean
+Shreklove Donkay I think it's not looks like a human's face, just an random alien's face
lavos is the architect while terra is the oracle
Believe it or not, lavos has 10 freaking phrases. There's 2 more for the lavos core. Also, you will need to heal alot in the game
I was 8 when my elder brother played Chrono, so I never know the final boss, but wtf… that’s Cell
When I walked in it did over 1000 to each of my team, how come it only did 100 to them?
+pein260 Level and equipments my friend, high defense stat will reduce the damage. In my team:
- Crono has Prism Helm and Moon Armor (total 224 defense)
- Frog has Prism Helm and Nova Armor (total 221 Defense)
- Ayla has Prism Helm and Prism Dress (total 238 Defense)
+Yukimura I appreciate it. I'm going to grind some more and get to know that combo of a team more, because I haven't used those three together that much. Thanks!
+pein260 You're welcome! Good luck
+Yukimura 😀

Just about perfect timing.
lavos is the eternal death angel
It would’ve taken mere seconds to beat this guy if he used triple tech with these 3
I wish to ask what lvl you chareters are you made something looks easy...then again I remember my first time through and walking into that battle way before I needed to 1 hit and the party was dead lmao so I went and grinded another 20 lvls and tried again with improved success I love this game
If I remember correctly:
Crono Level 66
- Rainbow
- Prism Helm
- Moon Armor
- Prism Specs
Frog Level 65
- Masamune
- Prism Helm
- Nova Armor
- Hero Medal
Ayla Level 65
- Fist
- Prism Helm
- Prism Dress
- Charm Top
An hard lvl mashing pays off to make for a smooth finish!!
This game worth all the effort I ever put, best gaming experience I ever have
I never understood why the right Lavos bit had the most health.
Little floating robotic thing is Lavos, I don't like it.
frozen222 oh really? I still think this fight is epic despite finding out who lavos really is 😂😂
For me is kinda dissapoiting xd
That's... kinda the point. It's like a final gambit on Lavos' part, hiding behind what the player thinks the final boss battle should be.
The only part where I spammed luminaire spell 😂
need help when I get to the first Lavos his attacks do upwards of 800 to 1000 damage idk what to do my guys are all leveled up but he just kills them with that darn Lazer trap
You either need higher level or need better equipments, or maybe both. Wish you best of luck man
Maybe it is not time to defeat Lavos yet
It looks so easy. In fact, I had serious problem fighting him...
The key is to have strong enough characters with strong enough equips, and effective strategy
@@Anoname112 i fought him with Marle and Frog and the strongest Chrono's spell
@@rafachrzaszcz6997 probably your lvl is not enough to face him and your weapon are so weak you should do some quest
@@jeromedado7416 I've done almost all the quests, had 999HP, played with Crono, Marle and Frog. I finally finished him, but it was difficult.
The game: "no, stop using that attack! Destroy the left one first! The right pod is actually his true core, it's the one you have to defeat in order to kill him!"
Me with magus in the party: haha dark matter go brrr
snes9x 1.51 has certainly not aged well sound wise lol. it never did get the cursor noise right and music is low pitched unless you go into the ini file and fix it manually. it's odd how the devs didn't seem to even notice this flaw. Most people in general didn't
This is edited or cheat, in real life up to an hour long final battle before you defeat Lavos, great music as always in a classic Japanese RPG :)
kzbxvz Idk, maybe I was over leveled at 51 but it took me about this long when I did it, not an hour or anything near it
You cheated like anybody else I suppose but this battle can't just take under 10 minutes pronto!!!
kzbxvz It only has like 30000 hp on the biggest one, and I could deal about 2000 with falcon strike and about 3500 with the triple attack, so with decent strategy it was really not too bad
Beat it last night. Only I had Robo instead of Frog. Falcon Hit ftw!
If I remember correctly my setup was:
Crono
Level 66
- Rainbow
- Prism Helm
- Moon Armor
- Prism Specs
Frog
Level 65
- Masamune
- Prism Helm
- Nova Armor
- Hero Medal
Ayla
Level 65
- Fist
- Prism Helm
- Prism Dress
- Charm Top
And probably the green aura is from the Prism Dress. It was long time ago and I forgot most of the game
@@Anoname112 thank you so mucho for telling me Man. Years can pass but this game Is for eternity! ITS so cool
