Huge tip for beginners. Forget brand loyalty! Find what you like, find what can be diluted and find the best prices you can. Example the $15 gallon pink soap from 3D will do Just as good as the $25 pink soap from chemical guys. Do your research on products and talk to other detailers many are willing to help!
Luke: Your back on your mark, fast talking and all. Your video has enthusiasm, confidence, and devotion to the trade, with an upbeat confidence. Luke, are you saying that this method for plastic restorer is better, easier to coat, and more profitable than Cerakote Trimcoat?
Hey Bill, as always it goes without saying... thank you! So the trim serum that I used here doesn't come with any sort of "ceramic" protection. So I cannot yet speak to the durability. That being said, Cerakote is virtually a permanent restoration at the end of the day. I should add, Cerakote while an amazing product, and one I continue to use, at times in certain situations it can be finicky, whereas a product like this is extremely easy to apply with no other thought being given. Cerakote however is absolutely still at the top of my list, and I will say, their chemists know what they are doing, and are continuing to perfect the things that they sell
You’re in my opinion, the smartest detailer around. You’re always trying to cut corners while maintaining the same end result. Keep up the good work! Also, I’m a brand new detailer and I’m learning a lot from you, so for anyone who’s new, this is the right guy to watch!
Thanks so much man! That means a ton! A lot of detailers definitely work a lot without making much money so hopefully these videos will help bring out the entrepreneur in you!
Being a new detailer you should also check out AMMO NYC that dude's on a whole nother level. His series are mostly educational and covers almost every aspect of detailing
I like that you talk so fast - plus then for entertainment I get to hear those little gaffs that sneak in at warp 7 talking speed. (You conversate with customers!) I soak up detailing vids like crazy and WAD is a great channel! Better than TV... THANKS!
It is definitely complicated and a lot of work..... but he makes some of the processes easier to UNDERSTAND. don’t get tied up lol it’s hard labor and very detailed
That was awesome! I watch all your videos, but this one is my new favorite. And yes, it's because I practice my detailing on a black Jeep Wrangler with damaged paint and faded trim. Lol... Seriously tho, the tips and tricks that you give that make my Wrangler look good make cars that start out in better shape look freaking fantastic.
This reminds me of my bosses jeep. I'm starting my detail business and this was the first car I had to detail. Pretty much in the same if not worse condition. Etched water spots, hazy windows and lots and lots of swirls.
Luke, thanks for sharing this. I know you have a lot of experience and also have put a lot of thought into everything you do. I aggree with you that causing swirls to an already swirled up paint shouldn't be your biggest concern. However, I would like to note the following. At my previous job, this is almost exactly the sole way (Apply foam, clean with wash media, rinse) all the cars were cleaned on a monthly basis, from new. After just a few washes, they were absolute swirl nightmares, visible in even the dimmest of lights, even though they were all light-coloured cars. Far worse than any reputable automated car wash would have caused, I assure you. And that, I think, is the wrong thing to be doing.
Totally agree, over time when you are dealing with say a new vehicle where the paint is more or less in average to pristine condition precautions need to be taken or you will see those swirls accrue overtime
Awesome job and no problem understanding you talking fast because everything was also very clearly explained. Sometimes you will have to restore trims with Solution Finish and sometimes with this product you're showing which I love using too, so all depends on the nature of the beast. The best part is I have learned again is the Rebel Landslide from Renegade products. I saw that product in California at a detail shop and forgot to write the name down in order to use it in my detailing offering to customers. I have just purchased for the Jeep of my cousin and uncle since they wanted me to detail their vehicles and is a great tool to have for other vehicles too. Thanks for all your videos and input.🙏 Xoxo from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷
That's awesome! hahaha yes Renegade landslide is amazing and something I am going to be showing a lot more of! And yes, solution finish is fantastic and something that I use very regularly, great product and video coming soon!
I'm just now starting my detailing business and thank you for the great advice! i know i have a lot to learn and your tips and tricks are going to help me a lot.
Thanks for sharing these amazing secrets on how to detail a car. That drill and power washer really help the process go a lot faster. I like the idea of using a microfiber towel versus a wash mitt. I would like to see what you would do for an all white vehicle in a video as they have different types of problems than an all black vehicle. Excellent techniques and insight into how you negotiate your prices with your customers. Your hard work is worth something. Have a fantastic day!
One additional tip regarding Jeeps and any lifted truck or SUV is to dress the undercarriage. As someone that works on his own Jeep, I prefer something like Meg's Synth Xpress Spray Wax (non greasy/oily) but have used dedicated undercarriage dressings like Griots offers with success. It's a small amount of work, can be priced very attractively, and makes a huge difference. Wishing you continued success Luke.
Love your videos. I'm kind of ocd when it come to my car. a 2017 Santa Fe Sport, everyone remarks how good it looks, I hear comments about the color, canyon copper. But I will always stay humble and learn as much as I can Cause there’s always something to learn even if we think we “know it all” lol
Hi Luke. I just have to ask, Is there a reason why you did not wash the top of the vehicle? was it too tall? I do hope you do a follow up in a couple or three months on how well the plastic coating protector held up to your expectations. Thank you for uploading. I love watching vehicles change from beginning to end.
I actually do, but I try to cut out the things In the video that I consider no brainers so I don’t have to make it longer than it needs to be, so I didn’t show it here because it’s just not interesting to watch and there’s nothing really to say about it

Im not 100% sure what you mean by hard shampoo, but it is definitely something I would suggest doing in a situation like tis where you have a car that is extremely dirty and damaged

Now The Last Coat has come out with a ceramic trim product. Something new to try... :) I detail a lot of trucks and am looking forward to trying the Renegade Dressing!
I have Trim Serum as well. Not overly impressed. I’m finding myself using Megs Hyper Dressing over Trim Serum. Not a bad product, just haven’t been wowed, like many others have.
Hyper Dressing used to be my go to. I get better results and longevity with the Trim Serum. Don’t know why? I still use both and other trim dressings as well. Cost factor you can’t go wrong with a gallon size HD.
Like button smashed my man..... But yes it is totally acceptable to "up sale" and offer "add on services"..... Every business does it, from small, locally owned to the fortune 100..... By all means, if it's in your budget do it for free, but reality is your out there to make money. To restore that trim with a better than average product that makes the OTCs look like the rip off they are, why not offer it. To paint or replace that would be really expensive, then you'd have to "add protection" anyways..... So work for free, if that's your calling.... But even the most humble-a-man knows you pay man for his labor, and you pay him fairly. Blessings, karma, Honoring God whatever you do it for, there's something satisfying about adding value to someone else's life, merchant or customer

Man been learning alot from your videos ty I got a question I bought a foam cannon but when connect it to my pressure gun is it supposed to swing so easily back n forth on the pressure gun?
A small portion of my bumper is peeling bad, thanks to a aftermarket bumper guard I got that was leaking and allowed all the water to just sit and it made the paint around and inside bubble. Any advice from anyone here or from Wilson himself on how to cover it up permanently to keep it from spreading and getting worse? A small spot around the curve is already showing the metal or whatever the bumper is made of and it's a pain to wash since I have to be gentle around it and it can't get 100% cleaned properly...

Great question, and difficult to answer simple. I charge based on the value I know it adds based on my own skill level, results I know I can bring, durability, sheer quantity of trim I am addressing, and time
As I've became a detailer your videos have been a source of great information. Im glad you explain clearly as you go. With that being said, i charge a fair amt for details and i throw in the trim restored in my details. My upsales are decontamination w iron remover, glue n tar remover, clay bar, panel wipe, seal n polish. That's a bundle package upsale. I have a kit from gtachniq to do a whole car and all the extra glass, dash, fabrics, rims. I feel i should offer these products in my details on the regular and have like a premium cost detail. Continuously learning n thankful for your videos. Check me out on john driscoll detailing on fb. Id love your critique!
Hi Johnny - I got the same question - how are you guys structuring your pricing ? I’m considering setting as a mobile detailer - and would appreciate how to set my pricing structure for marketing materials etc 🙏
Wilson Auto Detailing Thanks Luke, just curious, is the Meguiars APC similar to Simple Green or is it a different kind of cleaner, with different ingredients? Thx
Great question, and difficult to answer in a short comment because there are so many variables to developing those prices. I am actually in the process of developing an online course that is based on building this type of business model exactly: How to build an auto detailing business founded on maintenance clients in order to make a full time income with part time hours. Basically the goal is to take what I did, and put it into a step by step blue print, and there will be entire modules dedicated to this question
Not currently, soon yes, I have had several websites in the past both for my detailing business and the online side of my business, I intentionally took down my detailing website because of the overwhelming influx of customers that I couldn't handle, so of course that is a good problem to have, but because of the business model that I am pursuing it was much easier to make it harder for potential customers to get a hold of me as weird as that may sound
I am at a point where I spend very little on my products, because at some level I do have some leverage with my social media following, so I would say a good AVERAGE for a very straightforward detail would be a cost of somewhere around $12 total, and of course a return of something much higher, in this case I charge, IN THE BALLPARK of $200 for a job like this
@@wilsonautodetailing Awesome, thank you for the reply. That is a fair price for all that work, and all the stuf you spent. I live in a small town where you have wealthy and middle/poor class, and for all that work I could get max 30-40$.

@@wilsonautodetailing in the uk a detailing garage that i work at and were trying out a new product from auto glym thats called deep polish and it works amazingly on black faded cars, really brings back the gloss!
How well does the renegade dry? Does it need to be buffed or streak?
Nope, at least in this situation I am spraying and walking away!
If your doing mobile detail, do you use their water hookups and plug ins and stuff?

when someone requests mobile i say i can come to you and do mobile but i need a garden hose for my power washer and a plug for my extension cords, so far 5/5 no one had an issue

SuperClean full strength? Rubber Suit.
Nice work and I talk fast as well and it drives people crazy, to bad for them hahahaha. Fast talkers are higher thinkers :)
Hahaha agreed!!
We think as fast as we talk, thus making it possible. Keep on truckin broham! To bad you are not local, would throw you some business I live in an apt with nowhere to do anything argh.
How much did you charge in total for this details? If possible please provide the break down. It will be very much helpful and appreciated
At this point I can’t remember haha I’m sure it’s in another comment somewhere, but If I had to reach back in my memory, generally I don’t do this kind of work for less than $200
Those detail brushes are so overpriced. But nonetheless great video!👍🏼
how do you charge for a trim restore?
Fantastic man! Thanks for the feedback!! Sounds like you’re doing great things
Johnny if its okay to know, what are your prices on the upsales?
Hi Johnny - I got the same question - how are you guys structuring your pricing ?
I’m considering setting as a mobile detailer - and would appreciate how to set my pricing structure for marketing materials etc 🙏
Luke what would you recommend for a really good quality APC? Thx
Meguiars APC is a great foundational one to go to!
Wilson Auto Detailing Thanks Luke, just curious, is the Meguiars APC similar to Simple Green or is it a different kind of cleaner, with different ingredients? Thx
Where can I get a hand pump sprayer like the one you use on the wheels?
Brandon Ball I hope he doesn’t start selling them he will charge $30 for 1 🤣
Hey man here is the link to the one I use: bit.ly/2uaMYsO
Do you have the go pro video of this? Can you upload it? 😅
I do in some parts haha that's why I include it in certain places here in this video
Hey Luke, from start to finish, how long did this detail take you, Thanks!
What’s everyone charging for maintenance details? And how far out from the original full detail?
Great question, and difficult to answer in a short comment because there are so many variables to developing those prices. I am actually in the process of developing an online course that is based on building this type of business model exactly: How to build an auto detailing business founded on maintenance clients in order to make a full time income with part time hours. Basically the goal is to take what I did, and put it into a step by step blue print, and there will be entire modules dedicated to this question
What about the roof
How much did you charge for this wash and wax?
I charge in the ballpark of $200 for a job like this when it’s all said and done
Do you have a website?
Not currently, soon yes, I have had several websites in the past both for my detailing business and the online side of my business, I intentionally took down my detailing website because of the overwhelming influx of customers that I couldn't handle, so of course that is a good problem to have, but because of the business model that I am pursuing it was much easier to make it harder for potential customers to get a hold of me as weird as that may sound
Hell yeah i know all about this lol
Just discovered you today, I'm enjoying what you are putting out. I noticed the license plate showing. Potential liability for you.
What’s ONR
How much would a detail like that cost?
Depends on a lot of different variables of course but I charge in the ball park of $200
Wilson Auto Detailing thanks man
How much did you spend, and how much did customer pay?
I am at a point where I spend very little on my products, because at some level I do have some leverage with my social media following, so I would say a good AVERAGE for a very straightforward detail would be a cost of somewhere around $12 total, and of course a return of something much higher, in this case I charge, IN THE BALLPARK of $200 for a job like this
@@wilsonautodetailing Awesome, thank you for the reply. That is a fair price for all that work, and all the stuf you spent. I live in a small town where you have wealthy and middle/poor class, and for all that work I could get max 30-40$.
