Would you rather have dirty hand with dirt and chemicals or have gloves? We use black cause blue or white gloves get more dirty and you can see it and looks bad for the client.
those little bonus items . can make the difference for your clients. you win and keep a client and he/she wins for having a great over the top service and the WOM for more clients maybe. thanks so much for helping an enthusiastic guy who is just starting on this take care you rock
One loophole I ended up finding for a heated carpet extractor was using my shop vac diy extractor hooked up to my hot water tap for the washer. Dont have one so it was open. only drawback is needing the customer to come to me or have a hot water tap available. it works in a pinch and only cost me around $120
Great video, Luke! I learned soooo much just from this one video ! You’re such a great detailer, and an even better educator! Keeping doing what you do!
this was really helpful. please do more videos like this. I'm just starting my own moblie detialing business. So I have a lot to learn still. I hold heartedly agree with have repeat customer to make the job easier. would love to know more about your online classes.
Thank you bro...I'm 43 years old and you I spired me to get back into detailing....by the way jus got laid off so I started my detail business from my home garage in california....thanks again...
Good shit man I been thinking of starting detailing myself. I too got payed off March and I got down today because I drove by an old project and saw ppl and the company as if no layoffs ever happened. On another note that gave me a kick in the head and I told myself “I don’t like the idea of going back to work for somebody So that somebody lets me go all over again”
Thanks for sharing Luke! I’ve watched several of your videos and have had my son watch as well. He just started detailing and has the aptitude for it. I’ve been helping him from a business and funding perspective but your videos are helping him with more about how to detail. Thanks for all your help!
It's very interesting to see a detailing pro branch out and help others build their business. Seems like a great niche to be in! Affiliate marketing & sharing your knowledge will surely build a great supplemental income.
Your videos have been a game changer for me! thanks so much. Ive always had bad luck on glass and streaking. Im using chemical guys glass cleaner with the waffle glass cleaner towel and it leaves the worst streaks. What is your recommendation on glass cleaner?
Brilliant in-depth guide and explanations, I'm aiming to launch my business this year over here in the UK and hope I can build such a good reputation like yourself.
Been watching your videos for quite some time now and have gained so much detailing knowledge from your videos alone. Just started my detailing side job and it’s going very well!! Thanks again for all the amazing content! Stay working hard. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks Luke, Very informative inside look at the business. I think my grandson might be interested in auto detailing in the future, so I'll share it with him.
Luke how do you schedule your clients when it rains? So lets say you have one client on Monday and it rains but Tuesday is a good day but your booked for that day. How do you get back to the Monday client when you have a booked schedule?
Wow I did not know that we live in the same city. I love auto detailing bro. Your job is amazing. Auto detailing is one of my hobby. I’ve doing cars detailing for my family and friend. And i had good feedback from them. I’m thinking opening a Sat Sun business for car detailing at Fairview. Hope to hear any advice from you bro!
As usual Luke you’re on the money - no pun intended. I’m a secondary school teacher coming up to retirement teaching engineering, design metalwork, woodwork and technical drawing. I’m currently only able to do weekends and holidays with the sun setting at 5pm as its coming to winter here. I would love to transition to your 4 hour a day model, but can you see that happening for me while I’m working full time? I have 5 regular customers (one who did the same thing to me last Friday as she spilt a casserole in the boot and the dog went nuts every time it got in the car trying to get to there food! My new Bissell extractor killed it. I too would like too use my teaching to educate as I go, but getting tie to edit my footage is an issue. Keep up this content as its great to hear ways to impress customers
Absolutely man! Good questions for sure, I would say firstly, the fact that you already have 5 regular customers is pretty amazing as it sounds like you are still in the beginning stages. Double down on that model because I can tell you from experience that is where the real growth, money, and leverage is. I think the 4 hour model (give or take a little time of course) is something that has to be worked up to in a sense. Finding those clients can take some time, and developing a tried and true strategy and system can take a little time as well, that being said, I don't know your abilities of course, so you may be able to grow faster than others! Keeping it as a side hustle for now, and slowly growing it from there is a tried and true way to go!
Wilson Auto Detailing thanks for the reply Luke. I’d say after 2 years of practice and about a year of client work, my skills are above average. Coming from as hand on practical teaching subject has helped. I’ve just been commissioned to bring a 1969 Ford Mustang coupe back to its best ready for sale by the owner so I must be doing something right. I’ll post some instagrams shots when its done.
Extremely helpful. What kind of price differential is a dirty detail to your maintenance. Ex 75 maintenance charge vs (dirty detail price). How do you up charge is what I'm saying
I actually charge closer to $100+ even for maintenance, and while it’s a difficult question to answer simply because it varies so much, I will generally not touch a really dirty interior for less than $65/hour
Luke, do you coat the steering wheel with some type of conditioner after the APC treatment? I’ve noticed the conditioner I use leaves a tacky residue on the steering wheel Is there any particular reason for this you think?
For things like this, sometimes it’s better not to price them in! Add ons like this that are so easy can be a great add on “free” service to build up a reputation. But I generally make $50/hour with something like this so I leave myself room to do some things for free without losing money
Alot of people dont understand that a good detail takes time sweat, equipment knowledge. Im in a border city so nobody wants to pay but i agree a good detail cost a pretty pennie!!!!!
Truth me told, I generally detail in the sun when it comes to the interior because it’s impossible to look over things under the sun light. My garage also has good lighting that I installed about 4 months ago, I like the frosted LED bulbs. I would look up what kind of lumens you want and what would be best for your situation. It can get confusing but everyone prefers different things
My customer would have opened his door and thought i forgot the super clean and disinfectant lol. Would have likely swung by my place and dropped it back off lol
I never thought about only 150 per day for only 4 hours of work. Most likely you will have have more clients than that if you are building a great reputation.
My question to you is: when a customer sends in photos of a vehicle that they want detailed, and it completely filthy and you don’t want to dive into it, what do you tell the customer? How do you say no without being rude?
Hahaha great question, I think I would say something along these lines “Hey there customer, thank you so much for sending in the pictures. I know it’s difficult to get all of the important areas of the car in a single picture so these really help me! As I’m looking through them, it’s looking like the car is in need of some specific detailing and cleaning that unfortunately I really don’t provide. I don’t mean to disappoint you, but sometimes in the detailing world, certain vehicles are at a point where unless they are completely detailed out to the highest level, you might be disappointed with the results and ultimately paying the price you pay for the results you get. While I don’t want to turn people away, in my opinion, for your sake, your money would be better spent somewhere where they deal with this kind of condition on a regular basis. Does that make sense?”
I really enjoy your content luke. If you have time I would love to chat with you actually and pick your brain about more of this specific video but products etc.
I’m 15 and I’m detailing on the side. Made this RUclips channel to even do car edits and car details because RUclips is something I’ve always wanted.
Bro I'm 15 too and about to get supplies, any tips?
wearing black gloves seems to be step one to being a professional detailer, seems like they all do it.
Would you rather have dirty hand with dirt and chemicals or have gloves? We use black cause blue or white gloves get more dirty and you can see it and looks bad for the client.
Pretty easy to see that all of your success was well earned with hard work and dedication, thanks for all the videos.
Thank you Luke! I appreciate it and trying to figure how to start my detail business. Your video is assisting me and I soon will be starting.
Exactly what I was thinking. Those gifts will go a long way.
Thinking of starting another detailing business and really enjoyed this video.

I'm in Johnson city tn! My sister lives in Nashville
What head camera are you using?

Yes👍🏾great job
Love the energy and fun factor of your videos, great vibes 🙌🏻💖
Haha thanks! I try to make it a little less mundane!
Years ago I detailed vehicles for a dealer as an employee and doing old dirty vehicles was a nightmare. Especially the older 9 door station wagons.
Thanks for this video man
Yes very helpful 😊
Luke, do you coat the steering wheel with some type of conditioner after the APC treatment?
I’ve noticed the conditioner I use leaves a tacky residue on the steering wheel
Is there any particular reason for this you think?
Very helpful
Detailing course:
When will it be released?
I think I found a new side hustle! Hopefully more than just that.
awesome tips man! how do you price add ins such as the windshield protection? also would love to see a water test with the rain repellent!

Where do you purchase your gloves from?
That’s was very helper
Luke this process you are doing in general every time you visit the car for maintenace??(if we remove the tme for the coffe spill)
Yes this is a very “regular” approach to maintenance clients for me
@@wilsonautodetailing thanks Luke keep your great job congratulations
hey luke when you do mobile detailing did you take your own water to wash the exterior of cars?
I always used the customer water and electric!

you use that am spray to condition the leather
Being from TN too, you must live in either the Franklin, Brentwood, or Green Hills area:) Keep up the work and videos!
My customer would have opened his door and thought i forgot the super clean and disinfectant lol. Would have likely swung by my place and dropped it back off lol

What detail cart do you use good sir?
I like the Adams detail

Great!

I never thought about only 150 per day for only 4 hours of work. Most likely you will have have more clients than that if you are building a great reputation.
