As a marketing person, if I may add...Identify and focus on the core benefits as perceived by the customer. Ask yourself, what is your customer really looking for by coming to you? If you just think that all they want a clean car, think again.

@@JackRR15 The key is looking at it from their point of view. Get to understand each customer's individual wants and needs. That's really what any business needs to do. Let's begin: You're providing the customer with convenience, you're saving them time (time is money), providing piece of mind, you're stroking their ego, preventing them from potential injury, you're making them look good to others, brightening their day, reducing stress and worry, maintaining their reputation, and I'm sure I've missed a bunch more.

Also a marketing guy who runs a detail shop! People often don't know what to expect from a detail because they probably have never had one before. If they have, ask them what they liked about their last detail guy and what they didn't. By doing this you will instantly create a good first impression. It's easy to get caught in the weeds with lingo and stuff that doesn't matter to the client. That's why it's important to get straight to the pain points and take the time to educate on what they actually care about. It will save you time and money and deliver a more satisfying result because you aren't wasting time on what the client won't even notice.

Circular swirls are not in fact harder to remove. But it is easier to see since it has multiple angles where you can see them.
And thats actually the reason behind dont wash in circular motion. Not because of the difficulty to remove.

I gotta say I bought the Gtechiq upholstery protectant after watching your video, and I did exactly what you did by rubbing it in, letting it dry the whole 9. Not even close, water went straight into the fibers not one singe water bead sat on top so not sure what else was going on there but that wasn't worth the additional $15 when I can just scotch guard it and get the same results. YES, I did a test run with the scotch guard first and they both performed exactly the same AND I even went back over the scotch guard with the Techinqs and water still didn't bead.

The thing with the circular motion scratches is to go with the airflow so from to back or back to front in case of any scratching because as your driving dirt and crust will go across your vehicle going with the airflow keeps everything uniform so there’s no cross scratching

$75 for ALL that was a huge bargain! I saw how much you charge for some of your add-ons and felt they were not great value. This though was awesome value. Think you should offer fusso coat though with that service for someone who wants the exterior well protected. It's simply the best 12-month lasting sealant that will give great protection against scratches too. Then finish it off with a ceramic detailer and boom!

They don’t sell, they can’t upsell, the don’t know hot to run a business and wonder why they can’t get clients or make the money they want to make. Have to set expectations and do what you’re being paid for as well. And stick to your prices! I’ve realized I’ve been undercharging for interiors. Also Gtechniq Smart Fabric is awesome! So true!!!! To answer your first question I generally don’t work for less than $50 hourly these days though I also run the online side of my business now so I am not completely dependent on detailing

Wilson Auto Detailing That’s what my minimum would be as well. I aim for close to $100 an hour now. Sometimes on coating jobs I can pull $150-200 an hour. And it’s easier and less strenuous work haha. What’s your online business? I’m intrigued....

Hi, I'm not a detailer im just starting to get into detailing and maintaing my cars paint and I've ordered some Meguiars Ceramic Paste Wax 2.0. My question is how do I wash my car after this is applied without removing the wax itself? I usually use the Auto Glym Polar Blast, Wash and Sealant, is this still necessary? Thanks all

Andrew Monument Hi Andrew, I’m a detailer myself so I’ll try and answer your question for you here. Eventually wax will degrade over time, how long you get out of a wax depends on road conditions (how much grime is getting onto the surface and if there’s salt on your roads etc). Even ceramic coats slowly degrade over a year or a few years depending on the coating that has been applied. That being said, I would say keep using your snow foam before hand. Polar blast is a ph neutral foam so is safe for waxes and coatings. The point of the foam pre wash is to safely drag and lift loose contaminants from the surface before contact washing. If you didn’t do this, you would be essentially pushing minute grit like particles over your paint thus causing scratches and swirls and essentially sanding off your wax protection little bit by little bit. Meguiars also do a ceramic spray wax. This would be a great way to quickly top up your existing wax protection between washes so you can get the best longevity out of your new wax! Enjoy using it! Hope this helped you out a bit!

Hey Andrew, first of all, great pick with the wax, it's totally underrated. To your question, I would keep it really simple. Most car washes don't actually strip off the wax that sits on the paint. For example, meguiars gold class car soap that you can pick up at walmart is a great standard car soap that does not strip anything off. Again, most don't and will actually tell you that they don't

I agree with you payment process with the mobile tech...so if your detail is 150 dollars obviously you have to charge tax so is that 150 with the tax included or does the app add the tax to the 150 so then it's would be 170 let's say?

hmmm. lots of different choices...that ceramic detailer spray vs. Mcguires spray wax...So no concerns of using Ceramic spray? not into the Ceramic stuff yet...but this is just a basic spray I guess. Then the Renegade vs. CG VRP?. Good tip on Claying the Windows...didn't remember that.

You can use it full strength or cut it 1:1 i would say just test it and see how each works for you

If guys can't get around the hourly mindset, a simple trick is to attribute a higher hourly rate to your time. E.g. A good hourly rate employee might be on $40 but running your own business, you count in travel time, accounts/admin time, costs for gas/power/water/equipment/computers/disposables/taxes/down-time/phone/internet/office expenses/vehicle-expenses, etc...factoring it all in you're probably about double...and maybe then some...plus extra work could be considered Overtime (x1.5) ...just an example of how to think
