    THANK YOU!!! I'm making a gold cake for my stepdaughter's birthday and the last time I worked with gold luster dust... well, see through, clumpy and decidedly disappointing. Feel much more confident to go forth and make not just shiny cookies, but accidentally gigantic, shiny shiny super shiny golden cakes! And again, your commentary is just Brilliant and sets you apart. Who wouldn't love to read a cook/cakebook in bed with your word. A baker and a writer. What combo! Keep posting lovely things please!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was trying to figure out how to substitute lemon extract because I was nervous that it would leave a taste to the cookies. I can’t wait to try this!

    This is so simple and straight to the point. I wanted glitter but somehow ended up mistakenly buying this dust and I want to try it out for the first time. This really helped my confidence. Thank you!❤

    Hi Georganne, bit late getting to this one. I've been definitely making the paste too thin, so you've totally helped me. (and you are not the only impatient cookie decorator, I could kick myself sometimes) Many thanks :) Marie

    OMG!!! I have been searching high and low for tutorial on this. I think I gave been using too much vodka. My mixture are usually translucent and clumpy. It also eats through dried royal icing like acid, ugh! Thank you so much!!!

    • @LilaLoa_Cookies
      @LilaLoa_Cookies  6 лет назад +1

      Yes! A thicker paste generally works MUCH better! And if you have problems with it eating through your icing...try drying the icing with a moving air source (like a fan or dehydrator). It creates a glossy sheen that acts as a barrier to the liquid.

    I was wondering if you can advice me how to make a rose gold color beaded border?

    • @LilaLoa_Cookies
      @LilaLoa_Cookies  7 лет назад +1

      Start with icing that is similar in color to the rose gold you want to end with. Pipe the border and let it dry. Then mix rose gold colored luster dust with alcohol or water and paint on top of the dry icing.

    • @dellabautista2707
      @dellabautista2707 7 лет назад

      Thank you for your advice. I will do that. I was wondering have you heard of Edible Art paint by Sweet Sticks? They have a very pretty metallic range of premixed colors and nonmetallic, but the metallic range was not recommended for royal icing. You can use it for crusted buttercream, fondant and cookies, but I was adviced that the royal icing will cause the paint to not to dry well.

    • @LilaLoa_Cookies

      You can use dry luster dust on chocolate. Because chocolate is oil based though, if you mix it with water, it will bead up on the surface of the chocolate.

    Alcohol gives you more shine

    • @LilaLoa_Cookies
      @LilaLoa_Cookies  4 года назад +2

      Yes! It definitely does! The downside with alcohol is that the gold tends to rub off once dry. It doesn't do that with water. So you really have to pick which one matters more to you.
