She did a very good job of explaining and gave me info to new products. Don't know why anyone would give her a down thumb. Maybe jealous of how good she does
It helps to decant the gilding flakes into another container, deep and wide enough so that you can cover the item without the flakes going everywhere. Even a ziplock bag, or something similar works too. Placing a large piece of paper underneath when working, so that you can clean up more easily, lift the paper and tip the loose flakes back in the box x
You make me want to go around my home, with a wand, and point at items and say, “You’re guilded.” Thank you for sharing your easy to follow instructions. Gorgeous results!
I can’t afford a hot foil or die cut machine. I learned I can use die cuts with a rolling pin, but couldn’t find one video showing foil without a machine. This is amazing!! Glue, tacky tape and foil! Amazing!
Great video! Your moderation was perfect, no background noise, helpful techniques, and links for everything. Wish there were more like you on RUclips. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for this video! Because of you, I don't have to make an extra trip to Michael's! I have water, I have sticky embossing powder, I have the flakes and even that brush! I just wanted to add some gilding as part of my backdrop in just a few places. This is perfect! Thank you so much! ❤
thank you for your ideas, it really helped me. And yes, I was the one with the fan on while opening my nuvo gold gilding that started to fly everywhere. The good news is where it landed made that area really pretty. The bad news is where is landed made it challenging to clean up! LOL Lessons learned!
This tutorial is amazing to me. I have been trying to get these types of flakes to work for me for years now, and I generally get glue everywhere and gilding more on me and my surfaces rather than on my project. These have been in my purge pile b/c they were frustrating to me. I will give these ideas a try. Maybe the glue pen will be the trick! I also love your cleaning tips of the adhesive eraser or the blending brush. Water? Magic! The stick EP people have kept this secret WAY too long!
Hi there! Great techniques, thanks so much! Your enthusiasm is infectious and I had so much fun listening to you get so excited that it was truly inspiring. Now... you’ve gotta try the many OTHER colors of leafing. I bought some on Amazon ( pinks, blues, lavender etc) and thought I’d lose my mind, I had so much fun! I started gilding EVERYTHING, rocks, Sculpy clay, old costume jewelry. (This vid is a year old so you may have already discovered them) I hope you’re still having fun and discovering new things to gild! Thanks again!😊xo
This demo has made my day! So good. I will be making use of my gilding flakes and sticky embossing powder now. I have been neglecting them for lack of inspiration, not any more. Thanks!
I have had a jar of gilding flakes sitting in my draw for a year, now to go shopping for a glue pen and sticky embossing powder. Awesome video, thank you for sharing your favourite techniques. Newly subscribed.
Wow Great work!!! If I used golden flake on decoupage projects, how do u think I can seal it, I do not want it to scrab or peel? as I know it will affected by the time and myabe golden color will fade or oxidized!!!
Thank you for your video. My cards using flakes never seem come out right, but I appreciate your instruction on how to use them. Definitely going to give your techniques a try.
Very interesting video!! I have all this stuff, but wasn’t sure how to use it. Watching this video gives me some courage to jump in and try it! Thank you!
Wow! Fantastic tips and tricks, you really are clever and your cards are fabulous, thank you! Was never really sure quite how to use the sticky embossing powder but now I do! 👍⭐️🏆
Hi Thanks for the great tips and ideas on how to use gilding flakes. The finished card is just gorgeous. I haven't seen the water technique either so will try that one too.
I can’t get the hang of the sticky powder. After watching your demo, I am going to try it on darker paper. I think I’m just overheating it. It’s really hard to see on white paper. I am getting a little frustrated but I’m going to take a step back and try some of the other options you offered us. Then I’ll give it a try again on the dark paper. Definitely won’t be trying the water one since I can’t seem to get it to work on ink. I do have a new versa mark ink pad. My granddaughter and I were attempting to do some gilding when the sticky powder got knocked over onto the ink pad that was probably 25 years old😱 So ink isn’t the problem. I might try the black ink as well. You’ve given a lot of options to try and play around with. I’m also going to try smaller stamps. I can get this figured out! I bought my flakes along time ago when most companies had never heard of it at a local craft fair and the gal did a demo on a leaf and just made it look easy as pie. (I am not a baker & don’t consider making pie easy😅) it is time to use it or get rid of it! I’m for using it because it looks so cool. You gave me some really great ideas with the lion. It’s a cool thing to make for boys and men, I think. I have a lot of animal stamps. I’ve been practicing on leaves. I thought your clearcut explanations on how to do anything was helpful. I can go back to the different techniques easily. I thought you were knowledgeable and enjoyable to hang out with for a few minutes. Thank you for helping me jump this hurdle.😍
I’m back with the results already. I was going to do one of the other projects you show but decided I have to try the versa mark and sticky powder on black paper. I chose a solid stamp instead. Gilding looks great on an outlined leaves though. I used a 4 x 4 rubber stamp. I used the powder we all use before embossing that I can’t think of the name of. I tidied up first using Swiffers as recommended by Els from Elizabeth craft designs for her glitters, which I love and highly recommend. They make less of a mess than these gilding flakes😂 What’s the results you ask? PERFECTION! I think all of these tips helped but it was very clear I was overheating the sticky powder. You showed how fast it melted. By using the black paper I was able to really see my technique which was horrible. I’m gonna go and make some more of these really cool leaves and try some other things that you recommended, thanks again for your help. You helped me solve the problem! Now, when my granddaughter comes over, wanting to do gilding we can!
THANK YOU! I've been having bad luck using the gilding flakes and I really appreciate how you explained how to use the products. You demonstrated so many fun ways to use the flakes and inspired me in so many ways! Your descriptions were fantastic, your projects were gorgeous and you have a lovely sense of humor to boot! THANK YOU!
Thanks for these fab ideas.....loved them. For those of you watching in the UK .....I use flitter glue by indigoBlu to stick my gilding flakes, works the same, dries sticky, just don’t apply to much🙋🏽👍🏽
Thank you! This has given me an idea: I do suminagshi as well as nail polish marbling. With the sticky glue pen get full sheets of gilding and score tape, I will be able to add a more complete look to the work. A glue pen drawing lines to highlight certain areas would look spectacular! You can get full sheets of leaf paper in gold, rose gold and silver. It’s called shappy in 5.5 x 5.5 inches. Also known as uwazumi. Try Blick as a starting point to find. Good luck!
I have 3 of these color's in gold, rose gold and silver. I like to use them for doing nail designs. Just love how much I get. Lol, and definitely don't breathe 🤣
Thank you for this video, I am so new to gilding flakes and a little scared to experiment but I am super excited too to try different textures for my junk journal pages. Amazing tutorial!
Thank you!! I would not have thought of using water to make my project work. I was getting quite frustrated with what glue to use. I'm going to see if this works. I bet it's the answer I needed!! So thank you!! What made you think of water anyway?
It’s gorgeous and I’ve never tried it. It’s stunning. It looks so difficult! I’m a little afraid!!! The results are really beautiful bb thank you for all the information. Denise

Why on earth would somebody hit the thumbs down???? This was very informative, entertaining and one of the nicest art videos I have seen.
Most helpful of all the videos I've watched today for Some upcoming orojects. Glad to see someone saving the excess od gilding and re

I love this sooooo much I think the brush technique is my favorite, although I like using my bare hands in mixed media crafting the most
Kari, thanks for sharing these techniques. Brushing on water before heat embossing was a new one to me. Brilliant idea!
I really enjoyed your video on this technique! Great info and so enjoyable watching your tutorials! Thank you❤
Looks Roarsome! I just bought some cheapy gold flakes. I'm presuming they'll work the same. Thanks for the tips.

I didn't know they came in colors...wow I'm hooked.

Those cards are beautiful. The glitter wow is it still available? WOWOWOWOW!!!!!!
I really enjoyed your video! I just started using this but tried a different brand on epoxy coasters. After brandishing them, should I Seal the gold?
Thanks loved this! Was looking for away to use these gilden flakes!
I love this, my friend just gave me 3 large cans of guilding flakes that I wasn’t sure how to use them. Thank you.
Brilliant video, new ideas and tips, so good. Now just to actually do it!

Is it possible to stamp an image with the embossing pad and then add the gilding flakes directly, without the sticky embossing powder?
I’m new to gilding. What did you do to your fingers to keep the gilding from sticking to them?
WOW... So Beautiful...
So Very Smart>>> Ideas
Thank YOU for sharing this great video.
I love this tutorial. Now I know how to use the gilding flakes.

Great techniques! I’m excited to try them. Bought some flakes at the last Expo but haven’t tried them out yet.
Thanks for the information on this I’m a new subscriber now
What would I use to apply gilding only to a raised, intricate design on a piece of hard plastic?
Thanks sharing your great technics. God bless you.
Do you have any advice on applying these to cotton rope?
I haven't tried gilding flakes before - it looks like alot of fun! I love what you came up with.
