    Another excellent idea!! We too now have several devices up front and had a few years of wires all over. Then I had come across a 4 USB input to one power point bar and while that's has worked well the past couple of years I really like your idea that basically hides the wires. I WILL be doing your modification with our 2500 diesel Chevy! I ordered the kit for the media server the other day and that comes in next week. Saturday morning videos with Jerry are the best! I usually watch them while having breakfast, Pacific time zone here.

      Thanks a bunch Joseph. Appreciate you watching. We’re planning our western trip for Fall now. Looking forward to seeing the tall trees and some desert cactus.

    Thank you Jerry, I hate all those wires too. Your videos are very informative and helpful. Thanks again and look forward to your next video

    Nice install, I just did the same install a few weeks ago and its much better than having wires everywhere. Love your videos :) Thank you

    Another great video Jerry. We are in the process of installing a dash cam and caught the title thinking it was a camera install. Turned out even better. Had been wondering about how to handle all those wires. :-)

      Thanks KatieLee. This will work with any dash cam. So nice to have all those wires out of the way.

    Another great little DYI project. Don’t remember a review on camera but it looks like the VAVA CD007, great reviews on amazon. Looks like they made newer smaller one but same wiring idea. Couple cameras I looked at connect to the OBD II port but I have something that I think I want to use and I think you might want to check out. It’s called HaulGauge Bluetooth OBD2 scale for tongue weight. It looks like it really works. Weights truck and trailer , and pin weight on truck. One RUclipsr I watched did a Cat Scale comparison and that little thing was just about right on. Pretty amazing. You would be perfect for a review on it. Hint hint..... Think I’m going to try it. Reasonable cost. So definitely going to put this Hardwire Kit to use. Same problem with wires all to a 12V splitters , wires everywhere. That will take off the two for the RV GPS and the camera that will be there shortly. Great kit, didn’t even know that they made that cheater plug. Very nice. That project will happen when it warms up some. Great idea again. Know your happy to hit the road. Now back to my Raspberry project.

      Trying to get these last few projects done that have been building up before we hit the road. The dash cam was under $50. amzn.to/2tM3GuE Wasn’t sure if we would use, but it’s on all the time. One of those “just in case” things. I’ll look into the gauge. Sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing.

    LOL! We feel the same way about all the devices and wires. It's driving us crazy! LOL! We don't have the patience to try this ourselves, but thanks to all these great tips you've shared, I'm now going to consider just hiring a handyman electrician and have them do this. We have our backup camera for the fifth wheel, 2 phones, iPod, 12V inverter for plugging in the laptop. We're also looking into getting a GoPro to mount on the dash so we can record some interesting angles for our channel.
    Great tips Jerry. Another AWESOME video. Thanks for sharing!
    Have a Glamperrific Day!

    I am with you on cleaning up all the cables. But not a fan of those crimp butt connectors. I always try to solder and heat shrink, its just seems way more bullet proof over the long term. But to each his own.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      True Bob. I do both. For low voltage and amp draw, these work ok as long as you give a tug and nothing moves.

    You need to be careful running the wire down the side panel if your vehicle has side air bags. You can damage them easily. I have multiple 12v and USB ports on our Diesel Pusher, but I am having trouble finding a good wifi connected dash cam for it. The GPS is built in.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      Hi Roy. Just wondering, why one with WiFi? Most just store to a SD card.

    • @roydavis2242
      @roydavis2242 5 лет назад

      @@iLoveRVlife If you have WiFi you can set it up so you get notified if someone hits you or breaks in while parked. The owl cam works for cars/trucks but not Motorhomes.

      Gotcha. I had a Viper system installed. Will report to the remote out to about a 1/2 mile.. Since it’s in the truck, it’s with us when we’re touring about.

    Very helpful video. What do you use to keep the flooring in your truck looking so sharp?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      Oh I wish! We went the no carpet route when we purchased the F-350. You were seeing the floors with the mats removed. And those poor mats have had a rough life. I even used them last year to put under the tires when I stuck the truck at the beach in St. Augustine. But that's another story :)

    If it's a device I'm going to be unplugging all the time, like my cell phone, I like to get low priced but quality cords from Monoprice. The small ends sometimes tend to get loose and I just use another one.
    For multiple outlets, I installed something similar to this.
    www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HPSY6AO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    There are many options, colors, currents, switches, etc. to choose from.
    And yes, those USB-C adapters are great. My new phone is USB-C and I still have many Micro-USB cables around. The even let my phone charge fast when using the correct USB outlet.
    I'm going to look into the wiring you did though for long term items.

      Thanks for sharing Gilbert. I bought those first and still may use. I went this route to hide the wires.

    Would you recommend the dash cam that you are using or are there better choices?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      I would. I wasn’t sure how much I’d use, but it’s on now every time I drive. It’s a basic model, under $50. amzn.to/2tM3GuE. There’s probably better units, Garmin, etc. with a higher price. I just wanted something for insurance purposes when dealing with all of the highway crazies.

    Hey DYI RV guy! Do you know if a trailer backup camera can be utilized to view the back of a trailer while driving? I have a Honda Ridgeline with a Navigation System. I plan on investing in a trailer, It will have an optional backup camera, but are other "add ons" needed?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      Usually when a camera comes with a camper, it usually comes with a package that has a wireless screen for the dash. You may need to discuss with the Honda dealer or a car audio shop to see how or if it can be integrated with the factory system. If this is a hardwire connection, you’ll need the camper camera connection specs to share.

    What kind of camera do you have that is attached to the windshield. Thank you for sharing your videos. If you are ever in TN check out Roan Mtn State Park!

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 лет назад

      It's cheap. Less than $50, but has held up for over a year. amzn.to/2tQoaCh Wasn't sure if we'd use much, but it's one of those "rather be safe than sorry" things just in case and it's on every time we crank the truck. I'll check out Roan Mt. We plan to go thru TN later this year.
