Still amazes me that Warner Brothers trusted an independent English filmmaker with only *one* studio movie under his belt (he'd done Memento, sure, but that was entirely on his own and Insomnia was his only other movie with a studio's backing) with this franchise barely seven years after Batman & Robin seemingly killed movies about the Caped Crusader for good. Starting with Bruce's training at the hands of Ra's al Ghul was also a bold choice; that was something the other movies had never touched.

Areeba Aftab very late but Batman Begins is the first one of Nolan’s trilogy The trilogy is: Batman Begins 2005, The Dark Knight 2008 and last but not least The Dark Knight Rises 2012
MrHsharris Same here. Dark Night Rises would have been it for me, but the Two Face story arc substantially taints it. Batman Begins’s only flaw is casting Katie Holmes, but she was passable enough.
Calfan Productions the movie was meh, but Kilmers batman was actually really cool, in my opinion he has the best batman voice out of all the other live action potrayals.
Nah. Bale was alright but he was far from the ideal Batman. His performance wasn’t even the nucleus of what made the Batman films great imo. Which is strange really. Most other heroes like Spider-Man, Superman, etc it’s the actor as the hero who decides the quality the most. But for Batman whether it’s Bale or Affleck or Keaton I’ve never felt that the actor really defined the role or made it particularly bad. But yeah. I think it’s a benefit of Batman anyway, that the actor doesn’t need to define the role. Bale was good, but thankfully not irreplaceable or definitive imo.
Gruagach. Iron Shoes That’s the thing, I disagree. I mean in Justice League for sure he was like Cinderella and in that movie the portrayal was a train wreck But in general Affeck/Shatfleck is a decent actor (never particularly skilled in terms of acting, but can put in some charming performances when the role is moulded around his real life personality a la Gone Girl, Boiler Room, Good Will Hunting, etc). And Affleck’s version of Batman was pretty cool imo. Or at least he seemed to be and had some potential in BvS and Suicide Squad, despite those movies being trash. But yeah whilst I think Bale’s movies were better, and Christian Bale played a realistic and admirable Bruce imo, I think when comparing him and Affleck both as *Batman* rather than *Bruce*..then I think the competition is closer and both were pretty decent. I also think physically and in terms of voice Affleck seemed slightly more convincing as *Batman* but like I said Bale takes an easy W as *Bruce* . But it’s apples & oranges anyway. Each brought their own flavour imo.

Agreed. This one really focused on the Batman, totally awesome. The second focused on the Joker, awesome. The last one was just all over the place, scatterbrained.
Mine too -- this was really close to the comics (save for R'as al Ghul and Batman's odd "I don't have to save you" moment). The Dark Knight never impressed me as much as it did everyone else. Rises is enjoyable but pretty poorly written.
Dark Knight had some holes but from a performance standpoint, Heath Ledger literally changes the entire dynamic of the movie in each and every scene. Rise was disappointing, I agree. I thought Bane was meh and the fight scenes were choppy and weird. So unfortunate Ledger had to leave us, he would have been amazing in the third film.
I think that it’s the best of the three. There are maybe a few reasons for this, but I’ll only mention two. Firstly, Nolan did a great job with the setting in this film. It has touches of German expressionism (watch Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic, ‘Metropolis’) and dark science fiction (think ‘Blade Runner’) - these are stylistic elements of both pre-cinematic noir and neo-noir. Gotham feels like Gotham. This visual aspect was lost in TDK (Gotham becomes Chicago) and TDKR (Gotham becomes New York). Secondly, as suggested already, BB is visually and conceptually a neo-noir classic. Watch any film noir (e.g. ‘The Killers’, ‘Out of the Past’ & ‘Force of Evil’) or neo-noir (e.g. ‘Blade Runner’ & ‘Memento’), and you’ll see what Nolan achieved here. Excluding the absence of a femme fatale, look at the low-key lighting, shadows, Rembrandt style side lighting, low-angle shots, night-for-night shooting, rain, dark alleys and run-down apartments (The Narrows & Arkham), back doors of upscale venues (death of Bruce’s parents), bars (Falcone’s establishment), flashbacks, and so on. This is more than just an underrated movie; it’s a classic.
This just made me realize what I dislike most about DKR, since it was largely shot in Pittsburgh. I hated the city setting in this one. It didn’t feel like Gotham at all. Also there are too many scenes during the daytime. 2 may have a bit too much during the day as well, but it doesn’t suffer like 3 does from this. Dark Knight Rises is definitely my least favorite, but I liked the ending.
@Simulation algorithm not sure why they didn't. The new one is mostly at night actually. And has a lot of shots in Chicago. It feels the most like Gotham of all Batman movies I've seen.
This is where the LEGEND began. I was 3 back then.HELL.Saw it again a month ago... Well... The feeling never change... I gotta rewatch and the other two masterpieces now
Before I bought this movie on itunes several months ago I kind of forgotten how good this movie was as for some reason I always focused on the other 2 films in the trilogy. Really enjoyed seeing it again.

I was 9 and 10 years old when I first saw this movie it became my first Batman movie ever and I started to fall in love with this movie and I wanna say thank you to Nolan,Bale and Warner bros for making my childhood the greatest moments in history. Also I really wish I could go back to 2005 and see these movies again and I miss when kids gets awesome movies and tv shows and it was before MCU and DCEU.

Nolan
1:01 The transition to the lambo with the bass and engine rev is literally too good
1:46 - 2:00
"This summer... Evil fears the Knight."
Cant imagine how hard-hitting this line is..
This movie is a masterpiece and will never get old, period.
Just rewatched it and I want to rewatch it again :/
Rewatched this last night. Can say its a great film!!!!
greatest batmans of all time. these were made for adults not children.
Christopher Nolan's best film so far.
This is where the LEGEND began. I was 3 back then.HELL.Saw it again a month ago... Well... The feeling never change... I gotta rewatch and the other two masterpieces now
1:51 I see little King Joffrey Baratheon :3.
Ser Ilyn, bring me his head
Before I bought this movie on itunes several months ago I kind of forgotten how good this movie was as for some reason I always focused on the other 2 films in the trilogy. Really enjoyed seeing it again.
Here after from the Pattinson interview
I had not seen any other batman movie before this one. It made me think that batman films are always awesome.
This movie even had the best Alfred! Batman movies only focus on the specific character, but this... It gives equal exposures to all characters.
Still my most fav batman of all time
Beginning of the epic triology ever made
1:47 that beat is so catchy.
15 Years, and This Film Still Holds Up!!!
who's here from robert pattinson's jimmy kimmel interview to hear the whispery voice? XD
nostalgic chills run through my veins, and only Nolan can put them there.
As pumped as I am for “The Batman”, it’s going to be extremely hard to match this.
This movie is gonna be good. I can feel it. It might even make a decent trilogy one day
That would've worked better if your comment was from before 2008...
I showed my fiancé the trilogy in November and this was her favorite of the three
Man what a movie that was remember watching this on the day of my graduation freaking loved it remember the time when my brother got the batmobile awesome memories!
10 years already... The first film of the reboot is still the best, IMHO.
0:49 gave me goosebumps 😬
1:44 he is here who the Oppenheimer!!😅😂
lol, ikr
2005 became an iconic year for movies Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire, Batman Begins, Chronicles of Narnia and Madagascar and even Wallace and Gromit the curse of the were rabbit.
I feel the same way.
