    Sorry don't work lol lol. Bro calibrate the compass everytime.. hahaha. Mmmmm so let's add that time in as well and all the up and downs and let me know how long it takes. Lol lol. Not to mention the GPS problem is a hardware issue. Not anything else. Ooo and it's location based. So it takes me 5 to 10 min to get GPS here in Philly but at the NJ shore I get them within 2 min . All hardware my friend.. they chose to use a different GPS module.. mistake.

      @Andy G yes sir. 👍👍I tried to send theM3 back lady week because of this issue and they got honest with me and told me they chose a diff GPS chip which doesn't look for glonas (I believe that's the one but don't quote me) so it's different then the rest of there birds. I think because it's the chip shortage this is all they had.. IMO.. with all that being said. I've decided to keep it because of how amazing the pictures and video are. To notch.. so I go out 10 min earlier then usual lol. Ric bro for the awesome reply.. check me out👍👍👍👍💯💯💙💙

      I agree. With all those steps might as well wait until the correct sats are acquired. I have heard DJI will fix the issue with a firmware update. Others reported that once locked, subsequent flights always lock fast.

    • @PhillyDroneLife
      @PhillyDroneLife 2 года назад +2

      @@jefefpv1695 that is true this problem is only with the first acquire.. after that every battery gets SATs instantly! Not a deal breaker for me so far! Lol. But it is frustrating...

      But the very first software, the 300s, had no problems at all!
      It can't be the chip after all, can it...?

      I've used this method in cities and remote locations, works for me in less than 30 seconds. But yeah, compass calibration is only needed the first time in a location but I included it because a lot of beginner's forget to do it.

    please, show correct calibrating procedure, it is drone that should be rotating by it axis, not you. so many people doing this wrong on camera..

    So instead of waiting for 5 minutes, you are doing crazy useless things for 5 minutes... Well at least you are not bored :-D

      Hahaha... usually takes me 10-20 seconds. DJI updated the firmware so it's a lot better now though.

  • @Naesman1167

    Not really a solution unfortunately. The acquisition of satellites for $2300 should be as passive as it is with the AIR series drones. This is and old sequence I remember having to do with my Phantom 4 Pro. It takes as long to do this as it does to just wait. The up and down process also waste battery and flight time. DJI needs to come with a solution and they've already committed to doing so..

    I think by the time you've gins compass calibration and then up and down and up and down the battery will be at 50% lol no I get it it takes a while I mean like ten minutes for me to obtain satellites but if I take of about 12ft it definitely is quicker but there is a rumours that there aware of this and will be releasing an update for the GPS issue. Thanks for sharing my friend 😁👌👍🇬🇧

    Basically going up and down is same as waiting for few more minutes. DJI Mavic 3 has serious issues with getting gps. I fall for their gimmicks and brought Mavic 3., now I am regretting

  • @TomSpurlock
    @TomSpurlock 2 года назад +1

    That sure wastes a lot of battery, flying up and down, just to set the home point. DJI needs to fix the problem.

    • @brettgaramella
      @brettgaramella  2 года назад +1

      Usually only takes me 10 or 20 seconds to get it to work so maybe 1-3% of your battery life. To me it's not that big a deal, especially with the Mavic 3 that flies for so long.

      @@brettgaramella totally agree - the battery life of the M3 has made it possible to fly almost worry-free from duration issues (while keeping an eye on the clock !)

    My air2s has at times taken a few minutes to lock on to enough satélites. It’s not just the mavic series.

    Good advice. Although personally I think doing a compass calibration every time in the same relative district may be excessive for the casual hobbyist, any adventurous drone flyer who travels far out in the field will ONLY BENEFIT by doing a compass calibration at any new location. Mavic 3 flight control uses a different satellite discrimination architecture than NADA and I'm hypothesizing that it builds and updates its own galaxy chart in internal memory and will orient itself better over time. The second tip is very good because it factors in the Z axis of altitude as the chip is discriminating between signals coming from satellites on the direct azimuth from weak signals that may be bouncing off buildings or bodies of water (droners lover to fly over water)

    • @brettgaramella
      @brettgaramella  2 года назад +2

      Yes, I agree that a compass calibration is only needed once per location area. I do it before each initial take off only. I included it in this video for people who are just getting started with drones.

    I wonder which method uses more battery ... waiting 5 minutes to get full satellites with no blades moving or zooming up and down for 1 minute. In either case, what a pain compared to my M2! Hoping the next firmware update fixes this.

      I'll upgrade my M2 Pro only to the Mavic 3s. It's supposed to come out end of 2022 or early 2023 without GPS issues and with a larger battery. I start disliking DJI because they did the same strategy with the Air 2. First bringing out a mediocre product and after 9 months bringing out the "real" product that they planned to do anyway.

    That is a GPS issue work around. Not a solution. I'm curious to see if the issue is a hardware, satellite network, or firmware.

      No it's a HUGE HARDWARE ISSUE. One GPS system isn't available!!!!
      (Glonass I think)
      I'm sorry but it was an unacceptable decision by dji. And all this cost 3000 !! Attention, the harder it is to lock the GPS, the easier it can be to lose the GPS during the flight !!!

    "People get frustrated because the drone won't take off. That's because they don't take off" Ahh... of COURSE, LOL! We know what you meant. I also get quicker locks by hovering about 25 feet up (better view of the sky) Also, try putting you left foot in, then you take it out.

    Hi Brett. When I don't have enough Satellites, this is what I do. I don't bother to calibrate the compass before each flight. I start the motors like you and I take off to about 12 feet and hover steady. The drone acquires enough satellites and announces "The Home Point has been updated". I land the drone and take off again. For me, I think the drone "sees" the satellites (or the satellites see the drone) better off the ground than while on the ground. Seems to work for me every time I have trouble acquiring satellites.

    The last update didn’t resolve the GPS issue.. So here’s my take… As far as I’m concerned if the M3 can’t take off within the similar time frame of its predecessors it’s a bust. This drone cost twice as much. Yet, seemingly has give us twice the issues as well. I won’t go into the other’s relative to how the drone was launched.. Suffice to say, yes it has a better sensor size and the largest zoom range than any other consumer drone but that means nothing if you have to sit around and wait for satellites. For God sake it’s a camera at the end of the day. The point is that a camera is used to capture the moment. What if you had to wait to use your smart phone camera or your DSLR for over 2 to 5 minutes? Most play this down because this device flies and can provide unique images. However, the glitch with GPS is extremely counterproductive and yes diminishes the overall experience of having this drone. This also creates huge issues regarding its commercial use. We need to be a lot louder about this!

    Definitely worth a try - though I haven't been unduly fazed by waiting a minute or two for a solid lock - sometimes you do need to get out there more quickly

    • @brettgaramella

      Make sure you have 9 or more satellites before you fly away. Once you're at 9, it should stay there or increase as you increase in height.
