I've been a drone pilot for 10 years and have watched a lot of instructional videos; I just want to say I think you nailed it with style and substance in this video. I just started using a new MA3 and i;m loving it. This video will make my shots look even better. Thx
There seems to be some confusion about ProRes in the comments (people saying that ProRes is useless for RUclips anyway) so let's clear this up. ProRes IS NOT AS A DELIVERY FORMAT. You don't use ProRes so that you can present your footage in ProRes. Even ultra high quality BluRay discs are heavily comoressed. The reason you actually use a format like ProRes is for your post workflow. It's easy on the processor due to limited compression and allows for an editor really push the color grade wherever they want it to go without breaking the image up. 10bit footage is a HUGE benefit if you are doing anything more than minor tweaks. It's damn near necessary if you are using proper LOG formats. ProRes is just a convenient, low compression, fairly standardized wrapper for that 10bit footage. You can get some similar image quality out of HEVC, but it's intense on your editing workflow. To summarize. ProRes is not for delivery. It is for editing. So YES it does have strong use for RUclips content depending on your workflow. *Steps off soap box*
@@messyfilms6325 There were definitely more, it was not pointless because thread comments get much less traction for the people who need to hear it, and I have heard this same comment on repeat across forums, Reddit, RUclips, and anywhere ProRes is a part of the conversation since the new iPhone dropped. As a roof top tent owner/user, I think it's pretty interesting to see at 6:17 the placement of the black SUVs ladder! I know I'd be pretty sketchy climbing down that ladder, dark, middle of the night, for the call of nature, with that ravine a meter from my step off 🤣🤞🤞🤣 But great content as always bro 👍 Merry Xmas from Australia!
i like the to the point explanation without too many difficult jargons...just having my first drone with mini 3...and eating a lot of explanations and tips from creators to catch up :-)
Have you tried low to the ground or water shots that have a fast passing quality? I might want to do this but I was wondering is there a 'hard deck' (Top Gun reference:) that we should not go below?
Sharpest f-stop is f4.0-4.5 on this lens. Doesn’t mean you can’t use it at other aperture‘s but if you’re going for maximum sharpness without diffraction that’s where you want to keep it. more important for still photos I think than for video because video is constantly moving and a little bit of softness I think would be less noticeable. Depends on your subject matter too. Native iso on M3 is 400 or 800 for Log
@5:38 Few vloggers mention this point but I think a good slowmo specs is a great feature to have on a drone! The Mavic 3 can do 4K/120p which is really cool!
Can anyone please advise me? Do you use ND filters when shooting D Log M? Or would that defeat the purpose of post editing since the ND filters alter the color grading?

Question: With aperature at f11 to get the starburst are you using a filter? I tried this but didn"t get the same effect. I did have a ND8/PL on and then tried a CPL filter.
Hi! beautiful video 😊 I want to ask you a question, before with magic 2 pro there was a dji lut for the official website now with the mavic 3 we have the same or not? thanks
I’m surprised you didn’t get the cine version for the ProRes. For the epic scenes you capture and dynamic range in lower light, I thought you’d want everything you could get out of the CODEC. I’m on the fence, not really needing the ProRes or Smart controller, but…

Great tutorial, Jeven. Thank you for that. I also do like Log, for the reasons you mentioned. To my knowledge the M3 in Log is locked in either ISO 400 or ISO 800. Is it true and do you require higher ND filters to compensate for the increased brightness? Thank you again, for your effort.

Am I missing something or does the mavic 3 cine only film in 400 or 800 iso in pro res DLog?
