      Does the US have some sort of fast approval system for FlyCart Flights for BVLOS - Beyond Visual Line of Sight and Load carrying flights ?
      I don't understand why DJI introduced a drone that can reach 28km Max Flight Distance Without Payload if the current regulations in the EU and most Non-EU countries do not authorize BVLOS and EVLOS and require Operational Authorisation by Aviation Authorities, based on a risk assessment and flight plans.

    • @switch72
      @switch72 6 месяцев назад +8

      @@Summitic The max distance is a measure of total distance flown, not distance away from the control station. As an agricultural product you would use this to apply fertilizer/pesticide/herbicide to fields. In which case your boom width might only cover 20ft of width, so you would need to fly back and forth multiple passes over the same field to cover it. If the field is 1/5th mile long and it takes you 40 passes to cover it, that would be 8 miles of "flight distance"

    • @Summitic
      @Summitic 6 месяцев назад

      @@switch72 If a dog runs back and forth 4 times on a 5-meter course, that dog will have run a total of 40 meters.
      I was referring to the distance specified in the product manual which is the distance from the Remote Control or Control Station not The total distance it can fly on a single set of fully charged dual batteries.
      The DJI FlyCart 30 can fly up to 20 kilometers away from the remote controller (RC) while maintaining a reliable video transmission signal.
      What is the point of that given the regulations and the laws ? That was my questions !
      my second questions was : Does the USA have different approval systems for these drones to allow them EVLOS and BVLOS flights ?

    12:52 regarding helicopters flying low. In order to initiate auto-rotation safely while flying slow you need to be flying high as the first thing you do is push full down collective to maintain rotor speed and then usually push into forward flight. But you can also do it while flying low and fast such that you flare to increase altitude while giving down collective to keep the rotor rpms up. Where you get into trouble is flying both low and slow. Take a look at the helicopter "height-velocity curve" aka "Dead man's curve".

    Just think, when the DJI ban passes, this guy is probably going to have to find another supplier, replace all those drones, AND unload the current drones at a discount. This might put these guys out of business. So who exactly are we hurting by implementing and outright ban? Even IF we hurt DJI more, we're still giving ourselves self-inflicted wounds. Would make more sense to force DJI to stand up a U.S. data-center and sell US specific equipment, but I digress.

    Back in the early 2000’s, I remember a video of these three guys standing at the base of a mountain, next to water. They were launching an RC Helicopter, that they had made autonomous, up the hill and it flew between buildings. It carried a camera. Those guys were the beginning of DJI.
    The video was posted on a forum. I was part of an Internet forum, dedicated to RC Helicopters, that had a subsection dedicated to interesting projects. We were trying to stabilize a contraction that basically was 4 tail booms with tail rotors attached to the center section of training gear…I.e- a square block of wood cut from a 2x4 board. The tail rotors were from .30 size helicopters. Peizo gyros were just coming in to the market, but I was using two Futaba G130 mechanical gyros. I wouldn’t consider it a success at all, but those guys figured it out. Yaw was an issue along with many others. They were just fun projects made from spare parts that barely flew. I bought my first Octocopter kit in 2006. It was a German kit and life hasn’t been the same since.

It was a round can about the size of a soda can. I used it on a Vario XLV with awesome results back then but definitely subpar for today’s standards. Once the MK MikroKopter came out and the stability was recognized, helicopters just didn’t seem to work anymore for camera use… no competition other than the amount of weight lifted. I was carrying a Cannon MK 1 with the heli and at the time, MR’s couldn’t lift it back then. So we settled for the smaller stuff. That's because they absolutely would. The props are carbon fiber and the motors are 4kW apiece. That's basically equivalent to the average lawnmower engine. And there's 8 of them.

    I can only say that DJI is the best when it comes to drones, they put so much effort to make the flight experience a breeze! Unfortunatelly the capabilities are very limited by many, too many drone laws, which yes, we do need but the wors is the VLOS, which makes the telemetry irrelevant in most cases…

    Amazing video!
    5:25 - I'm really liking how Chinese at using these to construct solar farms on hills since it can easily carry a full-size solar panel up a hill. It can position the solar panel exactly on spot too, not just bulk carrying so that must save on tons of labor.
    7:05 - don't need that huge battery to start up an internal combustion engine car. A small 3s 2000mAh LIPO (or smaller) can do that because LIPO has big amps for its small size. Been there done that.

    • @no1DdC
      @no1DdC 8 дней назад

      Speaking of positive uses of this: They could use this drone for emergency battlefield evac. Due to the widespread use of anti-air weapons, you can't use helicopters for this in Ukraine, which means evac either doesn't happen or is done with vulnerable APCs that can get stuck in minefields (or just the mud), disable by artillery and RPGs.
      Then again, this thing is so large that it would have a huge radar signature and probably be instantly targeted by AA guns, so it's likely not that great of an idea.

    On my channel are the only VTOL ion propelled drones that carry their power supplies against gravity! While they don't lift a lot of weight, they fly almost silently and can fly without any moving mechanical parts! They are designed to prospectively work in space someday as well with a few modifications. Currently the steering and stabilization systems are still being developed.
