When you talked about The advantages of shooting in H265 codek , you did not speak of the increased need for computing power to process them. I know when my older Mac Pro I could barely even playback 4K. in .264, let alone process it. Now with a 2019-16” MacBook Pro I can do 4K/.264 decently but may struggle with .265. Also With previous drones there’s always been some tweaking of the stick controls on the transmitter to get smooth panning and gimbal movements. I’d like to hear about these settings if you’ve adjusted them. Or need to.
Some good info here, thanks for posting. Please note when talking about aperture settings, saying using a LARGER aperture does NOT mean a larger number, it's the opposite. The smaller the number the WIDER the aperture, or the more OPEN the aperture is. The numbers really represent a fraction (i.e. an aperture of 2 is really 1/2, meaning the diaphragm is 50% open. An aperture of 8 is really 1/8 open or 12%, etc). So it's best to use phrases like "open up the aperture" when one talks about allowing more light in, and "stop down the aperture" when referring to letting less light in. Just trying to help!
@@rc863 No, what he says is not only wrong, but confusing for someone not familiar with apertures, and how they affect the light entering the sensor. He is NOT saying larger or smaller as you suggest; he says higher/lower, which is confusing.
Hi, good vid, BUT, you should NEVER ever leave your white balance on auto when shooting video, as the colour balance will change throughout the shot - also, you should never, when talking about aperture, say higher or lower, as that makes it ambiguous/very confusing; you should say larger/bigger or smaller aperture.
Hey. Great video. You nailed the settings. Two comments: 1- with photos you set everything up but did not mention how to use the EV setting to get exposure where you want it. 2 - for video you missed the white balance setting. Photos you leave on auto. But for video you should set it to manual so when filming it will it change all over as you move the drone around. Now this is a flaw in the new M3 software. On the M2P you could select auto white balance and have the software set it optimally and then turn it back to manual to hold that setting for filming. But the new M3 when you try this is reverts back to 2800k and forces you to set your white balance manually without the help of the software. Hope DJI fixes this. Anyway overall great video. Looking forward to your ND filer review. I am curious how good the ones are that DJI ships with the M3. I use polar pro most of the time for my M2P
I do thank you a lot. For this explanation, just got my mavic 3 today , its first time use drone. Hopefully do my certification then start my journey. Thanks again for ur efforts.
Dude thank you 🙏 for this awesome video man. I am about to try these settings on my Dji Mavic 3 and see how they work for me. This is awesome. You have a big supporter and long to subbed here. Have a great weekend.
Hi I purchased a mavic 3 classic and I'm learning how to use dlog but the first time I recorded with dlog i quick transfer to my phone cuz that's where I edit my footage but it wouldn't even let me view it
Excellent info. Just when you talking about the photo frame ratio, you are saying to keep at 3:2 but in reality this camera has M43 size sensor with aspect ratio 4:3. It actually shows visually the correct ration in you video but in your words you say 3:2. Minor detail only.
honestly, i’m halfway through this video and if you didn’t really understand these fundamentals in photography & videography, you really have no business buying a mavic 3. get a cheaper option and learn and master the basics. I just need to know why the mavic has iso locked in at either 400 or 800 iso and doesn’t give me the option to go higher when in log
Nice video. I just got back from a trip, where I was videoing a lot of people swimming in the ocean. The water was relatively dark, so all the people are overexposed, very white. I would like to avoid this in the future, maybe with dlog, but I don't know how to color correct. Why don't they have software that automatically color corrects, even if it's not perfect. Guess I also could of changed the exposure manual going to say +3. Also I almost always shoot in explorer mode, because I want to be able to zoom in at any time, without stopping the recording. So in explorer mode, most of your recommend settings are not available.
@@airbazoo hey man I am watching this video again. I finally have my M3 and was looking to do my first flight. I noticed in photo mode you did not follow the 180 rule. Is this because you are looking for the sharpest image possible? And did you use ND filters? Thanks again
Thanks for this informative video.. with the setting you have do you use nd filter with that or you need to change the settings everytime you use nd filter?
First,I would say change D-log if you're in a high contrasted scene. If not avoid.Less post-production. HLG could be a good compromise. Second, except if you've a Mavic 3 Pro Cine, careful with logarithmic profil. Need more action on your footage during grading. Mavic 3 pro Cine (Pro res) subsample in 4:2:2 if i'm correct whereas Mavic 3 / Mavic 3 Pro have don't (420). This give you less space for working on your pictures whithout altering it(Banding). Could be solved if you're ready to downgrade the final resolution though.
@@MariusIhlar - possible you aren’t giving enough exposure? Are you finding you frequently have to brighten exposure in post? My understanding is for D-log you need to bump exposure 1 to 1.5 stops. Keep histogram to the right.
Good job man. But you can shoot a lot slower shutter speed than 120th of a sec most of the time if needed. Especially if not much wind. You can shoot 2-4 seconds in low light in fact. Also, 30fps?? That’s the news man. Lol
Just wondering why the Mavic 3 in Dlog only has 400 and 800 options for ISO? The Mavic 2 Pro there was the option of 100 ISO. What ND filter to you find you're using the most on the Mavic 3?
So I have the mavic 3 all I see is JPEG. When I switch to video I can only see 4K 30fps & 1080 30fps. What am I doing wrong? Or why does it only give me these options?
Double check if you have the latest update! If it’s still not working for you try factory resetting your drone - these settings should be available immediately.

Hello! I would appreciate if anyone can help! Can I insert an external SD card to help with the limited 8gb of storage on the mavic 3? If so, say I insert a 64gb card and run out of room for footage during my session, and need to insert a new SD card. Am I able to take out the first SD card and immediately download it onto the computer? Also, when recording, I'm afraid my video will somehow split and some will be saved onto internal storage and some may be on my SD card. Can I make it to where it's all saved on the SD card to avoid getting split? Last question, for footage saved solely on the internal 8gb storage, if I want to upload this onto my laptop I have to have the whole drone plugged into my laptop right? Is there any difference in the quality of the internal storage memory vs the SD card memory? THANK YOU!! !!
Hey there! The mavic 3 accepts MICRO SD only - you’re able to eject the card and insert into a computer as you would be able to regularly after recording as the drone writes directly to the card. If the memory card becomes full the drone will just simply stop recording - you will then have the option to either land and insert a new card OR you can switch to internal memory (8gb) mid flight. So there’s no chance of clips splitting. Finally to get the internal storage footage into your computer you will have to power on the drone and plug into your computer directly via USBC hope this helps :)
@@airbazoo Thank you SO much!! Is there any specific SD card reader you recommend?
