I only have two Gripes about Byleth's representation in smash:
1. No God-Shattering Star
2. His final smash doesn't have him say his best Crit Line "HERE IS SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN!"
Where is byleths magic at. His budding talent is faith yet no magic smh.
Smash Byleth trained in sword, axe, bow, lance, and a little bit of brawling.
The best quote Byleth has made.
My gripe is that Male Byleth is the default
@@Lechgang Eh, agree to disagree. I think Male Byleth's design is better overall.
Its intresting seeing someone who's actually played Fire Emblem talking about each character rather than generalizing them as anime swordswordsmen.
Most discussion about the series in Smash is very Smash fan hate bias more than anything.
I mean I like FE games but I say that about them too lol.
Especially since Fire Emblem is a VIDEO GAME series and not an anime. Sure, maybe there was a two-part OVA, but that's it. Pokémon's the one with the popular long-running anime.
@Lucineon I think the issue is not too many Fire Emblem characters, but too many Fire Emblem Awakening characters. Like Chrom really blurred the line between Ike and Marth/Roy, and Lucina just feels like an unnecessary addition. And also it doesn't help that Chrom, Marth, Ike (odd number alts) and Byleth basically have the same haircut, thus making them feel like the same character in a way.
Also we only get protagonists from that series, like give us Black Knight or some other villain. Like how does Final Fantasy get a villain before Fire Emblem? It just doesn't make sense to me, and this is coming from someone who was disappointed by Byleth's reveal and has never played a FE game.
@@SeanWheeler100 They still have the anime art style, and you can't expect people who are not fans of the series to know if it has an anime or not

The like number
I think one of the coolest things about Marth's tipper mechanic is that it promotes a playstyle in smash similar to a common strategy in Fire Emblem.
The best way to take advantage of Marth's tipper in smash is to stay just outside of the enemy's range and then punish a whiffed attack.
This is comparable to the strategy in Fire Emblem where you put your units one tile outside of the enemy range, and then after they use their turn to move closer, finish them off now that they're in your range.
All sword characters can do this, but I think Marth shows it off best with his tipper.
Also imho they should bring back Marth's old dancing blade. It was really cool trying to time each input and it would be another way to differentiate Marth and Roy. Marth having the elegant, methodical dancing blade, while Roy has the explosive, powerful dancing blade.
I can't agree more with this comment
Pulling off the tips on the old dancing blade felt so good, now it's nothing more than 4 rushed attacks
And I've always felt the same way with Marth's tipper as you mention it, the tip mechanic is just so great at portraying Fire Emblem in general.
That's a good point on tippers, though I honestly thing the mechanic is also a reference to the Rapier starting weapon, since rapiers are typically known as a weapon the gets its strikes in with the tip.
It was cool to have to time it, but it also made it so that every new player thought Marth’s Side Special was just a single, underwhelming slash
So I guess Roy is the strategy of just killing everyone with stronger front liners before they get a chance to strike. Or something like that. Makes sense I like it.
It's neat to note Byleth using Aymr against most other FE characters isn't ideal since it's slow and that you should use Areadbhar cause of its range, representing the weapon triangle.
Shame there is no spears, otherwise amyr would have them destroyed instantly lol
...which is absent from Three Houses, how ironic
Yet, excelent portrayal of lance units, i wish Ephraim was in smash ;v;
@@skylarkuznetsov2354 Same.
@@SVD63Ninja doesn't Byleth's spear also work well against aymr? The end lag helps a lot with tippers lol
@@VeritasEspiritoria well yes,but at the same time areadbarr can be quite laggy too. Meaning amyr has an easier time hitting them than a swordie.
It always bothered me how Chrom and Lucina fight differently in smash when un Awakening Lucina said she learned from him.
Yeah, if anything, they should be echo fighters of each other.
Chrom died when lucina was still a baby, and she pretended to be marth, so it makes sense for her to copy marth's fighting that was probably better documented than chrom's
@@arzfan29 she literally said she learned from her father
They’re still similar enough since Chrom is an echo of a semi-clone to Marth. At least he’s not an echo of Ike who is completely different from that playstyle.
@@arzfan29 Lucina admits in the game she was taught how to fight by her Father, not Marth. It makes no sense. Pure and simple.
The fact that Byleth doesn't say "here is something to believe in!" in Smash is a goddamn crime

It's nice to see someone talk about Fire Emblem in Smash while actually being a Fire Emblem fan because that's rare. Most talk about the series in Smash is just " they stole my favorite characters slot ", or " too many Fire Emblem characters" and etc. While FE in Smash is overrepresented with so much filler clone characters Sakuari did do a pretty decent job making them accurate to there game's in a lot of ways. Although I do wish Byleth had brawling in his moveset tho.
Well as a consolation, byleth's jab 3 references brawling counterattacks with a high kick.
I always thought Robin had Nosferatu in Smash because of backstory reasons...yanno, considering the reasons they were born and later (accidentally) made an amnesiac. Picking a specific option at the end of Awakening even lets them unleash a dark magic spell without any tome whatsoever in order to kill the final boss for good.
I believe there is a possibility to get a skill to learn dark magic but it's from a small dlc. If I'm correct that is.
@@ChaolaoFueChi Yeah that's Shadowgift. Aversa has it in Awakening and can pass it on to Morgan(F) if she marries Robin. Some cards (Eljin-whatever) in the DLC have it too (I looked it up: it's Katarina and Micaiah) and those obvs can't be inherited or shared. Witches in Fates learn it immediately on class change.
Unlimited Dark Magic is a girls-only club, apparently.
@@conspiracypanda1200 indeed.
I've gotten most of the dlc and it's been awhile since I remember it.
You're right it was because of backstory reason, Masahiro Sakurai in a interview "I gave Robin the ability to use Nosferatu as a Tactician in order to capture certain aspects of the original title".
Wait, i thaught Byleth's Final Smash was called Sothis.png! At least me and my friends call it that.
LOL!
Idiot...
...but yeah you right though lol.
Excuse me, but that's clearly Sothis.gif
The fun thing about Roy in Smash is that, both in his Fire Emblem and Smash debut, he sucked. So that's actually something he had in common with his Smash portrayal.
He does get a lot better once he gets The Bidning Blade and he promotes, and he did get also a lot better in Smash 4 (not quite to make him top tier, but a far cry of the meme he was in Melee)
So perhaps unintentionally Sakurai also reflected his late-budding performance
Byleth’s dash attack animation being ripped straight from Three Houses is great. Also rapid jab is Ruptured Heaven... kinda
speaking of byleth, side tilt looks exactly like the follow up attack in 3H. that was the first thing i noticed when i saw their moveset in smash
I think the low speed stat for Byleth is somewhat explained by how equipment has weight in 3 Houses. So carrying 4 heavy weapons should slow Byleth down, though probably not to this extent.
I mean that's in a lot of FE games but I'd argue Byleth has good speed but later on, he tends to not outdo enemy speed later...FE inflated Growth stats so really his is pretty avg tbh besides a good base. I'd argue Relic weapons he has on him weighs him down more in Smash especially the Axe and Lance since he has *all the weapons* on at once kind of. Axe is the slowest, Lance is Middle of the road, Sword and Bow are quick in animations too. To break it down even easier 45% speed is good from like Ike's games and earlier but Awakening and onward 60% is just the better speed growth for or is that good 45% range we feel in the older games so I think it makes sense.
You're only weighed down by the equipped weapom though so carrying all four wouldn't weigh them down more than just carrying one
“There’s no type of parry or engirding mechanics in fe”
There is literally one ability called counter that returns the damage taken
Wasn’t that introduced in path of radiance tho? After melee
@@mcspankys
I don't know if it was PoR that debuted it, but yes, Counter wasn't around until after Melee.
This may be a long shot, but I think counter may also draw reference to how if your stats are much higher than your opponent, then the unit will end up taking no damage and then do a devastating amount of damage in return because of the level gap.
@@firewolf950tfwgaming7
That's still not a counter and implies that the move is somehow DRASTICALLY leveling up the character for a brief period to the point where they're so high level that they take no damage.
@@espurrseyes42 That’s why I said it’s a long shot. Being at a higher level is consistent and not a momentarily thing, but I was also proposing it while also considering creative liberties. From the way I see it, the back and forth style gameplay being represented by a counter is a loose connection at most, my attempt to maybe expand on it was in suggesting it possibly alluded to that concept and not a complete justification.
I'm not sure if this was on purpose or not, but Failnaught being used for neutral attacks fits well with how Claude and the Alliance are neutral in the war.
Then... the lance is for side attacks because dimitri wants to move forward (i guess), aymr is for down attacks because edelgards true goal lies in eradicating those who slither in the dark, who hide below the ground, and the sword of the creator is for up attacks because in the church route, you essentially help the church take over the continent, and religion is associated with heaven?
(I realize my reasoning is flimsy at best, but i haven't played three houses in a while)
@@dededeletethis9940 holy heck that makes so much sense
It also make you think about how bows are generally neutral when it comes to the weapon triangle (specifically the one in FEH). Both Claudes do have colourless bows after all.
Well I mean he's not quite neutral but yeah definitely a lot closer to neutrality than Edelgard and Dimitri.
Also one thing that nobody ever points out but it's always bugging me: Lucina and chrom canonically have an identical fighting style. In fact, during the arena ferox cutscene in awakening, where they fight, chrom is surprised to see someone who matches perfectly his combat style, so much that he also asks her who taught her to fight. To which she replies "My father" (of course).
So yeah, I feel it would've been better to keep roy as an echo of marth and chrom as an echo of lucina
Agreed. I also think that Roy’s revamped moveset was originally gonna be Chrom’s because sakurai originally wanted Chrom in but couldn’t make a moveset in time.
It's weird in Awakening too though. Ferox Arena is the only instance where we see their supposed similar fighting style. For the rest of the game they use different animation sets Chrom's unique animations are reckless and with weight behind them, reflecting his reputation for breaking walls when training. Lucina's animations, which she shares with Marth from spotpass and DLC, are less overcommitted and portray a much more calm and calculated fighting style.
@@schw4rztee502 interesting, I don't remember it rn but it's something I'll take a look at next time I'll play through it.
Also yeah, fire emblem's infamous incoherence is worse than ever in awakening.
Except in game they use different animations for several different attacks.
@@schw4rztee502 i think that is most reflected in their non-crit, non-skill finisher animation. chrom jumps in the air and swings the sword down, while lucina does a lunging stab. also, just a funny detail i read about. chrom does not have access to the mercenary class, so he misses out on the skill that helps preserve weapons. a nice, sneaky reference to his habit of accidentally breaking things (and i do think that is a reference, since he otherwise fits the mercenary class perfectly)
It’s nice hearing someone not just generalize the characters from my favorite nintendo series
byleth's speed is slow due to them carrying many weapons at once,
So their constitution sucks?
That is not how that works though...
@@thestylemage2092 But that's exactly how the con system works in Fire Emblem. Hold too much heavy shit and you end up being slow. Robin and Byleth being slow make so much more sense if you apply context like that.
@@nuibaba280 not really. consitution does not care about how much you carry, only the weight of the weapon being used at the moment. however, the consitution explanation could make sense for byleth in another way, since swords tend to be the lightest weapons, while axes tend to be the heaviest. creator sword starts and ends fast, areadbhar is quick, but somewhat laggy, and aymr is overall very slow
I always consider the Chrom that appears from Robin's Final Smash being someone who came from the Outrealm Gate like how you can battle in StreetPass in Awakening.
I still think it should be changed out for someone like Frederick, Morgan, Lissa, plus maybe a parent depending on the alt of Robin (either randomly, or cycling)
@@guidomista3570 morgan should have replaced chrom for robins final smash. the only real obstacle here would be making two models and getting two voice actors. even then, voice actors would not be a problem, considering how consistently FE characters have the same actor (matt mercer has been voicing chrom in all of his apperances)
@@Underworlder5 and as for the model thing, the body would be pretty simple to make, as just a smaller Robin. though hair color could be a minor issue, just randomly selecting one from options to Robin's gender, or, more likely, just setting it to black would be an easy fix. and their faces are somewhat similar to their parents', so that's not much of an issue either. It's a simple fix, and makes even more sense given good ol' Chrome is in.

Because of Smash, I thought Marth was a vain pretty boy, Ike was an emotionless badass and Roy was an energetic boy.
I was so wrong.
Let me guess, it was those comics that made Marth seem vain and stuff? In Smash 4 they made Marth smile in his victory screens though
@@mythoughtsexactly2145 Well, that. And my first impression with the character in the game.

THANK YOU for addressing Lucina’s off characterization. It bothers me so much.
Well technically, it’s off character in the ENGLISH dub. When pulling up the Japanese dub of the game Lucina is more in character toward Marth and Ike as he she basically Fangirls and stutters over Marth and is just amazed at Ike. Why they localization team changed it is beyond me especially since the reveal trailer still had her portrayed somewhat decent to her Awakening depiction.
@@firewolf950tfwgaming7 Oh yeah it’s only in the localization.
@@starfalchion4404 me too! No one ever talks about it. Why localization team!?
@@firewolf950tfwgaming7 That was clearly just the Smash localization team never knowing Lucina's character and never bothering to change it.

There is also the fact that I f'n LOVE the japanese voices, so whatever.
The Roy that best portrays his Smash character is his Legendary alt in FEH. Legendary Roy is still viable and competent, and his special lines are all delivered in an aggressive tone.
If they ever get around to remaking Binding Blade, I’d love for them to adjust Roy to match his Smash personality more
Fire Emblem seems to be adjusting Roy a lot. Roy's Heroes artwork takes some cues from his Smash design and Roy's amiibo appearance in Echoes has him fight exactly like how he does in Smash.

I think they could incorporate the “sword beams” into Ike’s down B. When he counters a projectile he sends out a blue flame sword beam back at the opponent. This would help his counter stand out more compared to Marth’s and would kind of represent the “distant counter” skill from FeH.
I hella wish Ike could get that counter from a distance but Sakurai may need to ask another permission.

God bless you for using fates music. All this is a callback. Great video
Can we appreciate how except for the echoes, each character since Ike has been very unique?
Well I guess it's just that every other character besides the echos arent lords. Ike starting as a ranger but becoming a lord by the end of PoR but becoming a Hero class in RD well before the release of Brawl. As well as each of the "Avatar" characters having an unqiue class.
I have the feeling that sakurai is saying what he wants for every new avatar in their base mechanics and design so he can have something new to works with.
Your daily reminder that Chrom and Roy play differently

I'm not that big into the FE series and was pretty salty about Byleth. But since then I've really grown to appreciate the series and it's characters. Both through trying the games and vids like this.
Byleth's weapon reminds me of Ivy from Soul Caliber.
One thing that gets overlooked frequently is that Lucina is supposed to have the same fighting style as Chrom. She uses his sword, his skills, aether, and even in one cutscene they visibly mirror each other's moves. Yet Chrom is a fast, brutal rush down character based on Roy and Lucina is the elegant duelist based on Marth.
Not as faithful as I'd like it but whatever.
It's because they're clones. It still works since Roy and Marth still share a lot of moveset similarities. Naturally making Chrom and Lucina similar clones.

Holy crap this video actually got me into fire emblem
As an FE player the things I have always appreciated most about each character is the 1 for 1 recreation of moves that the characters do in game. Such as Marth, Ike, and Byleth's side tilts just being there normal attack animations from their games and Corrin's dash attack being on of their critical hit animations. There are many more moves than this that are 1 for 1 recreations but those are just my favorites.

Byleth and Sans are the only Smash characters who use bones as their weapons
Wait for Alolan Marowak to be added as DLC lol
i thought sans purely uses the gun in his boss fight? is that bones too, or just fan theories
This is a wonderful video goodjob I really enjoyed it
A tiny thing to note is that the four characters that have a fairly similar moveset all have the same base class, Lord. The remaining ones with different movesets start out as Ranger, Tactician, Nohr Princess, and Commoner.
Of note for Lucina's meaner personality, this is mainly in the English version. In the original Japanese, the quotes are more meant to show reverence to the legends, but the localizers made her more cocky.
Agh the disconnect with Lucina's character and her lines in Smash have always bothered me. She's my favorite FE character, and it really hurts to hear how the people who put her into this game had seemingly no concept of who she is. Lucina is VERY respectful, and would never say anything like that to... well anyone, really, but especially these two who are literal living legends. ESPECIALLY Marth, holy shit. In Awakening it's shown that Lucina learned sword fighting from her father, Chrom, but her actual in-combat fighting style is identical to that of the SpotPass version of Marth himself. They even use the same basic sprite. She even uses his name when trying to disguise herself! She has THE biggest case of Hero (king) worship, and the idea of her being this dismissive or even derisive towards him (or again, really anyone) simply does not mesh with her original portrayal.
If the Lucina from Awakening could hear how the Lucina from Smash acts after beating Marth, she'd probably die of mortification.
“She has THE biggest case of Hero King worship”
I see you’ve never heard of Kris before. Well, maybe that doesn’t count because the worship goes both ways
@@Edgeperor That’s just a bromance.
It was a localization mistake

3:51 Marth used to be a REALLY good fighter (like in every iteration prior to ultimate). However, he took a massive nerf where all his tipper hitboxes are harder to hit.
I am not going to forget Byleth's power from the Sephiroth challenge.
Only reason is Aymr.
Admittedly I was on Normal, but hitting a full-charged Aymr on an unuspecting opponent is satisfying.
Hehehe... "Most characters are represented well"...
Being a Sonic fan is painful sometimes...
Besides my suffering, I love to understand characters from an actual fans' perspective, either my own or others. And your dedication to the series is something I never see with Fire Emblem.
18:18 Technically that’s in character. I always think of that as Grima secretly pulling the strings.
I like to think Roy is different in Smash due to character development. He's still very much Roy, but he's gained confidence over the course of his journey, which has translated into him being more willing to rush in.
And it's good to see a Smash video that doesn't just slander FE or its characters in Smash. It's refreshing.
GREAT video, this was a lot of fun to watch!
I glad I watched this, I main Ike and 2 other characters in Smash, but I’ve never played any Fire Emblem game. 😅
I dont mind Lucy having the exact same moveset with Marth, but not having her iconic battle stance hurts me a little everytime
Nice to see a video liking the Fire Emblem characters. I got into Fire Emblem thanks to Robin and Corrin being in Smash. I loved both characters and I main Corrin. Fire Emblem: Fates - Conquest and Fire Emblem: Awakening are my favorite Fire Emblem games now, I love the plots, characters, and music, but them being in Smash helped.
19:54 I honestly rarely used Yato in my any of my Fates playthroughs, prefering to use Dragonstones and Dragonstone+s.
When you realize Roy is technically a smash bros original character.

19:51 I mean it’s good and all but I’d definitely say it’s more of a “ I hold on to this weapon forever because it gives me plus 2 Def/res while in inventory even though I’m a wyvern lord or something and I can’t use it”
Really nice video! Btw your gameplay is really sick!
Actually Marth and Lucina's Dolphin Slash could be a reference to FE 4's crit animation for the swordmasters, They're quite similar.
Noooooo, it comes from Thracia 776
It's in both, and the lords had it too, but had the spin instead of the swordmaster backflip
Yo this is a great video. I see a lot care that went into both research and editing. Good stuff.
Thank you so much for putting the music used in the discription!
I kind of wish you went more in depth about Marth's moveset and his origins. Many of his moves are inspired by animations from FE1, FE3, FE4, and FE5.
Marth's slow walk animation is directly inspired from FE1 and FE3 where he walks towards his opponent before hitting them. A good number of his moves are inspired from FE1. F-tilt is inspired by his rapier animation, F-smash is taken from his "normal sword" animation, Up-smash is inspired by his Mercurius animation where it makes a spark as he twirls the sword upwards. and his final smash is taken from his FE1 crit animation. The hp bar used was taken from FE3 in Brawl and Awakening in Smash 4/Ultimate. I'm not so sure about his aerials, but the closest resemblance I can make to his fair and bair are the mercenary and armor knight sword animations respectively. His backflip animation when he double jumps is also taken from his Falchion animation from FE1.
Shield Breaker is obviously taken from the fact that the rapier, Marth's personal starting weapon, deals effective damage on armored units as well as cavalry. The stabbing animation is most likely taken from FE3. Counter is also taken from Marth's dodge animation in FE3. His fast walk animation is most likely inspired by his crit animation in FE3 as well.
Dancing blade is inspired by how brave weapons in FE4 and FE5 allow you to attack up to 4 times. The color of upward strikes are most likely taken from the Luna skill, which makes blue sparks before attacking. Downward strikes are taken from Astra, which make green sparks, and the last downward strike has 5 hits just like the skill itself. I'm not sure about the red color of forward strikes, but my best guess is either the Sol skill, or they just wanted another color to differentiate between the different attacks, and red made the best color. Dolphin slash is inspired by the swordmaster crit animation in FE4 and FE5 where they slash upwards and jump high into the air.
So most of Marth moves are coming from the Best FE of all Time (You Know Genealogy of Holy War)
@@anthonygerardotorresgonzal6269 Right. Most of his moveset comes from the best FE game (Mystery of the Emblem)
@@anthonygerardotorresgonzal6269 you really write weird New Mystery of the Emblem

Basically canon Roy is Melee Roy and the new version is basically a meme character based off of Shonen protags.
Fantastic video, I really wish Ike had sword beam like Cloud and that Robin/Byleth were just a bit less slow. Balance is everything but that would make them so much more fun to play as
I love how in Roy's footage you fail to connect a lot of combos which makes it a great reference to the bad hit rates in FE6
Chrom struggling at the ledge is a great reference to what happened to his sister.
For the Roy part, I like to think about his Melee appearance as his pre-promoted form (ie Garbage), and Ultimate is post-promoted (which is why his sword is so buff)
Tho I'm not the biggest Fire Emblem fan (yet) with me only playing 2 of the games (If you count FE Warriors that is), can I just say, thank you for making a Smash Bros video about Fire Emblem characters WITHOUT talking about how there's so many of them in Smash Bros. As much as i agree that there are a bunch of them I'm just tired of seeing a bunch of videos stating that and this video is just a breath of fresh air!
RPG's are a big deal in Japan so they'll add as many as they can in Smash.
SEGA: Sakurai you can put Sonic The Hedgehog in Smash.
Sakurai: Sweet, time for BALL...
SEGA: You do know he has other moves...
Sakurai: BALL and Super Sonic.
SEGA: But...
Sakurai: Hey! Whos the game expert here?!?!
Ike's side special, Quick Draw, was actually based on his crit animation as a Ranger in Path of Radiance. That wasn't mentioned in the video, but is a nice fun fact. I wish he had Ragnell sword beams in Smash, that would be great to give him a ranged option.
Cool vid man, you just gained yourself a sub!
Here's my theory on why Roy in Smash is so different from Roy in FE6:
He's Roy post-FE6, with Ninian as his mom.
For one, he has the Binding Blade, the absolute most broken sword in all of FE bar the Ragnell.
Two, he's a LOT more confident and in your face than he was in FE6.
My theory is that this is his dragon half coming through, making him more willing to charge in and shred your face.
That Certainly Plausible, Bro!...Good Job!!
The most broken sword as in, it is probably broken by that point lol...
Have you ever heard of FE1 Falchion or FE4 holy weapons? Or even FE10 Alondite which is just a better Ragnell (not character locked).
Being part dragon doesn't make you more confident, Ninian and Sophia are not really confident and they are half dragon. And Ninian is not always Roy's mother since in FE7 Eliwood can marry Lyn or Fiora and all is paired ending state that he has a son nammed Roy.
You can't tell me Corrin wasn't specifically created by Intelligent Systems to be a Smash character first and Fire Emblem character second.
This channel is so underrated
This is the kind of video I’ve always wanted to see so massive thumbs up man!
Hope we could get Ephraim in smash one day it’s a dream
Or Hector but yeah, Epraim would be faster and have more range
@@halcyon_echo42 if ephraim made it in, maybe tailor his moveset to be better against lightweights, but countered by heavyweights. would reflect lances beating swords, but losing to axes
@@Underworlder5 That would be cool to see, like he would get extra knockback against the 4 FE swords but have that taken away against Ganon etc.
Nice video! Great information for someone who knows bugger all about Fire Emblem like myself. I'll take Sakurai's interpretation of Roy over what the official character sounds like, haha
That's fair, Fire Emblem seems to agree as they made Roy more powerful and take more design cues from his Smash look.
Loved this video! Just subscribed and wish you a merry christmas 💖

Next video: How smash fans portray the fire emblem characters in Smash Bros
Answer:
Marth=Marth
Lucina=Girl Marth
Roy=Red Marth
Chrom=Daddy Marth
Ike=Buff Marth
Robin=Wizard Marth
Corrin=Dragon Marth
Byleth=Professor Marth
The fun little thing about Byleth's victory is that it mirrors that of the game over screen in Three Houses
Road Taken, a song that should have been in Smash
Edit: Hate Fates or not you can't deny we should have gotten more Fates music
That's R.I.P. Justice
Also end of all, the part that was added in the new Lost in thoughts remix doesn't fit at the point it was added in the song, it feels tagged onto the end :/. I'm all for more Lost in thoughts remixes because they're great but more fates music would be nice too
HOW DOES THIS MAN NOT HAVE AT LEAST 10K SUBS WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE
I like to think Marth's sword being stronger at the tip while Roy's is stronger at the hilt is representative of the different speeds Fire Emblem players go in maps.
Marth represents players who turtle, who bait enemy units to the edge of their attack range, to the tip you might say.
Roy represents players who like to send strong units into the fray, relishing in demolishing weak enemy units up close.
Awesome video man! As a fan of both games I love how accurate is everything that you explained
I've never been a fan of Roy in ultimate. FE Roy is one of my favourite lords, and in smash I don't feel like I'm playing as him. I like his playstyle, but his personality and design is just so different.
If I may, why do you like a sniveling child that can't hold his own with chapter 1 brigands?
@@midnalight6419 He has good supports that show how he's a nervous wreck who is in way over his head and is way too young to lead an army. It makes it all the more triumphant when he gets his confidence and and takes down zephiel. I really hope they remake binding blade and let his character can shine more.
The Sacae route really made me hate Roy, sorry
@@ketsuban_jpg I'm sorry you went sacae. Use the early game flier next time and then falco knight shanna wrecks all of the western isle
@@midnalight6419 It was my first time playing FE6 and boy did I suffer. I had a couple game overs but the eventually the paladins and Rutger got me through
Very nice video and Merry Christmas to you!
Marth, Roy, Lucina and Chrom being as similar as what they are is why people have a problem with FE characters in Smash. When over half of them look and play that similar it really looks like having several of the same character
I feel like that logic is kind of a double edged sword (pun intended) though, because since they're so similar it also means they took almost no development and thus don't take up a slot, Roy, Lucina, and Chrom are essentially "bonuses". But I can get what you mean.
@@JacobPDeIiNoNi I mean lucina and chrome are echoes so they feel harmless too me
@@JacobPDeIiNoNi but so many other characters could’ve gotten echoes that it just sort of rubs salt in the wound that is how poorly echo fighters were handled
@@Edgeperor I wouldn't even describe echo fighters as poorly handled, just that they shouldn't have been handled... at all. Either make them a unique character if they have the potential or make them an alt if they don't, echoes are in a weird in-between zone that doesn't make much sense. I think the idea, more than the execution is what is flawed. But I still wouldn't personally consider them as separate characters. (That's just me though)
I just wanna say your music choices for this video are excellent
Quick Draw actually comes from Ike's Critical Hit animation from Path of Radiance. Also Dancing Blade and its variants derive from the SNES-era interpretation of the Astra skill.
Don't forget Jugdralian Lord crit animations!
A few Voice Actor trivia things about some of these characters:
Roy shares a VA (Ray Chase) with Bruno Bucciarati (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wing - English Dub)
Chrom shares a VA (Matthew Mercer) with the following:
I don’t know his name but it’s a Persona 5 character who has Chrom as a fighter in his spirit battle and wields a sword.
Jotaro Kujo (JJBA, Multiple parts being 3-6)
And Jessie McCree (Overwatch)
Edit: Fixed type in McCree and added VA names
Yusuke.

I always found Marth's tipper mechanic to be a reference to his weapon of choice, the raiper. Raipers in real life aren't great if you cut with the edge, but they're probably the best type of sword when it comes to stabbing with the tip. And when you land that hit, it does superb damage, just like Marth's raiper when used on armoured or mounted foes.
