Artissssteh!
Dodford is one of a kind. Brilliant storyteller even when he is not saying a word
its like prince with the guitar. he doesnt have to sing but he can sing with the tool lol
I remember when dodford made me hard stop my tiktok swipe session because of his style. I ran in to his profile and didn’t understand how little followers he had at the time. Became an instant fan and always enjoy his art. And now he’s on my fave podcast! Loved this, so much value. ✨
Didnt your account get hacked years ago
people like dodford give me extreme imposter syndrome
I had Full blown chills with the rain drew barrymore segment can’t wait to watch his channel thanks for doing this interview amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Listening to Dodford's thought process was so fascinating! Thank you so much for having him on. Always learn so much from these conversations.
He is articulate.
i cant get over this vid. dod is incredible but also the editing in this vid from the way his docs are presented all the way to the reaction shots is so clutch. thank you. its a masterclass in presentation
A lot of what Dodford did with the montages are simply brilliant. Movie montages are some of my favourite genres on youtube and he explained it perfectly.
Also have to admit. Sound design is on an other level as well. Awesome editing!!
Discovered Dodford on TikTok ages ago and the video immediately stopped the scroll. Even those videos felt “premium” - I loved that original style as well. He’s just brilliant!
Such an inspiration! James Jani, would be an amazing guest here.
What a legend 👊😎 love that Dodford even now is looking forward to future generations and what they will be able to create 👏
It's funny when there is Riverside ad and then there it is Jordan chilling in corner in 240p xd
Guys this is a fantastic channel for a budding editor, cheers so much for putting these interviews together.
LOVE the call to action at the end. I was literally so excited to implement all the valuable knowledge I obtained throughout the video and you just kick me in the ass🤣
This is so good. So much editing advice takes feature films as its default. It's great to see a discussion of this kind of content editing. I learned a lot both as a viewer and an amateur editor.
Thank you Danny and team editing podcast!
so dope to show the riverside interface as a way to show the three of you communicating. great for the viewer and the sponsor lol. glad i found this channel
Really resonated with this episode! Thanks to you both for dedicating a part of your professional careers as editors to creating more conversations around the topic. It makes it more accessibly for the rest of us noobs ❤
Getting an insight into these guys mind's is extremely valuable, thank you for this podcast.
fun fact, after seeing riverside being used multiple times on the pod, i used it for recording with my group channel, and everything was flawless
Ooof what a great chat! Really cool to see how y’all can breakdown dodfords work with an eye of detail in appreciation. Loved this 🔥
Great interview, one of the best guests, a new age in documentaries
Thanks to algorithms for recommending such a cool and inspiring channel. And thank you for your podcast!
Literally just watched his Jim Carry video and have been hooked ever since
It feels like Dodford has a similar creative approach to how Australian DJ duo the Avalanches made their first album 🙌👏🙌🔥
This dude is a bad ass 🦾 his edits are all fire 🔥 so glad u guys had him on the show, this was a great interview fs💯💯🙏🙏
Genuinely two of the greatest channels on the platform, both Dodford and The Editing Podcast are masterclasses for creatives.
Have to wonder though, does their channel have issues with reused content or copyright without original voiceover/on camera footage?
excellent talent. I have the same question. how is Dodford´s able to use all that footage without copyrigh issues @HillierSmith ?
Love this!!! Found my new channel to binge on 😁
This was fascinating. Thank you for the great interview!
Weird question, but do you guys have a reading list - books about storytelling, editing, cinematography, etc.?
Man, this was really helpful!
you guys should bring james jani on the podcast
We are!
omg so exciteeed! when is it expected to release? also please ask him on also the planning and research for the video and how he crafts the story from the subject he is looking at. thanks!@@EditingPodcast
Bookends man! Thanks for reminding me of this technique and yes I will go edit now.
The next episode still got room to improve 👍
✅️ How does he legally source all that proprietary star-driven footage? Asking for me 🙏
i think any footage is legal to use if you use it under 6 seconds? there was some rule :D
Think I gotta go rewatch his videos now
Hayden roasted my video once and suggested I spend more time studying Dodford. I see why!
Fantastic interview
Dodford is your favorite editor’s favorite editor.
didn't know who this was but thank you for introducing him to me
Really good video , help me a lot ! ❤
Just Finished Editing Something LOL very insightful
Wow!!!! That edited drew barrymore scene with the rain!!!!!!
Riverside is Awesome lets go!!!!!
I was waiting for them to get Daniel on here. Great episode
dont call him daniel as if it was your friend
The Edit Podcast, I think you should do an episode with the editors from HBOs Westworld and go through narrative and the non linear storytelling and the choices decisions as to why it was cut like that. Not a hot topic but interesting, similar to your The Bear Video.
I have an important question about dodfords editing style. How is he able to manage taking clips from other RUclips channels and movies and be able to still monetize. As RUclips is really strict with thier copyright claims on music and video clips usage.
I hope someone can answer this with accuracy. Thank you.
I have no idea lol same question here, i see no courtesy , no credits on footages of in video description
Fingers crossed!
Wow. Bravo 💐💐💐
Damn I wanna get on this podcast jus found your channel this is dope my typa conversation 😂
Incredible.
my biggest inspiration.
Damn, that Drew Barrymore ending was CRAZY
dope!
Riverside is Awesome
Amazing
The Drew Barrymore vid he did was a masterpiece
You should have a talk with Patrick Gavia about editing too
Personally, I love Dodford’s narration.
Hi guys! I have suggestion to have podcast with James Jani, his RUclips channel name is same, but editing videos, storytelling are also cool! Hope you mention that
One question, what about the video's used in the Edit, don't those get copyright claims or other?? Like clips from Tv shows, Movies, social media? we can use them just like that?
NOTIF GANGGGGGGGGGGGGG
28:00 using mid journey like an artist
let's goooo
Great episode. Do you know how and where Dodford's research team locates and acquires the source material used in his videos? I'm assuming it's like any other documentary researcher, who spend weeks/months searching all over the web and downloads the clips with or without permission using legal and semi-legal website download browser extensions?
I think you left out sound design and music.. please consider this in every interview, its so important
This may be a dumb question but are the clips and music in Dodfords videos being licensed or are they allowed under fair use? And also are his videos being giving permissions by the subject or does that not matter?
When it comes to documentaries, Patrick Gavia is the best.
please do james jani🙏
name of the song at the start of the video ?
1:05 the first one in the bottom is my friend's thumbnail. I am gonna tell him.😂
This guy must be very good. The GOD of RUclips editing has no objections or roasting and is even envious of you? Please are you taking interns? I'd sell everything I have and come learn for just 2 hours and pay you everything I've got...
That's if I've got anything
i cant blame him for ignoring jack and jill ahahahahaha
not 1st
Im a bedroom filmmaker
is it really called "writing a hook" if its just peicing together two clips of someone else talking?
29:56 copying his method, huh?
Adam Sandler's serious roles are 400 times better than any comedy he's ever done or ever could do. His comedy is nothing compared to his serious acting.
I'm dying to know how much you chatge for a video like this?
This is not clever. He simply has a ton of footage to use when you talk about actors in lots of movies and television and the news. It's an age-old technique. Now try it on a subject with very little to no original footage.
Johnny Harris did it first.
the person speaking at 8:00 is Keanu Reeves and not Adam Sandler...did i miss something?
This was really good. Thank you.
Guest Ideas: Lemmino & MagnatesMedia.
Moon, Jake Tran, SunnyV2 would also be incredibly interesting to analyse why their content is exploding.
Similar niches but all have their own unique style.
SunnyV2 > Moon, Jake Tran
I have an important question about dodfords editing style. How is he able to manage taking clips from other RUclips channels and movies and be able to still monetize. As RUclips is really strict with thier copyright claims on music and video clips usage.
I hope someone can answer this with accuracy. Thank you.
Fair use, he studies it. Other creators like James Jani use it a lot also, as do I. Have to study fair use, change the filter, and sometimes sound, it’s easy
nothing gets claimed if its under 6 seconds
thanks@@Derrick_Monk
@@millionenabonenntenohnevideo you mean every clip audio and video? some of dodfords audio is way over 6 seconds.
@aalileghari6195 it depends on the footage- just play around and test it and delete the parts that got the copyright claim
