  • Installing an oil pan is an exciting step in an engine build process.
At this time you're essentially saying "so long" to your rotating assembly for (hopefully) at least 100,000 miles...unless you don't do the oil pan, pickup and windage tray installation properly. As part of our Summit Racing LS engine build, we put together this video to provide some tips to help the oil pan installation process.

Any reason why Black RTV was not used on the corners where the oil pan meets the front and rear timing cover?

Thanks for this video. I have a 7 qt. racing pan with a baffle. My '76 jimmy has a windage tray on 350 SBC. Its mostly a daily driver not used for racing or off road. Would it make ANY difference to oil pressure or basic driving if i remove the windage tray? Thanks in advance!

100,000 miles? You got some very low expectations.
