    Just bought my first bit of Fjallraven kit, in the form of these pants following your review. Worn them a few times now and absolutely love them. Superb pants and everything you say they are. I’m now looking at other kit (think I may have caught the Fjallraven bug) will need to take your advice though and shop around for deals. Anyway cheers Beardy man. And get some more content out. Your work is brilliant. Stay safe

    Just got home from a trip to Svalbard. Picked up these myself and they are a nice pair of trousers. Noticed a lot of people who lived in Longyearbyen are wearing these, or some similar, so fjellräven is doing something right. Just waxed them and they are now feeling even tougher, might be just because the wax is all fresh but still love it. need more reviews from you

    Great! One detail about the "boot-hook", in the 90s when I did my military service, the uniform (m90) trousers had small hook for the same reason, to attach the end to your boots, but when you are in a hurry and you rush on your pants without taking on your socks before, the hook thought it would be nice to grab my big toe nail... not good, no toe nail anymore... I don´t think thats the reason for having the hook turned upwards, but it saves your toe-nails, thats for sure;-)

    I am looking for some sturdier pants from them and I think I found them. I am normally using Kebs, but after some years they sadly started to get stretched out in the crotch and show signs of holes. Now Fjallraven easily sends you some patches, but the fixing will be still a bit hard. Nevertheless, I used these pants so much that it is totally normal that they end up with some wearing and tearing. I think the Vidda could be a bit of a better addition to my kit since they seem to have more G1000 material. Thanks so much for the review :)

    I first bought Fjallraven after researching decent hiking trousers about 8 years ago. I now must have over 100 of their products. They are SO good. Everything is the best quality and the design is well thought out for in the field use. They have never strayed into gloves (go to Hestra for those) or footwear & socks as they specialise in what they know - tents, jackets,trousers & hats. You can't honestly get better made long lasting gear. Arcteryx for skiing stuff granted ;)

    Great review, but you are a little off about the pockets. On the old vidda pro, the pockets could expand while they are more "flat" or thight on the ventilated ones. Also the big right pocket is smaller and moved more to the front of the leg compared to the original. Both has its pros and cons:)

    Im wearing mine right now, I do enjoy these and the kebs. They are a bit pricey but I do love wearing them, if you cant justify spending that much the truspec xpedition pants would be my next choice as they are half the price(i own and wear both) each has its own advantages. I also like to wax mine and found that having the wax hot/soft 50/50 bees/parafin makes it so much easier and faster without wearing the fabric then turn them inside out and toss in the dryer for a couple minutes and re apply as needed. I would say for my use I prefer no mesh on any vents it just allows so much better air flow!

    I got 2 pair in black... I like them for the same reasons you do, however I am preferring my Barents Pro at the moment, mainly I think because the double seat seems to add that extra bit of warmth and am I really going to need the vents in these during winter? Not really. So I can see me wearing these more when we start to come out of winter, through spring, maybe now and again in summer and then through autumn.
    I also just got a Koster sweater, am just not sure about the wool, I prefer Merino (a merino mix for more strength since merino on its own wears out too quickly) on my upper body since it doesn't itch as much on bear skin.... how are you finding the koster beardy? Do you wear it with just a T-shirt? And what did you think about the sizing of the Koster, did you have to go up a size?
    p.s. I also recently tried the Fjallraven Polar Fleece Jacket.... which is very expensive for around £250, however, even though I got it for £185 I had to send it back because for me its just too bulky to get a shell over the top, and I reckon the UK has more of a wet climate than a cold one, so not being comfortable with a shell over the top is no good.... don't get me wrong though, its a top class fleece, really warm, but ideal for a cold dry climate rather than a wet one.
    p.p.s I just got a Fjallraven Greenland Winter Parka... and its awesome!! Get one and review it if you can while its still winter :-)
    And I am currently waiting for the waterproof version to be delivered.... the Greenland Eco Shell Jacket.... I did think about the Keb Eco Shell Jacket rather than this, because its a bit easier to pack, but, and this is a big but... I never forget the times I got wet wearing a short waterproof jacket so I realise I always prefer the longer waterproof jackets.... anyway ill update when I get it and have tested it.
    Currently using a Hilltrek Cotton Analogy Ventile jacket during winter.

      Hi and thank you for your comments. I would agree that the Vidda Pros agree not ideal in really cold weather but i have worn my in the snow with a pair of merino long John's on and they were fine. I do however have a pair of fjallraven Artkis winter trousers and they agree awesone.
      I have the extra large Koster jumper and am actually wearing it today. Only ever wear a teeshirt or thin base layer under it. Never itches but maybe thats just me. I like it because it's big and bulky and feels cosy.
      I love my keb eco shell and haven't had a problem with a wet backside and like you say it's great to pack in a day sack
      Ive looked at the polar fleece but haven't purchased for the reasons you've mentioned.
      Got a review coming soon on the keb padded hoddie which is brilliant

    • @thegameoflife9179
      @thegameoflife9179 4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately having received and tried the Greenland Eco Shell Jacket, its going to have to go back for a refund.... when I bend my arms its too tight at the elbows and when I reach down or up its too tight underneath the arms, I cant understand it, its a size Medium and I'm 5.10 with a 39-40 inch chest, 33 inch waist so it should fit with room to spare...nearly every other manufacturer I am size Medium no problem, in fact in Hilltrek I ordered a size Small with an extra inch on the arm length and even that has more room in than this Eco Shell jacket... Fjallraven need to think a bit more about arm movement and add some articulation like most other makes do, its a shame because its a lovely looking jacket... and no I will not go to a size Large because without a waist drawcord it will be way too big around the waist etc.
      And even though I got a discount it still cost me £375 so was not cheap by any means

    • @beardymanreviews3312
      @beardymanreviews3312  4 года назад

      Not sure if the weight is that much different. I think the Vuddas would be heavier as the kebs have more of the elastane type material. Thats the reason i like my Viddas for bushcraft as i always worry sparks or vembers will set that material alight, plus it can get snagged on twigs, thorns etc if your sitting on the ground. But when im out on a decent hike, having that stretchy material is far less restrictive and allows for decent flexibility. 👍🏻

      This is a tricky one to answer as boots can be quite a personal choice. I've always worn either Lowa Renegades for the summer and Meindl Butans during the winter. Both fit great and are super comfortable right out of the box. You really have to try them on though as i boughr a pair of Meindl Borneos are they didnt fir me right and I had to return them. Ask yourself what you need the boot to do? When are you using them? Do you need waterproofing? Go into a good shop, try different pairs on. If you do buy a pair wear them around the house for a few hours (not outside as you won't be able to take them back). Hope that helped. Good luck

      And regular length. I find the trousers are a little generous in the waist but not too much!

    The law in Sweden is almost identical to the law in the UK regarding a knife. You cant carry one around in your pocket.

    • @eliasragnarsson24
      @eliasragnarsson24 2 года назад

      Not entirely true, you can wear a knife in public places if its called for i.e hunters, mushroom pickers bushcrafters carpenters etc. Wouldnt wear it in town tho as it feels like a gray area for bushcrafting atleast☺️

    These look better than my KEBS on a woman. But KEBS fit slimmer.

    You can't walk around with a pocket knife in the UK? Is that real?

    • @beardymanreviews3312
      @beardymanreviews3312  Год назад

      depends on where you are. if your in the woods it would be ok but if you took the same knife into the town where there were more people you'd probably get into trouble.

      @@danceswithbadgers do you experience crotch blowouts in other pants? Wondering if the original Vidda Pro would be better in this area than the ventilated

    • @danceswithbadgers
      @danceswithbadgers Год назад +1

      @@jmax850 Hi. No, softshell is fine. I have a pair of Keb Touring trousers, which are structurally softshell with cosmetic overlays of G-1000. The G-1000 is going in places but the softshell is fine. I have other trousers which are entirely sofshell and all are OK. I've experienced wear at the seams around the crotch and seat area of several different Fjällraven trousers, some of which is the folded seam wearing through the material from the inside - so the seams are wearing themselves out! This wear is just from walking in them and is not the result of abrasion against rock etc.
