    Hi Ted! Great video as always! I’m happy they are not low on the hip.
    Sadly I did like the side pocket on the old pair rather than the new being pushed more toward the quad to accommodate the ventilation...but I like the ventilation too!
    So happy that put stretch material in the pants! Always a bonus!
    My biggest complaint about Fjallraven right now is it seems they stopped with “dark olive” colour. It’s gone on the Keb pants, gone on the Keb Eco shell, etc. I really wish they’d bring that colour back.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  4 года назад +2

      Thanks brother!
      Totally agree on the dark olive part, there’s just something with that color, fits perfectly in nature!

    Hi Ted. Yet another great video 👍👍
    You forgot a small detail with the pants. It’s very easy to oversee if you don’t know it’s there. But in the top of the pants, where you normaly would clip on a pair of suspenders Fjällräven have put something inside the fabric so the clips won’t slip off 😉
    A small but briliant feature.
    A have a pair of Vidda Pro ventilated myself, and i love them big time 😉
    All the best from hinsidan Öresund

    Nice review. I've a couple of pairs of the older Vidda Pros that i use for work and I like these upgrades. A little thing, but I like that they've reversed the boot lace hook, it was pretty painful if you put the old ones on quickly and it caught a toe nail, ouch! Looking forward to the Vidda jacket review.Cheers.

    Vidda has been my first choice for about 16 years now. My work (and hobbies) puts me in the woods and this pant I can relay on all season around. Not to hot, not to cold, dries fast Holds up against prickly bushes and sharp rocks. The only negative so far is the leg/foot strap that consist of an elastic band w snap buttom. The elastic band has dried ut on my pants so they cannot be tightend anymore. I have had my latest pants in 5 years now, perhaps the material in the band has been uppgraded in todays manufacture.

    Nice review as always 👍 but I have a couple off questions about mosquitoes? I’ve heard that the Keb is to thin and the mosquitoes can get to you by the thin material. And the Vidda Pro is really too hot! It would be better if it was some mesh in the vents! But my dream trousers would have been the new Vidda Pro with zip-off in the G1000 Lite material with mesh in the vents! Absolutely love my Skogsö jacket and the Ruaha shorts in the Lite material! The Barents Pro shorts again is a little too hot in the summertime. Make them make my dream trousers for hiking,fishing and camping trips🙏😂🙏

    Haj Ted. Good review. Couple of questions mate. You mention they have a stretch material now so how different are they to the keb? Also one of the things i really like on the keb is the zip pocket as im always losing change from my Vidda Pros. Does this update have a zip pocket on the right leg? Cheers mate

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  4 года назад +2

      Thanks! No zip pocket, only the really deep one, I think it’s a good thing to have at least one security pocket.
      I’d say the pockets in general are the big difference here, these are made for bushcraft whereas the Keb are made for movement! Thanks for watching!

    Ted, thanks for another great video. I have a few comments/questions. 1. On the Keb trousers each of the thigh pockets has two poppers whereas these only have one in the centre. The Keb ones feel more secure, any thoughts?. 2. With the increase in size of most mobile phones now the device mesh pocket in the thigh pocket should be larger both in depth and width. Personally I like that with my current phone I can folder the top of the mesh over each top corner. 3 the vents are a great addition, would also like them lower down also. 4 is the groin area in these made of the same thin material on the Keb trousers? 5 are there any difference between these and newer Keb trousers which stand out? Thank you.

    • @TedWeirum
      @TedWeirum  4 года назад +1

      Thanks!
      The poppers are stong, but one zippered pocket wouldn’t hurt if you ask me, since you got the one really deep pocket I still think you’d be fine, it’s highly unlikely that something would fall out from that one, unless you sleep like a bat in really heavy winds.. ;)
      The mesh pocket I think is first and foremost made for a compass or gps, with that said I agree with you, we all use our phones for the same task nowadays.
      The Keb pants are made for flexibility and movement, going up and down mountains for example. Vidda pro is made for bushcraft, camping and building things, hence all the tool pockets that’s the biggest difference I can find! Thanks for watching!

    Hey Ted,
    Great review, thanks!
    I'm definately going to buy a pair of Vidda Pro Ventilated but I have one quick question, if you wouldn't mind answering please.
    On the original Vidda Pro's, the left leg had that cool ace pocket that opened up at the bottom too to accommodate the axe. It looks like that has now been removed to accommodate the ventilation part, is this true?
    I thought that axe pocket on the Vidda Pros was one of the best features and so I would really hope it's on the Vidda Pro Ventilations too. I think it's been replaced by the ace loop at the top hanging off of the belt loops, if this is the case then wouldn't the axe swing around as you walked?
    Kind regards and keep up the good work my man!

Or maybe even Barents since I'm too fat and maybe can't get Vidda that fit waist without being too long, which are the same but raw lenght. Hope they will make a ventilated version there as well. A friend of mine was disappointed with Keb since the stretch can't resist fire sparks. One small pop from the campfire burnt a hole right through quickly.

    Ted, I bought a pair of these trousers and I am wearing them. Okay they went with the tall leg length instead of the regular but these trousers are flawed because the button pockets are too long and there is no way to fix them. My cell phone comes into contact with my knee. In no other Fjallraven trousers does this happen. These pockets are practically useless. Total design flaw. The knee is too low. Anyway I just won't use those pockets, but that is messed up. No, these trousers are made wrong and it might be because of the knife pocket that they screwed us.

    • @HPCthulhu2011
      @HPCthulhu2011 4 года назад +1

      Actually it is lucky for me that I never use the pockets anyway except for the cell phone, so that is the only actual penalty, probably. I use the hand pockets to ocassionally put my hands into or else keys. Those are okay and the knife pocket is okay. The rest is only for show but not practical use. The rest is crap I mean.

      @@TedWeirum It was my ring. I used to buy from Quebec and than they opened a shop in Calgary but the British were running it and that year I updated my ring which is not a story that you know so when I saw the people there at Fjallraven that are used to attack people this here was just another problem because yes the pocket is bad on this trousers. I didn't want my cell phone bouncing on my knee whereas with the Keb trousers (Keb gaiter trousers) the pockets were done correctly, but anyway I can wear this trousers without a cell phone and these pants can also be used for working outside. I just did not buy this style anymore, I went to the keb gaiter and I actually tried a few other Fjallraven styles but ultimately that year I went over to Arcteryx and things were good again but I didn't go for my final clothing haul to Fjallraven but I couldn't do it. I had the money, plenty of that. This year I am not wearing my ring the same way as that year. I actually could not wear Fjallraven at all last year. This year it is not hurting me so I am wearing it but Amazon Prime became an option because they deliver directly to the house. Anway yes these trousers or any of their G-1000 can be shrunk down one half of a size. I did shrink these ones down and they were better. The keb can be shrunk too but the soft shell does not shrink at all, only the G-1000 parts shrink (one half of a size down).

    Somehow nobody mentions that pockets on the ventilated model are pretty useless. If you stick anything thicker than a mobile phone in any of the pockets, your movement will be severely restricted. The knife pocket is narrow. It is actually too narrow for most knives. You can fit like couple of models of Morakniv or smaller Fallkniven (like F1) with plastic sheath, but it's just about it. Don't get me wrong, material is nice, quality of the pants is superb, but these pants (at least the ventilated model) is for hikers only, not for bushcrafters.
