Very interesting point of view coming from you people literally living outdoors for work and leisure. The live testing conditions put on the pants appeal both to the trekking and bushcraft audience I guess. The argument of the cost per year is sound. I own a Singi 48 backpack, also made of G1000, and concur with the wear and tear part. Thanks much for this video.
Perfect timing, hopefully they still have a CyberMonday sale on. If not, my plan is to get a pair of outdoor trousers this spring and this is great advice. Thank you.
I opened amazon Canadian site and I found that Keb is 560 CAD. That's crazy!!! I feel sorry for you all! In Norway they are 360 CAD as highest price in Fjällräven official shop. And I bought one in online shop at 44% off, I got Keb curved for 190 CAD. You need to get friends in Scandinavia to get shipped to Canada. 😃
I can't say enough how much I enjoy your video's. They are always informative and well made. Can you put a link for those pants. I can see what good quality they are and also the value they offer. Thanks. Looking forward to your next video.
Hope you guys are doing well. Quality always cost more but is usually worth it. Lesson I have learned over the years. Stay well and warm. They should use you in a commercial.
Keb Agile Winters are so much better than standard Kebs for cold weather persuits. They are also the redesigned "improved fit", which new Kebs in store in Feb 2024 also have. I'm selling my pairs of Kebs to step into the Improved fit versions, because the improved fit of the Keb Agile Winters is that good. Everyone tries Vidda Pros first because of stickershock, but it's worth it to spend nearly double to get into the Keb line. Keb Agiles are also really great, both normal and Winter editions.
I believe I looked these up once and they didn't come in my size which is why I only wear 5.11 pro lite tac pants. Since they have sizes that fit me. Thanks for the video
The only pants that have come close to competing with my Kebs are my Decathlon "SH 500 WARM" pants. Different construction, and fleece lined (I live in Canada) and they're my go-to winter work pants. 3 years on 2 pairs, and not one knick. Just wish they had back pockets 😂 Should note, they're only $55 CDN. So, they're also a great value.
I use this trouser on my hike in mountians from Austria i felt there on ground between sharp rocks and nothing happend, just only small scrats on my trouser, if i done that on normal trouser i had other problem
My girlfriend is nearly exactly your build and she is 5'3"... I will not be rude and ask your height, but rather what size pant you have so that I can order her a pair and hopefully have them either fit or be close... And which pants are those? Thank you!
I'm 5'2 and change so sounds like we'd be close! Mine are the 36EU sizing... not sure what that is in US sizes... their sizing is strange and also worth noting is mine are the "curved" version :) Hope this helps!
I bought a pair, after less than 40 days mountain wear both bottom seams have holes in them. In my opinion tje bottom of the trousers are too heavy for the normal material, not worn crampons with them or done anything apart from normal Trekking. I am in my 50s and have never had a pair of trousers fail so quickly. Sent away 18th December still waiting for any reply from Fjall Raven a month later. So far poor quality for what they are and the price charged.
I would assume that like everything you maybe just got an unlucky pair. Because I am part of a huge community of outdoor adventurers that ALL swear by fjallraven, and absolutely non of them are paid to do so. I know it's discouraging when flukes happen but I would give up on them yet
I'm a 72 years old dedicated trail trekker who lives in his fjallraven keb trousers, base layers, jackets and hoodies, You are absolutely right they are great, and I wear them all the time. The gear is 100 % worth the money and do the job extremely well.
I did mention it in one of your last videos, but as you made a separate video on just the pants I might as well throw my 2 cents in here as well. I really agree that people need to focus on price per year, because quality gear is possible to acquire. The first time I tried these pants in a store I felt right away that this is quality, and that they have really thought about what materials should go where, and what kind of seams, buttons, zippers etc. When you get to know the pants these details really do matter, and my favorite is actually the liner of the main upper front pockets, because they just feel good and is also a place you know will last longer than cheaper stuff. Personally I bought 3 of these pants in one go, because I knew I was going to use them, and I have as well. Last winter I also acquired their Singi gaiters that I needed for snowshoeing and stuff like that, and I also just wear the Keb pants + the gaiters in lots of snow, because when you're being active you want something that breaths as well as having a material that doesn't make lots of noise. I did see a test of their previous version of gaiters that some guy said did not breathe at all, though the new type(that I have) have no issues with that that I've noticed, and I've been using them for 6 hours snowshoing in heavy snow and lots of uphill as well, so if it can handle that with no moisture issues, then that's a thumbs up from me because snowshoeing can be really physically demanding. Final note is that I'd rather have few but great things, than lots of crap. Just care more about your purchases, and get things you will actually use so you won't just buy stuff just to buy it.
Great honest review Careena. As you say they’re not cheap trousers but you can pay just as much for an inferior brand. The last 5 years you’ve worn them, you’ve done a ton of outdoor activities. Worked your butt off building the house and also working with Brandon on Timbermates. If that’s not proof how durable they are, then nothing will👍
*_Hello Careena... you look so good wearing the famous brand Fjallraven pants, it's the best brand, you look even cooler and prettier, a little tomboy... greetings from Indonesia_* 💯👌👍👍👍
I don’t have a Keb yet but I keep having more and more Fjällräven clothes as they outlast all other clothes. I used them for farm work and hiking and car repairs and they last forever. The only reason I have to buy new is because my size changes. Unfortunately
Nice review! You talked about winter, but what about hot/humid summer when your are hard working? Are the Keb too hot during this time, even with the ventilation zips open? And also what about mosquitoes? I'm sure the reinforced G1000 parts are fine, but any problem with the strechy material with those bugs?
I have to say,no-one rocks a pair of ravens like you do. Maybe women's are just more flattering to their shape than the mens are to theirs ? Way too lumpen in comparison. Less snug and much too...billowy. I love Revolution Race gear personally from Sweden. Great for walking... but the Ravens look much more robust for bushcrafting affairs i would venture.
Hi Careena, This is SO helpful, thank you! I have been a bit on fence about these and coveting a pair but wanted to hear more. Christmas is coming right?! Much appreciated honest review. Hope you all are well 💜 Barret
The center button hole in the waist is tearing after a few times of usage in urban conditions. Same thing for my friend (she has more mileage on the trousers though). Anyways very disappointed on the durability. They should have extra padding around the center waiste button hole😢
I have similar trousers from a 2 times cheaper brand and those have no noticable wear or tear after 2-3 years of usage in hard-conditions (fixing cars on asphalt and camping).
You mean if I buy those, I'll go from be a fat bass-turd, to having a girlish figure.. I'm in, Ohhhh wait, I'm sorry, I miss gendered those pants, I forgot to ask about the pronouns.. But hey, they/their are nice pants.. I need Bacon, I'm so confused.😊
Do you know anyone who's had a warranty claim? The way it reads, expected wear-and-tear and "damages caused by the user" aren't covered. So what *would* be covered? A zipper failing or a seam coming apart? Your pants have lasted 5 years, which is impressive and may make them worth the price, as you explained. And if Fjallraven is good about the warranty, that would even more insurance and would be enough for me to buy them (assuming they fit well, when I try them out in the store). But I'm worried the warranty may not be worth anything in practice.
got the vidda pro and I like them except they don't breathe well (I know they now make a version with air vents/zippers - vidda pro lite). I was sitting by a camp fire (Charleston lake Ontario) and my buddy had just purchased a pair of nike 'hiking' pants, one little ember flew off and landed on his pants, making an instant hole while I'm sitting across with 0 damage :)
Always love your input on the equipment you use. Last 5 times longer than alot of the others. Yep!!! So much cheaper!!! 👍🏻👍🏻 And, sorry but not sorry to others, you do look great in them. 😝😝😎😎😎
The one thing that causes me to replace new pants from my adventures, is burn holes! Sparks from the campfire inevitably cause wear and tear on my clothes, more than anything else! Lol!
Only the second time I've heard of this brand. Seems like great stuff. Rite along the line of Filson clothing. They have like a $1000 jacket but I have a buddy that has a Filson hunting like upland game bird jacket from the 60s and it looks great for being like 6 years old. Will definitely look into some of these pants in the near future. Thank u for the review.
only thing that holds me back is the lack of rear pockets. A pair of flap closed pockets to me is essential in outdoor pants. Do they make anything like that?
Nice review, I appreciate you sharing your experience with these pants. Even though with most everything I buy I have purchased items that will last a lifetime I did not follow that with clothes. For years I put off getting a pair of real good quality saw pants and boots. I mostly wore chaps and made in china hiking or logging boots. Several years ago I purchased a pair of Canadian made saw pants and a pair of made in USA steel toe logging boots. They are both still wearing great and I cut timber daily in them. Like you said definitely worth the money, I don't even think about the cost and would never go back to what I wore before. I have since been upgrading the rest of my clothes. When purchasing quality higher priced items doing your research and considering the items cost/value out over several years compared to months like cheap crappy stuff makes sense. Plus you look, perform, and just plain feel better wearing them which adds ever more to their value.
I prefer to layer. I don't use any one coat in particular. I have a cheap $45 down jacket that I use with a base layer (wool), then mid layer (wool or fleece) then the down coat, and if it's really wet out I'll put a rain shell over everything. I promise you this layering system will keep you warmer and dryer than any one particular winter coat will.
I was watching your video and my wife looks over my shoulder and says...Why are you looking at another woman? She's out of your league. I laughed so hard and said, She's married and I'm just checking out her pants. That didn't help! 😢 Finally, she says, do you think I would look good in them when we go camping? My wife looks a lot like you, so I smiled and said Oh yea baby. Again, she gave me a look and went into our kitchen. I walked in and there she was on Google looking up the pants! We both broke out laughing and she gave me permission to complement you on how good they look on you. But that's it. lmao
My husband and I just broke out laughing so hard reading this comment, totally made our night!! HAHA Guaranteed your wife is gonna be a smoke show in these pants :P Thanks for the laugh!
Quick question - Do you feel the sizing is true? I'm interested, but would like your opinion on sizing. Thank you for a great video. Always look forward to your next.
To be honest I find it hard to answer that question being that the sizing is in EU, not like Im used to. I recommend trying them on in store before buying. They also have a seamstress in-house usually and will hem them as needed for you when you buy in person. Sorry I can't be more helpful on this one.
Added bonus: Their stores have in-house repair service. A rogue spark burned a hole through the G-1000 fabric just below the knee of my Kebs. Took it into the store seeing if they had spare material that I could repair it with, and to my delight within a week they had sewed a patch on for me.
Thanks! Gear videos definitely help me a lot when I'm looking into dropping some $$ on something I think I need, so hopefully stuff like this helps others too! :)
Hi Careena.... Are they expensive?Yes,...overpriced,absolutely!!!Are the good?Yes,but there are many better brands in this quality and for much better money.I know what I'm sayin'.They look good, sorry:They fits you perfectly well! ...but maybe it's you who look well in any occasion.😊 but anyway...I'm doing mountainering over 30 years,so i know if something is worth of that. What really makes me sad!,that brand companies asking so much money for some stuff, and i know immediately that it is overpriced.similar as Bushcraft of Portugal(sure you know what i mean😊). You really looks amazing in theese, that's true,sincerely!...but the brands is overpriced, that's why i'll never buy it,cause it don't deserve it for that price! And something else in the end:bushcraft should not be about money and expensive brands.Unfortunately it has began...I don't mean you,i mean generally Anyway I'm happy if theese things makes you happy and you like it! Thx for a nice video!...
I really don't think they're overpriced honestly. After paying for building materials on my house that are GARBAGE yet so expensive, I think that the quality and lifetime warranty fjallraven puts into their products are absolutely worth every penny. Coming from someone who HAS to rely on good quality stuff in order to provide for my family and keep me working efficiently on the job.
Dude, really? I'm wearing a $1800 merino wool sweater from Burberry as I'm typing this. Best, most comfortable, and warmest sweater I've ever owned.$200 for pants isn't cheap, but for a quality item that you enjoy and makes you feel comfortable, nah, that's not expensive at all. Get that money up dude lol.

Please tell us what time of year, because I will purchase more. I just ordered my first pair online.

Great as always.
Just got my second pair of vidda pros !
Viddas are awesome too!
You look amazing in these. That's another testament to their fit as I don't usually expect workhorse outdoor gear to fit and look so good.
Hi Careena....
Are they expensive?Yes,...overpriced,absolutely!!!Are the good?Yes,but there are many better brands in this quality and for much better money.I know what I'm sayin'.They look good, sorry:They fits you perfectly well! ...but maybe it's you who look well in any occasion.😊
but anyway...I'm doing mountainering over 30 years,so i know if something is worth of that.
And something else in the end:bushcraft should not be about money and expensive brands.Unfortunately it has began...I don't mean you,i mean generally
Anyway I'm happy if theese things makes you happy and you like it!
@careenaalexis I think there is nothing wrong with the price point.
