Japanese tanks, much like Swedish tanks, are allergic to having armor. The differences is, the Japanese don't know they're un-armored so they built them as big as houses.
from my experience playing 5 nation, swedish tanks are the easiest to grind and the japanese tanks are the hardest because usually you only have 3 tanks at the same br to fight
Entirely wrong. Japanese soil is soft, giving a tank more than the armor then they needed to maneuver around the soft Japanese soil. Would lead to these tanks LITERALLY bogging down(sinking into the dirt) because they were too heavy. This is why If a Tiger I was to come to Japan it would be way too heavy to even drive through Japanese soft soil.
@@sinisterisrandom8537 not to mention that Japan was colonising most of Asia and especially the Pacific which has soft soil too. They weren't targeting the hard soil of the USA or Europe

My appreciation for the Japanese tech tree comes in the form of, as the gamer world says, 'git gud'. Soldiering through this tech tree forced me to learn to outmaneuver, out-think, and learn to make suspension-based shots on the move, as well as needing to rapidly learn the maps themselves, where to hit targets, and how to make as innocuous a target of myself as possible. All these lessons meant that, the first time I used a stock Sherman tank with its stabilizer, generally reliable gun and armor and decent gun, I took home seventeen kills for the loss of one crewman. The short version: If you play Japan, you'll learn to respect the strengths of your opponents, to anticipate being knocked out in a single hit, and generally speaking you will find yourself performing far better when you jump into more superior vehicles in other tech trees with the skills and tactics you learned here. The Japanese tech tree is not beginner friendly, but it's still the place I'd recommend beginners to start, because you'll learn so much more about how to play from them than the Shermans, KV-1s and Tigers that basically hold your hand for you. All with all, fun to play, but sometimes really frustrating and boring.
Korea can either go with Japan or China, but I personally think Japan would be a better idea since China has enough countries under its belt already. I don't even know what Korea has for tanks besides modern armor but it may serve as a good bolster in the higher BRs.
If they do add Korean tanks like the K1A1 or M-2020 I would guess the would put North Korea with China and South Korea with Japan. Either that or just make a whole new tech tree which is probably not a good idea.
This tree is one of my favorites, in no small part due to the 75mm guns on the chi-nu's and chi-to's. Plus the designs are just so different looking to most of the other nations.
Hello, I know that there is little chance that I will be answered but I was wondering: given that the BF 109 Z will soon "celebrate" its 2 years, I was wondering if there was a chance for it to be back in store? (thank you very much if someone answers me 😁)
I love playing the Japanese Tank Tree. Not necessarily underrated but it has taught me how to play more strategically and accurately. Also some of the goofy design are some of the best. Chi-Ha LG is a blast, just watch out for any kind of damage.
I personally love the Jappanese tanks. Especially chi he and chi nu. While the chi he yes is out gunned sometimes especially if being uptiered, its low profile and over all mobility can give it an upper hand in hiding and flanking. Its not that uncommon from my experience to see them do well in battles.
@rn if youre f2p its horrible, unless you have some friends to play with, are an absolute beast or have some good luck with the after battle loot crates
Japanese tanks while not the best at their brs, force you to learn how to play the game. Map positions, enemy armor layouts, when it's safe to move, etc... That being said I love them! The Chi Ri being one of my favorites in the whole game, the autoloader and mobility along with solid firepower allow you to quickly dispatch enemies you've flanked.
I really love all the Japanese low-tier tanks, they're cool and look awesome. Hopefully one day we get the I-Go Otsu and Ka-Mi with floats added to WT.
I play the Japanese tech tree as my main since I'm very interested with the Type 90. At first it was really hard since they are not as strong compared to other nations. However when you get used to and know how to play them, they're really good. Plus since its quite hard to play, it thought me to be more careful, be wise on how I go about the battlefield. I do have to note that the Japanese ground forces do not have a comprehensive line up per match, so you have to arrange and use what you have. All in all its not super good or super bad, a challenging nation to play but when done right it is worthwhile, at least for me. Currently at rank V and grinding for Type 74.
I absolutely love the trees. The air, ground, and naval fit my play style perfectly. My only problem is the the silver lion and research point cost of the type 16. Compared to the 9.0 centuaro, I feel that it is unfairly priced.
the reserve japanese tanks were a real pain to grind through but it was worth it as soon as you get the derp guns like the Ho-Ro you can even hold your grounds in uptiers... not a beginner friendly tech-tree tho
Yeah, Kai means "modified/improved", and is separate to the Kou/Otsu/Hei/etc variant names (those are equivelant to the American A1/A2/A3/etc or the British Mk I/II/III/etc).
Not gonna lie, the Japanese tank tree was the hardest to grind and spade for me, but after getting the first generation of post WW2 tanks, then it starts being quite fun. Japan is not really underrated, they really are the worst tanks and the underdog, but that's kind what makes them shine. If used properly, they can perform well, and they sure are rare in battles, not many people use them. From what I saw, the MBTs are Very strong, so I can't wait to get there, maybe in a few more months I will get all Japanese tanks unlocked and spaded, but fighting against them in top tier is quite scary with their 4 seconds reload. I do recommend playing the Japanese tank tree as well, but not as the first tank tree, maybe the third or forth tank tree...
Yea i think the japanese tanks are kinda underrated, yes they don't have any armor but with some luck and skill u can bounce or use the hilly terrain to hide ur tanks. Btw Chi Ha Kai was my fav

I use a Chinese 1 tank one tank in realistic simulation and I test out the second tank shell and I notice the armor is quite dependent on what angle your firing.
From my experience, it's certainly a very fustrating tech tree to play. Your engine is like lawnmower, your armor is rice paper, and your cannons are a peashooter. Rank I is manageable, but Rank II to IV is utter hell to advance, especially when you have players taking potshots at you 800m+ away with you having no hopes to fire back. Urban maps also provides you no cover to speak of.
Especially when the Ha-Go has 30mm of Max pen while China gets the M8-LAC and its 50 cal with more pen, Sweden gets a lineup of 1.0s with rapid fire APDS, and Russia gets the BT-5 with its speed and greet gun. All share the same BR.

too underrated is the answer. sure its not tough. in my experience most of the time one stops you from moving, especialy in the open it tends to be time to commit seppuku. but when YOU end up striking first it is usually the same result as a katana slicing a cherry blossom. that is a good reason to play it out of the enemy sight until they are engaged with your team mates or don't see you at all. there was this one time i was lucky enough to be in a point with lots of rocks where the enemy could not see me from a distance using the Chi-He if i remember correctly (if not it is one of the same category in Japanese the tech tree.) the result was me see the enemy first an with my cannon closer to them and got kill after kill like this. as a sign note i adore the APHE shells.
I have a problem with grinding in war thunder. Why do we have to purchase previous vehicles that we don't want or won't play to get to the vehicles we want. I been playing war thunder since the beginning of 2017 and the grind is getting worse. I literally waste alot of lions purchasing vehicles I never play with just to get to the ones I want to play with. Can you make it where we don't have to purchase previous vehicles just to get to the vehicles we want. Can we research them, not purchase it and move on to the vehicles I battle and save lions for instead. This would save players time and money.
Chi-Ha Kai and and Chi-He are very good at their battle ratings. Nice mobility, very good gun with short reload, and Chi-He has 50mm front armor that give you much needed survivability.
Certainly feel like that explains a lot, since I always feel a step behind on my enemies and always feel like I have to outhink my opponents over a straight front engagement. Though I'm more impressed that the ones I've been leaning towards as saying "This tank is good" are also tanks the Japanese military were feeling like they were on the right track with, so historical accuracy with unit capabilities, that's a bit more next level to me.
Type 10 is too new and its cababilities are more or less being kept a secret. We dont know how much armor it has, the penetration it has, or even the reload rate.
@@kingisaacius9712 Yea you’re right. But some of the vehicles have guessed armor, pen, and other things. There is info on its “Type 10” round ~700mm of pen. Anyways, i want something else, the Type 90’s are good tanks, but they have nothing to back them up.

Please dear god add the 120mm APHE "anti-submarine" round for the Chi-Ha short gun. It desperately needs it to be any actual use in rank 2. Especially since most of the other rank 2 vehicles are at 2.3, meaning you'll get a full up-tier to 3.3 everytime you want to use it. And even making a 1.7 lineup gets you a 2.7 battle against 105 Shermans'. It is known that the crews were provided, though not all of them, with a small amount of these rounds. You could implement them in the same way you do certain ammo belts and only allow the player to bring a few into battle. And it would help the tank out tremendously for rank 2 Japanese tech tree
Considering the Japanese gave their tank designers about 2 quid for a budget, it is VERY impressive what they managed to develop. Also the genius idea of the Chi Nu 2, effectively and quickly converting their pre war and early war models into Panzer 4s in case of an American invasion.
Maybe not the best tanks that ever existed, but they have a charm all their own. Have long been fond of the aesthetics of the Chi-Ha. In the game, they can be nice to play, if you are just looking for some fun.

If they do add Korean tanks like the K1A1 or M-2020 I would guess the would put North Korea with China and South Korea with Japan. Either that or just make a whole new tech tree which is probably not a good idea.
currently grinding it and completely agree
This is why historical matchmaking doesn't work
my favourite tech tree. no lack of high calibre cannons and no lack of gun depression, theres never any mindless gameplay in these tanks.
This tree is one of my favorites, in no small part due to the 75mm guns on the chi-nu's and chi-to's. Plus the designs are just so different looking to most of the other nations.

Japanese tanks are underrated and not bad
I am almost finished with grinding Japan and have had a blast playing there WW2 tanks and cold war ones as well.
*How much grind you want to implement in your games?*
Gaijin: *YES*
You know the type 90 is essentially a Japanese leopard 2A4
@@monnorcerkl9731 yes, although lesser in armour, but makes up with the autoloader.

@@Correction_Guy Thanks. English is not my native language, I'll try to improve.
@@hazraz4195 no worries, this is why I'm here
I absolutely love the trees. The air, ground, and naval fit my play style perfectly. My only problem is the the silver lion and research point cost of the type 16. Compared to the 9.0 centuaro, I feel that it is unfairly priced.
There is some evidence that there was an oi prototype made would love to se that thing in the game
oh that monster...
the reserve japanese tanks were a real pain to grind through but it was worth it as soon as you get the derp guns like the Ho-Ro you can even hold your grounds in uptiers... not a beginner friendly tech-tree tho
As Admiral Yamamoto I personally think that the glorious Empire of Japan should’ve built more Yamato’s and more Ohka Sakura’s
I really like it when they put "Kai" on their vehicles. Idk why but it sounds nice
@@MichaeL-sd7wz Cool, didn't know that
Yeah, Kai means "modified/improved", and is separate to the Kou/Otsu/Hei/etc variant names (those are equivelant to the American A1/A2/A3/etc or the British Mk I/II/III/etc).
I come back here every now and then so that I can feel like it's the first time again.
My favourite tanks were Hago, Keni, Kami. Good pen inb4 volume.
My worst experience with the Japanese tanks was a constant up tier where i had to fight german tigers and panthers and soviet IS-1/2 tanks
The rank 3 Chi's are basically panzer 4's and with better guns imo. Especially the Chi Ri with its autoloader which can come in clutch
Man this would’ve been great to know as my first nation was japan
The Chi-to's and Chi-Ri can be very dangerous in the right hands
Yea i think the japanese tanks are kinda underrated, yes they don't have any armor but with some luck and skill u can bounce or use the hilly terrain to hide ur tanks. Btw Chi Ha Kai was my fav
No armour best armour

Amazing a Type 97 Chi-Ha can destroy a giant like the T35
T-35 is weak when it comes to armor
Love me some Japanese tanks, the provide a fun amount of firepower, mobility and fight in then for low tier
WAIT the end was different from the norm, Bruce said "we love listening" and all the patches called we fixed it actually help the game grow. Have gaijin actually turned around to become legitimately concerned for the playerbase and it's wants.
GREAT JOB GAIJIN KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Still waiting for the O-I tank
It was hell at the start of this tech tree. After you get borrowed tanks, it was a breathing space.
Add the Japanese Panther, add the O-I, Add the Ho Ri I and Ho Ri II, add the Japanese Pz III's, add the Ka-To. Then we'll see Japan catching up with the other countries more.
The thing is, that WT tries to be somewhat realistic and only adds tanks, that really existed.
That's why the removed the Maus as well.
@@justmoddie5963 *Sweats in Ho-Ri* Idk if it actually existed though, but I've heard it didn't. The Maus existed though.
Medium Tank nº5 would be cool but im afraid it would be a premium or event
O-I absolutely yes
Ho-Ri I could be a nice addition at 6.0

Should definitely add those massive tanks that are on WOT - those heavy tanks with insane armor. (I didn't really played WOT that much to know the specifics but I heard it had great armor and fire power - a true heavy boi)
sadly the Type 4 and 5 to wich your refers never had existed as blueprints...but the O-I tank did! such a beautifull shoebox with a massive PP lmao.
They should definitely add it (maybe as a premium but add it ffs)
@@bruhman5385 Unfortunate :( Ive seen videos on it so I never played it (was a ruski main and never even reached top tier cuz am constantly broke.) Thanks for the heads up!
Japanese heavy tanks. If you please!

@@herrfingerknacks4970 Under current rules, once a half prototype has been built, it can now be put into the game.
I'm not sher, but the O-I tank was built and used somewhere in China.
There is very little information about the tank so it is also difficult to implement in the games.
The chi-ri tank has a battle rate of 5.0 in ab, which makes it difficult to go into battle with other tanks.
why is it that airfield AAA when it shoots at me feels like aimbot. Hitting me at 4 to 5 km away while opening at 700+kph But when i need it to shoot a target strafing the airfield. They are blind
True
The Chi-Nu II really is a one shot wonder, it packs a punch so hard!!!
They are so under powered that it's bearly possible to "climb the ranks"!
too underrated is the answer.
sure its not tough. in my experience most of the time one stops you from moving, especialy in the open it tends to be time to commit seppuku.
but when YOU end up striking first it is usually the same result as a katana slicing a cherry blossom.
that is a good reason to play it out of the enemy sight until they are engaged with your team mates or don't see you at all.
there was this one time i was lucky enough to be in a point with lots of rocks where the enemy could not see me from a distance using the Chi-He if i remember correctly (if not it is one of the same category in Japanese the tech tree.) the result was me see the enemy first an with my cannon closer to them and got kill after kill like this.
as a sign note i adore the APHE shells.
We need Type 10 Godzilla!!!!
XD
Imagine if some genius named one of these tanks the Fuk-Yuu
I-Go is pronounced “ee go” in Japanese
yep, i was triggered when he was like "eye go"
Certainly feel like that explains a lot, since I always feel a step behind on my enemies and always feel like I have to outhink my opponents over a straight front engagement. Though I'm more impressed that the ones I've been leaning towards as saying "This tank is good" are also tanks the Japanese military were feeling like they were on the right track with, so historical accuracy with unit capabilities, that's a bit more next level to me.
Love me some Japanese tanks!
Oh narrator, what would we do without you
Be happier, Also Creamy, if I pronounced some of the names more accurately???

hmm chinese tanks video will be interesting in V-VI-VII rank part LUL
i especially like tier 2.3, because the tanks there are best played with eurobeat.
Can the Japanese get a new top tier? Type 10? Or anything else to fill some of the void? Anything would be nice.
@@kingisaacius9712 I think they should maybe incorporate the South Korean tree with the Japanese.
