- France was responsible for A LOT of unconventional tank designs created in the first half of the XXth century. Tanks with oscillating turrets, 70 ton medium tanks, heavies with very thin armour… In short, the French made many bold choices, and some of those blew up in their faces in one way or another- not because the ideas behind those designs were flawed, no - they were often quite brilliant, in fact - but because French engineers couldn’t always solve all the problems that arose during development. And the saddest tale among them all was the tale of the French heavy tanks.

Uhh, Bruce, you do mean Panzer, right? I don't think the B1 would stand much of a chance against a Panther.
No, he's right, first version of Panzer 4 couldn't penetrate B1's Armor and they often needed air support or stationary 88mm to destroy them.

He also said in the Battle of France
Battle of Stonne with a B1bis commanded by Billote, against a German panzer column and anti-tank guns on the outskirts of the city.
Later the Germans took over the city (which often changed hands) and a second B1 entered the city at night (or the next day, don't remember exactly). He stuck his track lengthwise in a trench full of German, and he made German lasagna.
He win the name of "Butcher of Stonne".

Grinding low tier France with a friend, just spaded the first ARL and that was a fun tank

The AMX-50 Surblindé is actually my favorite tank, I just wish there was a way to get it without emptying my wallet since Gaijin wasted it on the worst event they ever made...

I honestly wish they bring back the Lorraine 155 available to research in the tech tree. I find this tank so good and so awesome. French doesn't have a lot of howitzers (M4A3 105). I wanted to use it as an artillery support tank, with the help of a scout. Could be fun.

I like the ARL 44. That big front plate probably gives it a pretty fair chance in head to head engagements, especially at longer distances.
Which one? Because they both have weak turret armor and can be penetrated easily

I'd go for the 90mm. And I didn't know that. Maybe if you go in and out of cover, only exposing your front plate most of the time and just focus on keeping the turret safe, you might stand a good chance.
@@undertow619 yeah but it's hard, I use both and they're really fun to play but if they are already looking at you most ppl know to shoot the turret and it's hard to hide it

Surblindé would be better. But Maus would get clapped hard.

Remove repair cost, or SL all together. No point in having secondary RP.
I do think that repair costs have gotten pretty ridiculous in the past 3 years however sl and bonus rp are rooted in the games mechanics. How we fix this is by either A: lower repair costs on vehicles that need them or B: give higher reward rates to vehicles that need them
@@operation1523 Yeah, some kind of change is needed. Its really easy to go into debt in War Thunder, and Gaijin's shitty map design and bad BR balancing isn't helping.

Fun fact: the B1 bis once took out an entire panzer company
It s called the B1 bis the char mean the tank in french
The oscillating turret had to be the only stand out feature unique to France. Personally, it saw a new way to create elevation and depression angles
If I'm correct, the B1 ter did exist, it was just sunk as it made its way to broitain from a collapsing France
I play France a lot, and I'm kinda having trouble to get any profit SL. While I do get lots of money in rounds where I win, I also lose a lot in rounds where we lose and I play bad in them. Never had that problem with Germany except at tier 6.7

My favorite is definitely the FCM F1, a twin-turret beast which was a development from the great war era Char 2C. It obviously didnt advance past a wooden mockup due to the outbreak of the war. This vehicle would be an interesting addition to war thunder.

This is not related to the video’s subject but I need to say this, the F84 F-2 sabre is at an unfair battle rating and needs a buff to at least 8.7 because playing supersonic jets with missiles and yak 38s or any aircraft that goes up to 10.7

Oh, I'm not sure, there are only 3 french heavy tanks, they could all be labelled as interesting since there are so few and so far between each other that it's not really worth ranking.

You are mistaken. 2 prototypes were built, and one had the turret that we have in the game (the devs made this simple - lazy? - choice allowing to copy-paste the turret of the Lorraine 40t)
@@No_Camping It wasn't built in that configuration, never meant to be. France wanted to show off what they had on on parade so they took the second AMX-50 hull and slapped on the Lorraine 40t turret as an interim, strictly for parade use and nothing more. It was swapped out for the correct AMX-50 turret and tested as designed. Same hull got turret swapped again for the first 120mm prototype. But the AMX-50 in-game was never meant to exist as a combat vehicle.

Why is the AMX 50 usin the wrong turret? (I know 2 versions were shown off but the one the french army adopted was the rework of the AMX M4 turret). Also how come the Schnider 90mm SA-45 and SA-47 (found on the ARL-44 and AMX M4) are not as powerful as their real life version both of which out performed the german 8,8 cm Kwk 43 (found on the Tiger II) in fire power (Also in IRL both the ARL-44 and the AMX M4 used APCBC rounds instead of APC).

The country that created the first turreted tank, then stunted itself by creating poorly designed one man turret tanks, with no radios and poor tactics to boot. No wonder those Panthers, sorry I mean Panzers had a field day.

That giant gun in the hull is apparently a 7.5cm gun and wayyy inferior to long 7.5cm gun on the Panther.Other than shooting to it’s side armor at very close range B1 has no chance of destroying a Panther.
It’s wayy outclassed in every single metric imaginable,even a long barreled Panzer IV is way too much for a B1 to handle.

I find it pretty hard to play in a french tank. The main reason i stopped playing it was beacause the first time i got my arl44(played in battle) i was faced against a tiger 2 head on
