@@TheCommandersQuarters This deck is amazingly fun to play. I took out Butcher, because those Grave Pact style effects make the game not fun to play. I have a deck that does that and it's just an awful slog for everyone else, which, yes, I win a lot with it, but it's not going to gain me any friends in the process of playing, especially in a casual format. The Aristocrat style of this deck is amazing to watch unfold. I also took out the ramp specific spells (ramp creatures are good, though) and put in more mana dorks, because I want people to kill my creatures and the more creatures, as opposed to lands, that I have to sac or wipe with my own board wipes (Bontu's Last Reckoning, etc.) the more damage or life loss I can inflict in one go. Again, super fun. Would recommend.
Good way to play a similar deck that can be slightly stronger is to play Ghave, Guru of Spores as your commander because it relies on saproling creation and sacrifice for it's abilities, use that added white to add in cheap populate triggers like growing ranks, or selsnya guildmage otherwise it's pretty much the same deck, just make sure Slimsfoot is on the 99 and overall the price would likely require anywhere from 0-10 dollars more depending on conditions of cards and what you decide to switch out.

I built a very similar slimefoot deck myself several years back, it was my first successful homebrew commander deck. I've won several games with a sneaky tainted strike it also doesn't put a huge target on slimefoots back like an equipment card does. Couple other cards I would recommend is an elvish farmer which does the same spore counter mechanic but is also a sacrifice outlet that gives you 2 life for a saproling. Another would be spore flower wich has the spore counter mechanic but it is basically a fog on a stick.
Just built this deck today and played a game of EDH with it! I opened him in a pack and slapped together a few junk rares and common green/black cards I had lying around in a card box. Had a blast! Ended up stalling out and winning against two huge trample-giant creature decks. With an army of squelching 1/1 fungus creatures. We had a hell of a time laughing at how broken the triggers get with so many saprolings dying off. I was drawing cards and gaining life for every saproling, or creature, dying. An army of weaklings managed to scare off massive creatures with their ritual sacrificing and deathtouch 1/1s holding down the fort. No one wanted to attack me because of it! Headed to an online store right now to order most of the cards you've listed! I have some that you showed, and some you didn't that make this deck crazy fun to pilot. (Like "Moldervine Reclamation"

If you really want to keep the blood artist trigger try vindictive vampire it hits all opponents instead of 1 for a few mana more not bad at all for a few cents.
I literally priced out a version of a Slimefoot deck this weekend, came in around $80 and wasn’t nearly as focussed as this one. I’ll be stealing some hints from this to crank mine up a bit. Thanks.
I noticed at the end that illusionists bracers said "whenever an ability of equipped creature is activated, if it isn't a mana ability, copy that ability..." Now I completely agree this is a really good card for this deck, if you put it on mycoloth it would double the amount of tokens put out or on sporesower thalid you could increase the number of spore tokens put on your fungi, but you can't use it for the slimefoot infinite loop at the end. Thanks for your time 😁
In my Slimefoot deck, I use an infinite engine, Spike Breeder/Ashnod's Altar/Ivy Lane Denizen. If you have these out, Fecundity allows you to draw your deck and find any card you need.
Ever since I first saw this card back in the early Dominaria days, I was positive that it would become a popular budget EDH deck. Time has apparently proven me wise. Plus, Dominaria gave this card plenty of immediate support, which was awesome.
A fun little upgrade card could be Thelon of Havenwood. It is a fun card that can turn your old thallids into a big threat. Combined with sporesower thallid and all the fungus in the deck she turns your creatures that were just there to produce saprolings into big threats.
I love this deck. My very first deck was based on saporlings and getting into commander more and more this is a deck I will definitely build with some additions
Oh happy day! A use for all my fungus and sap cards (because saprolings/thallids arent standard at all anymore :P)! And hey id be making an EDH deck thats with a creature type i like, SHROOOOOOOOOOOMS!!
So I thought the Reaper King deck was nostalgic, but it was the Time Spiral Thallid Precon that got me to go to my first Prerelease, so lots of these cards hold a special place for me. It's especially great that the Golden Pig is from Planar Chaos.

Fungal Bloom and Spore Flower are two additional cards that I like to play when using aThallid theme in a deck. Thelon of Havenwood is another good one, but probably not right for this deck
I can't say I fancy exiling critters from my own bin, but I have quite a few ideas as to how I would like to double and triple down on punishing my opponents for mulching my saps.
Afternoon, I was wondering if there ever could be a Grimlock, dinosaur leader deck tech? I know it’s not a legal card but I feel it would be an amazing and fun video. Anywho, thanks for the videos Mitch, I actually built your “The Scarab God” deck and started upgrading it. Keep it up man =D
If the person who uses this as a bit of a template for their own Slimefoot deck decides to add a few auras, Dreampod Druid is a solid choice, because EACH upkeep spits out a Saproling token bro. He costs like 20 cents max least where I live, I have him in a Marath Naya Enchantment deck. He's done some solid work for me, especially with Impact Tremors and Altar of the Brood on the field.
Add Ashnods Altar, Phyrexian Altar, Dread, Vigor, Gaea's Blessing, maybe a Whetstone, Saproling Cluster, and tutors/draw to grab them. Basically, turn this deck into the infinite mana cluster bomb combo(Altar/Fecundity/Saproling Cluster). One creature on the Ashnod's Altar gives two mana and one card, which you then funnel into Cluster, netting one mana. The creature sacrifice itself triggers Slimefoot, but if thats not enough for some reason then you can funnel all the mana into Whetstone to mill. Dread and Vigor(was Serra Avatar in the original) keep you from decking/drawing yourself dead. Same thing can happen with Phyrexian Altar since you technically don't need the infinite mana to pour into a kill card since Slimefoot is the kill card.
@@dus65 Or just Ashnods Altar, every token doubler (Parallel Lives, Doubling Season, Primal Vigor), and the black tutors to grab them. All you need is the Altar, Slimefoot, and one doubler to go infinite and win.
@@sages10 change the commander to Ghave Guru Of Spores and put Slimefoot in the 99 and you can add in Rhys The Redeemed, Annointed Procession, Selsnyan populate effects, and a bunch of stall to hold your opponents back while you build your army.
Can't wait to build this! I think I might also put Phyresis and Tainted Strike in there as I recently picked them up. Also, thinking of ways to go infinite with Ashnod's Altar...
Worth noting that the convoke on Sprout Swarm can also be used to pay the buyback cost, so eventually you're casting it with buyback purely by tapping creatures. Also, Night Soil gives you redundancy on Necrogenesis.
I would add in as a substitute for Necrogenesis to try using Night Soil instead. It only costs one mana and exiles two creatures from a graveyard instead of one and it's in the activation cost, which means the action of exiling them cannot be responded to. Will probably result in fewer saps but exiles more stuff and prevents them from doing their own graveyard mechanics in response.
Deathreap ritual is a more budget friendly replacement for Fecundity which keeps your oppoents from drawing so many cards. I think you can draw near as many cards. Also with little protection for slimefoot Skullclamp may be more reliable than Keen Sense. Nothing like setting one's self up for getting 2 for 1'd when Slimefoot is removed. (Oops, I missed that Deathreap is on the same screen as Fecundity.)
Great video, Slimefoot just begs for a fun, affordable deck with a million little interactions. I'd love to see what you would do with Dralnu, Breya or Karlov, btw. They're interesting pieces for budget Control/midrange.
Tom Pope suggestions that are not in either this deck list or the reasonable upgrades (and why) are as follows: Glistening Oil: it’s a slightly worse Grafted Exoskeleton. Yes, it slowly kills Slimefoot, but you’re usually holding it until you’re ready to go for the win, so no biggie. It’s also better than most other auras because it returns itself to your hand when it hits the graveyard from the battlefield. Beastmaster’s Ascension: sometimes you’ll find yourself unable to cast Slimefoot. Maybe the Azorius player caught it in a Detention Sphere, or any white player hit it with Ixalan’s Binding. Maybe it’s just been removed to the point that you cannot afford the mana anymore. Whatever the reason, you need a back-up plan, and making your 1/1s into 6/6s is a pretty good way to switch from aristocrats combo to aggro (Tendershoot Dryads also helps with this, but is included in the upgrades list, so no section of its own here). Triumph of the Hordes: this is the perfect card for both of this deck’s plans. It gives your tokens +2/+2, Trample and Infect to make them good at combat, and also give Slimefoot Infect to force your opponents into dying whether they kill your tokens in combat or not. Eldrazi Monument: gives your creatures Indestructible and flying. The +1/+1 is just a cool bonus. Also, the sac trigger in upkeep is not a bug in this deck, it’s a feature. While you’re playing aristocrats combo, it helps keep your pieces in play. Should you need to switch to aggro, you’re now much more effective at combat, what with evasion and indestructible.
The only problem with that combo is that it truly goes infinite, meaning that unless you can actually stop it, with something that counters an ability, the game draws and it ends with no winners. I tried this before but I had blue in the deck so I could cast trickbind, thus stopping the loop.
@@andrewday8886 You don't have to actually counter the ability to make it stop, you just need some instant speed way to kill one of them and/or your opponents while the trigger keeps looping. Remember, each ability goes on the stack in response to the previous one *resolving*, not triggering, and you can let the loop happen a few times before dealing with it without it going truly infinite. So lets say I have the two of these, Slimefoot, and a sacrifice engine (say, Thallid Germinator) out and I play a Forest, thus starting the loop. Assuming none of my opponents respond to the first trigger by killing one of the enchantments and/or me, I can let the trigger resolve and re-trigger for a given number of times. Let's say 50. So at the 51st trigger of Sporemound, I hold priority and activate my sacrifice engine, sacrificing a Saproling. As soon as I pay the sacrifice cost (even before the ability triggers), Slimefoot triggers and pings my opponents for 1. If any of them are alive after that, I can repeat that process. Sure, the Sporemound trigger is still there, waiting to resolve, but if I can keep responding to it and kill my opponents, the game will end without going into a draw.
Fantastic deck tech, just another suggestion for reasonal upgrades, again Doubling season would be an absolute killer in this deck mainly because of the amount of tokens being created, that and with any enchantments and creatures that get counters each time would make for a crazy deck
@@matheusrudzevicius6448 true, I do know its expensive, thats because I own one, and even though it is expensive, doesn't mean you can't have it in this deck, especially for the fact that with being able to continually put Fade counters on Saproling Burst means those tokens being created by that enchantment will continue to be really powerful, practically Saprolings created from this enchantment will only get more powerful, that and they will never die. Hahaha!!!
Sure a low mana cost on Keen Sense is great but I feel Snake Umbra should be the golden pig because it protects the commander, as well as giving +1/+1 so it has more than one use. A card with just the main effect you want would be a backup copy.
I love Slimefoot so much. He won me the Dominaria draft my friends had. This is a fun build but if anyone wants to make him serious, steer clear of the fungi and spore counter strategy. It's way too slow and there's many other cards to produce saprolings more quickly
There's a way to make all creatures Saprolings: the enchantment Conspiracy! 2BB that lets you turn all creatures you own, even in your hand and deck, become a creature type of your choice! Ok, you won't be able to regenerate target fungus anymore, but for that, you can add Blessing of Leeches, an Aura with flash that lets you pay 0 and regenerate enchanted creature, but it pings you for 1 at the beginning of your turn.
Appreciate this deck no doubt. How about a ghave guru of spores tech? And maybe a Break the bank version of this one. By the way have never played commander but your channel has me wanting to.
This literally was the last edh deck I searched just last night. I was looking to upgrade my $300 deck as it tends to die to commsnder damage or other strategies for being to slow with too few creatures on board and too few answers. My budget increased to $400+ to help with speed and removal.

I just noticed that with Heartstone, Utopia Mycon, Jade Mage and Pitiless Plunderer you have an infinite combo. Heartstone is definitely going in my deck!!! @@sages10 change the commander to Ghave Guru Of Spores and put Slimefoot in the 99 and you can add in Rhys The Redeemed, Annointed Procession, Selsnyan populate effects, and a bunch of stall to hold your opponents back while you build your army.
I love saprolings and this deck tech! Would love to see a sygg river guide deck too bc merfolk are my favorite tribe!
I want to see you play with some of your decks! That would be great!
The studio is nearing completion and filming will begin shortly after!
Slime foot is one of my favorite cards ever printed
Love the tactics names lol
I definitely want to put together a Slimefoot EDH deck now.
Blessed 🙏 now i can turn my modern saproling deck into a commander deck
Great video, Slimefoot just begs for a fun, affordable deck with a million little interactions. I'd love to see what you would do with Dralnu, Breya or Karlov, btw. They're interesting pieces for budget Control/midrange.
Geezes -- still at it!
Amazing
What manner of heck
I'm so pleased with this ouo
Still having my fingers crossed for Mistform Ultimus one day xD
It's expensive, but doubling season would be insane in this deck. Great build!
Tom Pope Can confirm, I have one in my own Slimefoot deck. It does much work.
Absolutely!
@@TheComicBookJoker sounds like a no brainier to me. Anything else you've added that might be interesting?
Tom Pope suggestions that are not in either this deck list or the reasonable upgrades (and why) are as follows:
Glistening Oil: it’s a slightly worse Grafted Exoskeleton.
Life and Limb would be another good upgrade card at like $4 for the combo with sporemound and mana potential.
@@brendaneichler5244 I had not looked at it that way. Thank you for the clarification!:)
A good consideration!
I just ran about half of these in my Oviya deck but that golden pig choice is incredible
Fantastic deck tech, just another suggestion for reasonal upgrades, again Doubling season would be an absolute killer in this deck mainly because of the amount of tokens being created, that and with any enchantments and creatures that get counters each time would make for a crazy deck
Its also more expensive then the whole thing
@@matheusrudzevicius6448 true, I do know its expensive, thats because I own one, and even though it is expensive, doesn't mean you can't have it in this deck, especially for the fact that with being able to continually put Fade counters on Saproling Burst means those tokens being created by that enchantment will continue to be really powerful, practically Saprolings created from this enchantment will only get more powerful, that and they will never die. Hahaha!!!
@@jacobmeagher i mean, if you have one sure, put it in, its an amazing card in the deck indeed
@@matheusrudzevicius6448 true.
I love Slimefoot and loved that deck! 💚
Can you do an upgrade deck tech for Tatyova? Also, you sound much better. I hope you're feeling well
Maybe in the future! Thanks!
best deck I've made all the love here
I was thinking about building a saproling deck last night too lol
Sure a low mana cost on Keen Sense is great but I feel Snake Umbra should be the golden pig because it protects the commander, as well as giving +1/+1 so it has more than one use. A card with just the main effect you want would be a backup copy.
I love Slimefoot so much. He won me the Dominaria draft my friends had. This is a fun build but if anyone wants to make him serious, steer clear of the fungi and spore counter strategy. It's way too slow and there's many other cards to produce saprolings more quickly
I’ve been waiting for this for so long!
Awesome deck. I love Saprolings
100% want this deck and would love to see an upgraded version
I'm always excited seeing a new vid!
Excellent work!
This literally was the last edh deck I searched just last night. I was looking to upgrade my $300 deck as it tends to die to commsnder damage or other strategies for being to slow with too few creatures on board and too few answers. My budget increased to $400+ to help with speed and removal.
Great video, man! Thanks
not sure if it was out yet, but Vindictive Vampire is another card to add for creature death with life loss plus gain :)
It wasn’t, but it is definitely an amazing card to add in!!!
@@TheCommandersQuarters in arena right now im running saprolings with 4 each vindictive vampires, poison tipped archers, and then 3 each slimefoots and whispers(sacrifice 2 return creature), 4 sporecrown thallids and then the rest make saprolings.. also tossed in the demon for 8 that you can sacrifice to remove 2each from cost :) theres more but cant remember them all lol
@@tornadojoe87 Nice!
A bit outside of the budget is Vedalken Orrery, but then again it's a great card in just about any deck
Pitiless plunderer… 16 cents
I just noticed that with Heartstone, Utopia Mycon, Jade Mage and Pitiless Plunderer you have an infinite combo. Heartstone is definitely going in my deck!!!
Also Night Soil is better than Necrogenesis, and pricewise it's still in the budget realm. Yes I know it's a bit narrow but in the right meta it's amazing!
Some of these prices from 4 years ago are killing me 😭 Second Harvest budget?!
I already built a deck with Slimefoot. Always wanted a Commander for all the Fungi. Would really love a doubling season for this deck. I think it would power it up quite much. Just the budget restricts it.
Agreed so for now I went and got parallel lives which is just a token doubler but more affordable
Seeing this deck tech is really tempting me to switch my hapatra and use fungus boy as a general
I’m running a Ghave fungus deck. I love my Life and Limb with Mycloth
Lol life and limb with sporemound
What do the reasonable upgrades replace?
This is amazing !!!! awesome content bro
never noticed how it did direct dmg to face. Holy shit the potential is huuuuuge.
