I just found out today, that Pete Rose passed yesterday 08/30. I'm like still reeling from the fact that John Amos died today, just to learn about Pete Rose. My goodness, may both of them RIP.
I met Rose when I was a little kid, age 12. It was amazing. He was managing the Reds at the time, and I met him before the game because we got there early. It was such a thrill. I got an autograph on the bill of my Reds hat. Rose then bet me that his team would lose that day by at least two runs. I was Reds fan, so I took the bet. I thought the Reds would win. I figured nothing would come from it. After the game, in which the Reds lost by 4, Rose tracked me down in the parking lot as I was leaving with my family. He grabbed me by the back of my jersey and demanded payment. It was only $10, but I didn't have it. I bought a hot dog and a drink at the game, and that was my whole allowance. Pete then grabbed my wallet to confirm it was empty. He then took my shoes as "payment." He said it was a "good lesson" for me. Anyway, I made it home without shoes, but I'll always cherish the autograph I have on that ball cap. Magical.
My favorite Baseball player ever, Thank You Pete Rose, you played the game like it should have been played ❤.

What a legend. Pete was a baller like few other. Hall of Fame or no Hall of Fame, one of the greatest ever. Whatever mistakes he made, on the field he played the game right - all hustle, grit, talent, and total commitment.
MLB should reconsider its decision. MLB should be remembered as the one that forgave a human being who made a mistake. sincerely served an exemplary punishment
A mistake would be once or twice. Not doing repeatedly over a 20 plus year career. Nor lying about it for nearly 2 decades
Rest well, Charlie...thanks for the memories
Man that's tough Mutumbo and Rose both checked out the same day. Two legends respectfully we're beast.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢so many tears
“You don’t bet on baseball”
Funny how you can’t watch a min of professional sports today, without betting odds plastered on the tv. If they put him in now that he’s passed, that’s even more disgraceful than banning him for life
I can not take David Samson seriously while sitting in that chair.
Magical.
Pete Rose played baseball as it should be played, with the heart. Rest in Peace my childhood hero.
