    As a Cubs fan, it was magical having Pete there for that 2016 run. As a diehard Red & Phillie he talked so much trash about the Cubs are gonna choke, then they didn't, and he was a good sport about it all. That group with A-Rod, Big Frank, Pete, D-Train & Kevin helped make that 2016 run even more fun. Great chemistry and alot of fun those playoffs were. Great memories. RIP Pete.

    Pete did whatever it took to make his team better. Whether it was hitting to any part of the field, stealing a base, diving head first on a double or triple, his passion and grit was amazing to watch. But once he was caught for gambling, that's when everyone's perception of him changed. Hopefully, with his passing--the Hall of Fame can somehow relax their rules and let him into Cooperstown (with an asterisk on the bottom of his plaque.)

    I'm sorry but these 3 guys are the worst sports announcers. All great players but that doesn't make any of them appealing as announcers. They mostly enjoy talking about themselves and their days as players. They come off as unprofessional especially Big Papi.
    He likely would have been laughed out of the interview if he wasn't a well known ball player.

    His numbers are good enough for the HOF but his own stupid decisions should keep him out. Every baseball player from day one has it drilled in their head you do not bet on baseball. It is the one rule you don't break. I have no sympathy for him. He knew what the consequences would be if he was caught betting on baseball and he made the decision to do it anyway. Baseball didn't keep Pete Rose out of the HOF Pete Rose's arrogance and stupidity did. “You can ignore reality, but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality”

      Tough to hear but true. Seems a little hypocritical that MLB rushed to create a fall guy for Ohtani though. Money > players now

    I could understand them keeping Pete out for betting if they didn't advertise betting in commercials between innings. It's hypocrisy. So if they can make millions of dollars of betting its ok.

      @@paulg6274 Do you really not understand betting FOR your team or AGAINST your team. Because there is a HUGE difference. Also, Rose never bet as a player, he bet as a manager.

      @@garygable4170 well firstly it sounds like he bet against his team also, and he was a player/manager at the end of his career; but betting FOR your team as a manager is also shady. He has inside knowledge and can manage the game in atypical ways. He can use all his best bullpen arms even when game does not call for it, he might know exactly when a player is coming off the DL or bump their ace up a day.

    • @garygable4170
      @garygable4170 Месяц назад

      @@paulg6274 He never bet on baseball as a player and never against his team as a coach. I get it, there were a lot of people that hated Rose because he was cocky and arrogant and played the game all out. That made a lot of lazy players look bad, and lot of fans of other teams hate him because he was so good. He has the greatest record in all of baseball with over 4000 hits. He had the 2nd longest hit streak in baseball, and the biggest for the National League. He played more games than anybody. He had 3 gold gloves, 17 times all star, 3 World Series Rings and made everybody around him better. He played every position on the field except pitcher and catcher. He was a leader if there ever was one. None of those accomplishments had anything to do with gambling. The HOF is useless without him.

    • @paulg6274
      @paulg6274 Месяц назад

      @@garygable4170 Im not saying anything about his accomplishments, but the "hate" and punishment he recieved was justified. He agreed to a lifetime ban and in exchange the legaue would stop their investigation, but he still denied betting on baseball for decades afterwards. So anything he says on the topic cannot be trusted, and it seems likely there was some more serious stuff he didn't want exposed. He also had an affair with a 14 yr old but that's a seperate issue. Even if all he did was bet on the Reds as a manager, it is enough to keep him out of the HOF. Not sure if you even read my reply but there are many shady things a manager can do, even if betting to win.
