@@PughsReview thank you, well I got impatient and went and bought a microphone that is listed on Turtle beaches site for around 90Gbp(about 100 usd I think),
for 10gbp (12usd)...
My headset had a splitter anyways, but couldn't get it to work, instead I routed my microphone to my surround sound, and then used male-male aux from the SS headphones port to microphone and it works lol, my microphone is plugged into the TV (5v usb).
I'll check your other video out, to see if there is any other product I can get to make this work without the SS system.
@@PughsReview the buzz does not go away, and even when it does the mic doesnt work, unless I am placing it in the wrong location.
The fact usb mics are still not a thing on xbox is such a let down.
I agree with that only thing the ps5 has on xbox
@@PughsReview absolutely. I wanted to switch to xsx for gamepass, freesync etc. But I need USB mics to work for what I do. Seems like I won’t be able to make the switch yet.. bummer.
Wireless headsets aswell
@@cyclo.979 well we do got those
@@PughsReview and the controllers are much more advanced. I wish Xbox controllers had haptic touch feedback vibration and a built in touch pad thing. But besides that, everything else is Xbox win for me.

I think one of the most common issues people may run into is following all of these steps and still not having the microphone work. And it’s a simple fix that many won’t think to try. When you’re powering your microphone with a PC, you have to go into the properties for the microphone and make sure that in the levels it isn’t toggled to be muted. Unmute and bam, it works wonderfully. I had a hell of a time figuring that out but once I did it was problem free.
Ok I'll keep that in mind if someone says it's not working thanks.
@@PughsReview For sure! I’ve just had a lot of frustration with this over time (not because of your video) so I definitely wanted to share the knowledge.
Maybe this is why my pc38 don’t work with my Xbox
@@loneliestshrimp1181 PC38X is just a 3.5mm connection so you shouldn’t have any issue at all. You’re plugging directly into your controller? And what’s happening?
@@Malrats mic didn’t work but I fixed it
You're a life saver! I won the Rode NT Mini in a raffel and wasnt sure to go buy all the extra bits in case it didnt work.
Now i can see you have all the exact same hardware as me so gonna get this set up and rocking!
Thanks very much sir!
That's a great mic to win. Glad I was able to help you out.
my mans really had a physical transformation, good work!!
Also would add that with the xbox controller co-pilot mode you could hook up all your connections on one controller and set it to the side and play on the co-pilot controller.... less cumbersome!
Do you need to plug the usb still into your Xbox or no just wondering btw great video.
The mic it iself just needs power dosent matter from where
Can absolutely help you with this. for the Xbox Controller with just the headphone jack. Use a 3.5m cord and use a splitter with it. Plug the splitter into the controller and then plug the 3.5m into the mic jack on the splitter and the other end to the USB mic. then plug the headset jack into the headset port on the splitter and your mic will instantly work.
I'll try it
@@PughsReview Appreciate it
Thanks for sharing this. Just to share, I tried this and it works but the audio coming out of the headset is pretty poor and not the same, not sure why. Unless my splitter cable is bad.
Yea I do plan on trying to make another video this up coming year to hopefully find a alternative or to try the difference and pick the better method.
Every video I’ve watched says that u can’t use a headset with a mic on it cause it interferes with the usb mic is this true or can I still use a headset with a mic on as long as I have all the stuff u listed ?
All I know is I had a one my headset and it worked still I just flipped the mic up to mute and wala usb mic worked.
So I'm using xbox series s, a Furine usb mic, a ugreen audio splitting cable with the headphone/mic inputs and a corsair hs35 headset ( has a detachable mic ) and it works without the turtle beach adapter.
Try plugging in your controller and updating or re updating the actual controller. But think it has alot to do with the mic of choice. Cheap plug and play mics seem to work.
I'd recommend to anyone that's set to using to a usb mic, to get the cable first and see if it work for you and the setup you have.
Nice I might try this and just temple the video if it works thanks
You think it works with the fifine k658, thanks a lot
Hey mate thanks for the splitter it helped a lot, I have been able to make it work on a Razer Wolverine v2 controller who has only a 3.5mm jack , actually found 2 ways. If you are still interested let me know
Heck yea go ahead if its a new way I'll make a video for it.
Hey do all the headphone jacks have to have 3 lines or is 2 ok? Great Video
I have a even easier way…plug your headset into the adapter…remove the mic on the headset and then plug a 3.5-3.5 from the mic port on the headset to the headphone port on the usb mic…this removes the splitter and stops any feedback 👍
Nice
bro thank you so much for this man. i used this and had a lot of feedback so was thinking of just returning the mic and getting a headset and i saw ur comment and wanted to try it out to see and it worked. no feedback at all. thank you🫡
I’m already having success with the setup thanks to this video and Pugh ofc but I seen u say easier way and honestly I got lost in wtf u were saying idk what u mean explain it in baby terms if possible
Because I have everything needed splitter 3.5 plug everything In the video but in your explanation I got lost after remove the mic on the headset and than plug a 3.5 3.5 from the mic port on The headset to the headphone port on the usb mic like literally don’t get wym how is that possible
Is there an arm stand that you use for your microphone. Been looking for one and can’t find one.
here you go this is what i use and its cheap. amzn.to/3yfxi6b
The turtle beach stream mic can be used on xbox also i dont recommend corded splitters
So you still connect the mic to the USB port on the Xbox for power right? Just for the power portion or does it get power from just going into the splitter into the controller? Thanks for the video also hopefully it works on my microphone. I have a Fifine USB microphone with a headphone cable and volume adjustment but it also has 4 different microphone patterns so I'm not sure how it will work.
Plug the mic into the console for USB power. Hopefully it works for you.
It works or not ? because i would like to know cause i will buy a fifine too
Chicken and Pizza can you tell me if it works please ?
I hve the Razer Kraken heaphones that come with an audio/mic splitter and it plugs right into the controler and the mic
Does this work with the tonor tc310?
Quick question…
1. Should I power my mic plugged into PC or Xbox USB port ? Does this matter ?
2. If powered by PC USB Port, but 3.5mm jacked into my controller will the controller still pick up Mic and Headphones ?
3. *Do I have to have Audio settings on console set to stereo uncompressed.
4. Does the 3.5mm Jack have to be labeled Mic/Headphones ?
5. Are there any special settings needed for turtle beach attachment?
Nice video it's very helpful! Thanks
Your welcome. Glad I was able to help.
Hey man I have to blue yeti x and I have all these cables and I’m know I’m connecting it right but it just won’t work. Idk if maybe my mic is broke or my cables. It they are all new
You have the turtle Beach audio connector that goes to the bottom of the controller?
Technically, the Xbox would more like in a sense listening to the monitoring of the recording in a way like you listen through the mics headphone jack, but not exactly having the true signals coming from the Analog to Digital converter in the traditional way.
So whatever sound quality might really depend on just how accurate the mic’s built in headphone Jack is accurate or precise in representing the true audio signals that isn’t making its way to the Xbox, but a carbon copy of it.
While using this can you leave the headset unplugged and listen through the television speakers?
I know this video is old, but will this work on the Hyper X Quadcast S condenser microphone? Also do you connect the usb on the microphone to the Xbox or just connect the 3.5 mm on the back of the microphone?
Sorry I'm late to the party. Quick question
Have you tried using a blue yeti mic for Xbox? I was thinking about buying one
If it has everything my mic did in the video then yes it should work.
What if my mic doesn’t have a head phone jack?
Won't work
@@PughsReview bruh.
So, I did all of this and it's working in party chat on xbox (ring lights up when I talk). But, when I go into MW2, in the audio settings, i can't select "microphone" and i can't hear anyone and they can't hear me...
hm that is weird. first make sure the Turtle beach attachment is set right the audio volume or balanced right those adjust game to chat ratio so if one is higher than the other you will have issues than make sure you don't have it muted from there as well.
Same it'll work sporadically but I'm lost and none of the videos I found have any kind of insight on that.. it's just plug and play and boom it work but nope
Yea I would try another controller to see if it's that maybe I just hooked it all up and like you said boom it worked. So I am lost too but I'll keep digging and trying to figure it out.
@PughsReview remote Xbox series s are brand new just bought them and at least you respond bro thank you any assistance would help I've checked settings and haven't seen anything that might help... even updated the remote
So it would be something from the controller to the mic Unfortunately the only way to test this is process of elimination by switching out every component one at a time to see what is causing the issue.
I have a stealth 600 turtle beach headset and I basically have to get those parts for my razer mic and also having to buy a Apple usb-c and aux converter to connect to my headset due to that my headset is usb-c
Hello, you are a genius.. I have a question, I have a Truthear CO in ear and CORSAIR HS75 XB WIRELESS... can I use this method to use the mic of the corsair and the audio with the truthear in ear?.. I think there is an option inside the corsair to deavctivate audio and leave only mic..
You do not need the turtle Beach gizmo at all. Perhaps there has been an update since posting this video, but it works with out the gizmo for me. Plug in the splitter in to the controller and go.
Maybe I will check into it.
I have a tiny basic 3.5mm microphone plugged directly into the controller, and while I can hear the person using the controller with that, they can't hear me in fortnite with me on pc. Bought a splitter so they can have a headphone also corrected, but it still doesn't work
Mine just turnes off my controller
Use a 3.5mm aux to usb 3.0 adaptor. Works like a dream
I'll have to check it out ao just 3.5 to usb is all your need?
@@PughsReview plus the adaptor, I have a different headset these days but early last year I’m sure that’s how I had it
Perfect I'll try it out.
I just got an A6v fifine mic and was wondering if there is a way to do this with a usb c or if there’s a specific adapter(s)I need to make this process work
Everything is in the description to make this usb condenser mic to work
What about the USB for the mic. Did you need that or since you had the jack did you not need to use it?
If the mic is usb powered, you will still need to plug it in your xbox will be fine.
So is it possible to just use the headphone mic for audio instead of an actual mic?
Did you add the black menus in editing? Because I would really like to be able to set that on mine. If you didn't please tell me how you did it.
Quick question: bought this exact mic, can the mic be powered by usb just into a plug, or does it HAVE to be powered through the Xbox usb port. Because I sit quite far from my Xbox. Also, to mute the mic, does that work off of the turtle beach adapter, or on the mic itself?? Thank you :))
Anything that will power the mic with usb will be fine, and you can mute the mic either way.
@@PughsReview great! Thank you for the reply. Less stress now worrying about cable length aha
Out of curiosity, does this make you go through controller batteries more often?
Well, it depends. I would think with anything hooked up, it would because of the signal it sends out from the controller, but technically, it doesn't draw power from the port, so I don't think anyway. 🤣 I'm confusing myself at this point trying to think.
This works but I got a problem it was working w no problems for a month out of nowhere I can hear but can’t talk but if I twist the splitter i can hear hear my voice for a sec then goes out audio works not my voice
Try another controller to see it that's the issue if that dosent work I would assume it the splitter. See if amazon will send you another one for free since it been right at a month
can i have a link to an xbox controller with that square jack at the bottom plz
Hi, sorry if you have already answered to this question but, it work on a fifine k658 ? cause there is a 3.5mm port jack. Thanks😊 ( sorry for my english im french )
Since I do t have that mic I don't know for sure, but if it has what my mic has it should work if you have all of the components.
Whold you be able to use a hyper x quad cast ?
If it has the same features i say in the video then I believe so
You can also put your headset in jack from your monitor an thrn youre micr in to youre controller
Hey, question boss! What's the reason for needing a volume control on the mic? The mic im getting does have one, im just curious as to what the reason is. Im a man who likes to fully understand things lol
SO WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS HOOKING A CABLE TO MONTIOR YOUR VOICE OUT OF THE MIC INTO YOUR HEADSET WITH THE SPLITTER AND THAT NOB CONTROLLS YOUR MONTIORING VOICE WICH IN RETURNS ADJUST MIC IN GAME NOW YOU MIGHT NOT NEED IT BUT THATS WHY MINE IS THERE. lol sorry for all caps I was doing a project with all caps. also, I have a new video out on how to use a usb mic on xbox ruclips.net/video/kLZhvw4rXMU/видео.html
Just set all this up for myself and my friends say I sound like I’m in the bathroom with all of the echo. Any ideas how to fix this ? Cheers.
That's weird make sure all the connections are tight bring the mic closer to you turn the mic down a little see if that helps
Can it be any brand of the group controller or does it necessarily have to be Turtle Beach?
I believe any brand but I know TB works the best since it's what I tested with but fill free to try another one and update us on what also worked. 🙂
Does this work only while making an Xbox party or game chats also?
Works for me in all chats
Do you ABSOLUTELY need the turtle beach one or can I get a different one
I've only tested the Turtle Beach one but I would assume the others will work.
Hey I'm looking at microphones I can use with this setup and I have a question maybe you can help with. If I have the USB mic plugged in this way, and I press the "Mute" toggle on the controller adapter, will that work to mute the mic, or does it need a separate mute button on the microphone itself?
Should work to mute the mic if you hit it on the Controller I would think
So as long as I buy a microphone with a headphone jack I can set it up if I purchase what you all mentioned here and I have another question will I still have to plug the USB of the mic into the xbox or the wall to power the mic ? Please get back to me here
@Pugh’sReview does it have to be a jack to jack microphone? As in, a microphone that has a jack plugged in to it. Or can it just be a microphone to jack?
It has to be a microphone with a monitor port on it to go to the splitter.
@@PughsReview thank you. Do you have any other recommendations for a more budget microphone option? I have my Xbox setup in my lounge so there’s no way to be able to use a desktop microphone.
I am really just getting into mics reviews more so I cam only speak to what I've tested I have a play list cheapest one I did was 35 bucks you can listen to it and see if it sound right for you.
ruclips.net/video/Q1t9Vgq8XmM/видео.html
Does that turtle beach adapter remove all that static noise? I don’t hear it myself in my headset but you can hear it over my twitch stream and it only does it when the mic is unmuted..I also bought a ground loop isolator but when I hook that up it doesn’t pick up the mic anymore..I’d love to go to pc and fix all my problems but that’s just not in the budget at the moment.
Static can be a cable or a controller or a port its simply process of elimination to figure that out.
Hey so I found your other video on Google about USB mics and PC use, I have cords for my new USB mic I got a converter that plugs into the 3.5mm jack the only issue I'm having is trying to get rid of the echo and hearing myself, any advice or ideas you might have im all ears the converter is like the cord you have with the cord extension but I use an aux cord and regular headphones using this U-Tshape converter on my controller in the 3.5mm jack
So, yea this is a new one for me I would start with mic monitoring turn it all the way down see if that helps.
Great video! My only question is why can I hear my voice through the mic and how do I fix that
So that is mic monitoring. You can go into the settings on xbox and turn it down that might work but you are hooking up into a mic monitoring port on the mic so that m8ght just be what you get unfortunately
what mic holder/arm do you use for your mic?
i use a cheap one here it is. amzn.to/3H4eFET
Can someone please recommend a boom arm for the mic he uses in the description, preferably cheap but anything will work, thank you
Just grab the one in the description
I don’t see it I checked every link and could not find it

Thank you so much I have had so much trouble finding one
If you were to un mute your headset would that record audio as well?
Hey man what microphone kit do you use with this?
Everything I use is in the description including my mic
I’m following exactly what you say when it comes to connecting a USB Mike with a headphone jack to the controller with the audio sound thing from turtle Beach. The problem that I’m having right now is static electricity every single time the microphone is picking up some like a buzzing noise and it only picks it up when a noise is admitted in the Mike picks it up
If your running a cable to charge the controller while playing your need a ground loop isolator
@@PughsReview thank you I tried it without using the cable plugged into the controller and it works perfectly fine. I actually have a hyper X microphone with a stand. I was able to get it on discount at Walmart. I looked over the reviews and it was pretty good that’s what I’m currently using. I appreciate your help. Thank you. However, you are correct Xbox should definitely just do a plug and play. It’s so simple the hardware is all there. They just need to do it with a software Side , allowing it to work.

If you mean buzz. Then it depends if you running a power cable to the controller at the same time your need a ground loop isolator
I don’t have a volume thing on my microphone does it work or not cause I don’t want to buy it then it not work
awful lot of bullsh*t to use a usb microphone and still have to have a damned headset…
If I don’t want to use a headset and keep my surround speakers, do I not need a splitter and just the controller adapter ?
There’s a guy that made a video doing a tutorial for a usb mic setup using jus a audio splitter n a male to male aux cord.
Yea I tried that and it didn't work lol so some people says it works but it never worked for me.
I can't quite figure this out. I have all the pieces, and sometimes just the headphones work, sometimes just the mic works. Maybe a bad splitter?
Maybe. Maybe not there's alot of working parts you will need to just go through process of elimination to find out
Great video! Silly question. I have the same external mic (rode) and a headset with a mic also. I haven’t tried this solution (but I’m hoping it works) but will this help other people in the xbox party hear me and in-game audio be heard on a twitch stream? (With the headset mic flipped up). I use a xbox series s and a macbook (no pc) for Lightstream which is a cloud based software :) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I can stream currently with the external mic by myself (headset mic up), but not within a party and my headset mic on (which I need) because it echoes.
I have a headset with a mic flipped up and people where still able to hear me in game chat or xbox party chat. Remember stream will only be able to hear team mates in party chat stream with console. Not sure if that answers you question but I am hear to help so keep asking if not... thanks for the sub btw...
I think the reason it's echoing is because you have 2 audio sources playing at the same time. So sorry im late, I also use light stream and when I add my camera, sometimes it also adds a mic source along with my game source over my stream. I'm not sure where the echoing is happening, but it's due to 2 audio sources displaying your audio. Decide whether you want the mic set to play on your laptop, or on xbox. You can mute your mic through your stream settings on xbox, or mute the mic source on lighstream itself. But you don't want it playing through 2 sources
Works with an XLR-Jack mic and with a Beyerdinamic studio headphone?
Do i have to have the turtle beach thing
If you are doing it this way yes I have a new video out to do it wireless

i was hoping to do this for my xbox one s, does the xbox one audio controller work for the new gen aswell? i can’t find on that specifically says it works on new gen too
It will work as long as you get the adapter for the controller
Why am I getting insane feedback with this setup once I plug the control in while playing for charging? It works when the control is wireless, but not plugged in?
Check pin comment there's a another cable you can buy to fix that.
@@PughsReview do I plug the loop isolator in the headset side of the mic/headset since it’s only an audio jack? Thanks!

i can’t find that exact splitter so will any 3.5 mm splitter work?
The one linked will work for sure. 🙂
Hey I’m having issues with my party chat ? How can I fix it?
Unlink twitch from you console and telling it I have a pinned comment in the update how to stream with xbox on how to do it.
So with this info in mind, how could I go about recording self, party and game audio using a capture card? I use the evga xr1 pro. I’m thinking of using some sort of 3 way aux cable that way one side goes to the controller, the other goes to the mic snd the last one goes to the capture card?
You will need to get a chat link cable run it as well to the card then it will capture in game audio as well
is there any audio settings you have to change on your xbox series x? i bought the cables and still not working

Yes

do you have to use a headset? i can't set the audio to come out the tv speakers? this is so jank. on my ps5 i just plugged in my mic and i could separately choose where i want my mic to come from and where i want the audio out to come from. i have some nice hi fi headphones i like to use (not a headset) but sometimes i like to have the audio out my tv speakers.
Yes once you plug into the controller audio is transferred through the controller.
Hi first of all thank you so much for the info!, i just have a question, does it work with wireless headsets? cause i have the steelseries 9 Xbox version and as soon as i turn them on they will be connected to my xbox without any problem and i would really like to keep using them cause they are really comfortable in that way, thank you!
No this unfortunately has to be wired since you pulling all sound through the controller
Don’t believe this is true because wireless headsets retrieve their audio through the usb on the xbox and you can plug a headset into your controller and the Bluetooth headset with still receive playback
Hello I have the same headset and I’m trying to do this😂. I just really need to know if you tried this with your steel series 9X, and if it worked????? let me know ASAP. Thank you so much. Happy Thanksgiving.
Can u use wireless headphones on your spiltter
I am not sure if the transponder for the wireless headphone is a 3.5 then maybe good question if you try it and it works let us know plz.

This is awesome but what if your mic has a usb plug instead of the "jack" style plug like you are showing. Is there a splitter that is usb on one end and jack style on the other?
it needs to have both the usb you plug into the usb ports and the jack he explained
I have everything as shown in the video even the same headset but there is not audio coming out of the mic into the party.
Couple of things make sure you are not muted in settings and if not it has to be either the controller or one of the components.
Does this work for Xbox 360 too? I want to replay my guitar hero but my mic is gone :(
I have a 360 I will have to test it soon I heard a rumor 360 was plug and play

What do I do when it just stops working in party chat and game chat
THANK YOU
Thank you for the video, one question though..Do you need to use headphones for this setup to work? i Just need the microphone audio but i dont need to hear via headphones
Once you hook up anything to the controller it automatically switches to that audio so yea you will need a headset.
Every one of my friends on Xbox party chat say the echo is really bad and idea how to fix that?
Could I just plug a 3,5mm mic into the mic part of the splitter?
From my understanding it will not work I've only one account from someone saying that work for them. You could always try it and see tho.
