It's literally out of Microsoft's stupid greed and nothing more. The microphone's that work are all "Xbox Officially Licensed." It annoys me because PS5 works with most UAC devices, and that includes both USB microphones, USB audio interfaces, and USB headsets. It's basically Xbox just absolutely gatekeeping for no reason.

As far as I am aware, maybe im worng, if you have a third party controller the splitter will work directly on the controller. Its only with the XBOX official controllers that you would need the adapter.

My Xbox is not picking up my mic. Is that because I’m using a 2 ring splitter and not a 3 ring? Also I have a 3.5mm microphone jack into a 6.35mm jack adapter for my condenser mic to be able to plug in the 6.35mm port. Could that be an issue as well?
