One of the things I love more about the Xbox Series S/X is the Quick Resume feature which allows you to switch between a set of games without closing them, so the next time you open them, you're in the same spot as were you left the game. It makes gaming on the Xbox more seamless imo. That and the initial setup for it can be made exclusively on your phone so you can get everything done more quickly.

I don't use it, it lags other games and I exclusively play Fallout and MLB the show, which makes the stability of those games much worse.
It fails frequently on me. But the idea is nice

Well edited, well explained & well researched. I'm 54yr old, I've built many P.C systems over the years from windows 95 onwards up to windows 10. Your description & theory etc are spot on. They've allowed me to decide my next step on gaming consoles for the furure without feeling disappointed. Iv'e always opted for xbox probably due to the m-soft connection regarding my P.C past.
I do play the odd game here & there. Without a p.c you make it easier for people like me to purchase a plug n play console without all the extras required otherwise. keep up all the good work. From me here in auld bonny Scotland. Keep up the good work lad. 👍

As a person who started with an Xbox 360 and had Xbox one s for about 7 years. Its safe to say that the consoles last a very long time. I recently just upgraded the Xbox to the series S and couldn't be any happier

the REALLY cool thing about the One S was the fact that you also had the choice for an all digital version as well without the disk drive. we used it mainly for streaming movies but when we did use it for gaming we didn't require a lot of power since the only game my entire family really played was Stardew Valley. So it was PERFECT.

I loved gens consoles. my friend, maybe 2018, had a 360 oneS and ps4. I had a ton of fun on that xbox one s. Almost bought one for myself in 2019 but i went down the pc route instead and im happy since next gen released a year later. Anyways, playing gta and halo on his xbox are some of my biggest core memories. As well as playing Bo2 on his 360 with his little brother. Those were just great times. Only used the ps4 once, but had a lot of fun playing god of war that day.
Anyone remember when Netflix had party mode?? Me and the random friends I made on 360 would all go on Netflix together and watch funny shows. They used yours and your friends avatars and made it seem like we were at the theatre! It was actually pretty dope

You forgot the mention that the Series S can run a lot of games at 1440p too! I can play a surprising amount of games at 1440p 120fps (or some number around that) with no problem.
It really is still good for gaming; but I definitely thought of it being an entertainment machine when I got it too.

@@pommy117 Lucky? I don’t know. I’ve seen it in action in DOOM and it looks good. I maybe should’ve mentioned that it actually has an “optimized” FPS type of thing in most games, and only provides a full boost in some games, but when I physically display the framerate in game it says 120fps, some number around that area, or some number higher than 60fps.
There’s still a noticeable boost either way, and you’re not gonna notice it not being exactly 120fps in game unless you really pay attention.
My point is that it still provides a significant framerate boost
@@MrBirchieBirch Yeah, I’ve heard good things about it’s emulation capabilities. I usually just use my PC for that but I could absolutely see how someone without a PC could get some good emulation out of it!
Make sure to remove the clock battery from the OG Xbox. Also make sure you don’t get the red ring of death!

The reason i did this is because i was looking too watch a section of one console and one console only, The Xbox 360, and many people do that too, they wanna watch one particular section so thats why i put timestamps so they can easily accses the section instead of looking for it and it taking 5 minutes.
The first console I ever owned was a 360 E and I remember how much I used to love it
I did have to share it with my cousins and siblings but I still absolutely loved it

I think the original Xbox has my favourite UI of any console ever. It is so incredibly committed to feeling like this piece of alien tech with its startup animation of some unknown green substance in a test tube, to the all-green menu elements, even down to the ambient noises in the main menu which sound like the console is intercepting unintelligible signals from an unknown source. It is the most aggressively early-2000's console UI ever, and I absolutely love it for that.

Sick video but there are some little things:
6:01 that was done by Doom, Quake and CS. First one created the concept of online fps, 2nd popularized it into a full an iconic "sport", while CS allowed the same to significantly weaker players which increases the player base even further
9:04 pretty sure that Dreamcast/Saturn, WiiU and PSVita take the crown here. Due to things you mention later Xbox One had a pretty decent run, while the 3 I mentioned are full on failures that either killed the company, or shifted their focus onto completely different things
11:00 funnily enough both One and PS4 lostnto PC build for the same price, since none of the consoles could actually run games in 1080p (instead theyvused either upscaling or dynamic resolution), while equivalent PC did quite a bit better in this department. Gtx950 was more powerful than build-in gpu's of consoles and only lost its relevancy due to unsupported tech, while their cpu's were complete trash that lost even to weaker AMD Fx's and limited the decent gpu's inside a lot
15:03 the situation here is similar to original One with 1080p. OneX at very best ran games on QHD and IIRC only really light games achieved 4K. That ain't surprising considering how even current RTX 60-70 level gpu's can't handle 4K and rely on DLSS instead
18:19 yeah as I said since One X doesn't actually run anything in 4K actual difference between it and Series S is either very little or the 2nd one is better. Ah also practicaly no game on Series S has ray tracing and even SeX RT is pretty mid (just like PS5)
18:50 also no. Every modern AAA completely loses to TF2 in movement and only indie games are actually comparable. No need to mention Quake and UT
I used the original xbox for about 15 years and I always loved it. My father (who got the console) thought that there was no point in replacing something that already worked. It eventually started having problems and we upgraded, but I still miss the old one. It was always such a joy to play with my brother.

The problem I have with xbox now is that the RUclips app unsyncs it self audio and video wise and you either have to pause the video for it to catch back up or turn off and on your tv for it to sync up and apparently it's been an issue with RUclips on the Xbox One for years.

It is also important to mention that while getting smaller and including the power supply, the Xbox One S was also slightly faster than the original, allowing it to run certain games and watch video at 4K.
The One X could play games in better quality too.

I've owned Xbox since the first. I have One-S right now, love it, no plans to upgrade. And I use it for 99% entertainment. And even ten years later this machine is still awesome.

Just so any youngsters watching know, the 360 was NOT the beginning of true online competitive gaming... As any PC gamer playing Unreal Tournament or Quake arena from the late 90s will know.
For me personally, it was 1999 where online competitive really blew up, others may remember it being even earlier. But at the very very latest, COD, Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honour all came way before the 360, and were absolutely massive online.
Definitely when online 'console' gaming blew up though, despite previous attempts from both Xbox and the PS2.
Fun Random Fact: Microsoft has never beaten Sony on global console sales numbers in any generation. However, the 360 came closest, being less than just 2 million units behind the PS3 all said and done. Numbers made even more impressive when you factor in Sony's stranglehold over the Japanese market, where Xbox just doesn't sell. Take Japan out of the equation and Xbox 360 shifted more units over the rest of the world than PS3... It's been downhill since then though, with both recent generations seeing Xbox struggle to sell even half as many units as Playstation globally.
14:10 .. yes and no. It has Bloutooth, but not for a "longer range" but only to connect to other devices like PC or a phone. You can switch between Xbox protocol and bluetooth by doubleclick the connect button at the top.
15:05 I feel like I'm the only one noticing this. In the chart there's an original Xbox where a 360 should go and a fat PS2 where the original Xbox should go lol. Other than that fantastic video. It really puts things into perspective and brings back good memories!

As someone who's owned each generation from the original Xbox to the XSX I love this break down of them all. I would have also mentioned local LAN parties with the original Xbox. It was the only way to play multi-player with more than 4 people. If I remeber correctly you could hook 4 Xbox consoles together and on 4 Tv's play with 16 people at one time.

I really wish xbox did something new with their UI and their controller for their newest generation. I always look forward to a new controller and UI with a generation change, led to me feeling like there wasnt much of a change, except hardware buffs.

Series S runs at 1440p 120, depending on the game it can go down to 30-60 fps
Since recently becoming a PC gamer, I've sort of left my Xbox One S to my brother and forgot about it but watching this video just reminded me that if my parents didn't get me that One S for my birthday in 2017, I would have never become a gamer. The years I spent on that thing playing in my living room created a bond with it that whenever I'm told the new Playstation is better than the Xbox in every conceivable way, will make me always side with the Xbox.

I grew up on xbox 360 kinect - my first console when I was 4. I also had a dsi, so i never really considered myself an xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo gamer. now i'm older, i'm a pc gamer, but i still play my 360 sometimes

I never owned an xbox but had friends back in primary school who did and every time it booted up it was just the coolest thing ever. PS2 sounds are still the most nostalgic to me but playing burnout or halo 4 player co op with my primary school mate and 2 brothers of his was the coolest thing ever back then.

The controller that Arun shows of for the original Xbox is a revised controller called Controller S.

I do doubt some of the facts that you were saying such as the Xbox One being 125x better than the original Xbox. I wonder how you came to that conclusion. Even with that said, this was just a joy to watch and I happen to be super into the Xbox lately. I didn't even know there were all those version of the 360!

Sony’s dominance in the gaming industry was something of a masterstroke in how they studied the competition and created a brand that is so iconic nowadays. I’ve never owned an Xbox, I’ve always been a PlayStation and Nintendo kinda guy, but when I remember playing Halo on my friend’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One, I’m honestly intrigued by what Microsoft has been able to accomplish with the Xbox brand. They had the capital backing to make risks of course, but the level of creativity shown off across the generation here is so incredibly cool to see. Even if Xbox doesn’t have the killer AAA IPs that we know from PlayStation (both first and third party releases), you can see how people can resonate with Xbox as a brand, but also as their personal choice for gaming with friends, and I think the latter is what people remember most, the idea of coming home to play with your best mates at school, work, etc.
What killer games ps released exclusive on ps4/ps5 after GOW 2018 none god of war rangnrok , horizon 2 demon souls ... etc copy paste of same shit before 2018 even sony lost it touch last 4 years gaming is dead these days only very less games and im not a nintendo fan
@@GFE. Returnal was a good game. Ratchet and Clank was very good and fun as well, so was the Astro Robot included game although not many hours long. Another game i loved was Kena the Bridge of Spirits. Other than that as you said it the usual suspects like Spiderman, God of War and Horizon.
Gran Turismo 7 is top notch at what it does and is now becoming a full killer app with PSVR2.
There was also the Last of US 2 that was after 2018 i believe but i don't know if it's considered a great game or not.
Although i don't know how you can say "same shit" exactly when Horizon, Spider Man are basically the second title and the other not even that.

By in large the thing I miss most about older generation games and consoles was the simple task of just popping in a game, and playing. No downloads, no dependence on a network or signing in. Just buy, or RENT, and play. Easy.

My favorite has been the original xBox, it was the most problem free setup. HDD was more than enough for the games and the saves. I miss that console.

For those wondering there were 3 bundles of the OG xbox: you had your bundle that is shown here on the video, you had your Xbox essentials bundle with Xbox live for 3 months with Mech Assault, and you had a halo 2 bundle.
One thing about the 360 is the disc drive gets stuck very often

Don't know you or your channel. Obvious algorithm's for Xbox led me here. This video was the epitome of honest jealousy and happiness. I have owned every Xbox sans the Series S/X. I have had the pleasure of opening each one. I have felt all these emotions over 22 years.
