I was made to eat liver in the 1950s and hated it. I started absolutely loving it in my 20's and now at 66, it is one of my favorite meals...liver and onions with mashed potatoes and gravy!...so delicious! Thanks so much for sharing this healthy and great recipe! Liver is the very best way to get your B vitamins!!

I followed your recipe except I didn’t have self rising flour so I used all purpose but made sure to cook that raw flour off good! It was Delicious and my friend loved it! I add soy sauce to my gravy at times as well if I don't have enough "seasoning" on the bottom of my pan to give me the color I wanted. Soy sauce gives you a 2 for 1 with the color and sodium.
I would add soy sauce also -- and instead of water, I'd use beef broth if I had it in the pantry. To top it off, sprinkle lemon juice to lift up and counter the saltiness. Great recipe (love the gravy). Mom's visiting in SF Bay Area and I will make it tomorrow night. Thank you for sharing Ms Mae!

Mrs mae Mae's my dad passed in 1987 and he was country he use to cook this dish with grits. He also cook chuck steak by cutting it up and fried it and making a onion gravy and putting the steak into the gravy over white rice with some homemade biscuit dough cooked in a cast iron skillet. Where my mom would make biscuit in a cake pan. He made his in a skillet it look like a huge pancake. He made when he would fried chicken too.

Man Granny could mess with some liver. Unfortunately my Mom’s not only didn’t like it which is probably why she didn’t cook it well. I found this video because I want to make it for dinner, but also looking for some new tips. I eliminate so much flour by placing the liver in the skillet and then adding water. The flour on the liver helps to thicken the sauce. I will attempt to work the “Magic” with this new technique. I must admit that it does look better than mines. I love liver and onions. Mom would make it at least 3 times a month. Always used calf's liver. Never tried the self rising flour on it. Will next time I make some as I am the only one thst likes it! I have ALWAYS loved this meal. Momma would fix it with some homemade mashed potatoes and skillet fried corn. I still ask her to make me it to this day. Doesn't matter how good I can cook, nothing beats my momma's home cooking.

I always like to add half a cup of canned milk ( we call cream ) with the water for the gravy. Lots of blk pepper.yumo!!!! Extra creamy gravy ❤

Looks so good!!! I use Steak seasoning on my liver as well with the onion and garlic powder. And I use a little soy sauce in my gravy!!!!
I add soy sauce to my gravy at times as well if I don't have enough "seasoning" on the bottom of my pan to give me the color I wanted. Soy sauce gives you a 2 for 1 with the color and sodium.
I would add soy sauce also -- and instead of water, I'd use beef broth if I had it in the pantry. To top it off, sprinkle lemon juice to lift up and counter the saltiness. Great recipe (love the gravy). Mom's visiting in SF Bay Area and I will make it tomorrow night. Thank you for sharing Ms Mae!

Mrs mae Mae's my dad passed in 1987 and he was country he use to cook this dish with grits. He also cook chuck steak by cutting it up and fried it and making a onion gravy and putting the steak into the gravy over white rice with some homemade biscuit dough cooked in a cast iron skillet. Where my mom would make biscuit in a cake pan. He made his in a skillet it look like a huge pancake. He made when he would fried chicken too.

I absolutely love liver and onions, but my mom used to add milk for a creamed gravy. I am going to try out your recipe because it looks glossy and tantalizingly delicious.
Man Granny could mess with some liver. Unfortunately my Mom’s not only didn’t like it which is probably why she didn’t cook it well. I found this video because I want to make it for dinner, but also looking for some new tips. I eliminate so much flour by placing the liver in the skillet and then adding water. The flour on the liver helps to thicken the sauce. I will attempt to work the “Magic” with this new technique. I must admit that it does look better than mines. Thanks for the video and thanks to all The Grannies for sharing the Love and feeding us well. I’m glad she used beef and not Schwein too.

I love liver and onions. Mom would make it at least 3 times a month. Always used calf's liver. Never tried the self rising flour on it. Will next time I make some as I am the only one thst likes it! Liver is so different now.... You got to handle it half frozen to keep it from tearing to pieces, but it's still good 😋 thanks for watching 💞🙏🏾

I have ALWAYS loved this meal. Momma would fix it with some homemade mashed potatoes and skillet fried corn. I still ask her to make me it to this day. Doesn't matter how good I can cook, nothing beats my momma's home cooking.
