Looks so good! I’ve always loved liver. My mom fried bacon first, then used the grease to fry the liver and onions. She also dragged the liver in flour, so it ended with a sort of gravy. Sooooo yummy! I tell my grandkids that Worcestershire sauce … is Wash Your Sister Sauce. They think it’s funny.
I made this exactly as you said. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! The Worcestershire sauce and the white wine vinegar really gave it nice little added spark of flavor.
I grew up eating venison liver, beef and chicken livers too. I moved to the East Coast where they add bacon to their fried liver amd onions.. yummy! My favorite way to eat beef liver is fried rare with salt, pepper and oregano chopped, and added on top of a salad with homemade vinegarette. A bit of raw liver blended with tomato juice, celery, onion, herbs, salt and hot sauce make a rasty drink.

Sometimes I’d eat it a couple of times a week. I would put in inside a rolls and eat it like that sometimes. It was crazy to me but I couldn’t stop craving it. Also Chicken livers. ❤

Great video - one of my favourites. For anyone who might be interested, there are lots of places in the UK that were once Roman colonies and they have the suffix '...cester' such as Leicester and Worcester. The 'ces' bit is not pronounced so Leicester becomes 'Lester' and Worcester becomes 'Wuster'. The 'Shire' suffix as in 'Worcestershire' indicates a county rather than a city and the pronunciation of 'Shire' is something like 'Shur'. So - Worcestershire becomes 'Wustershur'. Or something like that. In England we just refer to the sauce as 'Wuster sauce'. Again greetings to friends in the US - God bless.
Looks delicious. Add a Tablespoon of of baking soda into milk to soak the beef liver and tender the liver . You should add a bit of cooking wine into beef liver to cook will make it taste more delicious. Thank you for sharing. 😁😁🥰🥰.
Liver is one of the most tender parts of an animal. Do you really need to tenderise it? I never have. My granny could eat liver, even with her lack of teeth. Are you eating it with a straw?
Nice video and great recipe. Solves my issues with liver and onion recipes; texture and smell. Ended up with a super tender, saucy dish that we loved. I did dust the onions for a little more gravy feel. Put on some Jasmine rice. Got some anemia going on so this is an easy 28% per serving.
I was the only one of my cousins who loved the liver as a child. Beef or chicken. My Mother made it so good that it would melt in your mouth. More for me!😂
I'm about as British as a British person can be and have eaten and loved liver for years but always cooked it British style, bland LOL. Never used garlic before, tried it and loved it. I might even push it and be daring and put some chilli and parsley in it!
My grandma made liver with lots and lots of onions banana peppers it was delicious. She said she learned how to prepare it from a Chinese employer in Mexico .
When I was a poor university student in Canada in the 1980s, beef liver was the least expensive among the meats. So I ate mostly macaroni with beef liver and fried onions. Back then there was no time nor wine but the meals were delicious. Thanks for the memory!
U love beef liver with bacon onions smothered in a nice gravy. My ex mother in law taught me to cook this the old country southern way. That woman taught me to cook many southern dishes. I truly miss and loved her. RIP mama you were the absolute best. I should have spent more time with you before you left this earth. 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤
I cut and rolled my liver in flour with mixed herbs, salt and an Oxo cube. Fried for 3-4 minutes, turn gas low and add onions, NO garlic. Remove from pan, keep warm. Mash some cooked potatoes with butter. Make some gravy in the pan. Serve and eat. Almost any green vegetables go well....
For a real treat add a tablespoon of curry powder when seasoning the liver. I got that idea from a Nigerian cooking show (they also soak the liver in milk before cooking it). Now my kids will have it cooked no other way.
My wife makes Liver and onions, and we have it quite often just like my mother used to make when I was young, but never used milk my wife just washes it clean under the tap but the one I like is chicken liver very nice, and she always uses lard to cook it in the pan. Thanks for the video.
Jumping in immediately at the deep end eh ? 😁 I'd have advised lamb's liver to someone new at the dish, or maybe pig's liver. They taste less strong than cow's liver.
Fabulous! A perennial favourite here in Britain, too. In lieu of milk, I use salty water. In the UK, liver and onions, often with streaky bacon, is served on bed of mashed potato with a thick, reduced onion gravy, and greens. I ate it in a high class restaurant recently. My favourite is ox or calf's liver. We say _wooh'st'shuh_ sauce, or just _wooh'stuh_ sauce. See the wiki.
Awesome Video to learn from. Thank you! - Even though I don't eat liver and onions, I have a friend that does and I would like to make this for him. Little tip that I do love is Worcestershire Sauce. If you can say "WAR or WUR" you are good... WUR-STA-SURE * You are now a pro... God Bless and thank you for teaching me this method of Liver and Onions. Hope you can help me with Egg Drop Soup too. lol
Nice recipe. I also like the vinegar (I use balsamic) but any wine vinegar cuts through the fattiness nicely. I'm from Gloucestershire in England, it's the southern neighbour of Worcestershire. We pronounce Gloucester / Gloucestershire "Gloster" and "Glostersher" respectively, (or Glostersheer, but never Glostershire). Likewise, Worcestershire = "Woostersher ". Only the Americans call the sauce Worcestershire Sauce. We call it Wooster Sauce, irrespective of what it says on the bottle 😅 (Don't be misled by your American viewers, the other chap from the UK also got it right😊).
Thank you for mentioning Balsamic vinegar~ Great idea. My dad is from London & he intoduced my 🇨🇦 mom to British condiments like Worcestershire sauce, H.P. Sauce, Mint Jelly, et cetera…I use only the authentic brands from U.K. as the generic knock offs in Canada couldn’t possibly taste the same & why be dissapoinnted. Yes, the U.K. Brands cost more, but some things I will NOT sacrifice. Cheers.
Just made this dish using your recipe and tips, and I'm so pleased! Thank you!! The sauce came together even better than I had expected, especially with the white wine vinegar 👍👏
I do everything you do, but, I put my flour in a bag add liver shake real well..comes out nicely coated with olive oil..I pre cook bacon pieces and add last, buy liver at health food store..great gradmas recipe, we ate it once a week..intensity good for you .
Vinegar is the way to go. We (Greeks) also had this wtih lemon on top after it's cooked in place of vinegar. Both of these acids cut down through the fat and take away the gaminess. For me I would crust up a nice hero loaf and spoon this amazingness in there, top it with some smoked provolone, and throw it under the broiler. Splash some mustard in between and fold it up for a hero like you never had! Enjoy! Thank you for a great video on an inexpensive and super nutritional dish! PS: Lets not forget about the antiseptic, and antibiotic value of onions!
This is really good! I combined it with a part of an old German recipe ("Berliner Leber") and added two thick slices of an apple to the onions. The fruity sourness of the half molten apple fits perfectly. As a side, I had plain fried rice... Try it!
Asparagus goes really well with liver and onions too. I lay out the spears on a microwaveable plate and add a pinch of salt and a bold Italian dressing. Microwave for 2 minutes, or till just tender.
Liver is really good with something bitter. In Brazil we have scarlet eggplant that is perfect to add like you did with the onions (I use both in my recipe). You should try with (normal) eggplant or any other thing to add some bitter.. it's really nice.
Organ meats ARE where the most dense vitamins & minerals are found. Pass historical generations feasted upon Organ meats. The heart, liver, Kidneys, all the parts of the endocrine system were highly valued As a food source. Because of the strong gamey taste many times these meats were made into sausage, or blended with muscle meats which are lower nutritional quality but having milder taste.
@4:50 If you add in a little cornstarch when seasoning your liver you will get a better texture, More akin to stir fry. I also like using fresh basil as a finishing herb, It helps balance out the strong flavor of the liver.

I have fond liver memories too!
U must be very healthy liver is a powerful superfood
U love beef liver with bacon onions smothered in a nice gravy. My ex mother in law taught me to cook this the old country southern way. That woman taught me to cook many southern dishes. I truly miss and loved her. RIP mama you were the absolute best. I should have spent more time with you before you left this earth. 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤
Make that dish! Every time you make it, she lives again but just for a moment when you take that first bite. 😇
Thanks!
🥹🙏
Hi man! I've just tried to cook liver this way and it's absolutely incredible! The best liver dish I ever tried! Thank you for sharing the receipt
Glad you enjoy it! ❤️
We make liver and onions with flour and lots of butter and my family loves it, including the kids
😊
Lambs liver onions mashed potatoes marrofat peas and rich onion gravey I have been makig this meal for many years. A good filling meal.
😋
Looks really good , I'm going to try it , not had it for years. I'm from UK so it's pronounced ( wooster sauce ) we like to complicate stuff
Absolutely one of my favourite dishes..and yes it is super healthy...love your presentation..it looks YUMMY...watching you from South Africa 🇿🇦
Cheers from the US! Thanks so much! 🙏😁
Looks so good. My mom did this, she also floured the chunks and as they cooked they made gravy.
I’ll have to try that! Sounds like a great flavor for the liver!
Curry powder the best ❤
My wife makes Liver and onions, and we have it quite often just like my mother used to make when I was young, but never used milk my wife just washes it clean under the tap but the one I like is chicken liver very nice, and she always uses lard to cook it in the pan. Thanks for the video.
You’re a lucky man Bob! My best to your dear wife!
I have low ferritin, so I'm definitely gonna try this. Looks great!! And thank you for not saying "beauuuuutiful" while sharing this recipe...
You are so welcome! 🤗
In my early cooking years, we dredged the liver in flour, and then French dressing. Cooked it on a flat-top griddle. Delicious. Good eats
😋
Love this! Can’t wait to try. I just bought beef liver today for the first time and never eaten it in my life so I’m looking forward to it.
Hope you enjoy! I eat it a few times a week and love it.
Jumping in immediately at the deep end eh ? 😁
I'd have advised lamb's liver to someone new at the dish, or maybe pig's liver. They taste less strong than cow's liver.
@@ChefAngehow long will it keep in the fridge?
Very well explained and presented thanks chef
You are most welcome 🙏
'Wooshtersher", but Richard Pryor simply called it 'What-this-here" sauce, and it works for me and most Limeys within earshot!
😋
Growing up we used to eat liver quite often. However, we seasoned but never salted until was cooked. Was believed to make the liver tender.
Hmmm I’ll have to try that out in the future
Thank you for this appreciated tip. Cheers. 🇨🇦
Love liver and onions. Best meat to eat
It’s a treat every time! ❤️
Hope you can help me with Egg Drop Soup too. lol
I’ll do an egg drop soup recipe soon! One of my favorites. Thanks for your comment! 🙏
I like the idea to add vinegar and Worcestershire sauce.
I use to eat the liver with onions, bell peppers (green+red) and mushrooms = Miam! 😊
Big flavor from those two pantry items! I do like the mushrooms idea. I’ll have to try that next time in make this dish. Thanks!
Looks tasty and healthy.
I need to try this.
Thanks, Chef.❤
I ate this when I was a kid. I loved it.
I did too! So good!
We call it Wooster Sauce, irrespective of what it says on the bottle 😅
(Don't be misled by your American viewers, the other chap from the UK also got it right😊).
Wooster it is mate! Cheers!
Cheers.
As an American, I pronounce it worse ta sure.
I like red cabbage cooked in with the onions and green bell peppers.
My favorite meal....yum!
Same here!
Love liver. Just like how mom used to make it but she added capsicum strips with it. Out to find some liver yum.
@@jimalvir5866 I find most supermarkets have it and it’s usually super fresh!
Just made this dish using your recipe and tips, and I'm so pleased! Thank you!! The sauce came together even better than I had expected, especially with the white wine vinegar 👍👏
Wonderful! 😁
Looks absolutely delicious. Will be trying it out tomorrow.
Looks amazing…..going to try this…thank you, since I am low on iron!
Worchestershire is pronounced. Wor’ ches-shir . That simple. Your welcome. I have subscribed and your my favorite sheaf.
Thank you so much my friend!
its pronounced wor..chester, shire. not sheer at the end, shiiiiirrrre
@@ramjet7943not if you're British and it's a British word
Sheaf is pounced chef
Hahahaha
Love liver and onions…excellent for iron source … Woost a sha sauce… great recipe - thanks!
I went with Wuss Ter Shur 😂
I like liver and onion. I think most people who say they don’t like liver and onions are not cooking it right or they haven’t had them.
Same! This is one of my favorite things to eat.
This looks great chef. Thank you so much!
My pleasure 😁
😋
This is really good! I combined it with a part of an old German recipe ("Berliner Leber") and added two thick slices of an apple to the onions. The fruity sourness of the half molten apple fits perfectly. As a side, I had plain fried rice... Try it!
Excellent, a must try. Thank you Chef Ange.
Hope you enjoy! Thank you! 🙏
Asparagus goes really well with liver and onions too. I lay out the spears on a microwaveable plate and add a pinch of salt and a bold Italian dressing. Microwave for 2 minutes, or till just tender.
That’s sounds super quick!
Steam them.
Liver onion bacon and tomato absolutely delicious.l miss my mom’s cooking 😢
Liver is really good with something bitter. In Brazil we have scarlet eggplant that is perfect to add like you did with the onions (I use both in my recipe). You should try with (normal) eggplant or any other thing to add some bitter.. it's really nice.
Looks simple and delicious. Gonna try this method tonight!
My Mom loved liver and onions and so do I. Thank you for the memory and the simple and delicious recipe. 😋
Our pleasure!
My dad was the same way 🥲
This is the way I have alwise ate this dish .it's really good thanks for your time to show what everyone is missing.

If you add in a little cornstarch when seasoning your liver you will get a better texture, More akin to stir fry. I also like using fresh basil as a finishing herb, It helps balance out the strong flavor of the liver.
From dear old blighty, the correct pronunciation is, "Wooster-shire!" God bless America. 🇬🇧🇺🇲
South african.... We call it woestersous
Very Professional Presentation!!!!!👍😁
Thank you! 😃
