I have found ‘real world’ experience (in combination with the advice of my Dr and Consultant Psychologist) to be invaluable! I think it’s easier to relate to someone who is having the same issues as you, which professionals often can’t..

    I’m on 30mg, 15/20 in the afternoon as I crash quite early. Different strokes for different folks of course. But the actual feeling I get is I feel awake not focused and not motivated and still suffer with major procrastination. Do you think that would point to towards asking for an increase? Also do you get a slight boost in better mood? I did get a slight boost in happiness as I would expect from an increase in dopamine but now nothing really. (36 diagnosed couple months ago) Really over thinking about it all so any help would be massively appreciated!

    • @ollieedward643
      @ollieedward643  3 года назад

      That’s a tough one.. need some more info really! Do you take regular exercise? How is your sleep? (How much and the quality)
      You’re right, that dopamine hit that you get when you increase does make a difference to your mood - but you should never expect that feeling to last. I have noticed an overall increase in mood since starting meds due to the fact that I now have energy to socialise and try new things!

    I am on 20mg of Adderall XR and 150mg of Buproprion XL. Doc said combining the 2 works better and I am noticing a difference than just Adderall alone. Much calmer. Will be bumped up to 300mg of Buproprion XL.

    4 days ago I got prescribed vyvanse, I have really bad adhd to the point where I constantly space out, forget to do thing, and lose my focus.i really do notice myself focusing better, and being more social and I love it. I got a 20mg dosage and I feel like it’s just not strong enough, is this because of how small the dosage is and I need a higher dosage like 40 mg, or is vyvanse not for me?

    • @ollieedward643
      @ollieedward643  3 года назад +1

      Hey man. You’ve said you have noticed yourself focusing better and being more social - is that not what you want the Vyvanse to do?
      It’s always best to be on the lowest dose that provides good results (hence the titration) so give it another 3/4 days and see how you’re getting on. If at that point you think you need a higher dose, bring that up with your doc 👍

    I'm glad 50mg seems more effective for you. I've been on 30mg for the last month but about to start on 40mg for the next month (I'm starting to think I should have gone up to 50mg now). I do find 30mg quite effective but it certainly tails off around mid afternoon of the work day so by the time I get home I'm pretty unmotivated but still manage to force myself to do a few bits and pieces but with a foggy ADD brain. As I'm still in the titration process I'm still paying for my meds but I've agreed shared care with my new GP (last GP refused and questioned the validity of my private diagnosis so I sacked them off) so once I'm settled on it then NHS will cover the costs. I currently buy the meds at the Morrison's pharmacy and just paid £72 for 28 days worth of 40mg. I think they come in the cheapest. Apparently ASDA pharmacies do them cheap too. Good luck with the titration process and thanks for making this content.

    • @Samuel-er6td
      @Samuel-er6td 3 года назад +1

      While Dexedrine is an amphetamine, it's not the generic version of Vyvanse.
      First Vyvance is only sold name brand.
      Vyvance is a Lisdex molecule attached to amphetamine. Lisdexamphetamine
      Dexedrine is Dextroamphetamine.
      Dexedrine works similar, as yes it is an amphetamine rather than a methylphenidate stimulant, but the whole absorption process is much different. Even the Extended release doesn't feel the same.
      Dexedrine is a strong version of adderall,
      Adderall is Dextroamphetamine and Levoamphetamine,
      Dexedrine only has the Dextroamphetamine which is the stronger part of adderall.

    Why are you not getting your medication via the NHS with the set prescription charge?

    • @ollieedward643

      Because I’m not yet on a ‘shared care’ agreement with my GP, Glenn. I hopefully will be soon.

      I am also from N.Ireland and got shared care straight away from private, really should be same for whole UK. It would be worth the money for me if I had to pay even.

      Yes. I have a 'shared care' plan now where i have annual check-ins with the clinician who diagnosed me, but my prescriptions are through the NHS - at NHS cost.

    Why are you paying for it? It should be on the NHS surely?

      It can be.. but its an extremely long process taking several years (just to be assessed) with no guarantee of being treatment
