    Good incites, thank you. Start this month after first triage session, looking forward to the results. I’m 51 and recently privately diagnosed, so your comments on taking the medication for the rest of your life are normal. You’re a lot younger than me so of course you’ll be concerned. But struggling to this age [bloody exhausting] I welcome the medication, and my advise is stay fit and healthy, avoid alcohol and shit processed food and you’ll have a great life!

    … don’t get into the anxiety of worrying about tolerance and dependence. It can really just ruin the whole helpful experience of ADHD medication. I’ve noticed so many people have those thoughts and are scared of losing the effect of the medication or of being a functional person due to only a pill.
    But hey, most of us managed life to this point (exhausting) and now we finally get some support! Try to take it as it is as long as it might last - cause it’s a positive experience for once!

Thank you. I couldn’t believe it when I payed £75 at the chemist yesterday! And yes I agree with having the ‘holidays’ even a few days a day or two off works for me, will keep experimenting. • @kh2716
      @kh2716 Год назад

      It's a classic misconception that increasing ADHD doses will improve the influence of a stimulant, but it can make the ADHD symptoms worse in some cases. People are often too quick to increase the dosage rather than looking at sleep, hydration and exercise. You should try lowering the dosage and see if that helps.

    Thanks for this. I've been on 20mg for 2 weeks now. Don't feel like I could go higher as it already affects my sleep but I find it helps concentration but not task switching/ zoning out. I still switch all the time and then concentrate harder on the task I shouldn't have switched to! Tou had a really fast nhs handover. My expectations in Manchester have been set for 6 months to a year before they will accept a shared care plan. The waiting list for NHS assessment was 2- 3 years hence I went private. Whilst I felt like nothing really happened to me with methylphenidate (medikinet), the first day of elvanse adult i finally had the "medicated" experience so many youtubers spoke about.. A clear head, focus, no rushing thoughts of worry, anxiety and ideas... Oh, and thirst/sweat lol. But it's also summer. Sooo. I had work that day, and my job is pretty redundant. Type in data, interpret that data, write a report. I work in psychological diagnostics (which is how I discovered my adhd btw). So like the least stimulating, and a very attention/concentration focused task. That never bothered me though since I work in a small office with very nice colleagues so we usually chat throughout the day, and when we don't feel like it, we each put in headphones and listen to audiobooks, podcasts whatever. That makes it enjoyable and I get to finish my reading goals, and my focus is better when multitasking. And today, after an hour of work, I suddenly realised that I wasn't listening to anything!! Hadn't started a podcast, was just working. All that was in my head was the numbers as I was typing each one in. I think that counts as a successful medical trial 😅 as I'm typing now I'm realising im having a hard type replying to my friend in the phone. Usually I do three, four things at once. I type, think, listen... Now I need to actively do one thing or the other. It's like I'm a horse wearing those flaps that cover their eyes so they can only look straight ahead. I hated being interrupted at work today because I was so scared of loosing my flow as I usually would, but I could go straight back in, no inner conflict bc of lack of dopamine. Whaaat. It wasn't like that on methylphenidate at all. I just felt normal, and jibbery with a racing heart 😅
    One thing you mentioned is that you felt eager to take on more work. That wasn't really the case for me w elvanse, quite the opposite. I am usually overzealous, taking on anything I want, not being able to say no. Today I JUST wanted to do one thing, and finish that thing. So that was amazing. But I am TIRED. My body has to get used to it I guess, and I'll try to update you all here how it goes the next few weeks. I have exams coming up and the library environment might be different to workplace. 😊

    • @kenzashenna
      @kenzashenna 8 месяцев назад

      You mentioned the price, whew. I paid 7 euros at the pharmacy today. They said without the general insurance all Germans have, it would have been 85 euros. I currently am within my family's insurance (your head of household pays for yours until you're 25 or work full time), but I'll have to switch to paying for my own next year. I'll pay 120€ then. Well worth it, knowing it covers the 85€ of elvanse. 😂

    You talked a bit about how the LisDex helps with you focus & attention (and energy) levels - but it doesn't really solve the issues you've had with task initiation. I wake up (usually around 6am), take my 40mg dose, and then go back to sleep for an hour to give it time to take effect. I then wake up ~7am and i will feel the effects all day to be honest - perhaps a slight dip in energy post-lunch. I have not found it to affect sleep whatsoever, possibly as i take it so early in the morning.
      I can't say ive noticed a difference in my workouts really.. although i am more likely to work out on any given day due to having more energy in general.
