  • There are literally HUNDREDS of quilts you could make using the ideas from this video and charm packs! This video will show you how to do simple sewing techniques to make a variety of blocks which can all be rearranged in many different ways to make so many different designs.
Remember the playground from when you were a kid and all the options you had for fun? That is how I felt about the projects in this video! I could play and play and never get bored! There were so many things to try and I didn't want the fun to end! I will definitely use this same process again to make quilts in the future, maybe even another video combined with more options...we shall see!
I love charm packs! Those cute little bundles of fabric lure me in and make me buy them.
Now I need to start using them before the collection I have overwhelms me! Fortunately there are hundreds of awesome projects that use charm packs to make anything from full sized quilts to baby quilts to bags and more! We will be using charm packs for all of the projects, but leftover fabrics from projects cut into 5" squares will also work! Most of the videos will include a sample made from a charm pack (or two or three or more) AND a sample made from leftovers from other projects.
Make your own charm packs! Cut up your stash and create your own charm packs using fabric you already own. One fat quarter can be cut up to make 12 five inch squares. A third of a yard of fabric can be cut up to make 16 five inch squares. When you finish a project, if you have leftover yardage, cut it into five inch squares and start a pile to use for future projects. Have some fun with your stash of fabrics!

This is why I watch your videos. So detailed and such creativity!!! The second I seen the last layout, I thought; that's the one and the next second; you say this is the one you picked. Now I can't wait to start this, good thing I live alone cause it's 11 at night and sometimes I just can't help myself. So Hello from Michigan, take care and God bless.

You could cut your layer cake into 4 charm packs if you want ×4 matching too. Do you have fat quarters to tackle next? Hunks of "cut into" yardage, or do you have left over strips from all your 108" backings? Could you try mega size log cabin quilts, with one block, or only 4? They could filter down into your boxes if you cut them into pre-cut sizes too? If you made some design boards, you could stack up sizes as you go on separate boards. You have "stick to it-ivness". Those sorted 2 1/2" boxes were a huge resource at the start. Well done with taming all of that, it looks much more manageable now, and you will get these charm packs under control too. Do you ever make mug rug and bowl cosy sets out of charm squares, to sell in your shop? How about a 4-patch rug with mini and alt charms for home? Not everyone sews, so many look for gifts. Don't take on too much though. I made a string and black "can get greasy" 1 layer spread with clipped raggy seams, out of gaberdine to put over the bed, so a person with a grotty job can rest before a shower. Without messing up the bed. Somebody has to do those jobs or we all are in trouble. How many cars would die without mechanics? All the best.

Another way to do the quick 4 patches: place the big and charm square right sides together. Sew on both sides like in your demo. Cut down the middle of the sewn square parallel to seam lines. Press forward print. P!ace the resultant units right sides together, print to bkg, nesting seam. Sew down both sides perpendicular to seam. Cut down the middle of the unit, between the last set of seams. Press and voila, two 4 patches. Just one less seam than your method.
