I'm a fan of Soundgarden from 3rd world country. I was in high school and saved money to buy their Superunknown album after i had heard the "Superunknown" track. Ever since, the band became my source of energy, it fuelled me to complete my Computer Science degree . Now, I am living in a first world country. Thank you Chris.
They made complex time sounds so natural. Too many other bands that wrote in metres other than 4/4 or 6/8 sound like you're listening to someone's math homework, but this shifts between 6/4 ans 10/4 and other time signatures without ever feeling weird. Its amazing
@@AlekseyFilippovHuzzah exactly. a lot of those math guys calculate and use pen and paper to come up with the rhythms, these guys just feel it. thats why it sounds so natural

My dad has been gone 12 years now and lost him in my early 20s. Soundgarden was the first band my dad and I bonded over. This song especially. Funny what music can do, no?
As a guitar player when you take the time and dissect these riffs, melody's and juxtapose synchronicities. Soundgarden was really unorthodoxed and don't even get me started on Cornell's vocal abilities while playing said chords. It's truly unbelievable, best songwriters hands down
SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted. The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.

This is a stunning version and his voice, of course, incredible, so full, even up there in a tenor level. A voice like that is gift. RIP, good brother.

Just teared up watching this. I'm a 37 yr old male that grew up to this music. I rarely cry, but this song along with Chris's departure really got to me today and gave me a reality check. Rest in peace Chris, we will miss you very much.
Sad loss. A great artist, a unique voice, gone way too soon. Thinking of his family, friends and band members. Really is a black day for a musos and my generation that grew up on Soundgarden. RIP Chris
What a devastating loss, R.I.P. Chris Cornell you will be very sorely missed. Your music and lyrics had such a big influence on so many peoples lives, including mine...
It's so hard to believe he's gone. I'm not a musician, but his music always motivated me to push harder in my workouts and study sessions. A true legend that will be missed and remembered. RIP brother. 😔
When I was in the fourth grade, our music teacher asked everyone to bring in a piece of music to share with the class, I brought Outshined, and had to show my teacher that the lyric was "where the dogs are shedding", or else I would've gotten in trouble I guess haha. RIP Chris
I dont know what to say about the news I got this morning, ive been a soundgarden fan since I learned how to piss in a toilet. My condolences to the friends and family of Chris Cornell, we all lost someone very special today. To the other members of soundgarden- I can't thank you enough for your music, you guys got me through really tough times growing up and it means the world to me. Personally I wont dwell on what I lost today, I would rather look back on all that I've gained from his work

I feel like I truly knew a part of him and he knew me in some weird distant way. One of goats in music for sure
Thank you Chris from the bottom of my broken heart...you, Layne, Scott, saved so many people you will never understand. I'm forever thankful that I had your musical presence in my life! Rest easy spoonman
He was an amazing man with an incredible talent... People like him always leave a drama in our hearts when they leave. Chris' voice always touches our souls and we mourn the loss every time we listen to his songs
Are you really going to tell me that this guy took his own life? This guy Chris will always be, to me one of three voices of grunge music , and if you went to school in the 90s, and this was your thing, it just doesn't get any better than this.
I love this very much. The way Chris Cornell, RIP changed his phenomenal vocals was like no other vocalist. His art was very deep. This song played 24/7 in my head. It haunted me wherever I went...
Anyone else find it difficult to not cry a little bit hearing Chris sing these lyrics? So alive and so in touch with death. And let's not forget Matt Effing Cameron.
I've had thoughts of myself even being around at 50 feel very disillusioned with life, now Chris is gone makes me feel even more mortal "...and my youth i pray to keep heaven sent hell away no one sings like you anymore..." you may now keep your youth and no one sings like you...anymore now. thank you Chris RIP
There will never be another Chris Cornell. No one will ever reach the level of this mans amazing lyrics, vocal power and musical creativity. Rest in peace forever, thanks for your presence in the rock world.
Green Building you sound just like all of the closed minded fools that told us our music sucked in the 90s. There is plenty of great new music out there if you look for it.
Green Building, again, it's there. Good music doesn't end with decades. There are plenty of artists and labels steering from digital and recording analog or just veering from every track at volume 10. To think integrity in music just ended in the 90s is absurd, especially when considering the countless styles beyond mainstream rock and roll. If you are blind to this that is purely your choice.
(1:11) accidental notes plucked during the pause. (1:21) notes he should’ve let ring, he muted. (1:42) what the heck was that solo lol? lots going on there.. There’s probably more, but hell, I still like this song and performance. Edit: People, please don’t see what I wrote as an offense to the guitar player. Like I said, I still think this performance is kick ass 🤘Nobody is perfect, after all.
A beautiful and talented man that left us too early. Soundgarden has and will always be one of my favorite bands. They were a huge part of my childhood.
What a band.
Guitarists love the guitarist, bassists love the bassist, drummers love the drummer, and everyone loves Chris Cornell.
SO WELL DESCRIBED.
Man this is so true. never thought about it like that.
And Chris was the only one in the band who was a guitarist as well and also the drummer. First drummer of Soundgarden. But yeah, you are right :)
AMÉN FOR THAT SENTENCE. WELL SAID BROTHER.

Thank God Letterman loved music so fucking much and he left us with all of these killer live vids....thanks Dave!
Mike Patton damn right.
