I watched this live. I went into school the next day and preached to everyone that Alive would be number 1 next week. And it was. 30 years later, I'm still alive. Still preaching the Jam.
Timeless classic tune.

Not near as cool but did the same thing with limp bizkit and nookie. Legends
which year was this please?
@@k-k8768 I believe it was released in 1992 in the UK but it might have been 1991 when this was recorded.
They make it looks so easy. Unbelievable talent on display.
Amazing talent and they are still excellent live! Me trying to run an early morning errand can't even compete with Eddie's hat / hair game at 3:22... ❤😂
That solo though... And what a song. A masterpiece from start to end.
Eddie's great and all but Mike needs some appreciation. Right up there with Hendrix and SRV

Yea imagine being able to pan one guitar left, and the other one right, and keep the bass centred. Fucking groundbreaking.

Good god! This Song! This Voice! This Feeling! 🔥🔥🔥
The voice. The voice. "Eddiie's hauntingly deep voice". : He has a once-in-a-generation God-given talent.
He'll yeah, I'm still listening since early 90s. Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees! Awesome band, what else can I say! I'm just glad I was alive to experience one of a generational band.😊
Thirty years have gone by and this song still rocks like nothing else… long live Pearl Jam

its insane how good they were at such a young age, ive been listening to this song since I can remember. im almost 40 years old and it still sounds so fucking good.
Holy f---- what a live performance! stuff of tales and the woman acting all professional with that calm tone by the end haha as if she didn't just witness 90's greatness right in her face

I'm Brazilian, I'm 47 years old and I've been a fan of Pearl Jam since 1992, since then I listen to their music every day and I feel young again, I've been in love with Eddie Vedder since then and I still am today... my biggest dream is to be able to watch one of their shows and maybe meet Eddie
Listening to this on headphones whilst working and completely forgot it was a live performance. So good.
Disagree
@@dustygatrell-ru7tg about the headphones? Or that I forgot it was a live performance? Or that I think it's good? You can't technically disagree with something that's my subjective experience methinks....and it would be weird if you knew whether I was wearing headphones or not.....😆

Eddie's Voice and his appearance and his way of moving when he sings is crazy sexy
My daughter will understand in 20 years why I play this song at full blast.
His baritone voice ...yum!!
@@janetbeard6143 Rolling Stone calls Eddie’s voice “hauntingly deep”. Loved that. If you liked his voice here, don’t miss Black on MTV Unplugged. Many consider it one of the greatest vocal performances of all time. You probably have already watched it 100’times as I have. Long live PJ. Long live Eddie.
Sometimes a song is enough to tell all the storms and emotions that have been unleashed in the hearts of a generation.

The soundtrack of my/our life, supporting me, encouraging me, growing together, comforting me through all these years. Never a disappointment. Thank you Pearl Jam, always in my heart
The look in his eyes while singing back then was something I'd never seen and still haven't!
The energy is incredible! Notice how Eddie uses the microphone stand and smacks the cymbal at the end of the song. Their music is a true work of art.

Dave is one of the greatest drummers to ever play. So underrated. Their first two albums with him were incredible.
Dave Abbruzzese did not play on their first album “Ten”. It was another Dave: Dave Krusen.
The word underrated.... Geezus I've come to hate that word.

Wow! Impressive! Look how young Eddie was back then!
Guys, this is what we called a Jam!
So much energy, and Mike Mccready's guitar solo is sooooo good!
It's about his father he never knew in real time was his father. A very deep song.
It's a great song that overwhelms you with the intensity of a flood.
Wow, Eddie doesn't perform with that intensity anymore. He's possessed by the music. Love it.
Anne Fitzgerald It’s called Father Time Anne, you can’t beat him but Eddie still rocks out pretty good.Even Hetfield from Metallica is kinda tame now!He doesn’t even swear at their shows anymore.
he's like 50+, cut him some slack ^^ he still goes wild during their concerts now and then
Every young lead singer in a rock band is full of rage and anger in the mean time they can sing very soulful, mick jagger, Roger daltrey, bono, Michael stipe, billy corgan, Robert plant, Freddie Mercury, those singers are an example of youth as time goes by they mature and settle down
its called getting older,,,body doesn't perform they way it did when your really young
Eddie hasn't sounded the same since the first album for whatever reason
Eddie Vedder such an amazing singer, remarkable voice!!
Yeah that guys kicks ass Dead head of sorts Neil young crazy horse carry on

How do you know
The singer's name ???
Anybody who loves Pearl Jam knows Eddie Vedder. Cmon!
Magazines told me about
The Backstreet Boys
And Spice Girls and I
I was only 9 , 10 or 11
Years old !!!!
Eddie Vedders voice is unmistakable 🔥
I'm forty one and I just watched this for the first time. I was thinking yesterday how Vedder could take a negative experience and make it sound so positive. This performance reveals some of the pain. And they are still performing just as visceral in 2017 being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame early this year.
One of the greatest voices ( and bands) of all time in my opinion
Always stay ave Pearl Jam , thank you from Ireland Europe.

Eddie himself is a very beautiful thing outside and inside. Outside is what we can see and inside is what we feel and hear. He is what we all could aspire to be. Free spirit.
I love how Eddie smashes the cymbal with the mic stand.
The casual before n after lady keeping her composure as if that wasn’t an epic performance. Lol this is classic. So glad all of this exists. I’m stoked

What a gorgeous looking man❤
The lady at the end tried to sound professional after that amazing performance but she was flustered so she stumbled over her words. Totally understandable. Its freaking Pearl Jam!
Eddie is so underrated for his amazing talent as well as staying so professional over the years. 💜🤍🌺
Underratted? By whom?
The performance quite literally opened up the UK and by extension, Europe, launching PJ into a global powerhouse brand. Google "Rolling Stone Flashback Pearl Jam on BBC". They say the year before this performance, PJ did a concert in the UK in front of 300 people. After this performance, stadiums. They go on to call this performance "ferocious" and "historical". My favorite band of all time. Eddie's God-given talent and deep haunting voice are unmatchable. Viva Pearl Jam. This is live in the studio and is perfection. Mcreedy crushes this song.
The best times of the band! All the strength and posthumous creation. Years passed, and many of us continue to enjoy it and see with great nostalgia that the best drummer was undoubtedly Dave Abbruzzese. The strength, image and style that he added were very noticeable. He was the 5th Pearl Jam in all its manifestations.
Don't get smart
Well... More than half share the same sentiment. That's no coincidence, it's causality for everything Dave meant and did
@@traciospartaco_uSer768 lol I was kidding. Pearl jams good .
It's so cool watching this and how focused they are on their instruments, and now, it's just even better, 3 dimensional because all these bangers are in their blood and they've got the life experience to back the lyrics
Oh to be that young again. Has it been 30 years already 😢. Im so glad i was lucky enough to see PJ then when they were just breaking out. Their concerts were so hypnotizing. ❤
coolest band ever. i was in 7th or 8th grade at the time and completely obsessed with them. still am.
Album TEN was something.. Its a masterpiece from beginning to end.
Best live band of all time. Long live Pearl Jam.
Yeah, I have to admit that's excellent. I've only recently started listening to them after I stumbled onto Eddie Vedder's cover of Masters of War by accident, on a video recorded for Dylan's 30th anniversary.
Then I listened to Ten and Vs, just to check them out - I wasn't disappointed.
Best live band of all time? That's difficult to say. Queen could have given them a good run for their money in their day. Different eras though, so it's all hypothetical.
Yeah they're pretty awesome, but what about black flag. They are absolutely amazing!
Deadline Music revisiting this comment now that I know better, it's obvious that musicians like Bob Dylan and Neil Young only work with the best. Knobheads don't get to gig with them.

I watch Pearl Jam and wonder how was Nirvana bigger than them? I was 4 in 92 so I don't fully understand what it was like to experience them first hand, but growing up listing to their music after the fact and Pearl Jam is just better in every way.
Nirvana was grungier.

Man, the sickiest guitar solo i ever heard. A true eargasm. I always skipp to that part. Greetings from Lebanon
Admittedly I've only ever liked a couple of Pearl Jam songs until recently, but I've loved Vedder for years 😍 but now since actually listening to more songs I love their music and it shows just how much better older bands are, they sound just as amazing singing live, you can hardly tell the difference
I want to comment about Dave cause I think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'm a massive Pearl Jam fan and for me the sound that made them the legendary band that it is today is based on this man's approach to drumming. His pocket is perfectly laid back enough to give tracks the looseness that it needs to flow correctly. If you are a musician you know that there are lots of ways to land or fit inside a certain tempo, and this guy manages to do that in a perfect way. You could be a technical prodigy and be able to play any groove or any time signature, but these little things are what separate a great musician from a gifted one.
Totally agree, he deserved more credit.
Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo. El sonido característico de Pearl Jam en gran parte es gracias a Dave.
He was great with them. But the 1st album and the demos were the blueprint for the way the songs got played. And the drummer on the demos was... ...Matt Cameron!
