Very little is said about Robert DeLeo. He wrote most of STPs hits including this song. His bass playing is sublime. He pays homage to Blues, Jazz and fusion. Not to mention backup vocals. STP is nothing without Robert.
Very underrated. Dean DeLeo his brother, also created some of the greatest guitar riffs for STP. STP is one of the best rock bands ever.

I'm a bass player myself and trust me when I tell you, he's a monster bass player. Very underrated.

I love STP, don't get me wrong, but that's not a great performance. The guitar doesn't sound good and the tempo is really slow compared to the original.

It's a good song no doubt but the greatest rock song ever? Objectively its not even close to being the greatest. Sales, popularity, lyricism, instrumental technicality, vocal performance, song structure, etc. It falls short in each of those categories when compared to every other rock song

I saw them in Las Vegas back in 1994. My brother and I went and it was our first concert ever. The opening band was Redd Kross. The experience was surreal. It felt like a haze of noise and sound but they could play.
They played very well and at the time I didn’t appreciate how rare it was for bands to actually be able to perform live.
God I love bands that can play their songs live that sounds like they do on the record.
