music was really amazing at this point: Hip-hop was coming into it's own, metal was at full peak. Alternative had gone overground. The energy was real. not sure whats happened.
One of the only times in history where all genres we're producing top notch music, rap was great back then, grunge, and alternative were at their peak, experimental was thriving. Metal was also great at the time. Now rap has become generic autotune crap that's barely rap, rock has mostly become pop music with instruments and no one appreciates alt/ experimental 😪
still in disbelief that this amazing human isn't with us anymore. What a gifted person he was. Long live chris cornell and the beautiful music he shared with all of us
i keep coming back to watch this a million times. chris’ vocals are insane, the fact he sounds just as good or better live as studio recordings just proves he’s one of the greatest. kim’s guitar work completes this band, matt just plays the drums like no other, and ben is a bass legend and has written some of my favorite SG songs. love this band so much. one of my favorite live SG performances
1992 i was 17 years old it was one of the best years of my life i still have great memories of those golden times. Alice in Chains and Soundgarden the best bands of that time but the media choice was Nirvana. Great injustice with AIC and Soundgarden.
Vinter Sorg....Dude come on...I was 20 in 1992...I was a huge Nirvana fan...I also love Soundgarden and like a lot of AIC...but there was no "great injustice" done to Soundgarden or AIC....both bands got critical acclaim, huge fanbases and sold tons of records. Great injustice is bands like Mudhoney or the Melvins never making it huge, while Billy Ray Cyrus does. The media choice was actually Pearl Jam. Nirvana got the most attention because they were the first to break through, had the catchiest tunes and because Kurt was such a presence. They deserved that attention. Soundgarden has and always has gotten a lot of respect, especially by Nirvana fans like me. Nirvana and the guys in Soundgarden were friends, the guys in Soundgarden respected them and were completely blown away when suddenly Nirvana made it through. The attention and glare that Nirvana brought to the genre benefited Soundgarden, AIC and all the other Seattle bands, not to mention alternative music in general and thank goodness for that, since i was pretty damn sick of Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.
I think its all about what the band did to expose themselves more. nirvana and pearl jam both probably contacted MTV to do the unplugged show that year, and SG perhaps didn't yet want that exposure, or MTV thought their sound is too heavy. it's sad, but MTV has a say on what kids/people will like.
NARKISDUDE Well let's not say Nirvana "contacted" MTV to do MTV Unplugged...in fact, the relationship between Nirvana and MTV was in the toilet because Nirvana was furious at MTV because of their behavior. Nirvana did not want to go to the MTV Video music Awards that September (1993) and MTV threatened them by saying not that they would never play Nirvana videos again, but that MTV would never play *ANY* videos by other groups that Nirvana's management, Gold Mountain represented... MTV's behavior was despicable.
tnx for the info, now I hate these mo'fuckers even more (MTV) other than that, my point was that it's good publicity you know, to have lots of music videos etc., even if it means selling out and at times shorten the length of the song because THEY think its too long. unless you're Justin Timberlake and in that case a 10 minute video is peachy(: ...
Love how Chris gives the finger to the camera guy getting in his face …. Next scene you see both dudes with cameras backing off stage 😂. Like they pissed off God or something. In his own way I guess Chris kinda was …..R.I.P. to one of the best vocalists to ever get up on a stage anywhere and sing his heart and soul out . Damn glad to have been able to see these guys and be a part of this era in music history. Happy 2023 to everyone.🤞✌️
Tool, Soundgarden and Pantera were the three best bands of the 90s. I mean i like Nirvana, but IMO they were so far behind the power of Soundgarden and only really rose so high because of Kurt's death

Soundgarden's and Pearl Jam's Pinkpop 92' performances were out of this world amazing. What a great time for music. Side note: Look at the rain puddles creeping in from the sides of the stage, it's a miracle someone didn't get electrocuted.
Its incredible the amount of people that hates pearl jam without reason, the irony is that eddie is the only grunge singer alive, long live grunge and fuck off all the haters
I never saw them live but I was in the sixth grade when this album came out and my older bro brought it home. It changed my life. This era is the pinnacle of rock and roll.
They're both lucky to have him. Someone has to replace him though on Soungarden 2014 dates, he had to choose one or the other this time and he picked PJ. Good luck finding somebody to play his parts correctly...
***** Yeah, they got Matt Chamberlain for all the tour dates this year. It's hard, Soundgarden are touring right now to support the 20th anniversary of Superunknown, but Pearl Jam are touring for their new album, and they both are pretty heavy tours that would probably be logistically and physically impossible to coordinate, so Matt chose to go with PJ.
***** I don't know if you're a drummer or not, but a Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/Temple of the Dog tour would absolutely murder him. He's 50 years old now, and it's not like he's playing smooth jazz or anything, it's hard rock and it's very tiring to play an hour long set, let alone a 3 hour long set. With two different bands.
***** Nothing like that, I don't think he likes one band more than the other, he still played with Soundgarden at the two shows this year where they played Superunknown in full and on the Tonight Show, he just can't do both at the same time. He also cited his decision on wanting to still have time available with his family as well.
The brilliant voice of a rebellious, raw and real generation-everything has a purpose, it's our attachment to things that gets in the way of living Miss you Chris and Thank You for being you! XO
The bands at this point should set up funded sites where their fans' secretly recorded videos are uploaded. Plus of course provide their own footage. The situation is exactly THE OPPOSITE of the past, now the bands should be celebrating those old videos their fans made.

@@joandrumz3176 I recall Chris Cornell introducing Ben Shepard at the Capitol Theatre in Olympia, WA in 1991. He raved on him and sounded extremely grateful to have him in the band. He was being really modest and almost sounded like he thought Ben was too good for the band saying they were really lucky to have him. Perhaps he never got a lot of mainstream credit, but he got a lot of respect from other members of the band.
So great! I remember seeing them at Lollapaloosa in 1992 Orlando FL, there was a small hurricane approaching FL we thought the concert might cancel, but it went on. When Soundgarden came on, they were on the second stage (outdoor) and the Tropical Storm force winds were coming from directly behind the stage, blowing all their hair straight at us and with the gray menace of clouds behind them and wind blowing through them and toward us, it felt like we were all being pulled into some kind of vortex, pulling us in with Soundgarden ROCKING us all the way. It was AMAZING. It was a great time to be alive :-) Yeah!
love the improv section in the middle. they really know how to bring it down to a low, unsettling growl, and then bring it crashing and screaming back up to the climax. this is soundgarden in their prime!

Cornell was definitely one of the best vocalists of ALL time! Fucking commercialism!
I am not so sure if there are bands out there doing this. Today it's all about, I'll be in a band for 6 months and if we are not playing Madison Square Garden then I'll move on to something else. The fans and industry aren't there to support bands. So band members move on and get on with their life. Or they simply copy another band verbatim. People today are more concerned with making it than the art portion of it.

R.I.P. Chris Cornell, thanks for the good music
Choice Soundgarden in their f-ing prime. Cam and Shep are un-f-ing-stoppable. Cornell hits the high notes with full authority. K.T. is always confidently original, no other guitarist like him. Bad ass and worth the watch. Thanks for sharing.
No clicks, no autotune, no VS, just amps and pure talent.
I love Soundgarden. That was a WHOLE lotta hair happening back then.
Damn. Damn. Damn. Those drums. That bass. Those guitars. That voice. That voice. RIP- Chris
They were the best rock band of the 90s, and the best of grunge. Alice In Chains was cool because it had Layne Stanlley and today Jerry Cantrell can't hold it together, SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted.
The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.
Amen. That voice.

God knows how many times I’ve watched this, the bass player somehow still manages to play in amongst all of the moving around. Such a great band, mega in concert.
not to mention is shoe lace haha
I dont even know who else played this festival, but just the fact that a young Soundgarden and Pearl Jam played makes it legendary. I wonder how many people there even realized that day the level of greatness they were seeing
The bass IS UNBELIEVABLE

music was really amazing at this point: Hip-hop was coming into it's own, metal was at full peak. Alternative had gone overground. The energy was real. not sure whats happened.
+Scott smith I agree everything was raw and real in all those genres at the time
$$$$$
Justin Bieber became a thing,unfortunelly.
Pablo Power sad but true..
This is why Soundgarden was the best of the best of the Seattle groups. Raw, powerful and absolutely amazing
still in disbelief that this amazing human isn't with us anymore. What a gifted person he was. Long live chris cornell and the beautiful music he shared with all of us
the fact that cam can do this on that simple of a drum kit is mind blowing
i keep coming back to watch this a million times. chris’ vocals are insane, the fact he sounds just as good or better live as studio recordings just proves he’s one of the greatest. kim’s guitar work completes this band, matt just plays the drums like no other, and ben is a bass legend and has written some of my favorite SG songs. love this band so much. one of my favorite live SG performances
"HOW NOW BROWN COW? YEEEUUGHRIGHT" is the best lyric in all of grunge
1992 i was 17 years old it was one of the best years of my life i still have great memories of those golden times.
Alice in Chains and Soundgarden the best bands of that time but the media choice was Nirvana.
Great injustice with AIC and Soundgarden.
don´t Forget pearl jam, candlebox and rage against the machine
NARKISDUDE
Well let's not say Nirvana "contacted" MTV to do MTV Unplugged...in fact, the relationship between Nirvana and MTV was in the toilet because Nirvana was furious at MTV because of their behavior.
Nirvana did not want to go to the MTV Video music Awards that September (1993) and MTV threatened them by saying not that they would never play Nirvana videos again, but that MTV would never play *ANY* videos by other groups that Nirvana's management, Gold Mountain represented...
MTV's behavior was despicable.
tnx for the info, now I hate these mo'fuckers even more (MTV)
other than that, my point was that it's good publicity you know, to have lots of music videos etc., even if it means selling out and at times shorten the length of the song because THEY think its too long. unless you're Justin Timberlake and in that case a 10 minute video is peachy(: ...
That era for metal & grunge was so damn good & will never be repeated...hail Chris Cornell R.I.P

Chris Cornell was channeling Jim Morrison at 15:30 ... so sad that he is gone. I was fortunate to see him live best concert ever !!!!!
Agree, thought it was Jim for a second
Unbelievable in concert in the 90’s took a few days for your ears to stop ringing. How good were the 90’s great everything !!
Soundgarden was always the best hardrock band of that era, no question.
Tool, Soundgarden and Pantera were the three best bands of the 90s. I mean i like Nirvana, but IMO they were so far behind the power of Soundgarden and only really rose so high because of Kurt's death
@@NooDLES411911 Yeah, nirvana aren't bad but to be honest they only became THAT popular because of the morbidity around Kurt's dead

Soundgarden's and Pearl Jam's Pinkpop 92' performances were out of this world amazing. What a great time for music. Side note: Look at the rain puddles creeping in from the sides of the stage, it's a miracle someone didn't get electrocuted.
Epic day indeed. Soundgarden had the rain and the thunderous volume. Pearl Jam had the sun and an energy of a bunch of crazy teenagers. What a year
Pearl Jam ain't good , just stop mentioning

I never saw them live but I was in the sixth grade when this album came out and my older bro brought it home. It changed my life. This era is the pinnacle of rock and roll.
How lucky is Matt Cameron?? Plays with two of the best bands ever!
I would more state it that they are lucky to have such a talented musician like him;)
There will NEVER be another Soundgarden but Hard Rock will come back around. Chris Cornell came from a very special, musical, place.
The greatest band of all time, past, present and future.

The brilliant voice of a rebellious, raw and real generation-everything has a purpose, it's our attachment to things that gets in the way of living Miss you Chris and Thank You for being you! XO
31 years later and the complete show hasn’t surfaced 😫
The bands at this point should set up funded sites where their fans' secretly recorded videos are uploaded. Plus of course provide their own footage. The situation is exactly THE OPPOSITE of the past, now the bands should be celebrating those old videos their fans made.
When Chris Cornell looked like a beautiful Jesus

90's definitely had some balls to it! We're playing our music whether you like it or not! To me 90's is the last BEST decade for Rock music. It's not the musicians fault, it's the industry. I'm confident there are bands in basements, garage's, banging music like this out there. It's a shame the Industry doesn't let this shit through anymore!
