Yesterday I tried this guitar (in Japan/Tokyo :-)). I think the playability and sound of this guitar is wonderful. Also, I felt that it is not heavy for a guitar close to a Les Paul. It's a excellent guitar.
One problem is that, as you say, this guitar is underrated and is not often exhibited in stores even in Japan. (We see cheap models of Pacifica and REVSTAR in shops). The store where I can try RS820 is more than an hour away from my house, but there is only one store near Tokyo where we can try RS820. Also, I want a model with a different color from the guitar I played yesterday, so I have no choice but to order without trying the individual. Even though Yamaha guitars are of stable quality, I'm worried about buying them without checking the individual. It is also a pity that there are few used ones.
We can watch many good videos on RUclips that explain the value of the RS820 (including your video). I hope this guitar will become more popular.

CORRECT.. Model above is made in Japan. The 820CR is made in Indonesia. Got the 820CR Brushed Black on order and I just can't wait. Have a 720B and I just love it so I'm really excited. Thanks for the video :)

Pretty sure it does have a maple top.

My bad, the specs I had at the time listed it with just a solid mahogany body. I stand corrected!

From memory very good, there isn’t anything getting in the way so you can get your hand up there with ease

How did it compare against the new PRS SE Custom 24

The 24 has a slimmer neck and a brighter tone. Both are really well made but the 24 has a bit of extra high end to it that really brings it alive.

@@GuitarTalkUK cheers for the quick reply. Also you tried the PRS Custom 2408 vs Custom24 (dip switches vs push pull)?

@@hollywoodactress I don’t like the look of the switches looking back but they do give you a couple of extra tonal options and if you are someone who sweats then you don’t have to worry about a slippery hand sliding off the push pull pot if you are trying to change it in a rush
