    To me they sounded very close. I might pick the 620 only because I like the inlays on the fretboard.But, I do like that reddish color of the 820.

    Both very fine guitars, the 820 is definitely the better sounding unit, cleaner, louder! Is it worth the extra coin? That's a personal choice.

      I heard the same, 820 sound more bright sparkling , may be more scooped less mids but wider range of frequencies !? Is it just the pick ups ? Or the different bridge, or the thickness of mapple top ? Anyway better tones but worth €200 more ?

    I own an RS820 and an RS520 with the P90s. They both feel and play very similarly to say there's about £300 between them. I will say though that there's just something about the 820 that just edges it out in front. I'd argue it's probably down to the tonepros bridge because it just sustains great and the feel is just there. I wouldn't feel bad in the slightest though if I could only have one or the other. Seriously underrated instruments IMO. You'd easily be dropping £2k+ on an equivalent Gibson.

      I prefer the fretboard inlays of the 620 but the sound of the 820. If I were to buy the cheaper 620 do you know if a bridge swap would be possible ((820 to 620)? I assume they both have p-90’s which is why you’re thinking the bridge is the sound difference maker. It would allow me to get the look I prefer and use the money saved to purchase the bridge.

    I've been looking hard at both these lately. They both sound excellent. Not a huge difference in tone here, the 820 maybe a little brighter. For the price difference I really like the 620 and the inlays on it. I have the 502 p-90 wraparound bridge version. It has a nice crispy tone and plays as good as anything I have or had in my 35 yrs playing. Great comparison video.

    Both are great. I own a 320 and love it. I customized it with a Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge and Jazz neck, chrome speed knobs, and a pull knob which doubles as the tone knob for coil splitting. A supreme rock and roll machine! But I'm also thinking of getting an RS 420, which is the next level up. The stock pups in the 420 and above work better for me than the stock pups that came in the 320. Not that their bad pickups, but they just weren't quite where I wanted the tone to be. It's perfect now.

      Also, to my ears listening on my beyerdynamic 990 pros. The 620 sounds a little warmer which honestly, I think I prefer on that guitar, the 820's slight more bite also makes it sound a little thin to to me. but its slight, like you have to make a point to listen for it

    They are both reallly close. I recently acquired a RS620 and for the money? It is an absolute dream. I wouldve had to spend 2k or more just to get a solid MIA Standard Les Paul that comes close. Nice playing, I really liked the chords, and it was nice to hear someone shredding with a fuzz sound. I think there times that the 820 was a little brighter sounding than the 620, but overall, they seem quite similar. I hadn't heard of these until a few months ago, and I have yet to find one to try. I own the Revstar 502T (with trapeze tailpiece and P-90s). I very general terms, I'd say it's got more snarl and bite with its highly expressive pickups. Cleans up wonderfully when rolling the volume off, too. For comparison, I also have an older USA Reverend Slingshot Custom and a PRS CU22 Soapbar, both guitars with three P-90s, and my Revstar not only stands right alongside them but has its own sonic identity. That said, I wouldn't mind getting either of these guitars next! lol

    The better bridge (Tonepros AVT-2) adds a bit of extra clarity / note separation with its brass studs and inserts.
    I however am quite fond of the darker/warmer default character of the pickups and even their being hotter than some pickups advertised as a vintage paf.
    You can improve note separation via pick/strings/lowering the pickups on the 620 too. I for one don't really feel this need. Lovely guitars and lovely series in general.
    I'd rather add a 502t to the guitar rack for more clarity / single coil character than upgrade from 620 to 820.
    For those looking for a more clear and transparent tone, it's really either 720b (the one with filtertron style pups) or the japanese rsp20 models.

      @@rtbmusic1135 If you also find they lack highs, you can't really bring those by lowering them, you have to grab another set. By contrast I find the RS720 pickups (those faux filtertron styled set) quite appealing with plenty of highs and enough restraint on the lows to get tight rhythm sounds and squealing harmonics even from the neck pickup. They're lower output than the stock 620 pickups, but not a huge gap.

    Indiscernible between the 2. I owned the 820CR . It came with a buzz in the bridge. I contacted tone pros directly and they were really cool. They sent me out a replacement and gave me a return label for the buzzing bridge so they could research it and correct any manufacturing defects. The replacement bridge was great. They didn't have too, they could have said send it to Yamaha. That being said this is a magnesium bridge so no real tonal difference between the 620 bridge. I liked the guitar but it was neck heavy so I let it go. Loved the bridge pickup though!

    • @andreil1234
      @andreil1234 5 лет назад +5

      @@ammx8492 Three things to consider:
      1. Some bridges may require changing the inserts as well, so light luthier work, in order to fit different sized/better inserts. Some will fit the existing posts, but you need to take measurements of the screws.
      2. Since the guitar's fretboard radius is 13.75", therefore closer to 14" than to 12", you will find that most wrap arounds target the 12" radius. You can have the saddles shaped/shimmed to make it flatter, bu tthat's also extra work. Otherwise, all four inner strings will have the action a bit higher (I really don't think it would be a problem at all in real life).
      3. Mind the specs of the aftermarket bridges, some wrap arounds are a bit tall and you might find you cannot lower some enough to get super low action (if you're into that).
      That being said, here are some suggestions which you might find interesting:
      - Graphtech www.graphtech.com/products/brands/resomax/resomax-wraparound-bridges
      - ABM abm-guitarpartsshop.com/ABM-GUITAR-PARTS/Wraparound/Modern-Adjustable/ABM-3024:::256_88_122_123.html
      - Schaller schaller.info/en/bridges/351/signum
      - XGP (this one might be too tall for sure but looks interesting) www.guitarfetish.com/XGP-Brand-SOLID-BRASS-Slick-Guitars-wraparound-Bridge-_p_13877.html
      - Vox Max Connect reverb.com/item/5430189-vox-maxconnect-wraparound-bridge
      - Schroeder www.schroederguitarhardware.com/products/schroeder-original-stoptail
      You need to look into them and decide for yourself. There are more, but I find these the most interesting! Cheers.

    Great Video. Check out Lauro Cox demo of the line up as well as Ander tons. Personally I think the RS620 is closer to a classic Les-Paul thick sound which is warmer which I love and the RS820 has a thinner sound on the higher notes which I do not like. To me it's like Les Paul-is (RS620) and the SG (RS820).
    I also prefer the inlays on the RS620. I would recommend the satin orange burst of the RS620.
