It was televised around the entire ship and we got adulation for the entire duration from other passengers. I was on the conquest in 2005, during hurricane katrina. We left New Orleans just a few days before the hurricane hit. I vividly remember my parents watching the storm track and I knew they were getting concerned. On our way back we couldn’t outrun the hurricane and wound up in the roughest water I’ve ever experienced. We weren’t allowed outside, we couldn’t go to certain top deck interior areas, glass breaking left and right. While walking you would literally be thrown as the ship went through the waves. Quite the experience to live through. We were rerouted to Galveston as the city of New Orleans was wiped off the map. Our 7 day cruise turned into 8 days as they allowed us to stay overnight in Galveston to help with getting home. Unbelievable experience that I’ll never forget. EXACTLY I HATE UPIDY PEOPLE !! You bought a vaction to worry about what the next person is doing, or how they’re acting, thats none of your business go get a drink or something !
Why I always choose Royal. Even on their cheap cruises it's still luxury. It's still elegant regardless. And Royal food has all cruise lines beat in my opinion.
i agree with your assessment of RC except the food. they have excellent food but i was very impressed by the food on a Holland American cruise. the activities were limited by comparison but the food was exceptional. once night they served baked alaska to the entire dining room at the same time. Dining was the main attraction on HA cruises but we still do RC cruises because they are certainly the best all around.
For the price, this actually sounds pretty nice for low income individuals, definitely not families though. My parents go on luxury cruises and I assure you that those cruises have their issues as well. My advice though is never engage troublesome passengers, discreetly inform security because you don't want a problem with anyone on board if you can help it.
when there are enough troublesome people around, you don't have to look for trouble. trouble will find you easy enough. i'm just surprised that homo sapiens have survived as long as we have, with all the idiots/troublemakers out there.
I've taken maybe 10 carnival cruises and always thought they were good and fun. I've never encountered anything negative ... Now I have been on Princess cruises and sleeping seniors in every chair is outrageous!
I’ve never had my cheeks slapped, so I might find my coin jar and book a cruise. I am 52 so there’s still a chance it won’t happen (fortunately or unfortunately) 😮

Carnival has fantastic service I’ve been on several of their line as well as other lines for the past 15years and I don’t know about this experience, but overall carnivals service and how they treat their guests and the energy that they bring to the boat in comparison to a lot of others is the absolute best
It started at 50 bucks but with taxes and fees goes up to 150, just the nature of cruising. I went on an MSC cruise and it had a 600 buck gratity fee on top of the $1,500 we already spent. @@jamiejones6994
I’ve never been on a cruise ship before but it all amazes me. Everything that’s going on, the engineering, the engine room etc. all fascinates me. This entire world is out there not just floating but sailing around 20-40 MPH on the Ocean going from here to there while everyone is oblivious. It’s really incredible the whole thing. For the most part the guests are relaxed, entertained and having a good time while this massive machine does its job so well you’re oblivious to it. The closest thing I can compare it to, even though it’s not a pretty analogy would be a flea on a St. Bernard‘s back. I wonder if they have tours of the engine room?
@@memyself898probably because they are tired of you guys, but I guess they do it to theirsleves selling the state as a tourist state like the azz of athletes and celebrities you all kiss and they hate you all and what they do.
Man even for something built in 2002 I'm still amazed at how insanely large and complicated these ships are. I've got an amateur interest in early-mid 20th century cruise liners and warships, and man...for the cheapest cruise available this is ultra-mega super-luxe first class for $200 by those standards... great video!
The classic Carnival ships, including Carnival Conquest, were designed by architect Joe Farcus. They are so underrated. He was there from the beginning and deserves some credit for helping the cruise industry shake its stodgy image. He has a book with a lot of photos from the ships he designed.
Nice video. I will say as someone who took their first cruise last December I PERSONALLY appreciate the announcements because with out I wouldn't have known what was going on or where to go. Keep in mind they know how many people are new and they need to accommodate us as well.
I sailed on the Conquest for a week in June 2019. Best week of my life. On deck 10, directly above the bridge, is known as the secret deck. I was there every night. No lights, no people, and serene views and blissful breeze.
I went on the 8 day, 7 night carnival cruise to the Bahamas out of NY/NJ and they rarely ever were on the loudspeaker, the app was HEAVILY pushed so people could do stuff at their leisure, they quietly left notes of what excursions you could book while you were out at dinner (their dining hall was AMAZING with the best staff) AND no matter what they remembered who you were, your favorite drinks, your favorite foods and suggested amazing things bc they got to know you as people. AMAZING cruise line.
@@Lovetheworldbeone It was a good mix! There were nightly club activities and over 21 activities if you wanted to party that happened later at night, tons of comedy shows for the chill late night crowd. There was always a mix of stuff to do during the day too. Absolutely best vacay I've ever taken
My favorite cruise ship is the DREAM,my son and I went on a 6 day cruise we had a blast, there was something to do all the time,I hated to leave the ship ,the Dream,if you've never been never sailed on it,it is beautiful.next cruise is the dream for sure.
A few years ago, my girlfriend and I set sail from New York City on a cruise. For the full experience, we opted to stay in a suite located on a high floor. The New Yorkers who were also on the cruise exhibited very questionable character traits. The same group of them was seen by us stealing watches from the watch booth, fighting, and smoking weed in their rooms. Their attire for breakfast and dinner was wearing thong bathing suits. At every event that my friend and I went to, they were always there, and they never failed to engage in some kind of brawl or to behave in a manner that was both loud and annoying.
I think the announcement thing varies by cruise director. I've sailed Carnival several times out of Galveston with different directors, and most of them only make announcements twice a day, morning and evening. We did have one who made announcements three or four times a day, but most seem to limit it to once or twice.
The Conquest for my first ever cruise and that ship will always hold a special place in my heart. The one thing I do not like about Carnival is the announcements. No so much the amount of them, but the fact that you cannot hear them in your room. You hear the tones and you have to jump up off your bed/couch/balcony and sprint to the door and open it so you can hear the announcement in the hallways. I know some people do not want announcements coming int their room, but I would actually prefer it.
I love the Conquest, we cruised on it in 2008 and 2009. I feel like the cheaper a cruise is, the more likely that you will get people who dont get to do stuff like that often and dont know the appropriate behaviours and attitudes on ship, which is so different from being on land. And the cheaper a cruise, the more likely to get more people who should know better but will spend more to drink more and then act like fools.
Yup!! Totally agree! Makes is soooo awkward when they come up to you, beaming w/ excitement and in COMPLETE disbelief about some standard cruise 🚢 feature 😅

It’s the hood on the seas I am able to stay far enough away from the drama but close enough to watch and have a great story to tell. I’m check out some of your other videos now❤
I love carnival cruises and never really had those negative experiences lol. One of my favorite memories is dancing with a group of like 8 random older women. They had me sandwiched and it was just so much fun
I love cruising. I have been on a number of them. I have to say that out of Royal, Norwegian, Princess and Carnival, my favorite was Carnival Mardigras. The ship was beautiful, the shows were spectacular, and comedy - no one does comedy better than Carnival. I do miss all the gorgeous art from the Carnival Magic-my first cruiseship.
J, you don't need to be shot. Your giving us an honest review of your experience on Conquest. Unfortunately, no I guess fortunately I'm starting to realize that Carnival Cruise Line is going down hill and down hill fast. Been loyal with Carnival for several years (Plantium) and recently tried Royal Caribbean for the second time. Passengers on Royal were all very well behave and respectful. May even become Loyal to Royal in the near future. It's really ashame that Carnival is allowing such behaviors as you described to continue on. ( And we have also experienced). Also I appreciate your views and hope some day get to me you on a cruise! Take Care & Happy Cruising!
Hopefully, Carnival will wise up, and beef up security, cut alcohol off after a couple drinks and stop selling that alcoholic drinks package! 15 drinks allowed per day is way too much alcohol!
My husband and I were on this cruise. It was such a pleasure meeting you during the embarkation process. Thanks for the chat. Love your channel ❤️. We lived on Guy’s burgers and pizza bc the buffet and dining room food was awful. There was a nasty smell of death on the lido deck. Just nauseating. Someone thought it would be a great idea to bring a toddler in a diaper in the adult pool. Staff did nothing. When they put the roof on the pool area, the smell of chemicals made that area unusable. We saw a girl fight at customer service desk. Wow! Savage. The violin trio were amazing, and we met lots of very friendly people. This was our first cruise. Never again. Wish weed guy came to my door 😂. We will still watch your videos though❤️.
Please I beg you to take another cruise... This isn't a reflection of the experience it just happened to be the people... Carnival used to be top notch... It's just going down hill
I went on Carnival several times in the past, but no more. Too much of a party boat years ago. And I can really see how the short / low priced cruises would attract a different crowd. Prince & Holland America are more civilized and enjoyable to me.
I have been on 10 cruises with Carnival since July of last year 2021 and the only issue I have had is bland food sometimes. I think with this being an inexpensive cruise you get a different, younger and Newer group of cruisers and you get a different experience.
You need to know you’re great at this RUclips thing. Your videos are refreshing to the point, great pacing, and you make it interesting. Don’t let anyone tell you differently
Very good review. I have never been on a cruise yet. This certainly gives very good insight into the pros and cons of the bargain cruise. Never thought a cruise event existed for under 200$ with taxes and fees. It costs 80$ for a return ferry ticket to Catalina Island, and that's only one hour each way with no cabin!
THANK YOU for not complaining about things you have to deal with on every cruise everytime. Like waiting till 130 to get into staterooms. It indeed "is what it is"

@@JonChrymesanother backpacker here but this is so cheap it might be worth a side trip for fun. The slight smell of sewage and constant PAs are probably the deal breaker. I can roll with everything else though and a couple days on a tropical beach sounds really good with winter coming.
Covid literally changed things! I would co on carnival for years prior to COVID, everyone was civilized (staff, crew and attendees). I have never seen a fight or unruly behavior until after the pandemic height. The overall cleanliness and food quality has also decreased, so I've been told. This is a bummer, because I enjoyed Carnival
I will always have love for the Conquest, because my first cruise was on the Conquest back in July 2005 while it was sailing out of New Orleans. It saddens me to hear the awful behavior that goes on, on the Conquest.😢
My first cruise ever was on the conquest and I had the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. Definitely gave me the cruise bug real bad 😂 everybody was friendly, I enjoyed the food and events and it was overall just a good time
I like the Carnival Fun ships way better than the ship we are on now. The wonder of the seas should be named the Slumber of the seas after 9pm the ship is empty, haven't had a fun night yet. It's our 14th cruise
I have done RCL ONE time and it was enough for me. If I were to take my 92 yr old granny on a cruise I would take her on RCL. Thank GOD I was with fun people or I would have been bored senseless. The ship was old, dingy and the food wasn’t great. Carnival isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I’ve always had more fun.
Honestly.....I had the best time on The Conquest! It is what it is because people have fun and just don't care or worry about what anybody else thinks. Been on both Sunrise and Conquest this past month and I like the vibe and flow of the Conquest as plenty of room for people to stretch out.
Carnival Cruise, did it once, never again! It truly is a Party Ship! For me, I just want to chill, watch the ocean, relax with a drink, take a nice excursion, meet some fellow travelers. You know, something calming and soothing, which is something Carnival is definitely not!
It's totally obvious that you are a performer. Every performing artist I've ever met in NYC has this ability to be gregarious while at the same time being incredibly neutral and having a demeanor that makes it impossible to determine where they are from and what their background is.
I actually took a trip to Mexico on this ship in December for my daughter’s birthday. I definitely had some issues as well. I feel like this trip or ship was more of a party and wasn’t what I have come to expect from carnival. Keep in mind the trip was for my daughter. I could smell weed the entire trip so strong it would knock you down. To each their own but I spent way more money than that for a fun birthday trip and was severely disappointed in the wild party vibes and behavior constantly happening right in front of my child.
I have to agree, I just came off the horizon and I was not happy at all. The cabin next to me had unsupervised minors . I called security several times. It was so many teenagers in there. This was my first time cruising carnival in over 15 years. Never again. The food was bad, the sewage smell, the Mary Jane smell. Etc….
I just sailed the carnival breeze out of Galveston to Cozumel and everything you said is 100% on point period. The entertainment was absolutely pathetic. The food was fantastic and the staff from the cabin to the dinner waitstaff was 5 stars. The casinos took a lot of my money but I still had fun.
I’ve been on the carnival ship which has so many things to do you don’t really get bored. I’ve also been on the cultured wind star line where I met a lot of wealthy people including the guy who invented the thermometer you put on your forehead. I gotta say I prefer the fun carnival cruise because I get bored easily. However if you’re looking for peace the wind star line is calm and top notch. It all depends what you’re looking for.
I was on Carnival Radiance in June, and there was a fight during Bingo. I enjoy your videos; nothing wrong with pointing out the shortcomings or disappointments of a cruise.
I’ve been on two Carnival cruises on the Dream and the Vista to Mexico in the past and my experience was very good both times. I really enjoyed it. I got a cheap $250 trip to the Bahamas on the Conquest next month, after watching this, I’m nervous.
Look, i have sailed Carnival MANY times and have loved every cruise i have been on, but i also know how to handle my expectation. the longer more expensive cruises are a different type of crowd. I know what im getting into when i book.
This video was EXCELLENT. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Very thorough, impartial, and honest. I appreciate that. I'll be watching more of your videos from now on. Thank you! ☺️
This is pretty much what I expect with Carnival Cruises based on all the stories I've heard over recent years. Maybe it didn't used to be that way? My first cruise in my 20s was on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Back then it was not like the newer and larger Carnival Cruises (at the time) with all their colors and flashy stuff, the NCL ship was very basic, but the passengers were mostly older folks, not many kids, maybe 1/3 of the passengers were younger adults, so it was a quiet and peaceful cruise, relatively speaking. Thats how I want to cruise. Ive never been the wild party type. I don't want to hang with that crowd and deal with the drama. My dad is often fond of saying to me- "you get what you pay for", but I guess Im glad there is something for everyone nowadays.
This is the funniest cruise review I've ever seen. Offered to buy some grass right there on the boat? Come on now LMAO. But at the same time it's very detailed and informative.
We loved Carnival when we cruised with our sons, because it was affordable and they have great kids’s programs. Now that they’re grown and we have more $$, we cruise Norwegian. It’s like going from riding public transportation to driving your own car.
As I've mentioned before, my wife and I were Platinum members of Carnival. My introduction to cruising before we were married on the Carnival Triumph in '99. On the many cruises we took together we never encountered anything like what seems to be happening the past couple of years. I haven't been on Carnival since the pandemic but was planning to take a short solo cruise in January. I'm still going to do so, but will definitely be careful. Thanks for being so honest in your reviews. I can think of a few other cruise/travel reviewers who can rarely find a negative and it makes me wonder. As a former sailor (US Navy) I always laugh when I hear that expression, not saying it might not be true. By the way, surprised to see you wearing pineapples on your shirt after your recent video. ;-)
I am a Carnival fan as well and haven't cruised since the Pandemic. I am interested in knowing more about you being married an traveling solo? I am single and always say I'd continue some solo travel after married but people question it and act like I'm crazy.

i agree with your assessment of RC except the food. they have excellent food but i was very impressed by the food on a Holland American cruise. the activities were limited by comparison but the food was exceptional. once night they served baked alaska to the entire dining room at the same time.

The classic Carnival ships, including Carnival Conquest, were designed by architect Joe Farcus. They are so underrated. He was there from the beginning and deserves some credit for helping the cruise industry shake its stodgy image. He has a book with a lot of photos from the ships he designed.
I thought the Conquest was beautiful!
Launched in 2002

How was the feeling of the cruise, was it a hard core party crowd or just the usual have a good time.
@@Lovetheworldbeone It was a good mix! There were nightly club activities and over 21 activities if you wanted to party that happened later at night, tons of comedy shows for the chill late night crowd. There was always a mix of stuff to do during the day too. Absolutely best vacay I've ever taken

He is well articulated. I don't even like cruise ships but he's easy to listen to.
Should have a button for a speaker in room
Ours was in our room on the Mardi Gras
i just tune them out, no problem
I love the Conquest, we cruised on it in 2008 and 2009. I feel like the cheaper a cruise is, the more likely that you will get people who dont get to do stuff like that often and dont know the appropriate behaviours and attitudes on ship, which is so different from being on land. And the cheaper a cruise, the more likely to get more people who should know better but will spend more to drink more and then act like fools.
Some people don't have the appropriate behavior & attitude to be in public anywhere lol

I love the tackiness of the older Carnival ships!
