The Ford Ranger has a very strange history. It came orignially from the Edsel Ranger all the way back in the 50's, and then was a truck in the 80's to the 2000's. With the 2.3 liter Ecoboost, is this thing fun and a hoot or just a slow rebadged truck? Let's talk about it. Thanks for watching!

The Bronco and the Tesla trucks (Yes, ford is looking to release a Bronco with a bed in a few years to take on the gladiator) will be some eye catching trucks coming out soon. Down south, unless someone does it up tacky they all blend together.
I'm personally not a fan because it's nearly impossible to buy a compact truck in the us these days and they're so dang useful
One problem with it. Last I heard you have to take the front wheel off to do your own oil changes...... Horrible design
Truck body brought to you by Toyota tacoma
We have these evvvvverywhere in aus, including the ranger-raptor
Same here in SA
We don't get the 2.3 EcoBoost in NZ/Aus.
We have 2 diesels - a 3.2 5 cylinder Volvo or Peugeot engine, and Ford's 2.0 compound turbo 4 cylinder (Raptor and Wildtrack). Utter PoS vehicle - I hate them lol.
Honestly here in Canada it makes no sense to get these small trucks. F150 has more capability and it's not that much larger, for similar prices. I got my used Ram Rebel for 33k CAD, V8 4x4 and some off-road goodies.
Y’all are so lucky to have the Ranger Raptor. Hope there’s a version in the US with the F-150 Raptor engine. That would be one hell of a truck.
I’m behind two right now lol
Leaf springs are for towing 7500lbs. When you use struts you end up like the dodge 1500's.... squat city.
Boom Roasted
A simple leveling kit fixs that
FUCK THE POPULATION
But why design it to require them?
1500 is a light duty. 2500 is for towing the big loads.
True story, towing with a 1500 ram feels like you’re towing with a boat after you’ve used a leaf sprung truck
Bought a new ranger XLT crew cab with fx4 package. Went cross country and back with my family, went off roading with my cousin and his new Tacoma, and went off roading with all my friends to the creek to swim. The truck is amazing. Haters keep hating but I love it.
XLT XL STX confusing as hell. My brother got the 2018
F250 with STX and FX4 package and I got in it was blown away because it look exactly like my XLT chrome bumpers no power seats 4 in non touch screen. I think it's the last truck that came off the line with whatever they have left lol
Cool story but still a girls truck
The only thing we hate is the price. It's way too expensive for what it is....or what it's supposed to be, which is a small reliable truck.
I don't think people are hating it; maybe it's just not the actual real "work truck" for them! May be a perfect truck for going for a swim with however, as you mentioned!! ;D
Ditto!
I like the Ranger. Not everyone needs or wants a full sized truck, so there's room for this truck. The one problem is not everyone that would buy this truck wants to give up ventilated seats and moonroof and power tilt/teli wheel etc. They really need to add a Limited version.
If I spend 40k on a truck, it better have rear leaf spring suspension. It’s a truck!
Rams have coil springs all four corners. Works just fine and rides alot better.
@@timmartin4798 They just Can't carry a load.
ThatDudeinBlue should get the Ranger and give it a nice blue wrap so that it’s ThatTruckinBlue
BASITH PH, That would be great. #ThatTruckinBlue
he has been saying he needs a rig
Upvote this! It'd tow his car with ease! I've already towed my grandpa's classic Vette with it!
Merkhadian that’s cool!
I was honestly thinking a RCSB coyote f150 an throw a wipple on it, the truck smurf
David, this isn’t a new platform. It’s new to the US but this exact truck has been overseas for years.
The overseas version isn't body on frame.
@@markharrison7922 I dont know where you're getting this from. The NA version is currently the same unpinnings as the one in Europe, Asia, South America and Australia. You can literally go to the Ford website by country to see this.
Yeah when he said "2011 was the last time they built a Ranger" I kinda tuned out of the rest of the review :/ and I'm a yank lmao
thebensho so did I 😂
Mark Harrison it’s the same body style bud
Just too much money for a midsize truck..... needs a cheaper version for the cheapskates like me. I don't need auto start stop, I just want a reliable truck
Just A Car Guy Named Tom I think the base is like 22k
Nissan Frontier is the last of the affordable work trucks. You can still get one with a 4 cylinder mated to a 5spd with a vinyl interior. They are freakin great if all you want is a truck.
Just A Car Guy Named Tom it’s around the same price as other mid sized trucks.
If u want reliable get a toyota tacoma or tundra
5.7 tundra has went a million miles so its a great truck!
Designed in Australia.
Rest of the world has had these for years since 2012 .
But not with the 2.3 eco boost .
Rest of the world has had 2.2tdci and the 3.2tdci 5cylinder .
Drive like a car, steering is nice and sharp.
They are great pick up trucks 👌
Wish we had the diesel model here in the U.S
I thought it had the 2.0 ecoblue ttdi engine which is coming to the us in the transit
I dont want my truck to feel like a car.
It’s priced too high. All the folks that love rangers bought them back in the day when they were 20-26k new. They went to take a look at the new ones and got sticker shock. I think those owners will keep their old ones.
Andrew Munczenski 50k or 30k base. I just saw one 4wd for 70k. Yeah sure it’s entry level 🤦🏻♂️
Kryptek HD
The past ranger fans probably will not buy these trucks at the price point they are at now. At least not new. The whole truck thing has gotten out of hand. The manufacturers are making so much on these trucks now.
Micheal KTA
Most regular folks cannot buy these new high priced models. So how many will they really sell.
Have you ever heard of inflation? Over time the price of a product has to raise or they'll lose money.
Jacob Stone
But the costs are going up more than inflation. I know my pay hasn’t keep up😾
The old Ford Ranger, they were simple to work on , good gas mileage, cost was good, and last a long time.
Marty Schmidt I loved those little trucks but no one would buy it now. People want features. I did see how oil changes need to be done on this vehicle and it’s atrocious. You should t need to take a tire off to do an oil change.
240k miles on my 05 ranger. Ready for another 200k. Maybe not lol
I just bought a 1996 ford ranger, for 2500$ has 44k miles on original engine, no rust (northern truck) and only summer driven its enitre life
@@snapfish89 Not.
@@Wentzyyy steal.
Just drove one as a dealer loaner, loved the truck not the price. 4x4 lariat crew cab. $41,800 and it didn't have all the options
I am a contractor and rented a 2019 Ford Ranger. I drive it in the city. I average between 16.8 to 18.2 miles per gal. I found it too big of a truck for what I envisioned with the Ranger name.
my old 03 ranger gets about that-thats horrible mpg
@@benrent6625 My 01 got that. So did my 82. In 09, I got a tacoma. Much better truck. Much better company. I would be afraid of a ranger with this much tech.
willysnowman why is the Tacoma much better? Please explain in detail
@@deanemberley2333 Ford is a crap company. They patented a hose to the gas tank on my Ranger with two different sized ends. You could only buy a new one from Fraud for $250. They do this sorts crap a lot. Their engineers are trained to squeeze the price from their vendor, not to design good reliable vehicles. The front end handling sucks and does not hold up. I will most likely never buy another Ford.
@@willysnowman Tacoma is a great truck. I really wanted to buy one a couple months ago. But on the test drive I found it too cramped and too slow. I went straight to ford and test drove the new ranger. Bro it’s a much better truck. I’ll give you that it probably won’t last forever like the Tacoma. I can’t argue that. But while it lasts it’s way way better than the Tacoma.
Bought mine in that exact color and spec but with fx4 out the door for $33.5k having put 6816 miles on it in the last month I’ve got some pros and cons. Pros: good pickup and go, phenomenal off-roading, comfortable interior, pretty good gas mileage, beautiful taillights. Cons- I would spring for the leather if you plan on doing 3+ hours of driving. I have the premium seats and it gets uncomfortable after 3.5 hours driving. I don’t understand the 4 cylinder hate the v6 in the Tacoma straight up blowssss it’s under powered with no enjoyable driving experience. If you want a truck and used to cars this is the perfect vehicle. I went into this from an excursion and am still very happy with it. Overall I’d say with a redesign this truck could be a king in the world of midsize trucks. Overall 9.2/10
Will Singleton agreed, ecoboost engines are really under-appreciated. Great for what they are
Yeah, lets forget completely that the old Toyota 4.0 v6 from 2015 had more power than a 4.6 mustang gt, stock for stock. (dyno proven at FJP in Pennsylvania). The new 3.5 yota makes even more & pulls lengths on a 5.7 hemi ram.
That's far from what I would call underpowered, bud...
The new Ranger is not a new platform. It Ford's global T6 Ranger platform, introduced in 2011.
Chris Tamblyn knowing that a new one will be here in like two years with a complete redesign I see no reason to get this now unless you absolutely need a new vehicle.
Michael 0788 yup, that’s why I’m holding off. Hoping my Jeep can last me a few more years until the redesign’s 2nd year.
yeah, I was disappointed they didn't change it from the Asian and African produced Ranger they've been building for 10 years....
Waiting on the redesign. Bought a ZR2 for now. Hope they do it right
just another one of Fords better ideas. Drop the platform in the US to give us time to forget about it.
Bought a Ranger XLT Sport last week, I agree with what you said about the speed and power of the truck, very surprised and happy with the performance. Pulled my 23-foot boat out of the water with ease, fuel economy is great also, I have no regrets!
I’m getting garbage mpg. Don’t have 500 miles yet though
@@Aceinfinity-le8zc why the hell would you buy a TRUCK if you care about MPG?
@@arisyn because if I wanted shit mpg I would have went full size ?
So its been 2 years. Still all roses? Thinking of getting these some day
How reliable is it up to now? Do you mind sharing
Finally someone who seems happy about the Ranger.
I love the sound of the Ecoboost accelerating on the Ranger, It sounds awesome.
The ranger with the 3.0 5 cylinder diesel out sells the Hilux in Australia, for the first time in history last year. It's a brilliant bit of kit.
Correct me, if I'm wrong, is it the 3.2L 5 cylinder turbo diesel?
The 2.2 L turbo does the job as well!
WRONG! Ford Ranger was discontinued in America ONLY in 2011. It was still made in other countries until 2019.
Yup and this "new" ranger has been sold in other countries since 2014
In Mexico and argentina, Ford kept selling the ranger, but their starter motors and catalyzers were becoming very profitable for thieves. Also did you know.........in México, ford kept selling the f-150 and f-250 from 2006 to 2009, with the chassis, body style and engines ( 4.2 v6 and 4.6 v8) from the 10th generation, with a/c, no airbags, no radio, no DRL, crank windows, bench seat, taillights with amber color, bedliner, steel wheels and a monstruous facelift? it was called the fleet f-series and it was available only with a manual stick, and 4x4 optional for the f-250.
@@TOLMEX79 Sounds like those were Men's trucks; built for Real Men doing a Man's work!! :D
Canada. Quebec only 2019
I just purchased this exact same truck. This Ranger is underestimated. Price tag is high, but you know WHY when you drive it for awhile. The steering is amazing, and feels strong with its features making it a super safe drive. It is a bit of an anomaly for a smaller truck. I have driven Rangers my whole life. At first, I just wanted a plain truck. Glad this truck made me go into the contemporary truck age.
@@bioshock3d- they are trash
@@justinmcnamara8448 explain how retard. Don’t just spue hot shit outta your mouth.
You know I said same thing it’s expensive but I now know why now. I was actually surprised how well the 10 speed auto shifts I mostly have mine in sport mode. Can’t wait for the release of the ranger raptor
A few years back I was able to check out a Mexican market 2017 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a manual. I was sold, it was the smaller more basic new truck I was looking for. Then ford announced the only engine would be the 2.3 which I didn’t mind but then they said only will come with a 10 speed auto and that’s when I started losing interest.
Now I’m waiting to see what they do with the Bronco
The bronco most likely won't even have a v8.😭 It's rumoured to have a 7spd manual.
in Mexico they have the 3.2 5 cylinders is a good engine
@@MARCESAN9 I want a v8 truck and nothing else
Karl Hopkins a Ford F-150 is your best bet for that one
@@original__gmebvy Already have an 07 with the 4.6. Don't want a 5.0 they don't sound great vs the 4.6. Too raspy for me and definitely don't like the aluminum body.
I'm in Canada. I have 20,000 km on an FX4 Lariat. Love the truck. Faster than any other mid size pick-up and just as off-road capable as the benchmark Taco. The FX4 has crawl control and a locking rear diff. with a multi terrain management system. Highest towing capacity too. If you throw on a 5 Star tuner, they are faster 0-60 than a stock Raptor.
I have a 2009
Ford Ranger standard and I pulled a f-250 20mikes up and down hills Ford will ALWAYS be my go to truck
I love mine 👍🏼 traded my F150 for one and I'd never go back. Love the power and 28 mpg highway is great
What are your pros and cons?
You traded an f150 for a ranger? Wtf. People really are stupid
@@luciankristov6436 ..I think your comment is really pretty stupid..you don't know his situation at all do you. Maybe he wanted to downsize, maybe his kids are all grown up, maybe he moved and this fits his in his garage and lifestyle better. You're the stupid one for saying he's stupid and not knowing anything about him or I'm very sure you've never even driven a new Ranger have you?
@@luciankristov6436the only person that is stupid is you, stop having a small minded opinion
I don’t care for the front end but everything else is satisfying👍🏼
I've got an XLT with a turbosmart dual-port BOV and it sounds REEEAAAAAL Nice
Mind putting a link as a reply or msg? I'd love to get better sound out of my Ranger!
@@SoulKiller15 www.stage3motorsports.com/TS-0223-1096-2019-Ranger-TurboSmart-BOV-Kompact-Dual-Port-VR13.html it may be late, but i just put one on my truck, and it sounds amazing when paired with a muffler delete. If you want even more sound, combine those two with the Roush cold air intake.
It was made because the full sized trucks have priced themselves out of the larger market 100 k for a truck is madness
Andrew Gardener - I was at the Ford dealer a week ago....Saw an average Ranger going for $32k. An F-150 in the showroom was going for $43k. Some F-150s are insane, But the lower end 150s are still amazing and for only an extra $11k. No brainer. These Rangers are a far less better deal than the vastly more versatile 150s
Except the rangers are also going for no less than 28-30k USED. They are way over priced. They should cost $25k new. Even the 150s should be 30k-40k new. Truck pricing is out of control.
@@Octopusmaster u still arent hauling a skid loader with that f150-so besides a bit more towing what r u getting?
@@benrent6625 bigger inside room and some more towing capacity. You can't tow more than 7500 lbs behind the Ranger. I have the 2.7 Ecoboost in my f150 crew cab. It's only rated to tow 7700 but I average 22 mpg. That's great for a full size truck. The Ranger doesn't average any better on fuel. The 2.7 would be a beast in the ranger.
You can get a nicely loaded F150 for less than 50K. Your'e an idiot
Excellent review. Of course, I watched this AFTER I purchased my 2020 Ranger. I've had it for 2 weeks now, and I love it. I thought my '04 Ranger was great, but a year ago someone decided to run a red light and total it for me. I was leary about the i4 in the new Rangers, in all honesty. However, I am HIGHLY impressed with the results. I think Ford knocked it out if the park this time!
They should have made a cheap 15 to 20 thousand dollar truck with a stick. At this point you might as well just get an f150
I got the Lariat and if you want all the creature comforts of the F-150 Lariat this is the way to go. Get in it luxury but feels like a pickup and then when you hit the gas you get a sense of sportcar best of all worlds
A cheaper truck is on the way that’s much smaller along with a more off road competitor to the Gladiator. I’m really excited to see what ford comes up with I just wish they wouldn’t take so long to get to market. The bronco has been in development a while and an off road truck I think they said is out 2024 which means the Gladiator will have 5 years to gain a following.
Michael 0788 they might call it the ford Bronco?
Paul Bragg, I completely agree! A manual transmission in a simple truck, makes sense all day!
You're definitely asking for too cheap of a modern, reliable truck. 15 to 20 grand is not at all realistic in the year 2019!
Reason why theres leaf springs in back so you can hold big loads in the back. Think man
He's not a truck guy
He's not a truck guy
Like hauling his moms couch?
Tell that to the Ram 🐏
Love the new Ranger; test drove last weekend - far better than expected. The 4-cylinder Ecoboost is a beast. I have a Ford F-150 now, but looking to downsize.
I have a 2019 Ranger Lariat and I am using it to pull a 25' RV trailer (about 5,500lb towing weight normally) and it is pulling it beautifully at about 10mpg average. The Ranger is perhaps about the only mid-size classed truck that could pull such an RV trailer, and it does it pretty well.
That's completely inaccurate, just about any mid-size truck can pull a 5500 lb trailer
@@joshbrown284 - wrong!.. It is 30' overall length with a gross weight of 7,200lbs. No other truck in the same class, currently manufactured, is rated to pull that trailer. I have done my homework. Try again.
First of all the length of the cheddar means nothing it's all about the weight second of all you literally said average Towing weight of 5500 lb in your first statement and now all of a sudden it's 7200 pounds make up your mind and that is still not accurate because the Colorado with a diesel in it is capable of 7400 lb as is the Gladiator
Gross weight is what the trailer is legally allowed to weigh not what it actually weighs
Actually I'm wrong Jeep claims 7650 lb towing capacity
The next refresh hopefully has a 2.7 Ecoboost option as well as standard cab
TheReal NateDogg sounds like a oil pan leak to me
grantswagg13 is that an issue with the 2.7? I was under the impression they had similar build qualities as the power stroke
TheReal NateDogg 2.7 uses a plastic oil pan, it’s garbage
grantswagg13 odd...surely they’d fix that already
3.5 EcoBoost from the F-150 Raptor that shit would be insane
I absolutely love my new Ranger. I drove a Explorer Sport Trac and went to a Jeep since they continued it in 2011. So glad to be back in the truck family. I love the 4 door mid-size trucks.
No mention of the fact the Ranger didn't actually die off in 2011, this body style Ranger has been sold outside America since 2011. It was designed and engineered here in Australia. Though we don't get the Ecoboost motor, just Diesels.
thanks for letting me know how to start a car with a key
Still rocking my 92 Ford Ranger with the 3L.
James M to go with your 92 flatop haircut and mustache
@@johnnydanger1305 MmmmmHmmmmm.
Johnny Danger 😂😂😂
Glad they brought it back. Out of all the 1/4 trucks Ranger doesn't feel cramped like the Tacoma and Colorado. More variety of products to choose from, more options for the consumer to get a truck that will fit their needs.
This model has been made in South Africa for local and some international markets since 2012 (not the eco boost petrols though - only diesels). It’s actually considered to be a full sized pick-up here, with some, like myself, considering it to be cumbersome and lacking in agility compared too more “petite” competitors. Just shows how other markets reflect different consumer appetites.
It is funny how over there this is a "compact" truck and over here its a BIG bakkie. . . Can't wait to see the Ranger Raptor we're getting here in Africa
I hope we get the Ranger Raptor in the States
The twin turbo diesel 4-cylinder is really cool
I hope we get the Everest as well, they're talking about making Raptor for that, probably not gonna happen because even American car companies give better products to foreign markets...
It’s so weird seeing him drive by places that are all around me, he passed my house and my grandma’s😂
I've had my '19 Ranger XLT Supercab 4wd with 302A package for 6 months now. It's my 4th Ford truck. The other three were F150s. Traded in a 2013 F150 STX for this. That truck had the V8 engine but this Ranger is quicker and more responsive. The Ranger is by far my favorite of them all. There's nothing I dislike about it. Just did a 390 mile round trip with it mostly on two lane countryt roads and did over 26 mpg with it. It's really comfortable , handles well, rides solid and quite and has a ton of convenient features. I also don't have to circle parking lots looking for a wide enough space to fit in any more. Think of everything I've owned through the years this is my favorite, and I'm 71.
I'd like to see a review on the Ranger 2-years later!
I just bought a 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat 4x4 like spanking brand new with 47,000 miles on it this yr in 2024 from a Ford dealership. It's big and roomy and drives fast! Got it for under $32,000!
Here in the Philippines, we have the ranger wildtrak, which is like the high end model with a 3.2 ecoboost diesel, and a ranger Raptor with a bi turbo diesel.. you guys living in NA Don't get cool cars.. 😂
glenn maquiran dang I’m jealous haha
Send me a car then dont be a tightass lol
Huh
No we don’t, the Ranger Wildtrak comes with either a 2.2 Turbo Diesel, 3.2 Turbo Diesel, or a 2.0 Bi-Turbo Diesel
And the Ranger Raptor has the 2.0 Bi-Turbo Diesel only. Man you’re fake news.
Get your facts right!
I’ll say it. Too big. It’s the size of the old 150. I want a real small truck.
deuteriumjones which old f150 lol Bc my 93 Ford F-150 is a boat and is bigger then the new f150. The old f150s are also the same size as f250/350 of the same year soo wtf are you talking about
Thomas Hunt 1997-2003 or something. The f150 was really small
Those trucks where pos any how. And little trucks have no use in AMERICA
Nissan Frontier is the closest you will find
Kirk S 1997-2003 were the biggest f150s
Currently a Tacoma owner and long-time owner of many Tacomas. After test-driving the 2019 Ranger, I think it is the best Mid-sized truck on the market. Toyota fans may scream "RELIABILITY!", but I think the long term reliability of Toyotas has gone down by a lot (still the most reliable brand) and the reliability of Ford trucks has gone up by a lot. I don't reliability is a question anymore.
I own one and if you put in sport and turn on tow haul it removes all turbo lag and it tops out at 110mph ROUSH already has a stage 2&2 performance kit for it
You know why the 4 cylinder sounds nice? Fake exhaust noises.
Yeah it's just piped in through the speakers. Might as well drive a Tesla with space ship sounds.
John Klise
Sound bite from the Jetsons 👍
The sound imposer actually does not come through the speakers but just pipes in a tube for induction noise into the cab. Basically hear the engine sucking air a little more
Exactly. a.k.a fake exhaust noises.
The artificial sound is fucking terrible even the GS350 does which I'm ashamed of because I love the balance that car has.
2011 was discontinued in the United States. It continued in other countries, mostly South American, it morphed into the new one.
Drove one. Drove a bunch of trucks actually. Bought the Ram with a HEMI and don't have any regrets. I got the 2019 Classic, which is the old body style and not the new one. They've been polishing this model for 10 years now, and all the bugs are worked out at this point. One thing I've learned is that the first year it two of any new generation of vehicle should be avoided...
It was finally brought to the states for those of us who don't really need a full size truck, who are smart enough to refuse to buy a Garbage Motors produced Canyon , but want somethin off-road capable to go huntin in...I'm using my 74 Bronco now, but it's a high torque high horse power beast that uses an ungodly amount of gas...
Branon Fontaine but what is the point if the ranger gets the same mileage as the f150??
Fuel Milage: same as the F-150 with a 5.0.
Interior: Same as every single new ford.
Remote start: Standard on all mid tier fords.
This is just a smaller F-150 with a mustang motor.
that costs just as much
@@kidamere2408 the rangers are a little bit less. They're roughly 48k and the f150s are closer to 56k(CAD)
Sounds like they kind of dropped the ball there. You’d think they’d design the ranger as a smaller economical little truck that you can haul a dirt bike or 4 x 8 and still get 30 mpg or so, but maybe not....
James, I owned a 2016 XLT 4 door F-150 2wd with a 5.0, 19-21 mpg tops around town driving. I own the new 2019 Ranger XLT 4 door 2wd 30plus mpg around town driving. And the Ranger with the 2.3 would spank the 2016 5.0 easily.
"I'm looking forward to IF they bring the Bronco back."
Me, an intellectual: Does he really not know???
Just bought a 2020 after a test drive I was looking for a full size but changed my mind owned full sized trucks for years wanted something different and didn’t need mine to do all whole lot other than haul a small fishing boat or bikes and stuff like that. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy another midsize but just like the look and feel of this.
People outside the USA will know we've had this and so many other previous models cause they never stopped making them for us.
I love how ford has just decided to take models they have sold for YEARS overseas and then bring them to America and be like “Hey here’s a brand new car”.
Love my new Ranger.
If you need a pickup to tow a trailer a lot or haul stuff a lot get a full size.If you need to tow a trailer occasionally of take stuff to the dump occasionally get a mid size and the bonus is it fits in your garage a lot better than a full size. I traded my 350 for a 250 for a 150 and now a Ranger. I got just what I need at the time I need it. Buy what you need not what your friends think you need.
Just bought one. Very impressed. About 10 thousand cheaper than a similar equipped full size. Very quite and comfortable. I bought the xlt 4x4 ,chilly pepper red ,locking rear end, sync 3, towing package, and optional wheels and tires package. Msrp 37,000.00. They knocked 3500 off the msrp.
I love the new ranger but I just can't afford it..
Saw one up close at Costco ...looks like a shrunken f150
David thanks for the Ranger review. As others have stated previous, this is a updated 5 year old design. The Ranger has many compromises because of the F-150 which is not sold in other countries. The US will not add things that cut into the F-150 sales. No diesel engine, no Raptor for now, no Wildtrax V6, which is available in other countries. The Ranger is always going to be Ford's entry level truck in the USA with cosmetic upgrades.
I just bought mine 2 weeks ago and I love it! (Traded in my 98 Ford Ranger.) Your review is spot on; I agree 100%. And it's also the perfect chick truck for me and my daughter. Love your reviews!
I bought mine a couple months ago and I’m still in love with it. It’s absolutely the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I hope it lasts me a good 10 to 12 years and I’ll be happy
It wasn't discontinued worldwide, just in the States. LOL
I'm sure this video was directed to NA specifically
All modern trucks with the exception of Ford & Ram heavy duty trucks and Ram 1500s have IFS and leaf springs.
Ram 1500 4x4 aren’t solid axle in the front lol
Thomas Hunt that wasn’t what I meant. They are coil sprung in the rear.
Blake Nichols ohhhh I was like wtf you talking about
ThatDudeinBlue, David, I completely agree with you.
Like you I currently own a 2013 Mustang GT CA Special which I dearly love but I am moving to another state and starting a new biz and the Ranger is perfect for my needs.
It is fast/quick, lots of tech, is very good looking IMO, is extremely comfortable to drive and can haul/tow a pretty heavy load if needed.
I test drove all the rest. Did tons of research and decided on a silver Lariat supercab 2wd with 500a, nav package and tow package.
You can't find one of these built like this anywhere. I was forced to order it.
Ordered mine from the factory and with rebates, xplan and dealer incentives I'm looking at a tad over 32K tax and licence out the door.
I'm super excited waiting for it to arrive but at the same time I am going to dearly miss my GT.
BTW I love all your reviews. Keep up the good work!!!
I have a new 2020 Ranger and simply love it. I have always bought F-150’s but I sure do like this vehicle.
Same here. Got my 2021 a few months ago. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned
Love the video and the quality was 11/10
My friends dad just bought a new engine for me and my friend and we just put it in a 1998 Ford Ranger.
So nobody going to talk about the fact that the Chevy and Ford trucks look the same. Like the ranger and Colorado
don94pgt this style ranger was out before the new Colorado in other country’s. Who copied the old school trucks with the fenders etc.
They were both out overseas at the same time
damn. I just hate how all the new cars look the same, no personality
You mean like how the new camaros look like a mustang?
@@euroamerican5189 hmmm, i dont see that but the 2019 chevy trucks look like the f150s tho
If you put 93 octane fuel in it, the 2.3L engine makes 310 HP and 320 ft-lbs. The 270 HP/310 ft-lbs figure is with 87 octane fuel. It's exactly like the engine in the EcoBoost Mustang -- more power on higher-octane fuel. What this means is that it makes more power and torque -- while getting better fuel mileage -- than any other truck in its class. Of course, that costs you an extra $0.50 per gallon -- but at least you have the option, right?
The owner's manual even tells you to put 93 octane in there when towing, because you'll get better performance. Again, you don't *have* to -- 270 HP is still plenty of power, even when towing -- but it's nice that Ford gives you the option. I'm quite happy with my new Ranger.
I have an ‘09 Ranger. Bought it for under 20k with only 24k kms on it, and only a year or two old, which is nothing.
It’s been nothing but reliable for me, and 8 years later, it’s still by daily driver.
The price of the new ones, being $40k+, is wayy too high. If I wanted to spend that much, I’d end up with a 150, which is probably what I’ll end up doing anyways.
I think the new Ranger looks great, I think slightly bigger than my current one is nice, I’ve heard good things about it, peppy and different modes are nice, and fuel economy is always appreciated. However, they priced a lot of us out of it.
@ThatDudeinBlue you do know this model ranger Ute has been around since 2014 with minor facelifts. In NZ and Australia with a 3.2 5 cylinder Diesel engine and now a 2 litre twin turbo diesel engjne
...hol up
A DIESEL???
Had a ‘96 Ranger extended cab with the 4.0 V6 as my first vehicle in high school. Biggest pos i ever owned. Blew the head gasket lol
Considering I've never heard of a 4.0L SOHC blowing a head gasket, I'm gonna say that had more to do with owner neglect than anything else.
@@Sheehy223 yeah those things never popped head gaskets. He probably detonated like a mother or overheated it. The 3.0 on the other hand was a giant pos
Lol! You blew the head in high school? Well I guess we know what the problem actually was!
I used to see these all over the place while I lived in South Africa in 2014-2015. Kinda cool they just brought it over here.
Not sure you know but I'm sure you do but it's the global t6 model just updated slightly. It's been around since 2012.
I had one back in February
A 2 door ranger(2019-20)
And that thing went fast like it really did accelerate really nicely
You can even hear the small turbos, when doing a right turn, put that thing in rear wheel drive and it rips, its amazing!
Wepppaaaaa i love how they are bringing back trucks, i have to test drive this. also man My dream is for you to review my evo
Thank you everyone for the likes, you guys are the mvp’s. If you can give my channel a look. One day he will review the evo. Hopefully 😔

remote start with keyless entry is also optional but you cant drive away without the key lol. You can even start the truck from anywhere you get cell service/wifi with Fordpass APP. The truck could be in Florida And your'e in NY and you could start it.
These size utes (trucks) are hugely popular in Australia. The top 3 selling vehicles are all in this size with Ranger/Toyota Hilux being the top two and the Mitsubishi Triton/L200 third.
I was seriously thinking about buying a Ranger, but they're priced too high. I bought an F-150 5.0 instead.
a real truck :)
I like the truck I don't like the price and it still needs a manual transmission
Just go south of the boarder for a manual transmission. Should be legal since the US made one too. Too bad about the inport fee.
10 speed transmission, as a manual .. do you really want to shift through 10 gears?
@@garyweir1774 Yes
H. Snider we got a 2019 33k Ranger for 25k on clearance to make room for the 2020 models. We paid 22k for the 2007. We’re pretty happy with our purchase.
Automatic transmission on a small truck, or big one for that matter, are useless if you are in deep deep snow, even if you have 4x4. Need low low gear of a manual plus the low 4x4 to "walk the truck" out of a remote and frozen stuck situation,... or they might find you dead (of hypothermia) in your truck the next spring!!
I love my 2019 ford ranger xl yes it's the base but dam he's a beast I call him death ranger
Too big. I miss the old ranger. I don’t tow anything, I want a dump runner and something I can throw sheets of plywood in the back on weekends. Primarily I want something with good mileage day to day and not huge.
A whole lot of nitpickers in the comments. I can bet money if they had went back to the original recipe ford would be shit on anyways for "cheaping out" and not keeping up with the times. It drives nice, looks nice and the price is pretty damn normal for anything new today.
Ford never stopped making the Ranger ! They just stop in north america. so its not a revival.
But i do like them alot.
I went in debt for one ,,,,,,, I'm enjoying it very much. I've learned haters are gonna hate. My XLT Sport just under 37 after taxes.
I owned a 2001 Ranger and a 2015 F150, this is by far a better vehicle than the old Ranger and easier to maneuver and park than the F150. I love my 2019 Lariat Ranger.
The price of the Ranger is the problem. Midsize truck buyers could have 2 Nissan Frontiers or an F150. The augmented engine sound from the speakers only makes sense in a Tesla
For the cost of a brand new high trim Ranger you could buy a brand new low trim F150. Not everyone wants or needs an F150 and if you want all the bells and whistles without spending 60k, then the Ranger is for this person. Also, Nissan Frontier... Enough said there.
My 2019 FX4 4x4 Ranger was $28800 out the door. I don’t think that it was too expensive
@@GP80888 XLT Supercrew? What city/state?
Needs the 2.7 Ecoboost engine.
Here in South Africa, we've had Ford Ranger all my life and I'm 34. They build the headlights at Lumotech in Uitenhage. I know, cause I used to work there. We don't have big "trucks" like the Mericans do. This is big, for us. Lol
$42,000 for that truck at least where I live in New York state.
The ranger was created as a budget-minded Bare Bones smaller work truck which is what it should still be.
You mentioned the oil life percentage my 2011 F-150 has that it's not new technology. Blessing any real truck owner wants there's a whole bunch of electronic bullshit that's going to go wrong and cost a fortune to replace once it's out of warranty. Give me cloth interior, a regular radio with at most Bluetooth connectivity, a manual transmission, an actual floor-mounted shifter four four wheel drive not some stupid dial.
They should also give several options for engines not that I'm knocking the 4-cylinder ecobeast. Last but not least a 6 to 8 foot bed like my 98 Ranger that has a 7-foot bed.
If I wouldn't have to special-order it like that I would buy it but not for any more than $20,000
with ya on this one. a truck is a truck to some still, but they have made trucks so nice like a car and is used more for family hauler than a work truck. no power windows - rubber floor mats - no huge tv screen with info i don't give a flying rat's ass about. only option air............. sell a truck to a truck guy and not makes us buy a vehicle with gizmos we don't need. the working man needs a truck to work so make him one damn it. that should be $20.000 out the door.
I still have a 98 I bought new in 1997. Well over 200,000 miles and going strong with the original exhaust system. Think I'll pass on this one.
I love it but I'm going to stick to my 96 ranger sport
Good review..my wife traded in her Honda for a 2021 Ranger and she couldn't be happier..
No one talks about it, but this is perfect for older people. Old guys are steady buying f150s, including my grandfather, but the f150 is getting taller every gen, and now he struggles to get into his king ranch, they need to offer higher packages on these trucks, and then old people will shift their buying
"let's make the old F-150 and call it the new Ranger" Raptor Ranger or nothing.
It's darn near the same size as my 2001 F150, though it's not as wide as the F150.
Same story with the new Colorado though. My truck at work is a 2wd base model and the bed is legitimately higher than an early to mid 4x4 00's Silverado 1500
They were called Rangers back in the day late 70s look it up an F100/150 was a ranger
@@davidallen3158 and 15 grand less in some instances 25 Grand less
had a 76 xlt Ranger @@shogunMR
Problem is I can buy the full size for the price of the ranger and get just as good if not better mileage....
I agree the mileage isn’t the greatest but the performance is there and for price my FX4 4x4 Ranger was $28800 out the door. The price is not that bad if you spec it out right
You can get a fully loaded lariat ranger, at the same price of a very basic f150,maybe f150 still might be a lil more So no, not really
ElMasBuscado seeing well equipped XLT f150’s go for mid to high 30’s. Because there are more of them.
@@marc2008ln idk from where usually a well equipped xlt will run you about 40k
ElMasBuscado pre covid. All middle of the line trucks were there. Now stock is empty it’s either work trucks or full loaded.
The old lima 2.3-2.5 is 2001 and back, Ford swapped to the Mazda L3-VE (duratech) in 2001.5 and used it and evolved into ecoboost with a very similar block
The new Ranger is a nice truck, the 2011 and older was better, the perfect size, it would fit in all parking lots, the old one could not tow but it was not meant too, the old one was good for Home Depot or Target, being that I’m a father the old Ranger will be a good starter truck for my son
